I have a 87 Porsche 944 and nobody I called was willing to inspect or service my AC system. I called and spoke with Steve, he told me to bring the car in and he would look at it. Came in to have my a/c looked at. My car was taken in, without having to wait long, even though I was a walk-in. The man that did the diagnosis was very knowledgeable, and within 30 minutes told me what needed to be fixed (my a/c was making an unusual noise when I turned it on). I thought I would have to come in another day, but he worked on my car right then, and I was out within the hour. I've been going to Steve S&s auto since I was 19 years old. I'm now 44. Let me give you a list of what he's done for me. I lived in bellflower for a long time. My first car purchase was a good experience. Eventually my timing belt went out while I was exiting the freeway. I was scared and a lil far away from work. I called him and told him. He sent a tow truck while my co worker picked me up so I can get to work. Keep in mind he never charged me for the tow. He let me know there was a 50/50 chance with the repair it would run again. It did. A couple of years later I wanted to buy a new/ used car. Before the purchase I took it to Steve he did a diagnostic at no charge and gave me the 100 it was good to go. I never had a problem with that car. Fast forward he's the only one I went to for all my other car purchases. There was a time my transmission went out on my Yukon. He suggested I go to the dealer bcz it was almost out of warranty. I did. I paid $100 deductible and got a new transmission for $100. Fast forward to my one and only brand new car that I've always taken to him and it's 17 years old and still running like a champ. Guess what?! My repairs and suggestions to keep it that way came from him. He's taken extremely good care of this car. Fast forward to my very first luxury car purchase. It was making a funny noise. I was all the way in Burbank and scared to drive. I told him what was going on. With his knowledge and experience he assured me it was ok to drive. He waited for me to bring it during my long drive, inspected it while I waited, he actually waited outside for me to get there. While I waited Oscar bout me in and out bcz he knew I hadn't eaten. He found the problem. He could've charged me to fix it but he insisted I go to the dealer bcz having him do the repair would be expensive. So he knew I had a warranty he made me go to the dealership even though I'd rather pay him for the work. I went to the dealer and it was 100% covered. Steve has been my only mechanic ever! My sons forte is working on cars. Steve was a huge mentor in this and now my son is a mechanic for our military. Just recently my very first and only brand new car which just so happens to be 18 years old. He's been the only mechanic that has touched that car. It's motor had to be replaced, most likely bcz I let a friend borrow it for about 6 months. He found me a motor with the lowest mileage. He could've charged me top dollar he didn't. He even fixed all the other stuff that needed to be replaced at no charge. Steve has always been my go to. He's been like a dad to me. I don't care what anyone says about him. He's always taken care of me both financially and with the utmost care as if it were his daughter driving a car. I call him in any dire situation and he has a resolution that gives me comfort when i'm a mess just like a dad. Reading the reviews people have negative things to say about him and Oscar's relationship. Oscar is his son if you're a parent you can relate. He's helping him develop into the one that could potentially take over the business. Who wouldn't appreciate a dad like that?! At the end of the day he's a stand up man that cares about his clients. He's gone way above and beyond for me in the last 25 years, when I was a young woman. He's treated me with the utmost respect and educated me on the mechanics of cars. Hes helped my son understand everything Steve has taught me when he didn't have to. My son now has the education without paying for it. And he's able to do mostly what Steve does it's just for the military. Steve has even encouraged him to be somewhat of an intern to strengthen his skill to be as successful! You can't put a price on that. He didn't. I don't care or believe the negative reviews about him. It doesn't matter bcz I know he's alway had my best interest in mind. Hell he even recommended a body shop to fix my daughters car that the insurance company wanted to deem salvaged. 