The place is super busy. Our party waited for a long time for a table. The service was bad. We needed to ask around for the server to place an order after a long wait. When we were done, we needed to wait for the server to finish her casual talking with the guests at another table before we can get our bill. Hope the training of the servers will improve at this place. The food here is good though. Prices are reasonable too. Fried okra (3.5/5): I don't find this appetizer often at other restaurants so I want to give this a try. The batter was just right. It was still crispy when it was served. Butternut squash soup (3.5/5): The taste is a little bit bland but I like its creaminess. Chicken wings (4/5): I love the flavor and the tenderness of the chicken wings. I would like to have more after finished the dish. Oxtail entree (4/5): The portion is general really good with the price. It marinated well for the flavor of the oxtail which I like. It served with Mac & Cheese and Zucchini which I love the combination. Meat loaf entree (3/5): The taste of the meatloaf is just ok compared with the oxtail entree. I don't think I will order this again. This place is not a bad choice for food if you care less of the service. :)

You definitely have to try their Navajo bread. It is so good! We ordered an extra side of just the bread for $3.50, and it comes on a huge plate. I'd probably skip the Spam fried rice, though. It's $22 a plate and the portion is okay but not shareable my 11-year-old finished the whole thing himself! If you're craving fried rice, you're better off at a Chinese spot. On the other hand, the smoked tri-tip Reuben is a winner and comes with a side of fries.

We were here for lunch, it seems to be a very popular place, even at 11:15, it's quite a good amount of customers inside. We were seated and ordered immediately. I got the shrimp taco and he got the flatbread. It's a little wait until the food comes out, but it totally worth the wait. Everything is better than we expected, so I'm giving a full 5 stars!

Very clean establishment with sweet workers. I was in the mood for soup and salad when I found this gem of a spot. I ordered the mahi mahi with couscous salad (special of the day) and butternut squash soup. My fiancé ordered the beet salad, pork belly buns, chili with fry bread (not included in picture, but the bread was the same size as the plate) and a drink called the phoenix. Total was $102 for everything with the drink being $15-16. Everything is made in house, only complaint was the pork belly sauce being a little salty.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of Rustic Thistle. We had just finished an Antelope Canyon tour and found this place nearby. We were craving something healthy and were delighted by their fresh and delicious salads. Everything was perfectly cooked and so fresh! Our service was also fantastic and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. 100% recommend this restaurant.

We were lucky enough to find this Gem our first morning in Page. We were coming back from a morning hike and arrived about 1030am. They serve breakfast till 11am. At 11am they switch over to lunch. The menu is large, diverse, and the food all delicious! Or server day one, left a small pot of coffee for me. The second day, the server didn't. We were in main dining room both days in a large comfy booth. They have 3 dining rooms plus a Bar-Lounge area. Next time i am here, I will get the Croque Madame again. Its Devine!! The oxtail was super flavorful, but messy. The restrooms are in back, past the kitchen. I imagine when the restaurant is packed, that hallway is busy!!

CS is excellent, Chelsey B our Server was fantastic, very informative, very attentive and extremely nice and personable. Had the House Old Fashion-It was Superb, Prickly Pear Tini was okay, a little strong for my wife. Meatloaf was okay, Crab Boil was excellent Ambience is very nice and establishment was super clean and bright inside.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday around 1pm with a group of six. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait, even though there were plenty of tables open. After about 30 minutes they asked if we'd want to squeeze into a booth... The booths are huge so we had no problem fitting, but it was annoying we had to wait all that time for nothing. Once we got seated, the experience improved. Our server was helpful and quick, and our food ended up coming out pretty quickly. One note: if you want breakfast, make sure to get here early. They were no longer offering breakfast by the time we sat, and I think the waitress mentioned they stop serving it at 11. I really wanted breakfast, but ended up getting the grilled chicken plate with rice and veggies. The chicken portion was large, and pretty flavorful, although a bit overcooked. The rice was delicious, but the vegetables were horrible and lacked seasoning. Overall a decent option, but not a place I'd return to.

Ok WOW!!! Phoenix residents visiting the beautiful page and we didn't expect to have one of the best breakfasts ever! Husband and I had breakfast here on Friday morning, greeted and seated right away! The service was kind and very quick! Additionally the location is very clean and cozy. We ate the Oxtail Skillet, Cajun Fried Chicken Benny and a side of cheesy grits. WOOOOW!!! I'm not even the biggest fan of oxtail but it was so savory, juicy, and tender - we were both blown away! The fried chicken was flavorful and tender, but the buttermilk biscuit is the hero here! Everything came together so nicely! Why aren't we eating this version of Benedict more often?! We both can't get over that flaky and delicious biscuit. The grits were a little bland, not our preference, but glad we tried it. We also had to vanilla lattes, also fast, yummy, and hit the spot. Don't sleep on Rustic Thistle - so good!!!

Overall we had a good breakfast here. I had the ham and egg omelette with garlic potatoes and a cup of coffee. Food was good, low key location and the people working were very friendly.

    Chili with fry bread
    Alison L.

Casual diner. The chili with the flatbread was amazing. The chili was so flavorful, and the fry bread was incredible to dip in it. Skip everything else. The Navajo tacos are just the fry bread with their chili, lettuce, tomatoes, onion and a little cheese on top. I prefer just dipping the fry bread into the chili because the bread will stay crispy. The oxtail flatbread was nothing special. Sadly, the gumbo was really unappetizing, as the rue was extremely thick and flavorless.

