Horrible experience, rented a 26 foot refrigerated truck for a huge order for my business, I called a few weeks before event, was told no worries they will have it for me on Nov 10th and set to return on the 12th. I explain to her that I don't have anyone to drive it back on the 12th is it possible to leave it on the 11th, "sure no problem we will give you a gate code and it's time stamped so we know when you returned it" AWESOME! The 10th is now here and I'm busy trying to take care of my customer's order that I failed to call to check on my reservation, but Ryder closed at 5 and it's around 4:40pm so I call and no answer ok so maybe they are busy or they left a little early because it's a Friday who knows, BUT I have a couple of email confirmations in my inbox, and I'm sure someone would of called me because they have all of my contact info. Next day we are full swing in prepping a 2500 box lunch order, my dad (CDL holder) shows up around 8am and we leave around 8:20ish to go get this refrigerated truck 35 mins away since Ryder closes earlier on Saturdays. I get there and I go to the wrong customer service area, there was a trailer parked in front of rental office sign so I didn't see it at first. Get to the correct office told Colton I have a reservation and I pull out my email confirmation. He digs through paperwork in a binder fiddles with computer told me their system is down, ok great I just want my rental so I can get back to my job. So he runs out the back door, we waited in the office for around 10 minutes, phones are ringing another person walks in (now I know why no one answered the previous day) I was done waiting I walked out the back foot and I couldn't see him anywhere, apparently he came through the front door and told my dad they rented out my truck to someone else last night, I walked in then and my dad said that to me, I turned to look at him and asked is that true. He responded yes. WHOA EXCUSE ME I HAVE A RESERVATION!!! He tells me a leasee broke down and they get top priority, so they got the truck yesterday. So as you can tell by my long rant I'm in customer service as well, I get it but the issue was no one contacted me! I wasted 2 hours of my day dealing with something that could of been prevented with a phone call, I mean I would still be pissed but not as much. So he gets on the phone and tries to find me a replacement, good job there, but then he says ok they have one in San Antonio, if you can get there I'll give you 200 miles for free. First off, this wasn't my mistake, it should be a Ryder employee needs to make this right, secondly, I DID NOT have time to drive to San Antonio, I had places and things I needed to do, thirdly if I would have known earlier in the day I would have time to find an alternate route or town like temple etc. but it was up to me. No other compensation besides 200 free miles that's nonsense to me, didn't even offer another plain truck until I ask if one is available, he said yes of course but I can't give it to you for free but I'll do a little discount. No no coco. If I'm getting a regular truck that I originally didn't want but was forced to get there's no way I'm paying almost full price for it. Plus having to waste another hour of my day to return it, so I called a friend who has uhauls and got one from him, since I couldn't find another refrigerated truck anywhere. So 2 hours gone no truck to show for it. I called Monday to talk to a manager, he's not there won't be back until Tuesday. I got his number, great. I placed a review on google and tweeted company. So I wanted until 9 today (Tuesday) to call manager no answer but I left a message, still No response on twitter or google. At 12:44pm Ryder responded to my google review asking if I'm willing to call them, sure why not. I called and asked to speak to the manager or the person who does their google reviews, I was told manager is on vacation won't be back until tomorrow (Wednesday) and I don't know who responds to reviews.
