Review since COVID re-opening: I have come to this neighborhood nail salon often since it opened a few years ago. The employees are always so friendly and do a great job. Drinks of choice are offered when you get settled (coffee, tea, water, soda and wine). Like other salons in the city, paying with cash gets you a slight discount. I particularly love this salon when I want a dip manicure, as their selection of dip colors is (in my opinion) unmatched. I have always had a nice experience when coming in, and this recent visit was no different--which was especially anticipated as they have had to remain closed for months--but they're finally open again! All in all a great neighborhood (QV) salon that are dedicated to their clients. So happy they're back! ......................... Some things to note since their re-opening from COVID19 shut down: -appointments are encouraged. Let me start by saying everyone is very nice at the salon. I got chrome for a wedding I'm in this weekend. I had never done it before. To be honest...my nails looks really bad. My cuticles and fingers are covered in nail polish. I was told it will wash off after I wash my hands. I did wash my hands and it kind of helped the polish on my fingers but my cuticles not so much. I would just expect a manicure to look like it was professionally done and mine does not. My pedicure was great but won't be going back for a gel manicure anytime soon. I went to S&N for the first time recently for a gel mani and pedi. The service was excellent and my nails look amazing. The service was 5 stars BUT unfortunately I don't think I would be a returning customer purely based on sanitation. The tools were kept in the blue light sanitizing box which is pretty standard but the scrubbing brushes for pedicures and some of the other tools were clearly not sanitized between customers and it was obvious that they had been used for quite some time. It's disappointing because the quality of the service was so amazing. If they were to improve the cleanliness to meet the standards of most other nail salons, I would 100% go back again. read more

I'm so happy I found this place! It's on my way home from work, and they're open pretty late. I went recently on a Saturday at 5pm (they technically close at 6pm) but they took 2 girls at 5:45 and stayed open late to give them a manicure/pedicure! This place is the cleanest in the area, and the employees are all very nice. I asked for a half-moon gel manicure, and my manicurist did a wonderful job. She free-handed the half-moon design and it came out beautiful. We had a glass of wine and also got a free shoulder massage while my hands were in the gel dryers. I made an appointment to have a mani-pedi and requested that the foot bath be run with some bleach for 1minute to kill bacteria. I have asked every salon I've ever been to and it has never been a problem. S&N refused to accommodate me and was exceedingly rude about it. They insisted that a spritz if isopropyl alcohol was good enough. As a biology teacher I can assure you, it is not going to kill much of anything; in fact, the only thing alcohol kills is fecal bacteria. That leaves all kinds of fungus, other bacteria, viruses, etc. to infect your unsuspecting feet. read more

I LOOOOVE S&N... it's definitely the best nail salon I've been to. I come often for gel manicures (not because they don't last, but because I get annoyed when my nails get too long.) I've never once had a bad experience. The shop is clean and cute, they have a great selection of polishes (and always get the new colors!), and the girls are the best. Most of the time I come in and only have a vague idea of what I want, but I always leave loving my nails. Sometimes I just let them pick the color style, other times I show them a photo of what I'm thinking and they always end up looking good. Shout out to Nai for her awesome and creative nail art, but you can't go wrong with any of the other technicians, either. The men and women who work there always recognize me, are super kind, and do a great job on my nails. S&N is the best manicure I've ever had! I love that S&N gives a cash discount, they do waxes as well, they give a massage while your nails dry, they serve wine. What more could you want! :) I'm just always impressed at their service and their friendliness. Two days after getting it I had to redo it all myself as the nails werent even trimmed (sorry if that sounds nasty...) and my cuticles didn't seem to have been touched. At first I loved this place, but after this past time I'll never go here again. I got a full set less than a week ago and the very next day they all started coming up and cracking. I didn't even do anything strenuous to make that happen. I didn't even get to the gym at this point. I came in asking for a pretty easy service. I wanted each nail to be a different color with one nail being a bit different than the others. They did a HORRIBLE job painting my nails. I asked them to change it a bit so it would look better and the lady completely ignored me before saying she couldn't do it. I just wanted it to look more like the photo I brought with me. Mind you, the nails were super easy. I wasn't asking much. AND not only did EVERY nail crack by the very next day, the nails are chipping away from the cuticle. This is by far the worst manicure I've ever had. One of the girls could tell I was upset so she tried to fix it. She was very nice, but also filed my nails AFTER they were done drying. The list of what they did wrong that day is very long. I'm not one to write bad reviews but I am extremely upset at the absolute waste of money here. Now I have to spend more money to go to someone else to fix them! Never again!! read more

Terrible pedicure I felt super rushed the whole time --water was not warm it was nasty, my person only spent a few minutes prepping my feet--didn't ask if I wanted a nail trim or file just cut my toenail down to nothing. She barely massaged/scrubbed feet or legs maybe 2 min tops and then put hardly two coats of paint on my toenails which one I noticed was smeared already as I walked over to the dryer. I was really happy to find a nail salon a block away from me. The prices seemed reasonable and I liked the atmosphere and the idea of getting a free glass of wine with my manicure. Everyone who works there is very nice. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and clean. And their prices are actually quite reasonable. I got a regular manicure my first time in but I wanted a little bit of nail art. I decided to go with an internal french manicure (with the half moon at the nail bed). It was sparkly and cute, but the lines were a little uneven. Since it was sparkle and not super obvious against the black nail polish, I didn't worry too much about it. The next week a friend wanted to get a mani-pedi, so we went there again. This time I got a dark grey color with white tips like a french manicure. Unfortunately, the lines were too thick and uneven and it was really easy to see against the dark gray. I went back the next morning and they did the nail polish again.This time it was way thinner and more to my taste, but still uneven. After three manicures at this place, I doubt that I would pay them to do my nails again. If I'm going to pay someone to do my nails, I expect it to come out looking better than I could do at home. read more
