Our server was very friendly, and recommended 4 to 5 plates per person...so we ordered a LOT, and it was so fun! Oir courses were perfectly spaced out, too. As soon as we were done with a plate, we were immediately welcomed with our next. Each plate was perfectly textured, unique, and visuall stunning. Our favorites: - LOBSTER DUMPLINGS: They melted in our mouths delicious! I'm not surprised it's one of their staples. - SALMON CRUDO: This was part of their tasting menu, and it was SO gorgeously put together. Every bite kept intriguing us more. Came for brunch, would come again. Extremely creative menu. Lobster dumplings: the dumpling filling is like 95% lobster, they did not skimp on the meat at all. The jade butter complemented the dumpling very well & wasn't overbearing on flavor. Bacon & Egg Bibimbap: pretty standard Bibimbap, except they are able to maximize the sought after crispy rice with their stone pot. Not pictured but Brunch Pastry Tier: this was my favorite dish, honestly I think we could've just had this for brunch. So many different wonderful flavors and very filling, perfect way to spend a few hours catching up with a friend. We were excited to come here after hearing great things about this place from a friend. We came around 6:30pm on a Saturday night and were seated quickly. After receiving water we had to wait 15 min before our server came again to ask what we wanted to order. This is something that continued throughout the night as overall the service was very slow and it was hard to flag down our waiter. We ordered a cocktail each along with 2 appetizers and 2 entrees to share. Our apps, the truffle croquettes and lobster dumplings came out super quickly after ordering even before we got our cocktails. The lobster dumplings were delicious and similar to a nice dim sum shrimp dumpling. The sauce served alongside was amazing. The truffle croquettes were good but a bit heavy. We waited another 30 min for our entrees and had to ask for our drinks again. It seemed like they had forgotten about us a few times. The foie gras bibimbap was good with crispy rice and a nice texture combo. The sea bass was also super yummy and we loved the crispy sourdough layer which was super incentive. For months, I've noticed that this place often has last minute reservations available online. I assumed that this might be an indication that this restaurant might be so-so, but that was totally not the case. This place made for the perfect date night with my husband. The lighting inside of the restaurant is lowly lit. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful. The dishes are mainly small plates. If you don't order anything else as an appetizer, you really have to get the black truffle croquettes. Crispy on the outside, and savory on the inside. The maine lobster dumplings were also very good. The hamachi sashami is a good option if you want a chilled seafood appetizer. The crispy potatoes were good, but not a must have in my opinion. It was a little bit too crispy/hard in my opinion. We both ordered the onion crusted salmon and were blown away by this dish. Been wanting to check out Sky for quite some time now, and finally decided to make reservations for brunch. I've never been a big fan of Asian flavors for brunch, but when done right, it's certainly gets appreciated. They started us off with a couple of complimentary pastries. These were phenomenal, and were a perfect way to start off this brunch. The wife started of with a marinated cucumber salad, which came with garlic-soy, chili oil and sesame salt, and I chose their Japanese Caesar salad. It came with shiitake dressing, bottarga and nori. Both were tasty, just never been a big fan of salads, especially so early in the morning. For our next course, my wife ordered their deviled eggs. These were good and were topped with little strips of bacon and sambal. I ordered their bacon and egg fried rice topped worth chili garlic butter and was honestly the best dish of the morning. It tasted amazing and the rice was perfectly cooked. If I could I would return and just order this. It was that good. For our main dish my wife ordered their Short Rib & Potato Hash, served with kalbi jus and crunchy onions. The beef was very good. It was tender and seasoned perfectly. I ordered their fried chicken. I was looking forward to this, but I was unfortunately a little let down. Fried chicken is a guilty pleasure if mine, and I honestly didn't feel guilty eating this one. The batter was very light and airy with almost no flavor. The chicken itself was also just ok. It seems like the presentation has also changed a bit on this one. Just basically the the chicken served on top of creamed corn and then the habanero butter poured around the plate. The habanero butter was probably the best part of this dish. There is no sign outside for this place and at least for brunch it's hard to fine as the front storefront which is normally a bar was empty. (Host or anything) Once we found the place we were told even tho we requested a high chair when making the reservation that they only had one available and it was taken. Not a huge deal they gave us a table with bench seat and we made it work. The brunch cocktail menu needs alot of work. The bloody Mary's where small and had nothing to them, the mimosa was small and light on the pour. We got a good amount of food for 200 bucks but no one left ready too pop. 4 of us. Such a unique experience! I visited S.K.Y on a Wednesday evening. We had a 5pm reservation for right when they opened. The restaurant is on the corner in The Pilsen neighborhood. Paid street Parking was easy to find. And the vibe in the restaurant is gorgeous. Urban meets classy is the decor. Gorgeous yet still chill. We were the second or third table sat, but by the end of our meal the place was filled! I highly suggested making a reservation for your visit. Our waiter was very polite. She was very attentive. The team brought out a complimentary starter. A small rice cracker with puréed Edamame. There was one for each person. They said it was their take on guac and chips. Very mummy! For snacks we ordered the cornbread and the Croquettes. Both were pretty good. For entrees I selected fried chicken and the porchetta was ordered for the table. My friend ordered the Sea bass and a shapeshifter drink. She enjoyed both! I'll def be drinking next visit. Both were pretty good! I'd def be back to the restaurant to try more of the menu. Our server and the kitchen staff were friendly and fun to