    Hot honey 16 x 16
    Mark M.

Russo's New York Pizzeria in Mesa hit the spot for a casual pizza night. We grabbed their big 16x16-inch Cup & Char Hot Honey pizza and a regular 12-inch cheese to compare. The hot honey pizza was the clear winner. It's a classic New York-style pie--super thin crust, foldable slices, with that nice crisp edge and a little chew. The pepperoni cups up beautifully, the cheese is melty and stretchy, and the sauce has good flavor. But what really makes it shine is the hot honey drizzled on top. It brings this perfect mix of sweet, spicy heat that plays so well with the salty pepperoni and rich cheese. Every bite felt exciting and balanced--not too sweet, not overwhelmingly spicy. I couldn't stop eating it. If you're into a little kick on your pizza, this one's a must-try. The plain 12-inch cheese pizza was fine, nothing more. Solid crust, decent sauce and cheese, good pull on the slices--but it was pretty basic. It's the kind of cheese pizza you'd get at most places: reliable if you're just craving something simple, but it doesn't stand out. The vibe at Russo's is laid-back and friendly, service was quick and nice, and it's clear they care about doing New York-style right. Just know going in that it's thin-crust territory--no thick, hearty slices here. If you're in the East Valley and want a tasty, flavorful pizza with a fun twist, the hot honey version is worth the drive. Solid spot overall.

Upscale dining in a casual atmosphere. Love this place! The food was so good Can't wait to try the pizza next time! Would be nice to see a pizza slice, half sandwich and soup combo! Service was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. You order at the register or via QR code on the table. Someone does serve you at your table and clean up when you leave, so tips are much appreciated!

I'll start with the good: I really enjoyed the pizza. Ordered 16" doppio pizza with extra pepperoni and added a drizzle of Mike hot honey. The pie was a little floppy, but still very enjoyable. Ate three slices, even though I would have been satisfied with two. It was good and I wanted more. The pizza sauce is sweet, which I really like. I definitely recommend. I was mildly underwhelmed with the beef shortrib ravioli. The raviolis themselves were tasty enough. However, the Marsala sauce was extremely watery. Marsala typically has a consistency a bit thinner than gravy. This was more like a soup broth. It was also just under $23, which I found to be a little steep, especially considering the underwhelming sauce and the thin ravioli. I would have happily paid around $15.00 for it, but I think $22.95 is a bit much for what you're getting. That said, that taste was good. I would recommend to anyone considering. You're going to pay a little more than your neighborhood pizza chain, but I would happily pay a little extra for a pie that I really enjoyed, where at other places I have to heavily modify my order for me to enjoy.

My family went after seeing this on the hot/new section on yelp. They're still in soft opening but it seemed like things were pretty well finalized. There's ample seating and it's a new building so everything was very nice. The menu seemed a little overwhelmingly large and with the "order up front or on app" there wasn't really an opportunity to get suggestions from the staff. As someone else noted the staff was friendly but didn't actively engage which seemed unusual for a soft launch Food came out pretty quickly once we ordered it. I really liked that they had build to order slices and all the toppings were available. So we got a slice, a medium pizza, and the baked ziti. The baked ziti we all agreed wasn't very good - far too much tomato and it was soggy, not much cheese or flavor. The pizza was good - sweet and soft dough, and the proteins were all perfectly cooked. The garlic bread in the beginning was interesting but not my favorite- too heavy on the garlic. I think this are in Mesa is going to really take off and I expect good things from Russo's.

