I have never used them for water/plumbing, but recently called Russo for some central air work. I would suggest looking elsewhere. I wish I'd read the other reviews before I called them. I called because my central air unit was turn on (fan) but the compressor was not coming on. The unit is about 5 1/2 years old. In my area Russo charges $117 for a diagnostic fee. I don't think this is unreasonable. They will not apply the $117 to any additional work they recommend though. The field tech was very polite, professional and seemed knowledgeable. He showed up on time, and within a few minutes gave me a "thumbs up" sign and said we were "all good." The owner was also very nice when I spoke with him, and actually offered a refund. So I do NOT think they are dishonest, but maybe the field techs are trying to sell, sell, sell. I asked the tech what the issue was. He could not tell me. He said he installed a hard start kit. I asked what was wrong that I needed this kit. Again he did not tell me what component was failing or was the problem. He told me if I wanted him to leave the hard start kit on it would cost an additional $427 plus tax. I asked why the unit did not need this kit for 5 years but now did. Again, no explanation. Also, $427 is incredibly high for a hard start kit. These can typically be had for $15-$50, and take a few minutes to install. The tech then proceeded to check the system. He claimed the R-22 might be low. I said "Might?" He gave me a price to add R-22 of $289 for up to 3 pounds, then $79 per pound. Now, R-22 is very expensive these days (at least to have installed) BUT what got me is he had no idea how much I'd need, couldn't tell me how low I was, but was ready to sell it to me. I asked if I didn't have a leak since these are sealed systems and I didn't think R-22 in a sealed C/A needed to be "topped off." The response was "Maybe." Then he gave me a price of $1,200 to check for leaks. So I said, so $125 for the visit, $427 for the hard start kit, $1,200 to check for leaks, and $289 and then $79 per pound for R-22. He then gave me a price for a whole unit. So I saw where this was going. So, I paid $117 for a diagnosis as to why my fan came on but the compressor did not. The diagnosis: if they install a hard start kit for $427 it works. The only thing he could tell me was that the capacitor tested good. Other than that, for $125, I know now what I knew before he pulled up: some component on the C/A unit may be malfunctioning. Again, the tech was very nice, but I felt like I was getting a lot of high-priced pressure suggestions, and not one certain diagnosis. He then started asking me if I was interested in lawn sprinklers. Yes, that's why I called and agreed to pay $125 for the non-diagnosis on my central air, because I wanted lawn sprinklers. More like a sales pitch than service. Avoid them. Look at the other reviews, you'll see this is a typical experience. I had another HVAC service show up, the cost was hundreds of dollars less, and that included refilling R-22 and hours and hours of checking for leaks. I will say this: they were very responsive to my complaint and actually offered a full refund of the visit fee. Since they did come out, I suggested just refunding half. But they did offer to refund the whole $117. read more

This was my first time calling Russo Plumbing, and I couldn't be more impressed with the experience--especially thanks to Paul Batchelor-Huelsenbeck and Marcelo, who was on his first day. They actually arrived earlier than expected, which was a great start. I initially thought I was just getting an estimate, so I was genuinely surprised (in the best way) when they were able to complete all the work the same day. Paul successfully replaced my outdated dual-knob shower with a modern single-lever handle, and the upgrade looks and works fantastic. While they were here, they also took the time to check my sink and discovered that the water pressure in my home was much too high. They explained the issue clearly and replaced key components in the basement to properly regulate the pressure coming in from the street--something I didn't even realize needed attention. Both Paul and Marcelo were professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely pleasant to work with. It's rare to find a team that combines skill, efficiency, and great customer service so seamlessly. If Russo Brother & Co. were a publicly traded company, I would absolutely invest in it--that's how confident I am in the quality of their work and service. read more

