I'm actually shocked that this place has such good reviews. Also not shocked since I was promised a discount in exchange for a review. TLDR: Dress has sloppy and downright lazy alterations (see photos attached for their work so you can judge for yourself) The owner Shaker is condescending, rude and doesn't know how to run a business. I was initially quoted $75 for a hem but was told it would be $60 if I left a review. I come back the next day because of the price, location, the good reviews, and his confidence that he could do a good job. (Yes I do my research on the area before giving my business) I gave his associate the dress and let them know I needed the dress by October 27th which is a few weeks before the wedding. I told him I wanted the dress on that date just in case I needed more work done. I was assured that "this is an easy alteration and it would only need a day to work on it." His words not mine. I come back on the 27th and I'm noticing that the stitching on the bottom is completely wonky, lopsided, and some parts aren't even stitched correctly. (see attached photos and make your own conclusions. The work speaks for itself) I wish I had said something but I was trying to be ok with it. I show my friends the alteration and everyone has the same WTF expression at how bad the dress was. When I called, Shaker blamed a new employee and told me to bring it back. (Ok sure but this is YOUR business, YOU need to do quality control.) At the shop, he dismissed my concerns and acted annoyed when I said the entire hem needed redoing. I show him photos while he's looking at the dress and I tell him " I don't even know what's wrong with this (pointing at the stitching)" and he condescendingly tells me "yeah that's a stitch". Yes I know it's a stitch but why is it all zig zag and uneven? He tells me that this "is an easy fix" (his words again not mine) and they will fix the spots he sees. The whole bottom of the dress is messed up and he's trying to take the easy/lazy path out AGAIN. I tell him no the whole thing needs to be worked on and he grudgingly agrees and says ok but it's going to take some time. Once I get home I realize he said SHE will work on it. I call him and tell him I don't feel comfortable with the new employee working on my dress again if that's her idea of good work. I'd rather get a refund and get my dress back and go somewhere else. This is when he starts to raise his voice. The gist of our conversation: 1. Shaker: I'm working on this dress twice without charging you again and you already want a refund? (I just dropped off the dress again a few minutes ago so no work had been done yet. Also he's only working on my dress twice because HE messed up NOT because of something else needing alteration) 2. Shaker: You were the one who haggled for the price. (I didn't do any haggling. If me trying to leave the store after politely declining and him lowering the price as I'm leaving is haggling, then sure.) 3. Shaker: You should have looked at the dress before leaving. (Blaming ME for HIM not doing his job. I did look at the dress and tell him how bad the alteration was... but that's also YOUR job. It's YOUR business) I let them "fix" it anyway just to move on. I pick up the dress today (10/29) and it's... better. The stitching is more even but it's jaggedy and I'm noticing parts where the stitch doesn't even go through where it's supposed to go. I'm also now noticing new stains on the dress. (This dress is brand new with the tags on and has sat in it garment bag since it was received in the mail) Overall: The workmanship was poor, the customer service was unprofessional, and quality control seems nonexistent. They were very professional and courteous. I did not need a suit altered. I took them something harder to do and they knocked it out of the park. He even went above and beyond and did extra work that he could of easily charged me for. Work was done when he said it would be. UPDATE on Wednesday afternoon. They're not giving me a refund because apparently it is IMPOSSIBLE to give me back $400 in cash just the way I gave it to them. I would understand their response if I picked up the altered suit days later (after placing order) and then requested a refund... but that's not the case here... I did not pick anything up and they did NOT start working on the material before I called this morning. What could have been a simple refund for a one time instance like this is leaving me with a suit I don't need and it will go to waste when I pick it up on Friday later this week. To add to this, the owner was rude to me on the phone call when he finally called me, making me feel completely cornered and forced to go through with this. He said "$400 is nothing for us but we can't give a refund". The owner spoke condescendingly to me saying that he will help me with any legal action I want to take on this matter. He kept saying it's policy that they "don't do refunds, only exchange", but this special policy was not mentioned to me even once while I was in the store. I'm now fearing for the quality of the product and alterations that need to be made by the business. So much for going to a well rated business near me. PREUPDATE from Wednesday morning: Not providing a refund for an order placed less than 24hrs ago, paid in cash, and for something that has not been worked on yet. I placed on order (paid in full in cash) in store yesterday near closing hours and today I realized I don't actually need a suit made. I called early today so that I can request a refund for something I don't need anymore and the business is refusing a refund. There's nothing wrong with the product itself, but I'm posting this here until they can process a simple refund for me. This isn't a policy issue because their first, second, and third response was that the system cannot process refund for something I paid in cash. Their options to me were to get store credit ( i don't need the suit) or do an exchange (I don't have anything to exchange). I called the store twice today to hear the same response and when I started asking to speak with the owner of the business I was told that they'll get in touch with the owner and get back to me. I took my dress here once and only once. This post is long overdue, but I am in the market for a tailor again, and having this company come up as the first option instantly retraumatized me. So anyway, a while back, I came in for a basic hem on a dress. I gave them over a week to complete it. I walk in to pick up with my ticket that is postdated and everything only for them to scramble and ask for an extra 30min of my time and they will complete it. I thought that was kind of quick given the delicate material of the dress and that it has a slip but whatever... I wait in my car for 30min - I walk back in, I pay, they give me the dress, I go home... It was not tailored at all. I did not have the energy to go back and fight it. If they needed my $30 so badly that they had to screw me out of it, they can keep it, but not another dime =) read more

I called this place in a desperate attempt to get my son a suit tailored one week before a very important event. We had ordered a suit online (that everyone else participating in this event also ordered) and it was fitting my son very poorly. After trying out several department stores thinking that surely something would fit, I googled local tailors to get that poorly fitting suit altered. When we showed up, Shaker was very honest about how much work the suit would need. He did have something very similar to what my son needed and it fit him like a glove! My son ordered a jacket off Amazon that was a size extra large. He is very skinny and should have ordered a medium. They took measurements and took in the jacket, the shoulders and the sleeves. Before the alterations he was swimming in this jacket. The outcome came out fantastic. The shoulders and sleeves fit him perfectly. His look was so polished after the jacket was altered. Great Place, they are open on weekends and open late. Came here for my husband and brother-in-laws suits for our wedding. They were done quickly and they were able to fix minor details when fitting.
