Have gone here for years but not after today. Made an appointment for an oil change and was told it would be an hour wait. I got a ride home and waited for the call that my car was ready. Finally 2.5 hours later, I called and they said it was just finished. Not planning to come back here again since they didn't bother to offer me a status update on a simple oil change. Used to really dig Rush automotive. I don't know At what direction they've changed their sales tactics, but it's a bit disappointing. Came in for a regular oil change. When I get there, the guys take the car back, and then I get summoned to the sales desk. What for? 3-4 services my car doesn't need. At all. Fuel injector cleaning. No guys, the car has 55k on it and now where in the manual or otherwise does it state that the car needs that. Recommended transmission drain and fill EVERY 30k miles. No guys, this isn't 1960, transmissions don't need drain and fills every 30k, and mine specifically shouldn't be even opened for that until 120k for normal street driving....that's straight out of the owner's manual and the manufacturer. Also, the coolant flushed lol. Dude. No. That's not until 80k. Found out it's because they were pushing a certain company's products, and their computer system just recommended all these services to keep a warranty intact on them. So sure, bring your tranny in every 30k for a drain and fill that could very possibly harm it..but hey there's a warranty. Ugh. Super disappointing guys. Lost a customer today. FYI, it was 400 bucks, I paid for two services I didn't really need, because I just wanted to shut the sales guy up. Whenever you hear the line "ok man, it's your car, you do what you want", you know they're getting frustrated. Btw, for the transmission drain and fill, I asked specifically....why would you guys recommend a service that's not recommended by the manufacturer? The answer? Some people don't like to do full flushes. That's not an answer, smart guy, give me an actual reason. If you're recommending it, there should be an engineering reason why. At least make the case. But nope, didn't happen. So I had to educate like 3 people in the damn room. Then, just to make sure I had been sound in the facts, called up one of my FCA engineering pals....and yeah we had a good laugh at shops that are so desperate for money, they'll add on ridiculous services that the car doesn't need...and, in the process, actually cause more harm than good. They may think they're doing the right thing, but...they aren't. And they can't explain why. Super disappointed. These guys used to be ok. Not sure what changed, but I'll be looking elsewhere. lol. The incompetence of these clowns cost me an additional $2750 to have their shoddy work redone by a competent mechanic. First, they did a horrible job replacing the rear suspension of my wife's car. When we brought it back in and complained of the loud clunking noises from the rear suspension, they assured us that everything was fine. Fast forward about 12 months and we took the car to another mechanic who told us that the suspension work was done incorrectly. To add insult to injury, it had caused "cupping" to occur on all of our tires (they had been rotated during that time) so we had to spend $850 on a new set of tires in addition to $1200 to have the suspension redone. This past week, I had to have the radiator and thermostat replaced on my truck because when Rush replaced my radiator less than 2 years ago, they failed to put in a new $25 thermostat. When the thermostat failed last week, it blew out my radiator core and I had to spend $700 getting a new radiator and thermostat installed. Besides that, they were always trying to nickel and dime us on repairs that weren't needed. Do yourself a favor and avoid giving these incompetent clowns any of your business! read more

