May 10, 2026 was our second time Dining at Mackey's, arriving late. Last time we got in just before…read morethe dining room locked up. Tonight, as Sweet D touched the handle, the door was locked. But...the basement bar keeps the grill open until 1 a.m. Service was excellent, polite, friendly, helpful. They have a good Non-Alcoholic beer selection. We each got a Guinness NA. We ordered a steak sandwich with tater tos, adding a side salad. The tots were crispy golden. The salad was fresh, crouton-y with fresh tiny tomatoes, cucumber and grated cheeses. The sandwich pickle slice was crispy, the sandwich good. Will we return? Next time we visit Ontario before 8 p.m.

Never been one that was anything less than absolutely professional, got my order right and was cordial and warm. Every dang time! This is no bunk. I am happy to part with some a my cabbage here. If yer drifting through Ontario Oregon it's duck soup to pull the ol' boiler off the hiway for an hour or so, gas up, and fill yer ownself up at Mackey's at the same time. I never had anything I didn't like off the menu. Look around when yer in dis joint. Might see Hammer and a couple of his brothers sucking down a lil' grub, you nevah know. Even if yas don't there's good folks here and good company. OK, I'm done chinning.

The building is an old gas station. Plenty of seating inside and out. There is a terrace out front with rolling garage doors and also a spot out back that is dog friendly. Nicely decorated place and clean restrooms. The hostess will seat you and give you menus, then you order at the counter. They also bring the food to your table. They have four beers on draft and more in bottles, along with wines. I can see this place as a local hangout after work. I went with a friend of mine. He ordered the Grizzley Burger and I got the Cluck Cluck Nashville chicken samminch. I won't rate his, but he said it was quite tasty. The chicken sandwich was good, but I expected a little more heat in the sauce. The chicken portion was good sized, but there was still a bit too much bread to meat ratio for my liking. One other thing, we both noticed the bun being a little dry. As a matter of fact, they started breaking apart while eating. Personally, I would serve the chicken on Texas Toast. Of course, that creates logistic problems. We did split an order of fries, and they were good. They are not cripsy though, so be aware if that is what you want. There is also a fitty cent charge for fry sauce. I'll return with the squeeze and check it out again for sure. The staff was great!!

This is our family favorite spot to eat. My boyfriend eats there at least once a week. The meat is always tender and I love that they have lots of BBQ sauces to choose from. Make sure to try a few, they might surprise you! Our favorite meat to get is the brisket. We also loved the mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes. My dad LOVES the beans. Went to the Rustic Pig in Emmett, ID about a week after they opened. Ordered the three meat plate with two sides. The pulled pork was good but the brisket was tough and dry, the chicken was very dry. The sides (coleslaw and bbq beans) were about like what you get from the deli at a grocery store. Haven't been back since but hopefully they have gotten better. read more
