    Beef Short Rib Stroganoff

I am new to the area this year and this is my favorite restaurant in town. I've loved everything I've ordered, especially the short rib pasta and the mussels (which are on the specials menu and have a different flavor each time). The staff are all friendly, professional, and attentive. The cocktails are expensive but delicious (the martinis are the way to go!)

We decided to try a new restaurant for our anniversary and we were both so impressed by the food and the service here at Suna! The ambiance was ideal...a nice quiet dinner for two in the dining room. For starters, before we even looked at our menu, our super friendly waitress, Emily brought over fresh bread (in a bag) and olives with fresh butter and took our drink order. She brought the beverages right over whilst we continued mulling over the menus. For an appetizer, we decided to try the pork potstickers, and they were delicious! The sauce was particularly tasty- with just a hint of spicy. The pork stuffing was juicy and flavorful and the wrapping was thin and soft...prepared very well. I ordered the Roast Half Chicken (with parmesan bacon brussel sprouts). The presentation was so gourmet and the taste was even more amazing. The chicken was cooked to perfection- juicy and tender and was further complimented by the seasoned brussel sprouts with the crispy bits of bacon blended in. Delicious and loved the combination of textures. Hubby ordered the Tips & Frites with a side Caesar Salad. I can't believe this was a side salad because it was HUGE. I partook in some and it was fresh, cool & crisp with the right amount of dressing- not overly saturated, but very generous with the cheese. Speaking of generous servings, hubs was very pleased by the serving size of the steak tips. I tried some bites, and it was super tender, like butter. Incredibly delectable. The fries were also perfect- crispy throughout the meal. For dessert, we decided to share the warm cinnamon bun with brown sugar ice cream, fresh fruit and whipped cream. It was definitely made to be shared and it was to die for! What an incredible meal! We enjoyed our entire experience at Suna. Emily was super attentive and extremely pleasant. And the food was phenomenal. Highly recommend this establishment. You will not be disappointed.

My new favorite local restaurant. Since covid reservations required even if you want to just sit at the bar so call ahead. We started with warm French baguette slices. Omgggg so good. They had a few olives and a pepperoncini to nibble on while we waited for our food. Large selection of cocktails, wine, spirits. They have food specials. We ordered the large ahi tuna. Pieces were on the thicker side. Edges were seasoned with a pepper rub. Ahi was seared. It was really delicious. I had 6 Wellfleet oysters with a strawberry kiwi mignonette. I really enjoyed them. I prefer briny oysters but they were yummy. My husband had the filet mignon with augratin potatoes and asparagus. Never mind the steak knife because we could of sliced them with a butter knife. I had the marinated steak tips and finally found a restaurant where they actually tasted marinated. This came with seasoned green beans and parmesan fries. The portion seemed endless. I had it for lunch the next day and still had pieces left over! We were too full for dessert but my goal is to return until I have tried everything on the menu.

This is a great high end restaurant in the Sunapee area. The food and atmosphere were just great! Will definitely come back here again.

Very nice restaurant for our date night. We made reservations earlier in the day and were seated immediately when we arrived. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive to our needs. Decor is minimal but we were there for the food! My boyfriend had the steak "Tips and Frites" with green beans and parmesan fries. I had the Beef Short Tib Stroganoff with a lot of peas, onions, mushroom, and Papardelle pasta. We enjoyed our meal and I look forward to trying a different entrée next time

This was definitely the nicest restaurant in town. If you are finishing up skiing on Sunapee, definitely come here for a nice dinner afterwards. We started off with trying two oysters. We've never had an oyster before and loved them so much, definitely oyster fans now because of this place. Next, we had The Chips, which I thought were delicious, I'm a HUGE blue cheese fan so it was extremely flavorful. Afterwards, we forced ourselves to eat our entrees (we were full from the chips, huge portion). I got the Mixed Grill which is a combination of shrimp, turkey tips, and steak tips. The steak was my favorite, so delicious. The shrimp was a little spicy so I had to dip it into the potato salad. I had to take a box home with leftovers because it was a huge serving size, amazing for the price!! My husband got turkey tips with the potato au gratin & he's a big fan of potato au gratin so he loved his meal. The service was nice and friendly & I loved that the menu had GF to identity what was gluten free.

If you know me at all, and have read my reviews, you know my comfort food is a good burger and fries. I had forgotten how good Black Rock's burgers are! Perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. The fries were plentiful and delicious, and their bottled root beer was also quite good. Our server, Sue, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I am happy to have rediscovered Black Rock and first will be my "go to" restaurant whenever I am in the area.