Such a well-run garage. I was helped almost immediately upon my arrival. There were multiple employees available to speak with in the waiting room, which by the way, has the most comfy lazy boy leather chairs I have ever sat in. Thank goodness there was coffee and wifi available or I WOULD have fallen asleep in them! Definite brownie points. I had contacted the garage a few months ago to request a quote on a service for my Volvo. Unfortunately they could not provide the service, however, the owner personally invited me to come in for other services. I came in for an oil change per an appointment. They provided me with a complimentary list of possible issues, but not knowing much about cars, I can't say whether or not they are necessary fixes. As far as the oil change, service was quick and thorough. Everyone was extremely friendly and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend stopping in for service. I've been going to Mister's in La Frontera for years. I mean it's quick, easy in and out, and you USED to get a free car wash out of the deal. Over the past year since I've had my Toyota Tacoma I started getting charged for an extra quart of oil. My last 2 bills were $76.61 FOR A FKNG OIL CHANGE!! I decided to start looking around, and if course YELP to the rescue again!! I found Rush Automotive right around the corner. Ok it's not in and out in 20 minutes.... closer to 45, but they tell you that upfront. They also have cool reclining chairs to watch whatever old action movie on at the time. Also, a K cup machine serving great coffee while you wait! The staff are friendly with no high pressure sales shit in things wrong that they find.... more of recommendation. I have been going to Rush Automotive since they were located on the other side of La Frontera. I told most everyone I met about them because it was refreshing to find an automotive shop that was honest in their dealings! They would even told their clients how they got started and it was hilarious to listen to them tell it with such enthusiasm. Many years later and I'm still going to them for my auto repair and oil changes. There have been many, many positive experiences with only a couple negative ones! The only time I had negative experiences were when (I guess it was someone new?) would quote me for something that was so simple but I was being charged an obnoxious price. My check engine light came on. I am new to the area and know nothing about cars. A nice lady at my YMCA recommended Rush. I brought it in and told them I'm new, know nothing about cars, and they were highly recommended, so I was glad to find a local shop I could trust. They checked the light for free. I'm like sweet! Then they said it'll be $370 for the diagnostic where they'll go in and find out what the real problem is, since the light just gave them a code. Okay. Bummer, but I paid it. I left that morning and got a call back at the very end of the day saying "We found the issue, there's a leak in the cool air tube leading to the throttle body. We need to replace the cool air tube and clean the throttle body, it'll be $1,200 total" (I looked at the breakdown, it said $200 for parts, meaning cool air tube). I run that by some people around me who all say thats crazy to pay $370 for diagnostic in the first place. I tell Rush thanks but no thanks and picked it up. Went to O'Rielly's to see what a cool air tube costs, $72. They recommended a Firestone so I took it there. Firestone A) finished the entire job for $300 (diagnostic was $115) and B) said that the problem was only that the throttle body needed to be cleaned, cool air tube was fine. I feel as though Rush exploited my lack of knowledge and instead of solidifying me as a regular customer, did their absolute best to rip me off. Like, their absolute best job. I called around the area checking diagnostic prices, $100 at Lambs, $115 at Firestone, etc. And to think they were going to charge me $200 for a $72 part that I did not even need. And on top of that $1,000 more for labor to again, replace a part that did not need to be replaced. Really sucks because it seems like they take care of their regulars based on these other reviews. read more

Never again will I go here, they did a good job previously on my alignment so I figured I'd give them a chance on my oil change. $3700 in quotes later, now my power steering sensor is leaking like crazy, had no problems prior. I totally get that things happen and last one who touched it gets blamed, however this is blatantly obvious something changed. I've parked over a clean driveway for the last 6 months, now there's a brand new pile of power steering fluid that wasn't there and power steering is whining. Technician and salesman there have no idea how "handy" I am and how much work I do to my own car. I hate when blue collar guys gouge or try to take advantage as Im also blue collar and it makes us all look bad. Would hate to see how they take advantage of those less knowledgeable... read more

Called in and spoke to Daniel, and scheduled to come in for an alignment. Due to a traffic accident, I was going to be a tad late. However, when I arrived, Daniel knew I was the one that scheduled even before I walked in. I am guessing due to the appointment time. In addition, he was able to get my car started for alignment right away. He made my wife and I, feel at home with the: coffee and drinks available. This review is about the repair work that did NOT take place. This was my first visit to this shop -- narrowed down my Yelp choices to three (3) shops and chose this one. Everything else being equal as far as I could tell, I liked how they mentioned a free brake inspection etc in their Yelp message back to me. Of the other two (2) shops, one replied with "Call our manager so-and-so at (#) to discuss." The third shop didn't have the message feature option on their Yelp page. So I took my 13 year old truck over to them because my front brake pads have 100K miles on them and I'd been warned that my rotors might need attention. They drove my truck around the block some and then inspected all pads and rotors. No more than 30 minutes after they started I was told that my pads and rotors were all still in good shape and that no work needed to be done. They also diagnosed a small oil leak problem (so that I now know where it's coming from) and gave me a solid estimate should I decide to fix it in the future. Done. $0. I like that; that's good business. read more

