It's a hidden gem! When you walk in, you feel like your home. Servers are cheerful, happy, helpful. The lasagna & Meatball sub were delicious, just the right of flavor, portions were good. The restaurant had cozy areas so Even if your there with a large party, you could have good conversation without talking loud to hear. After work, I met up with my neighbors from Golden Vista & friends from The Reserve at Lost Dutchman for our Tuesday Tagalong Lunch here at Sourdough. This was my very first time here. A hidden gem in a strip mall shopping center on Main Street & Sossaman Road in East Mesa, this place is very nice & decorated like an old school Italian eatery. The staff here is very welcoming & friendly & the service we had was fantastic! Our waitress even gave each of us a drink to go for our journeys home! Very thoughtful! I had a side garden salad with ranch & a medium order of spaghetti. Very good meal! I was so hungry that I spaced out getting pictures of my food! This restaurant is very clean & organized. Sourdough offers pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, wings, pasta...endless choices! They also have Coke products, so Coke Zero for the win! I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. The place is a little old-fashioned, but quaint. It is tucked away in a corner of a strip mall near what looks to be a high school. They probably get a lot of foot traffic from the students during lunch time. I haven't visited during that time of day. Service can be a little slow, even during non-lunch hours. I like the chew and texture of the pizza crust. The pizza sauce was not thick or overly marinated tasting. I couldn't really taste the sour of the sourdough. I didn't find it overly different from other good-tasting pizzas. read more

Hubby & I had dinner here last night for the first time. We arrived around 5:00. We were greeted & seated right away. All of the staff were very friendly & welcoming. The restaurant is like going to a family member's house, but also a restaurant. Very welcoming. We ordered waters. Hubby had a beer & I had a vodka and cranberry juice. The draft was broken so hubby got a bottle. It could have been a little colder. The cocktail was smooth, but a little light on the pour. We ordered a salad, full order of garlic bread with marinara sauce & a XL number 4 pizza (sausage) & added mushrooms. The salad picture is deceiving because it is a lot. It was good. The garlic bread is excellent. Like no other garlic bread we have had before. It's light & fluffy. It melts in our mouth. The marinara is so red & full of flavor. We love sourdough bread and the original crust did not disappoint. We could taste the sourdough. The toppings were plentiful. Service was good; just a little slow, but she was really busy. It's a drive for us, but we will be back for sure. read more

Ordered a half #9 and half #12 and three salads. Food was fresh and tasty, as it is typically based on past visits. Restaurant was clean. Staff was extraordinarily friendly. The restaurant was more full than I've ever seen it, even for a Friday dinner meal. Customers at surrounding tables seemed to be pleased with food and service, as well. Recommended. Full disclosure this follow-up is based on a party of 23. During our last visit my wife made reservations for a Ladies Lunch. The restaurant was confident they could accommodate a party this size. The restaurant clearly has the physical space but the Kitchen and table service fell short. Some orders went to other tables outside the party, other tables orders came to the party. The end result was not everyone enjoyed lunch at the same time. Lessons for us. Don't make reservations for large groups. We've been there before easily handling 6-8 and I feel it's important to credit them for this! There is a limit to the kitchens and server's capacity for large groups nothing more. Most important By no means does this reflect in the quality of their food, nor does it discourage us from patronizing them!! read more

My Yelp Bestie Chelsey H. and I decided to stop by this location for a weekday dinner. We both had visited prior, but had been years since but we recalled the pizza being delicious and unique in flavor. The parking lot is very spacious, and we were immediately welcomed by very festive decor for Halloween. This alone will likely have us return, so we can see what they do each holiday/season! To start we ordered a salad and some sides. When I saw potato salad on the menu, I knew I had to try as I love potato salad. Sadly, it was super sweet, like they used coleslaw dressing causing it to be sweet/tangy. It was definitely odd and we both ended up leaving it as we could not finish. Though that was odd, all the other food was amazing! I really love the taste of the sourdough pizza. The service was great even though it was a busier night. Our waitress was very attentive and loved the chocolate eyeballs for a spooky treat to accompany the bill. The prices are amazing and I'll definitely be returning soon when I'm craving a sourdough pizza! read more