We had a leak in the kitchen over the weekend and we couldn't tell where it was coming from so we were afraid to use any appliances like the dishwasher, washing machine, etc. And we had company scheduled for dinner Sunday afternoon. We took the company out, but we also called two plumbers who have yet to call us back four days later! Someone in my online neighborhood chat group recommended Russo Brothers. We called them Monday and they answered the phone! (Unlike the others we called.) And they scheduled a visit first thing the following morning. Keith was our technician and he was very polite and professional, explained the problem and gave me a firm price for fixing it. He had the necessary parts in his truck and after two hours of work my sink wasn't leaking anymore, the problem wasn't as serious as we had feared, and everything was back to normal. The company called us before the truck had barely left our driveway to inquire about whether we were satisfied with the work. I learned that Russo Brothers provides many services like heating and AC tune-up and I'll definitely be calling them for future work. read more

Last week, I had a landscaper standing in my driveway ready to plant delicate flowers and we couldn't turn the water on. I had forgotten all about the year before and was very upset. I called Russo Bros to complain to the manager, Eddie, and he sent someone over immediately - another plumber named Phil, who promptly figured out what Raul had done. When Phil and I went to the furnace room, we discovered that Raul had even left a tag telling me exactly how to turn the water back on. :) Russo did not charge me for this second trip, even though it was my fault, and both Phil and Eddie were very good natured about it. I know that Russo's prices aren't always the lowest, but the service is excellent and I've worked with too many plumbers who do lousy work - it's not worth it. I did some of my own plumbing over the weekend and a very old iron pipe kind of crumbled on me...I couldn't get the drain trap back on... I knew I could probably fix it after 3 days of standing in Home Depot staring at the plumbing stuff and buying the wrong stuff and having to return it and figuring it all out by trial and error. But getting a plumber in was the easier way to go. Vinny did a great job of explaining the mess I made and complemented me that he was surprised I actually got the chrome part disconnected from the iron pipe. He went right to work and got the job done in a couple of hours!! The initial problem of the clogged drain (from iron decomposition) I was able to fix when I snaked the drain...but Vinny put the whole thing back together for me, which required cutting a fair sized piece of the iron pipe back and putting a new trap on, it was a big help...I typically hate spending money on things I know I can do myself...but it made sense that I just bite the bullet and get this done. He came out within an hour of my call and was done in no time. read more

Getting ready for work one morning, my shower was interrupted by my wife telling me water was flooding the basement. Doing a desperate internet search at 6am, we tried a few places, but the best we could do was a 9-11am window. Then we got Russo Bros. Vinny was at our house before 8am, checked everything out, listened to what happened, asked questions, and got a sense of the issue. He warned us of what COULD be happening worst-case (we used Drano. Don't.), then told me what he was going to try. Ultimately, snaking the shower drain cleared up the issue, and he was on his way, but not before cleaning everything up after himself (maybe that's standard, but I didn't expect it and was appreciative). Needless to say, we felt like we were in good hands, the issue is gone, and we're definitely going to go to Russo with any and all of our future needs. Top it all off, a desperate early morning call and there was no kind of "emergency fee" tacked on. I've got nothing but praise for this business, and Vinny in particular. read more

I signed the contract with Russo Brothers after learning that the company who I had used previously didn't do a good job (for instance, used corrosive caps for in-ground wire connections on my sprinkler system). Overall, Russo Bros. is not the cheapest deal around, but I feel confident that they do things the way they should be done. Especially, I would like to note Brad P., who was very thorough in explaining to me how the system works and my options as to repairs etc. I would have given the company 5 stars, but i feel that initial visit and technician I had to turn on my system lacked some of the points (explanation of the system, missed to notice that 1 sprinkler didn't rotate). All in all, I am pretty happy so far! If I went with the cheapest company, I would probably end up needing a new system soon, as they didn't do as good of a maintenance as Russo Bros. Also, it is pretty easy to get an appointment without extended wait periods which is great. read more