10,000 is what the repair shop wanted. He referred me to his colleague it costed me 2,500. It would have deemed it a total loss. He's always looking out for the best case scenario. That's why I would say to anyone he's the real deal! If you need a good stand up mechanic, he's your guy!! He's a good man and I can always depend on him. Needless to say my new car is Audi Q7 prestige. I didn't get an extended warranty only stuck with the manufactures bcz I know financially he's going to take care of me. Which will save me thousands of dollars in interest. Not only that repairs that are partially covered I can still rely on him to take care of it for a fraction of the cost from the dealer. At the end of the day I'll always go to S&S auto. I had my air conditioner recharged here. They tested the car for over a half hour and said there were no leaks, and recharged it for around $90. 3 weeks later the A/C stopped working. When I came back, they said the compressor seals were bad, and it would cost $600 to fix. So they couldn't tell the compressor was bad after testing for almost an hour? Seems fishy to me. Steve has been servicing my vehicle for a few years now. Everything from major and minor items. Mechanical or electrical, its always good work. He also stands behind his work. I had a minor issue with some door locks he installed. He instructed me to bring it back and he'll take care of it no questions asked. Prices are pretty good too. One thing i like about him is he explains in detail whats going on with your vehicle and what needs to be done and why. Then gives you a few options on repairs. I took my truck to get the AC system checked and fixed. For some reason other repair shops couldn't figure out why my AC system kept shutting off after 10 min of use. I should have taken it to S&S from the start! I trusted Oscar and Steve to take care of the problem. BAD EXPERIENCE - Took my '78 ElCamino to them because the "HOT" light would not go off even though the engine was not running hot. They replaced the heat sensor for $103.00 and sent me on my way WITH the hot light still ON! Had another mechanic fix it and brought the bill for the new heat sensor back to S&S for reimbursement. He did not say one word and reimbursed me. NOW - granted new parts are not always good BUT why did he not return the part to the parts store and get a replacement before he considered the job done? And I had to pay 2 mechanics labor fees just the get a heat sensor screwed in!!!!!!! Will never recommend to anyone! read more

Horrible. I was getting a smog next door and asked the owner of this shop if he could fix my AC because there was a leak. I pointed out exactly where the leak was. he said yes no problem. Took my truck in for repairs of AC $160 later he said he didn't find a leak but he refilled the freon bc it was empty (obviously from the leak) and the air was cold. It was not cold when I told him he said to drive it awhile. This was Saturday afternoon. I didn't drive it again till Monday and when I used it it started to smoke. Called he was not there, took it back tuesady low and behold he found the leak right in the same exact spot I told him it was at. Then he says he can fix the leak NOW for about another $400 something dollars but he needs to go under my engine. He then took all the freon he put in out and said he owes it to me. Didn't trust the guy so I asked for my money back. He refused saying he'll just give me the freon. I don't want him touching my car again. Had to go fix my AC with a mechanic who did it right the first time. Now I'm out $160. Not cool. I paid for something I didn't not receive. He took the freon back!!!! Okay the gave me a great price on the A/C. I thought I had finally found the ideal place to take my vehicles but.....big but. Yes Oscar is the nice guy and wants to help but whom he helps I'm not sure. He is a pawn that works for his boss and his boss works on profit. So I take my vehicle to get the AC serviced on Friday. They call me Saturday and when I go to pick up my truck the manager/boss intercedes and begins to tell me the truck has a problem with the ignition switch as well. I check it and everything is fine. He then says well "your pump or something is also making a noise, I check everything and I found something making a noise.". I begin to regret taking my truck there......I should have known it was too good to be true and only one other review tells me little about this place. Perhaps others are avoiding this place for a reason. I leave hoping that nothing will go wrong and cue the dramatic music. The next day steam emerges from my hood. The problem..(dum dum dum dum-read in musical dramatic tone) the WATER pump. I call the place up and speak with Steve about this dramatic Coincidence. It is safe to say that neither of us were happy and he quotes the repair at another three hundred dollars......there is his additional profit. It's true what they say. You get what you pay for. From now on I'm taking all of my business to John Kim at Kim's auto repair in Hawaiian gardens. The guys honest and straightforward from the start.