The Brooklyner square pizza. Vodka sauce, cup and char pepperoni and basil

My family was looking for a new Pizza place to try on a Sunday afternoon and we remembered driving by this location months before. Russo's is in a new development just North of the South loop 202 (SanTan Freeway) on the East side of the street. It's part of the shops at the Revel Surf development. We received a friendly greeting as we walked in and had our pick of tables (except there was one family already there...would have been awkward to join them). There were only about 8 tables inside so not sure what it's like when it gets crowded. They do offer patio seating if the weather is accommodating. We sat near the front as the shop had nice natural lighting. We were in the mood for pizza but it was fun to explore the entire menu...they have a lot of other offerings- salads, soups, pastas, calzones, sandwiches, appetizers and more. The pizza choice was difficult as they have many styles and specialties. We chose The Brooklyner 16" square pizza (16" diameter so quite large) as we all love charred cupping pepperoni. It comes with a vodka sauce base which I enjoy but not the traditional rossa pizzas my boys would prefer. The ingredients were excellent- tasty cheese, basil and of course the pepperoni. The crust was good where it wasn't softer and super greasy. The biggest downside was the pizza was quite oily/greasy. Having only ordered the pizza and fountain drinks we didn't get a chance to review other items. I'd like to dine here again and get some different entrees to update my review.

My son and I visited opening weekend. The slices are humongous! We both enjoyed our pizzas. I ordered the sausage and ricotta. My son sticks to pepperoni but I look forward to trying other options and maybe ordering a full pizza. We also ordered tiramisu and cheesecake. I like the outdoor dining option. We just ordered carryout this time. It's reasonably priced for what you get. The staff was polite and welcoming.

Found a new pizza near by the house and had to try it out! I placed an order for 12" pizza (half pepperoni/half Canadian bacon) with 10 order hot buffalo wings to go. The host told me it would take about 30 minutes. I showed up about 15 minutes later to pay my bill and wait the remaining minutes. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting a little longer than that. Maybe 45/50 minutes? The staff seemed to have a back up of to go orders which slowed down service a bit. The staff did their best to keep up. Given the short staff in the restaurant, I didn't mind at all. When my order was finally ready, the staff were generous and provided a compensation, which I didn't expect but greatly appreciated. Got home and my husband and I enjoyed every last bite of our meal. The half and half thin crust was great! I would've like a crisper edge but over all great flavor of the pepperoni and Canadian bacon. The wings were also good. Despite the busy time, I'd come back to try the ravioli and more pizza.

Large arugula salad $13 and a 12" pie for $22.

Ordered to go. IMO not worth $40. Would have rather spent that somewhere else but I wanted to give this place a try claiming it's a NY pizzeria. No sir....not for me. Crust was soft and not thin enough actually it was chewy...I'll stop there. The arugula salad pictured was a "large" for $13. Pretty sure it was 4 oz worth. Next time I'll try something else.

Saw this place after our visit to Hooligans coffee so decided to stop by and check it out. The place is small inside. Not much seating inside but they also have outdoor seating which is also kinda limited but more space. It was cold outside so we sat inside. Service was great. A lady greeted us and told us about their grand opening special they had going on. They serve you with their focaccia which was pretty good! My kids didn't care for the oil dip because of all the spices it had a bit of a kick but my husband and I enjoyed it. My husband ordered a slice of their pepperoni pizza and my daughter also got a kids pizza. Their slices are pretty big but thin. My husband was good with just one and my daughter didn't even finish her other half. So the amount was plenty. I ordered the short rib ravioli. It was really flavorful just a tad bit on the salty side. My son ordered his chicken Alfredo fettuccine and when I tried his chicken it was a bit on the dry side but he enjoyed it. At the last of his pasta he did notice a piece of hair which was unpleasant and we did mention it to our server. She did give us an option to comp the dish or remake it but since my son practically ate most of it and didn't realize until after we asked to comp it. I understands things like that happen but I question if the people in the back making food are wearing hairnets at all while making the food?? Overall it was okay minus the hair in the food.

Happy to see that we're getting some more food options in the area! This is a small restaurant with a friendly staff. The food is good. I got the soup and sandwich, and the Tomato Pesto soup was so good. Perfect for dipping bread into! The chicken sandwich was decent but the chicken needs improvement. It was thin, a little dry, and it would've been nice if it was one piece instead of sliced. Overall had a good experience and plan to come again!

