Last year I backed into my next-door neighbor and had my car repaired at Rutherford. The original estimate that Angie Paxton submitted to my insurance company was not enough to cover my repair and they had to resubmit an updated estimate. Upon picking up my car, I was told it was in the parking lot. I found it backed into a spot and had to pull it forward to look at the repair. To my surprise, nothing was done. When I went inside and told Angie that they repair had not been done, she argued with me saying the damage was originally done to the other side. I told her we had pictures. After some time, she returned and said I could take my car and return when they had parts to complete it. Again, they resubmitted a bill to my insurance. This place is a fraud. read more

I have 3 family cars that Rutherford worked on. All 3 need redone due to their work not holding up. One is my wife's car, all of the body work can be seen (sand scratches & waves) It has so much work that needs redone, the repairs now may total the car. I had them redo the work once, it looked okay for about 3 months and then the rework came back. Another is my mother-in-law, paint is peeling on the new bumper and the body work can be seen in the gate. Third is my Great Aunt, body work on a simple bumper cover repair looks terrible. I have gone to this auto body repair facility for multiple repairs in the 18 years I've lived here. This had to have been the worst experience I've ever had with them. We paid this business IN FULL, WEEKS in advance of the work that was to be performed. The day the work was completed, my wife dropped off the final check for an additional amount they added to the work estimate. The receptionist handed the final documents to my wife showing that the work was paid for along with the warranty for the work, a survey, and the keys to the vehicle which we were to pick up after I had gotten off work. When I arrived, my car was locked in the vehicle pen. The owner coincidentally pulled into the shop while I was there. I was sure after showing him the documents, my key, and having him to call the technician I worked with, I would get my car back and would not have to wait until Monday. He would not release my car with all of the documents and after speaking with the other staff members. It's amazing, they took my money but would not release my car. The checks were certified checks and did not have to be cleared through the bank etc. The owner would not call anyone to help me. I even offered to rent a vehicle for the weekend and asked if I could possibly be reimbursed. He told me that they were not reimburse me for the mistake THEY made by not sitting my car outside of the locked pen. Really bad business practices here. Reading the other complaints from previous customers, it sounds like this is a major character flaw in the way that they run their business. Customer service is obviously not their number one priority. AND, For crying out loud, we are in a pandemic. Someone PLEASE tell the receptionist to wear a mask like the rest of the staff does. She's the first face that everyone sees entering the building and she executes most of the business transactions for customers. I think it's rude and careless to be a business owner and refuse to wear masks during a pandemic while guidelines still suggest mask wearing to stop the spread of COVID19. -SHOP AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! read more

They have good estimates and have always kept me informed of price/parts/timing changes. Trish, their secretary, is friendly and personable. She takes the reins when it comes to rental cars, and I've never been left standing, waiting for an automobile. I had never had someone hit my car, so I really didn't know what the process was to make sure that all the repairs are covered. The people here were fantastic at walking me through the process and working with the insurance company to ensure that I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket. Their staff are very kind and professional (Dwayne is seriously one of the nicest people I have ever met), and they definitely are looking to give you the best end result possible. With zero proactive communication from them, its two and a half weeks later and still no vehicle. They simply will not communicate unless I call. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. My sons car was hit in rear end collision. we took it to this repair shop. were given a estimate of roughly 4000.00 the insurance company agreed and sent a check. after they stared working on it they some how found another 4000,00 with of damage. Being a female, it is hard to trust shops to treat you right, but this team was more than trustworthy. I just want to take a minute and say that this place is top notch and truly amazing. Not only did they get me in within an hour of my accident. They had my car done promptly. They kept me updated on all the details calling daily or every other day. The date they told me was the date it was done. I have a 7 year old child and the inside was a mess. They cleaned the inside and shampooed the carpet. The outside was clean and the new door that was put on matches my 11 year old car perfectly. To have this kind of service is truly heartwarming. Place is a total rip off. Charged way too much to drill 6 holes for spoiler and splice in 3rd break light.. Paperwork states it took 5.1 hours. Instructions from company listed 30-45 minutes. read more

Don't take your car to Rutherfords Pickerington unless you don't need it back for 5 weeks. My quote was 4-5 days and it's now been 4 and a half weeks. The insurance did make a change when they came out 3 days after I dropped it off so I understand the quoted time being extended a couple days but sheesh not 3 extra weeks, that's uncalled for. Then when confronted they tried to throw it off on the insurance company who I called immediately and was read an email that they had sent to the auto body the day before requesting pictures and invoices which of course had not been received yet so I 3way called the auto body while on with the insurance and the guy from the shop tried to act surprised that they would have not sent the requested info from the day before but that he would make sure it was sent immediately....well it's now a day and a half later and I have talked to the insurance who states they received partial info requested from the auto body but not all so they can't do anything. Called the auto body and of course they claim to have sent it. Well as you can tell I don't have my car back yt and the auto body is still playing coy about the situation. They don't call back, I have had to call them back even when told that someone would return my call. This place is poorly managed, poor communication with their customers and show a total lack of concern for peoples time. Please when choosing an auto body shop DO NOT CHOOSE RUTHERFORDS in PICKERINGTON, unless of course you like being treated like a second class citizen. Beware! read more