We called Russo Brothers to evaluate and repair a toilet that had overflowed while we were away, causing expensive damage. Because we hadn't been home the previous weekend while our Realtor had an open house, we theorized someone had left the toilet clogged, and for some reason a leak occurred, possibly triggered when a separate plumber replacing a valve in the basement turned the water off, and then back on causing a surge of water pressure. The power dry contractor plunged the toilet, but before completing restoration, we wanted to verify there were no other plumbing problems. Talk about an opportunity to write up extensive repairs! Russo sent Roberto over within two hours. He checked everything carefully and found no problem. It was a freak occurrence. The total bill was $49. read more

Had a main sewer line clogged at my home. Called Russo Bros and service personnel took my info and said they would have someone out within an hour. 45 mins later they were at my house ready to get to work. Mario Esposito listened to me as I described the issue with the plumbing. He understood exactly the issue and went right to work! He explained everything he had to do to clear the blockage. about an hour later he was done everything was cleaned up. Like he was never there. Thank you Russo Bros!! And a Giant Thank you to Mario!! Outstanding job!! I definitely recommend Russo Bros to take care of your plumbing needs! I've used Russo Bros often at some of my job sites so I have some experience with them. Today, Chris came out to clear the kitchen sink drain and replace the faucet on the laundry room sink. What a worker! He arrived around 8am and finished up a little before 6pm and worked the entire time. He never stopped to take a lunch break until 2 or so. He is very pleasant and professional and discussed everything that had to be done in easy to understand language. Although I was not happy with the price, Chris did whatever he could to keep the cost to a minimum...obviously clearing the drain was a bigger job than originally anticipated. Chris is definitely a 5 star Russo Bros & Co. associate! I use Russo Brothers for everything - sprinkler system, heating & cooling, hot water tank and miscellaneous plumbing. We had a fantastic experience with our plumber, Will Mendez. We initially called him to address a main sewer line issue, and he not only hydrojetted it thoroughly but went above and beyond by checking out several other concerns around the house. A represenative from Russo brothers came out to look at why there was water dripping from by bathroom to the living room below it. They completely misdiagnosed the problem, proposing a $7000 solution (that wouldn't have fixed the problem anyway). The represenatative tried hard to find the source of the problem but couldnt even find the underside of the drain. In my experience in dealing with them, they had extremely poor technical knowledge and strong, pushy, and rude sales team. When I got a second opinion who accurately diagnosed my problem, they continued to push their proposal, completely ignoring the fact that their "solution" wouldn't fix the problem anyway. I was so impressed with the service and professionalism. We needed a slop sink removed same-day ASAP and Phil came out to do the work. He then came back to re-install the sink and do some additional work in our powder room. We did not have the correct supplies, so he was very detailed in sharing what we needed. When he finally came back to do the work, he was diligent, professional and very transparent and honest about the scope of work and what needed to be done (including getting someone in to fix sheetrock prior to him finishing work). I called Russo Brothers plumbing for a blocked sink drain in my only bathroom. The plumber Raoul came on time and did his best to snake the sink but it was completely blocked. The problem was bigger than I expected but at every step Raoul explained what needed to be done and gave me options. In the end several pipes needed to be replaced including the standing pipe. This was a massive job and was completed in one day due to the work of Raoul, Bryan and Anthony. Their supervisor Ed also came to help complete the job. I called Russo Bros to get a 2nd opinion regarding my central A/C unit. Another company told me I needed to replace parts if not the unit itself. Ryan A. the tech who came was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, courteous and took time to listen to my concerns. After doing the assessment, my place was just as clean and neat as before. Turns out that my a/c unit does not need to be replaced or parts needed, just needed a minor adjustment. His actions convinced me to use this company in the future. This is the second time we have used this company. Both times we have been very pleased. Chris came out for what we thought was a clogged sink. He pointed out shortly thereafter that the problem was in the main sewer pipe which was probably clogged and which was affecting all of the toilets, sinks, and showers in the house. Every time they were used, water would rise up into the sink. We had no idea this was happening. Chris pointed out many things and was very professional. He also wore booties over his shoes when inside the house. He made sure the main pipe was cleared of the clog as much as possible. He worked a long time finding and unclogging the clog. read more