I was swindled by this place because I had read it was owned by a fellow EM neighbor and I love supporting local.. only to find out, $100, and an hour wait later, that it's a chain. We tried a regular pep for the kids, then 2 specialty pizzas. The jalapeño/pep one and the fig, prosciutto. We also tried their garlic knots. None of it was good. I'm also confused as to where the fig jam was.. not worth the money. I also ordered the pizza around 4pm, requesting the 6pm time slot. I do this often so I can ensure I don't have a 3 hour window- esp on Friday nights. I went in at 6pm and it wasn't ready until 6:50pm. The pizza was dry, their marinara sauce tasted like nothing.. I almost took a covid test thinking something was wrong with my taste buds. The kids liked the pep but they're 7 & 8.. none of the adults liked anything.

Ultimately I chose the Mesa store because it was the original and I wanted to see Mesa. We started with a basic garlic cheese bread appetizer and it was great. The calamari was tempting but we'll save that for next time. Wife ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and I ordered the usual Chicken Parmesan which came with a side of pasta. It was actually a harder choice than usual because I walked thru the restaurant before I ordered and so many dishes looked good, as did the pizza. But I went with the usual. Let's start with the wife, which truly speaks to the five stars because she frankly doesn't love Italian food. She eats it when I beg. And she loved it. She actually proactively mentioned she wanted to go back. That's like 7 stars right there it's so abnormal. I agree with her. The chicken parm was fantastic. Amazing. To top it off, our server was great and when I mentioned we were new to the area and it was our first trip she was so nice telling us the history of the original and the other stores, and the manager later stopped by to continue that conversation as the server told her we were new. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. Or 7 if you ask my wife.

We've always loved the food and have recommended it to so many people over the years. We recently saw the $25 family special that included a baked rigatoni, salad, and bread for 3-4 people, so we decided to give it a try and ordered curbside pickup. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed when we got home. The order only came with 4 small pieces of bread, and the baked rigatoni with sausage had only about one whole sausage sliced throughout the entire 3-4 person portion. For a meal advertised to feed 3-4 people, we expected there to be enough sausage for everyone to actually get a serving. It felt like the protein was cut way back, which made the meal feel incomplete. We're not writing this because we don't like Rigatony's - we genuinely do, and we'll most likely continue coming back because we've had so many great experiences over the years. We just hope this was a one-time issue or that they reconsider the portions for this special, because it didn't live up to the quality and value we've come to expect from a restaurant we've loved for so long.

The food, decor, and ambiance are fantastic. My family and I ate at L'Amore 2 nights in a row, and had we discovered it earlier in our vacation, we would have gone every single night (not kidding). While we've had equally delicious meals at other restaurants (all over the world), we have NEVER experienced such friendly, accommodating and welcoming service as what we received at L'Amore. I said to my husband "this must be what it feels like to be a member of a private club", and he agreed. We have an adult son with autism who will only eat a few dishes at restaurants. I called several restaurants to see if they serve chicken tenders and french fries; ALL of the restaurants we called said no-- until I called L'Amore. When I explained our situation, I was connected to the kitchen, explained our situation, and the chef immediately asked his staff if they had any potatoes to make french fries. (French fries are not on the menu). They said yes, and the chef said they'd be happy to make french fries for our son. When we arrived at L'Amore that evening, the owner/manager came by our table to welcome us. Our server, Sal, could not have been nicer, and addressed our son by his first name all evening. His co-manager assisted our son in accessing his iPad via their WiFi. When we returned the second night, the young male concierge welcomed us by name (even though we hadn't told him our name yet), and both managers visited our table that night. Sal was helpful in navigating the menu, recommended a wine by the glass that is typically only served as a bottle, and was incredibly kind and attentive all evening, without ever being intrusive. My husband and I were so moved by the kindnesses shown to our family. We'll never forget it, and look forward to returning to L'Amore on future vacations.
