This is my go-to spot for fish and a taste of Southern cooking! I've been coming here for years and still can't get enough. I usually go for the catfish or shrimp basket--the catfish basket comes with four huge, thick pieces of fish that always taste fresh. It even includes a few hush puppies, which is a nice touch. Now, if you're expecting the full Southern experience like you'd get in LA or Mississippi--raw onions, crackers on the side, and a wide selection of hot sauces--you might be a little let down. They only offer Tabasco for heat. Their main attraction is the crab and seafood boils, which always look amazing, but since my family isn't into seafood or Southern food, I usually come solo. The portions are too big for one person, otherwise I'd be all over them. The service is top-notch. Ask for Spasa--she treats you like royalty every time. I really really wanted a shrimp boil but went with a broiled seafood platter instead to keep my gout from flaring up. It came with a heaping pile of serviceable fried rice and tasty steamed broccoli. This was very unexpected during my business trip to Hurricane. My colleague and I were looking for something local and possibly a seafood theme. Rusty Crab Daddy is a locally owned restaurant situated in what looks like a renovated fast food restaurant. Brightly lit with furniture typical for quick service restaurants. Our server was Holly who did a great job explaining how it works. I would compare this restaurant to the franchise Hood & Reel Cajun. You place your seafood order and it comes out in a sous vide bag. You first decide which seafod you want and how much. You then decide the type of seasoning and heat intensity. I ordered the 1/2 lbs of snow crab and 1/2 lbs of headless shrimp (you can also get shrimp with heads for a bit less). I ordered the Crab Daddy's Special which is mixing all sauces together. I did it medium since I wasn't looking for too much spice. It was perfect. Great seasoning/sauce with plenty of minced garlic. They serve bottled beer as well. I had the Pacifico for $5.50 each. We are so glad Yelp pointed us in the right direction for a birthday dinner. We were staying in St. George while we spent all of our daylight hours hiking in the parks nearby, and weren't sure how seafood was going to go in a landlocked state. But because we were celebrating, it seemed appropriate to go big and get our hands dirty. My whole family is pleased with our experience and can't wait to come back again. We went with the holiday special (Crab Daddy Special seasoning, spice level hot), since the regular house special seemed like a bit too much food for us. The seasoning was really rich and the spice level was exactly what I expected for being the third of four heat levels: I like a lot of spicy but had one person who doesn't eat much spicy food, and we were both satisfied with the heat being not overwhelming but still present. Potatoes were tender, sausage and corn were cooked great without going rubbery, and the HB eggs were something I've never had in a boil before but am going to add to my homemade ones moving forward. The seafood selection was done well for the most part. Headless shrimp were easy to peel, crawfish were large enough that we could peel them without much struggle, and the snow crab clusters were just okay. They did feel over-boiled as the shells weren't cracking, and I wrestled with most of them when the cracker just smushed the shell. The lobster tail was nice, but at MP, I wouldn't get it as ours was fairly small. The only downside is the butter started to congeal as we slowed down, and it got to be kind of gross. But I think this is only an issue when it's 40 degrees outside. We also got a platter of grilled flounder with Cajun rice and broccoli because we wanted a bit of fish, and there wasn't an option to do a boil with fish. It was worth the addition, since it complimented the saucy boil well. Everything came out hot, smelling divine, and rather quickly considering how most of the tables were filled at 7pm the day after Christmas. We asked for some lemon wedges and they were brought out so quickly, and the staff sang to my dad and brought out a platter of beignets to help him celebrate! First time ever having a seafood boil and all I can say is wow! This place exceeded my expectations. When we walked in, we were greeted by very friendly employees. We were seated in a comfortable booth shortly after. Our waitress was attentive and very kind. She helped answer a lot of our questions, as this was our first time at this type of restaurant. We settled for a boil of clams, headless shrimp, and crab. We got the Cajun seasoning with mild heat. We ordered the hush puppies to start. They were just like I remembered while living in North Carolina! Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Our food came out shortly after and it looked incredible. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted even better. The garlic and the seasoning was sooo good. It was so yummy to just dip everything in it. I loved the sausage and potatoes as well. Diner style restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Tables are covered with a butcher paper for cleaning reason. The seafood served here is the draw, we came for a snow crab and headless shrimp boil special. It contains one pound of headless shrimp, one snow crab cluster, 2 potatoes, 3 sausage slices and 1 corn on the cob. You can add additional potatoes, corn, sausage and seafood. We chose the garlic butter on the side and a medium spice level boil. They serve it right out of the boil with extra boil sauce for dipping, perfect for the shrimp. They give you a great crab cracker tool and a pry open tool to get every piece of crab. A plastic bib is a necessary accessory to keep your clothes clean. The boil flavor was perfect and sharing between two of us was the perfect amount of food. The highlight of the meal was our server Krista, she welcomed us, got our drinks and explained the menu. She never let our drinks run out and offered drinks to go when we finished. She gave us the proper level of attention and answered any questions we had. Ended up buying Rusty Crab Daddy T-shirts (very reasonable at $15 each) and she recommended upsizing since they were 100% cotton and will shrink. Also ordered the beignets for desert, great yeasty deliciousness with powdered sugar. They have a napkin dispenser at the table and provide you with a large cleaning wipe at the end of the meal.