Rutherford is dedicated to quality and customer service! I have been taking my vehicles to Rutherford for body work for the past 20 years, and just picked my SUV up today after having repair work done from a recent accident. They consistently have the customer's best interest in mind, and they take great pride in the quality of their work. They communicated with the insurance company, and always reached out to me long before the insurance adjuster with updates. They were proactive in keeping me well informed, they were upfront and honest about all aspects of the repair process, and quickly responded to all questions that I had along the way. They did a fantastic job of keeping my costs at a bare minimum, while insisting on quality parts from the insurance company. The entire process was incredibly simple, and when I picked up my vehicle, I could see that they even repaired shoddy work that had been done by another "cheap" body shop that I had visited a couple years back (which I will never do again!). I will continue taking my business to Rutherford, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a high-quality, reputable body shop. read more

My husband and I moved to Canal Winchester in 2005. Since that time, we've had a number of fender benders. Here's a list of cars we've taken to Rutherford Auto Body: 2005 Hyundai Elantra (twice), 2005 Kia Sedona, 2011 Kia Sorento (twice), 2011 GMC Terrain, 2017 Hyundai Elantra, 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and, most recently, a 2018 Hyundai Elantra. As you can see, we've given Ruther Auto Body A LOT of business! However, after taking the 2018 Hyundai Elantra, we will NEVER take ANYTHING else to Rutherford Auto Body to be fixed. Our son had first caused some damage to it. Before we could get it in the Rutherford Auto Body for an estimate someone else rear ended us. We dealt with two insurance companies for over a month before one of them accepted liability. When the car was finally in the shop to be repaired, ALL of the damage was to be repaired, but it wasn't done by the shop. The prior damage was just forward of the rear bumper on the passenger side. I simply cannot understand why any shop would replace a bumper, but no one at the shop would give a customer a call to at least ask about fixing the other damage. Makes no sense. Separate estimates were written for the insurance claim and the prior damage we were paying for. Makes no sense that no one at Rutherford Auto Body saw the separate estimates and took the time to call the customer and double check what all they were to fix! In no way are we expecting the car to be fixed for nothing, but the very small discount offered by Ruther Auto Body is a complete slap in the face to long-time, loyal customers. We'll be having the work done elsewhere and would advise anyone to do the same unless you're fine with poor customer service, poor communication, and are fine with a business that does not care one bit about your being a loyal customer! read more

I hate to give an unfavorable review to a business that my family has patronized for three generations. My recent experience with Rutherford, though, was too incredibly bad to ignore. Not only was Rutherford's communication and customer service extremely poor, but they also failed to complete the repairs in a timely manner. Two of the repairs were not done at all. When I made an appointment to have the body work on my truck done at Rutherford's Canal Winchester location, I was told that it would take five days-- six days at the most-- to finish the repairs. Rutherford sends pictures on a daily basis showing the work in progress, and there was no visible work of any kind done for the first four days that the truck was there. According to their pictures, Rutherford began to disassemble my truck one week after I dropped it off, and the projected completion date suddenly slipped from October 3, 2016 to October 13, 2016. I was not given the simple courtesy of a telephone call to let me know that there would be a ten-day delay, and found out only through Rutherford's automated email service. When I called Mike Roop, the service manager, I was told that October 13th was only an estimate, and that he could not guarantee that my truck would be finished by then. Since I live more than 600 miles away, I requested that the truck be reassembled so I could drive it home and have it repaired there. I was informed that I could not take my vehicle elsewhere for "safety reasons." I was also informed that the projected completion date had slipped to October 19th. At this point, I had no choice but to call my insurance company to arrange for a rental car so that I could drive home. It was absolutely necessary for me to be home from October 10th through October 23rd, but I hated the idea of making an extra 1200 mile trip. My insurance company attempted to intervene with Rutherford, but was unable to get the repairs on my truck completed earlier. I left Columbus on October 10th, and was 300 miles away when I received a phone call from Rutherford with the news that my truck was "looking good" for October 13th, but that some parts were still backordered. The service manage was still unable to guarantee that the repairs would be completed, but it "looked good." I canceled my appointments for the week (one of which I'd been waiting for six months) and turned around to make the 300 mile trip back to Columbus. As of now, my truck still "looks good" for October 13th. I have no idea what the work will look like, but I do know that two of the repairs will not be done. I asked to have a bent wheel replaced at my own expense, but Rutherford was unable to locate a wheel which matched the others on my truck. That's understandable, and my only complaint is that I wasn't told until today. I also asked to have my bumper replaced at my own expense. I checked with a dealer, and the bumper was readily available. Rutherford either forgot to do this or arbitrarily decided not to do it, and didn't bother to tell me that it wasn't done. Horrible experience! I was rear ended on June 17th and had previously used Rutherford (approximately 4 years ago) and decided to return because I had a great experience before. I took my car there on June 26th and did not get it back until JULY 13th. I was originally told that the car repair was only a two day car repair. The paying insurance company called me after 5 days of them having my car asking if I knew any details. I told them that unfortunately they were not returning my calls- which is why Allstate contacted me. Allstate said they had marked our claim with multiple calls to Rutherford and the calls were not returned. I would call almost every morning into the shop and would always get told that they were in a meeting and would return my calls-which they did not. In the 17 days that they had my car they only called me once- and that was to make sure that I brought the money for them. No one went over what was actually done with my car or why it took so long. All I was asking for was communication and apparently that no longer exists in their business. read more
