This is my first time here. I was excited to try this place because I've been on the hunt for good cornbeef/rueben sandwich. I ordered to go and was very disappointed when I got home to see how thin my sandwich was for $17! I come from a city that's known for their cornbeef, they stack the sandwich so thick you have more meat than you know what to do with. Maybe my expectations were too high but I think this is a kind shady and I feel a bit cheated. I don't think I will be returning anytime soon read more

My husband and I each ordered a chicken salad sandwich - mine on whole grain, the hubs' on rye. Both bread choices were fantastic and so fresh! The chicken salad was loaded onto the bread - all white meat, nicely mixed with mayo, etc -- so thick (not goopy/laden with mayo) -- YUM! One of the best places for breakfast in the city. Fast and convenient if you are in the strip. my only complaint is they are stingy with their condiments. I Love this places cheeseburgers, their hot pepper cheese is something special. Today i ordered my usual order and food for some other people. The three chicken noodle soups were placed sideways on top of all my other food in the bag. It leaked onto my burger with hot cheese, which had the other burgers toppings, so i called and asked them to remake the soup that leaked and my burger. It seemed like no big deal until i took the new cheeseburger back home and found the receipt for the remake was on my burger melted into the cheese. I picked it out and ate it anyways because the burger is my favorite in town, but I thought that it was an act of pettiness. Ill let you be the judge. Haven't been here in a very long time. Passed by today while on an errand with my mom and suggested it as a good lunch stop. Found it to be a bit of a mixed bag. Mom ordered the egg salad on multigrain, which she absolutely loved. I ordered a garden veggie wrap, which is normally made with hummus, and since we were there around 2 p.m., after the lunch rush, they were out of the hummus. They make things like that and the salads in small batches each day so when they're gone, they're gone. The server said he would recommend the veggie burger instead, and I always go with a recommendation when offered so ordered that. Mom also ordered some coleslaw, which she found to be a bit sour and not her favorite. I ordered potato salad which they were also out of for the day, so I stuck with the veggie burger only. My veggie burger was very tasty but a little bit of a disappointment in that I'm pretty sure these were premade patties, and by recommending this as a good alternative option to the wrap I thought they might have something housemade. It came on a delicious brioche bun with a nice piece of lettuce and one very sad tomato slice, along with a packet of mayonnaise and packet of mustard. Mom got a deli pickle with her egg salad, I didn't get that or pickle chips with the burger. One very big surprise was that I got two veggie patties. I'm not sure if many people eat two veggie patties in one sitting, but I kept half of the bun and one patty and that will be a whole other lunch for me, making this a very good value! There was also quite a bit of confusion as people stood around the register area waiting for their orders. If people had been waiting for a while the cashier would double check with them about their name and what they ordered. When he checked with me and I told him my name and what we ordered, he handed me a bag labeled for Rich, who got a grilled chicken sandwich. Thankfully, since it seemed like a lot less food than we ordered, I looked at it, realized it wasn't right and turned right back around, finding my bag sitting on the counter and taking the correct order with me. So overall, I know they have lots of great options here, great deli meats/cheeses and salads and most of what we had was very tasty, but there were some disappointments. I know people who swear by this place and I've had past very good experiences, so I'm sure I will give them another shot in the future -- and it'll definitely be before the lunch rush. They also serve breakfast from 8 to 11, I believe, on weekdays, and all day on weekends. I'm probably never going to review anything as perfect, but this was as close as I could expect. The people there were very friendly and eager to help. Doors were opened for me, minor points discussed and service was fast. I was at an event down the street and stopped here to check it out. I saw an interesting selection of soups available and decided to try the stuffed cabbage soup. I ate it at a bistro table on the sidewalk. I thought the soup was great. It could have used a bit of salt, but the flavor was exceptional even without it. I ordered fries and was cautioned that they do not salt their fries. I was offered salt, pepper and ketchup packets to add myself. The fries were obviously fresh cut and double fried, being a perfect golden brown. The hit of the day was the pastrami. I ordered the standard sandwich, with cheese and deli mustard on good rye bread. I could have had my choices of cheese and condiments, but ordering the standard menu item gives me a better idea of what a place is all about. It is obvious that they take their food seriously. The pastrami was lean with great flavor. My sandwich came with a pickle that added to my enjoyment. The inside and outside were clean and well maintained. My fiance went with the pastrami rueben and he LOVED it. I went with a half turkey sandwich with all the toppings and a cup of chicken noodle soup. Nice spot. I don't order out for lunch often but this place has some good reviews and a good reputation. They seem to be most known for their substantially large sandwiches like the rueben as well as latkes, matzah ball soup, and other items. I decided to try their MnM cookies and the simple grilled cheese. You can't really go wrong with a grilled cheese; it's pretty simple. But, they do make it well here. The portion is decent and the price is also reasonable. Compared to some of their other sandwiches, it is smaller but also quite a bit cheaper (other sandwiches are generally somewhat expensive but have large portions). They use classic American cheese, which had a slight plastic taste but it was still good. Bread was still somewhat crispy and buttery. Added bonus is that they serve the sandwich with a pickle spear. Good pickle portion and very flavorful. They offer numerous baked goods and desserts as well. They gave me two cookies. I'm not sure if that's the standard portion or if they were just feeling generous. Either way they were very tasty. Plenty of MnMs and nice crispy edges. All in all, would recommend if you want to stop by for lunch. Could be a bit expensive if you order a large sandwich. But, great location and a fair amount of lunch options. read more