Last night we were hit with a serious pizza craving, so naturally we rolled up to this Mesa classic. Been around since I moved here in '92, and honestly, it still slaps. Walking in, it's all cozy vibes -- Christmas decor still hanging around somehow made it feel extra homey. We got seated fast, drinks in hand, and then... the hard part: picking our pizza. We went with the #19 large (mushrooms, sausage, pepperoni) and a full order of garlic bread. Let me tell you -- the garlic bread is next level. Garlicky, buttery, basically happiness in carb form. Pizza? Chef's kiss. Crispy crust, toppings for days, zero flop. Every bite made me wonder why I don't eat here more often. If you're in Mesa and sleep on this spot, you're missing out. I've been going to sourdough pizza since it was a tradition to hit the pizza joint and then go to the movies next-door, at least 20+ years. I've gone back quite a few times in between then and now and it's the same old everything I remember from when I was a kid. I enjoy their pizzas. I ordered an extra-large pizza over the phone, but when I arrived it was only a large. When I pointed it out, the employee at the front immediately got argumentative and claimed that size "wasn't even an option" even though it clearly is (it's on the menu and literally on the wall). She tried to blame it on the crust, then told me I'd have to pay again to have the order corrected, on top of the incorrect pizza. The lack of professionalism was worse than the mistake itself. Instead of resolving the issue, I got attitude and dismissiveness. For a second visit, this was beyond disappointing. I won't be spending $40 here again just to be treated like that. read more

Sourdough Pizza Italian Restaurant, located in Mesa, AZ, has been a staple in the community for over 20 years. Offering a unique twist on traditional Italian cuisine, the restaurant prides itself on their signature sourdough pizza, known for its delicious flavor and crispy crust. This restaurant has always been a topic of discussion in my family. It was great to enjoy a nostalgic meal with my cousin, Diele K! Upon entering, the restaurant does feel dated but in a charming way. When we went, it was decorated for the applicable holiday - loved it! The parking lot is shared with surrounding businesses, but very large and easy to find a spot to without too much of a walk. The service was quick and friendly. Diele and I shared a garden salad to start, which had mushroom, cucumbers, tomatoes, and croutons ($6.30). The baked zucchini (half order $4.25/whole order $7.10) was simple, but still good and the potato salad was not really my favorite. It was too sweet, but that may be personal preference. We also had a cheese pizza, it was so good! I forgot the size we ordered - I think we did the 10 inch ($11.35)! I personally love sour dough and feel it makes a different in the crust. We went a week before Christmas all the shops were unlit, but the little Sourdough Pizza Restaurant at the corner of the strip. The Christmas of a dream to walk into for an eve. I felt like I was on a movie set. The pizza was fresh, hot, and hard to miss atop all the spices underneath our glistening, silver pizza pan. The Blue Moon pitcher lasted the eve and the slight taste of orange matched perfectly with the Christmastry. Out of a dream. I love this place. Thank you for the pizza. A fairly small store next to a high school where their specialty is a sourdough crust on pizza. The server was very friendly and accommodating even though we came 40 minutes before close. We got the garlic bread and a xl pizza half Hawaiian and half Italian sausage and mushroom. The garlic bread was soft with good garlic profile flavor and the marinara sauce was also good. The sauce had a robust tomato flavor with a good amount of acidity. I enjoyed the sourdough flavor on the pizza and the toppings were good as well. I think I would've liked more toppings on the Hawaiian pizza as there wasn't very many bacon or pineapples. The crust was flavorful, chewy without being too hard. We USED to frequent this restaurant A lot. We absolutely LOVE the waitress Heather. But after tonight we will NEVER go back! I ordered the lasagna to try something different. Came out with mushrooms in the sauce. No where in the menu does it state mushrooms. Do to food allergy I could not eat it. The waitress apologized and I ordered a pizza. When the pizza was ready the owner brought it out. Gave us major attitude about paying for the lasagna and if we were taking it home. I really wanted to tell him to shove it up his ass, but we paid for it and left. Again we will NEVER go back to this restaurant and honestly hopes it does not survive. You do NOT treat customers like he did! You can tell the waitress was VERY embarrassed about it. read more

This pizza joint is a hop, skip, and a jump from our house, we figured we would give it a try. We are SO glad that we did. The staff is on point, cleaning and sanitizing the facility constantly which was great to see. Note to self, they don't have Moscato, which surprised me, however, they did have a full bar with a Strawberry Margarita, so all is forgiven. That more than made up for the lack of my favorite wine. Everything was served very quick, the pizza was pipping hot, but not so hot that you couldn't touch it, which was nice. We both ate two slices and brought the rest home for another meal. We enjoyed ourselves immensely here. The people are amazing. The ambiance is so tranquil, it was a very peaceful experience!