Walking into Birdhouse, a converted drive-through restaurant, at 6PM, we were greeted with a short…read moreline wrapping around the order counter. It moves pretty quickly since the menu, full of fried chicken and staple sides, isn't too complicated. Birdhouse is a counter service establishment so the food doesn't take very long at all to cook and assemble. In our case it took only about 10 minutes. Thigh + Leg, Original ($11) - Instead of the advertised thigh and leg, the meal came with 3 pieces of chicken - one leg and 2 thighs! It wasn't just us; I saw other customers also getting three pieces. Finally a restaurant that underpromises and overdelivers! The breading on the chicken is a really dark golden brown, initially making me assume it was overfried. Biting into the breading, a really strong crunch shatters on the teeth. It's a hard crunch vs. the crisp that a normal fried chicken skin exhibits. Perhaps they enhance the mixture with rice flour and evercrisp? It's really quite amazing especially with how thin the breading looks. Even with the dark color, the interior remains moist and juicy; in fact, upon my first bite, a stream of chicken juice shot up onto my glasses! The meat has clearly been brined as it's super flavorful, and there's plenty of salt and pepper mixed into the breading to add even more oomph. The fat is rendered nicely and everything is served piping hot. They really know what they are doing with their chicken! A meal comes with one side of which we went with the Seasoned Fries. These are crinkle cut fries sprinkled with seasoning salt. The fry level isn't the most even, with some pieces being a little more dried out, but most still having tender interiors. I'd probably go with a different side in the future. (5/5) Thigh + Leg, Honey Butter ($11) - I believe this is literally the same fried chicken but with honey butter melted over the top. It adds some richness and sweetness, but is otherwise the same excellent fried chicken. For the side with this meal, we went with the Broccoli Salad w/ Bacon. It's pieces of crunchy raw broccoli mixed with tiny pieces of bacon in a light creamy dressing with a bit of sweetness. (5/5) Birdhouse makes their sauces in house which they supply for most orders. The first is their special honey mustard which, as the name implies, is sweet and mustardy. The second is a buttermilk ranch, creamy and tangy. It's very fresh and seems to have fresh herbs mixed in. After several days eating bland (but very fresh!) food in the Navajo Nation, we finally had a meal with actual seasoning! We were impressed enough that we went back the next day to try the final chicken flavor. This time it was earlier at 5PM and for some reason the line was even longer! Yet it took less than 5 minutes for the food to arrive. Thigh + Leg, Spicy ($11) - The base chicken is the same texture and flavor as above. The only difference is a liberal dusting of cayenne pepper spice mixture on top. They don't use any hot oil, so it's only dry spice on the outside, applied right after frying so it all sticks on. The powder is spicy enough to heat up the mouth and lips, but isn't enough to get me sweating at all. I'd compare to something between mild and medium at a hot chicken shop. There's just a hint of sweetness in the mixture - I actually wished it was boosted up a bit more. Still great fried chicken though! (5/5) Birdhouse really serves some great fried chicken. Reasonably priced, delicious food, great portions, there's not much more I could ask for. It was so good that we ended up eating here both nights we stayed in Page! Bathrooms - Single unisex room outside on the back side of the restaurant.

We decided on Gone West Family Restaurant based on their solid reviews and we thought that American food (especially with a Western theme) would be the way to go. When in Rome! We stopped by on a Saturday evening for dinner. Parking is easy in the complimentary lot they share with several other businesses including a Chinese restaurant right next door. Ambiance (4.5/5): Pretty much what I was hoping for. Gone West is a spacious restaurant with one large dining room and another large dining room. The difference? The one in the back has a stage where they play live music. So, if you want a quieter atmosphere, choose the first room. If you want to enjoy some live music while you dine and drink, choose the back room. We sat in the back room. A band played various covers while we were there which we enjoyed. The decor is also awesome with a lot of Western and country decor including John Wayne, Johnny Cash, and more. Service (4/5): The hostess was super nice and accommodating which was a nice way to kick off the experience. Our waiter was pretty solid. He could have stopped by a little more frequently, but overall, did quite well. Drinks (4/5): I went with an Arnold Palmer (they only had pink lemonade unfortunately) so not a lot to right home about. With that being said, they have a decent beer list and several cocktails. Food (5/5): I went with the Chicken fried steak sandwich with spiral fries. CFS on a sandwich?! I couldn't say no. Country fried steak is one of my favorite Southern dishes, but I've never had it on a sandwich before. Check out their concept: breaded steak on a bed of mashed potatoes topped with green onions, gravy, and a fried egg with your choice of side. This was a great sammie! It was quite messy, but given how delicious it was, I didn't mind. The fries were delicious too, and it was a generous portion. The type of portion where you can easily have leftovers. Everything I was hoping for and more in this dining experience. While the food options in Page aren't vast (and as impressive as larger cities), Gone West should be at the top of your list!

Food arrived quick, server was friendly...but disappointing across the board on the meal. Two kids got burgers, hard and lacked flavor. One got bbq pork, just didn't taste great. For the price, food needed to be better. And then took forever to get check to cash out.