I only write reviews for places I've had notably positive or negative experiences. That being said, I had an extremely positive experience at Rush. I was leaving work when I heard metal scraping underneath my car. I got out and saw that there was a metal pane and a plastic pane hanging loose and scraping the road. I searched for nearby mechanics and Rush was the only place open and just happened to be right around the corner. I arrived 30 minutes before they close, walked inside, and was told I would be helped shortly. About a minute later, they had someone come out and inspect my car. They were pretty busy and it looked like they had no vacant bays to service another car, but they took my car, installed a bolt to secure everything into place, and handed me my keys back, all in under 15 minutes. They didn't even charge me for labor. It was completely free. They could have simply told me they were too busy and about to close, but instead they helped me and made sure my car was safe to drive before I left the place. Everyone I dealt with was very courteous and had my safety and best interest in mind. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this place. I can see why they only have 5 star reviews. Reasonable Price! Honestly people it is impossible to find a better auto shop. Not to mention they have always given me honest and fair recommendations as well, for example I had a small ding with my rear bumper on my 2016 Mazda6 and needed to pay out of pocket to they referred me to one of the last little ol' owner operated body shop left in Central Texas, Lee's Auto Body, and this body shop was able to do estimate the work at almost 1/2 the price that Caliber Collision quoted....thats a whole other review of mine you should review. I was referred to Rush Automotive and I am very Thankful that I was! The staff is extremely knowledgable and they do not push you into spending unnecessary money. They will tell you what is wrong with your vehicle in an honest manner and let you decide what you want to have done and when. I'll start by saying I didn't get my vehicle serviced here. Now I came in to get a diagnostic on my vehicle. They ran a scanner and a few codes popped up. Also had a light that came up on my dash that can be a clear indication of what's wrong with the vehicle. Especially the symptoms that I explained. It seemed like they knew what was wrong but they wanted to charge me to dissemble my vehicle just to get a "diagnostic". I do also know that just running scanner sometimes won't show you all discrepancies and problems could be complicated. With that being said I took my car to a different shop and they were able to identify the problem with less than 2 hours till COB with out dissembling my vehicle. Not only that, they were the problems that I did suspect. The total experience was a weird one. Just seemed like they were trying to up-sell me unnecessary services. A common practice of a lot shops unfortunately (intentional and unintentional) I'll spare you guys extra details to keep this short. I'm not trying to put this business down and I'm sure they do good work based on the other reviews. I'm just sharing my own experience. If you don't have mechanic experience. Do your research before you take your car into a shop. Try to identify the issues first and get second opinions. read more

My car was well overdue for an oil change and I was pretty sure there was a plastic piece hanging somewhere on underside but told by several mechanics that nothing was there. Rush took me by appointment, offered a nice cozy lounge to sit with free wifi and coffee, quick service and no fourceful ad-on services. The price for the oil change was amazing!!! They would give zero stars if I could choose this option. I took my BMW 330e for an alignment and when I got my car back one wheel was tilted so far inward that in rotated in in figure eight. I was told that was the best they could do because BMW limits what they can adjust. The car was ok when I took it in and I wanted an alignment because the tires were new. The employee who just took my money said he wouldn't drive the car like that! I took the car to BMW and found that RUSH Automotive had broken a rod that connects the tire to the car. What should have cost $68.00 for an alignment cost me $547.00. They should not work on BMWs if they cannot do the job properly! read more