But much like my dreams of finding consistently good Mexican food ever since I moved to the East Coast in 1995, a decent steak joint is nearly impossible unless you want to pay handsomely. Enter Black Rock Steakhouse. They want to be Black Angus, but fail on several points: ambiance, and... well... the meal overall. We got the tomahawk steak (split between two, it was beyond plenty). Thing is? It's promised "on a hot rock" - no hot rock. Also? Never have I ever had a Caesar salad with mozzarella. And the dinner rolls? Not only were they dry as a bone, they were also cold. Same with the Beef Tataki appetizer. Cold. The 'mint julep?" Barely a fleck of mint, no sugar - just watered down bourbon. And don't get me wrong, it's not that the food is terrible, it's not... it's 'just okay.' And if I want a date night with a great meal? Let's just say these guys appear to be thriving on being the only game in town, which is a total bummer, because they could be so much more.

To the point where the hanger steak I ordered developed that glazed like look. We returned last night with some family from out of town hoping to show them a good place to eat. We arrived at 6pm We were seated as a party of 7 by 620 due to a canceled reservation. The problems started with our drinks. We ordered three sprite. All three came back without a LICK of syrup in them. No big deal that happens right. So after waiting about 25 minutes after getting our drinks we are finally blessed with presence from wait staff, who took BOTH OUR ENTREE AND APP ORDERS. The apps were great although we waited WAY TOO LONG. When the waiter arrived he stated the "kitchen was backed up". We were sat at 620 and was not severed our entrees until 813! The wait makes since as it was evident the host was not seating sections right. And wait staff were putting in 5 tickets at a time. But the wait can only be justified if the food is good and the service is on point. My brother who I was treating while home from out of state ordered the bone in ribeye which retails at $56. Not only did we wait forever for our food, when it arrived it was not prepared. He ordered a MEDIUM COOK. THE WAITER CONFIRMED "SO WARM PINK CENTER". This steak was brought out seared only. You could see the white fat striation on the meat still and the center WAS BARLEY WARM TO TOUCH. As it's such an expensive cut and amazing steak we asked it be sent back and PREPARED PROPERLY. At this point the waiter states "I'll have him throw it back on the grill for a few minutes." I told him it would need far longer to go from RAW to medium. About 4 minutes later he brings this steak out. It's been microwaved, something obvious by the shrinkage of the steak and the greying of the sear. Then had to gull to PUSH THE BONE UP TO THE STEAK TO HIDE THE STILL RAW MEAT. We got it back and it was still RAW. Through all of this the waiter was doing nothing to accommodate us. WE had to tell him to take it off the bill and all he did was offer us a shitty "wagyu" burger. My brother took him on the offer because at this point we're 2hrs in and he's starving. The burger was sent out UNDERCOOKED. HE ORDERED WELL AND GOT MEDIUM. The lettuce was BROWN and they BURNT THE BUN. I can't help but think this was done solely out of retaliation for sending back the chefs TERRIBLE WORK. I've attached photos. Unfortunately for us, The Oak Room fell far from the tree family. Upon entering the vintage estate, you are met by 5/5 ambience and a truly enticing looking dining experience. This is the point where our dining experience peaked. Read on if you want the full tea. In a nutshell, our evening was a series of disappointments painted onto a theme of incredibly slow service. Regarding the service, at the 1:40 mark past arrival, we had still not received our entrees. We watched all the tables around us wait and wait for their checks, only to have to finally request the check. It was not busy. My small 6oz water glass sat empty most of our 2+ hours there. With how salty our food was, this wasn't good. Service 2/5. For the food, 4/5. We ordered the beet salad hors d'oeuvres, which was perfect. An amazing plate. The butternut squash soup was incredibly sweet and not what we expected. Tasted like 50/50 squash/brown sugar. The duck entree and tenderloin steak were quite good, but not memorable. $65 for 6oz steak and no side. Was the crust of the side bread salted? Was the steak actually salted? Hm. More water please. Now the intangibles. Weird intangibles. So during this 1:40 waiting for the entree, I spilled my red wine and unfortunately my wife had a white shirt on. ‍ Good thing it wasn't a first date! A little while later a man walks up to our table and says Hi. Hi we say. My wife and I glance at each other, both thinking "who the hell is this?" Normal clothes, no name tag. Next he asks how was our food? Oh ok, manager or owner. Good to know. Well, we hadn't received our food yet and took the opportunity to ask if we could have it. Oh yeah, he looks at my wife's wine covered shirt and says "I see you have plenty of wine" and asks me if I would like to order another glass of wine. Did the owner just make fun of us for spilling wine and ruining a shirt? Yes he did. For the inconvenience of sitting there with no entree and rarely water for 1:40, they offered to reduce the check. They took off the glass of wine that I didn't get to drink. Throughout all this, I'm sitting in a broken chair that keeps catching my sweater and causing a snag. Overall, our experience was 2/5. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I'll rate it 3/5. If I want to spend 2 hours spending $200 and getting made fun of by a restaurant manager, I'll be back. If not, I'll go elsewhere next time.

After we finally ordered drinks, we waited 20 minutes only to discover our drinks sitting at the bar--our martinis had already become warm. As for the food, the Rib Eye steak was perfect, but the Shrimp and Scallop Scampi was terrible, and the other pasta dishes with lobster were just okay. Overall, it was a disappointing experience with mediocre food and inattentive staff. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
