How do you mess up a simple cocktail? For the last night in St. George, we decided to go to one of my parents' favorite places. The food is great. Based on that alone, I would give this place a 5, but unfortunately, everything else was below par. The service was slow, as was every other restaurant in St. George. I ordered a Manhattan, and lo and behold, I received some type of smoked old fashioned. When I asked for a new one, Dom, our waiter, said, "Sure, but you'll probably just get the same thing." That surprised me, and I was like, "Go talk to the bartender and see if they can make it." But Dom was pretty certain that, I'd get the same thing. So I ordered something else, and it came out fine. I came here for a business meeting, and it was a great experience. We had a smaller, curated menu to accommodate a larger group, which worked perfectly. The salmon was cooked beautifully very tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The salad was incredibly fresh, and everything felt well thought out. The staff was especially accommodating and attentive, which made hosting a group easy and enjoyable. I've ate here twice before this and had very good experiences. Not this time, we got seated quickly and ordered drinks, ice tea for me and a cocktail for her. Our waitress seemed impaired to be honest. She brought my iced tea and totally blew off her cocktail. We ordered food and when the food came we had to ask about her cocktail, and got a very a confused look. She went to the bar and came back a bit later with her cocktail AFTER we had already finished eating. The only good thing is they didn't charge for the cocktail and she honestly was blaming the bar for the issue. Sad to say this place isnt what I've been used to. read more

Upon arriving at the restaurant, I discovered that there was no other customers except a private party, and most of the servers were racing around the restaurant, trying to leave their shift as soon as possible. When am I going to learn my lesson. I need to start looking at reviews before I eat at restaurants. I ordered a filet mignon medium and it came almost well. The beautiful waitress who was wonderful had it re-ordered and it came back medium rare on a sizzling plate so instead of returning it, because my husband was almost done with his meal, I just finished cooking the filet mignon on the plate in the greasy butter. I really wanted the pork chop, especially since the place is called chops and they were already out of them at 7 PM. The service was great, but I would not recommend this restaurant and feel bad for the servers who have to serve this chef's food. read more

I went to this restaurant numerous times about 5 years ago and it was great. This time not so great. Service was excellent. Wife and I both ordered filets, both were about 1/2 inch think and cooked well done, which neither of us ordered them that way. It really looked liked they cut a nice thick steak in half. So I was staying in St. George for work, my hotel was right next-door to ribs and chop. So I thought I'd give it a try. I saw that they have elk, I've never had it and have always wanted to try it so I gave it a try. When I arrived, I was greeted quickly by the hostess and the manager. I was seated in the bar, which I was OK with waitress came by. I ordered my elk and came with two sides. I took a Caesar salad and a carrot soufflé. The first Caesar salad that came to me was pathetic. The dish in which it came in was warm and the salad itself was wilting and was brown. The managing he by saw that I hadn't eaten. It asked me what the problem was. I explained to him he wasn't happy. He told me he would bring me a new one. He brought me a new one. The plate was ice cold the lettuce was fresh and cold. This one was edible. I received my entrée and I have to say the elk was very good however, I noticed that on the backside of the sliced elk, it looked like they had put it into a sauté plan to warm up the steak as the steak wasn't very warm the cream spinach was excellent. However, the carrot soufflé was anything but a carrot soufflé. It was so sweet from the added brown sugar that when the waitress asked me if I wanted a dessert, I told her I already had it with the carrot soufflé, the ambience of the place is very nice. You feel like you're in a lodge in the mountains. Overall, I didn't think the food was all that good for the price that they are charging. I kind of wanna give them a lower star rating, because they screwed up my wine order so badly, but their cuts of meat and the freshness of their food really does make up for the absolutely terrible table service they offer. I've come here twice, and the first time we ate inside, we were not impressed by the service, nor the ambience of the interior of this chop house. It reminiscent of a post-industrial hotel lobby. But as we left that evening, we noticed that the patio was kind of rad. Plus, you can bring your dog. We knew we would be back. Any place that allows you to have your pet on the patio while you eat an amazing steak is my kind of place. The ambience on the patio is so good. We brought our dog the second time, and Lucky just had the BEST day. And they were totally understanding that he was being a little bit of a weirdo as he lurched through the restaurant door on his way to the patio, so they earned extra stars for that. I felt bad for my very nice server, but he just doesn't seem like he really understands the importance that a well-timed glass of quality wine served with someone's food - actually juuuuust before the food arrives - makes a meal that much better. One drinks wine with their food, not after. After waiting over an hour on the beautiful patio for our dinner order, we only got a glass of wine because we reminded him as he served our food. It took an additional 15 to 20 minutes after my entree had been served, and it looked like it had been sadly plopped into an unpolished water cup, and was just kind of gross to drink. I guess this is the kind of place that figures wine exists to get drunk on, and not to enhance food. I still like the food here because the cuts of meat are amazing, and the sides are fresh prepared. It's a clean, pleasant restaurant. Had the stuffed mushrooms for appetizer. It was very good. Then we shared a rib eye which was the right idea. The steak was more than enough. We had a party of 5 and we were seated quickly on the patio. We got a table next to the blazing fire pit. One of the servers turned it off, thankfully. They didn't have any blinds outside so half of our party were blinded and sweaty. Our server was SLOW! Three other tables arrived after us but all got their food before us. This is our 2nd time at this chain restaurant. Our first time was in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We came at dinner time so it was busy. But not busy enough to walk away. The lobby was spacious, so we could see a few available tables. My wife saw that there was a booth available in the lounge area, so she asked the hostess if we could sit there. Without hesitation, she said,'It's yours', and we were seated right away. Our waitress (Beyonce) was excellent. As busy as she was, we never felt abandoned. I ordered the Lamb Chops only to find there was a menu change, and that item was dropped. I was disappointed but still hungry. We made our order, Grabbers and Jambalaya, and we were not disappointed. When you walk in one side of the restaurant is the bar area with tvs and the other is for a nice sit down diner area. Restaurant was very nice. Staff was very friendly was greeted when I walked in which was really nice. My server was very friendly and professional. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms which were great. For my entre I ordered the seafood Alfredo that came with choice of salad or soup. I really wish we had just gone to a different place for dinner on our way through St. George. The food was overpriced, especially the kids menu, and the whole experience was a huge disappointment. First off, the kids menu says nothing about what sides are included, or a drink, and the waitress was no help providing any information. For $10.49 my son's fried shrimp dinner came with three little shrimp and the poor kid was still starving after eating everything on his plate. My wife and I both ordered steaks. Mine was supposed to be a "baseball cut" sirloin, but it was just a normal flat sirloin, half the thickness of her filet mignon and very tasteless. All of their steaks here seem to be just broiled and not grilled, and they act like it's special that they bring it out to you on the sizzling hot plate, from the salamander, but to me, it's just them trying to save washing an an extra dish. My wife and I both burned ourselves on the plate, and my plate was covered with burned blood that had obviously oozed out at some point during the cooking. Don't be lazy. Put my steak on a fresh plate when it comes out of the broiler and don't give me the plate you cooked it on, especially if there's burned on gunk! The garlic mashed potatoes that I ordered as my side were in edible because of how heavy they went with the garlic powder. We were looking forward to a good steak dinner after the lack of dining choices the previous week out hitting the national parks, but this was a waste of a meal. Not very busy on a Friday night around 8 so we got right in. Sat in a booth near the back, which was great! Noticed the booths seat need a little TLC (a bit cracked) but otherwise it was fine.