This was our first visit at the deli. I picked them because I just looked interesting. From the time we walked in, till the time we left, we felt as though we were at home. The manager, the Help from the people who serves you at the counter to the people who were working in the back, or absolutely fantastic. Now, let's get to the food. I got the soup of the day which was matzoh ball soup. And I ordered a pastrami on marble rye with cheddar cheese and pickle shreds. My husband ordered a Weiss burger with cheese onions and lettuce. Wow! All I can say is that I had to bring home half of the sandwich. It was fantastic and my husbands was as well. The matzoh ball soup was wonderful, the matzoh balls themselves and light and fluffy. It is in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. You will not be sorry if you go here. I cancelled the order and tried to explain how it's restaurants like this that are reckless and putting places in a position to shut down. They weren't even conspicuous about it. Got the Pastrami on Rye (added lettuce, tomato, and Mayo, and no mustard) as well as a smoked Turkey on a hoagie with lettuce, tomato, Mayo, and provolone cheese. The pastrami was amazing! The meat was tender, good thickness, and not too much fat. Next time I may pay the extra few dollars for extra meat, I was wanting for a little bit more! As for the Turkey hoagie, the meat was sliced thin (which I love), and there was more meat in this sandwich than the pastrami, but the bread was a bit tough. I wish they would have toasted it. Stopped by today around 2ish... decent crowd inside and a couple sitting at the outside tables as well I tried using a Local Flavor coupon ... got two Ruben's and a pastrami sandwich .... hint: if you pay using one of these coupons print it out -- they may not let you use it if you don't .. luckily the owner was there -- he explained how it screws up the register balancing without it but thankfully excepted mine from my phone. It did not take long to get the food .... the cook was really nice when he brought the food up to the counter. Ruben was good ... I got a delivery through uber eats, by the time I got my reuben, french fries and bowl of matzo ball soup, all was cold but the soup. The fries were soft and soggy, but fresh cut and alright once I reheated them. The sandwich, had next to no meat, the sauerkraut was overly sweet and whatever they used to grease the bread to fry the sandwich destroyed the entire thing and made it taste terrible, and I only could eat half of the inside of the sandwich and threw the rest of it out. A big part of everything being soft and soggy and not crisp was due to the packaging, Perhaps the food would be better if I ate it there and it had not traveled first. The Chicken matzo ball soup was a bowl, and matzo balls were light and fluffy, but you get two small to medium balls, and consume. Not a slice of carrot or any celery. I really enjoyed my lunch from this deli! I got a roast beef sandwich on sourdough with hot pepper cheese and horseradish. Honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I could hear the fresh and crispy lettuce crunch when I bit into it. The meat was fresh and juicy. The bread was soft but not soggy. I also tried the chicken noodle soup. It was a bit too sweet for my taste and there were too many chopped veggies. I don't think I'll go for the soup again but I'll be back for those sandwiches! read more

I'm not a big fan of delis but decided to try this place out since I work right around the corner from it. I was pleasantly surprised with my overall experience. The space is very old school and I knew by all the people inside, this was a beloved neighborhood establishment. The process of ordering food seemed very straight forward, I saw many people standing in line ordering there food and standing waiting for their order to be completed; there was plenty of space inside for people to wait comfortably. I ordered my food online and the nice man behind the counter told me my food would be done shortly after coming inside. I waited less than five minutes for my order. I ordered the French dip and a cup of the matzo ball soup. The French dip was amazing. The meat was delicious and packed generously. The bread that housed the meat was very soft and soaked up the au jus perfectly. The matzo ball soup was very aromatic and easy to finish. I loved the broth. My order came to about $13 which I would say is average pricing. Like I said, I'm not a fan of delis and sandwiches that much however.. I would give this place another try. read more

The extra lean corned beef sammie is hands down the best I've ever had! My 11 year old begged for another one the next day. The rye bread was hearty while still soft and the meat was so flavorful.