get to know. The food was as delicious as ever. We really enjoyed the Edamame Dip and Hamachi Sashimi. I went to S.K.Y. knowing nothing about it. We were just looking for a last minute date night spot. The service was wonderful. It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was relatively empty at 8pm. In general, I thought the food was Michelin-esque without the price tag. I was surprised that the menu seemed to have a lot of Korean influences and flavors that reminded me of home. The marinated cucumbers were overrated. You could buy essentially the same thing at H Mart. Lobster dumplings were decent. What really blew us away were the black truffle croquettes. Wow. The cheese was perfectly melted and the truffle flavor added a wonderful umami. I wish they had been a little spicy from jalapeños, but I would absolutely order these again. The seabass was wonderful. I love simple, clean, crispy skin fish with lemon. This really hit the mark. My husband and I did not agree on the short rib. I thought the seasoning was delicious and tasted so reminiscent of the Korean short ribs I grew up eating. However, there was a considerable amount of fat that my husband just couldn't get past. He found it off putting to the point of being almost inedible. As far as the desserts are concerned, I thought they were ok. Light, not overly filling, but not particularly memorable. Had one of the best meals of my life at S.K.Y. today. The dishes were unique, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Each one was impressive in its own right, but together, they made for a wonderful experience--one that I will remember for a long time. We started off with the gochujang danish. First of all, it was BEAUTIFUL. And it tasted even better than it looked. The pastry was crisp and flaky, and the chili oil gave it a nice fragrance and subtle heat. Combined with the cheese and vegetables, the danish was a perfect combination of creamy and crunchy, fresh and rich. I've never had anything like it. My mouth is watering just writing about it now. Up next was the caesar salad. It was your standard caesar salad with a nice little twist--mushrooms in the dressing and crisp nori on top. The ingredients were super fresh, and it was a nice way to balance out the heavier parts of the meal. In the shared plates category, we also ordered the lobster dumplings and truffle croquettes. The lobster dumplings were very good. They give you a generous bit of lobster in each dumpling, and although I was initially worried that the dish would be too butter-heavy, the sauce had a brightness that mellowed out the butter. The truffle croquettes, on the other hand, were a bit too salty and rich for me. The truffle flavor was strong, which was nice, but I thought it could have used something acidic to counteract the heaviness from the creamy inside and fried outside. It was still good though, albeit a bit one dimensional. For our entrees, we split the fried chicken and the bibimbap. The fried chicken looked strange coming out--not at all like what you'd get from Parson's or Popeye's--and to be honest, I was a bit worried that I would be disappointed. How wrong I was! The chicken had an amazing texture, with a perfectly crisp outside and juicy, tender inside. The sauce and corn were great accompaniments to the meat, bringing a nice flavor to the dish. The bibimbap was good, especially the pieces of thick cut bacon, but honestly it wasn't that interesting. It tasted a lot like a traditional bibimbap you could get at a traditional Korean restaurant for like half the price. We had a little more room after this, so we got the ricotta bomboloni, and let me tell you, i am so glad we did. Bombolonis are basically little donut holes, and these bombolonis were amazingly soft on the inside with a perfect dollop of salted caramel injected into the middle. It was like eating a crispy, sugary, salty, delightful little cloud, and I had to stop myself from popping them all in my mouth, one after another. A lovely way to end the meal! Unfortunately since we live in a pandemic, there isn't much ventilation besides an opening at the entrance. Cornbread madeleines - 5/5. So simple but utterly delicious. The whole kernels of corn are lovely. Maine Lobster Dumplings - 4/5. Solid execution on lobster dumplings that pops with a small bit of kick. Very unexpected and effective. Homemade burrata cheese - 3/5. Didn't quite hit the way I wanted. The burrata was grainy and the bread was overly crunchy. Crusted Salmon - 4/5. Quite salty but the potato crust works well. The greens were a relative of bok choy and served in too large of chunks and difficult to cut. Banana budino - 4.5/5. Great crunch from the pistachios, quite a fun mouthful. You can barely taste the bourbon. Fleur de cao tart - 5/5. I'm not a huge chocolate dessert fan but this was wonderfully done, great red fruit flavor complements the chocolate richness. Higher end cuisine than I'd expected in Pilsen. You've got to admit, the neighborhood is changing, and hip restaurants are not rare there these days. We had good service, excellent wine available, and we made some really great choices. Nearly everything we ordered was excellent in our group of five. Glad we did the shared plates approach. The cornbread madeleines were so delicious, we ordered some to take home for coffee time the next morning. Another highlight was a mushroom dish. All of the vegetables focused selections were excellent. Our beef and fish choices were fine, but not as impressive. I wasn't a fan of the truffle oil dessert, but honestly it reminded me that my palate isn't as sophisticated as some others' are. What I expected was different than what we received. I tried it anyway, and it was too much umami and charred/burnt flavors. It tasted like it looked, so I know it was me, not the kitchen. We'd ordered several other desserts, and I loved all the others. I was more disappointed in myself that I didn't like it. Good decor, fits in well with the intended vibe. A friend and I came recently came here for brunch on a weekend. S.K.Y. was one of the restaurants with reservations that with open ventilation etc. They opened some of their window panels that ran almost floor to ceiling for extra air flow. And they offer space heaters for your table if it gets chilly. At the time, they were open for indoor dining via reservation only. The situation may have changed since then. When we were there, we had the entire place to ourselves which was kind of nice. Staff were masked and tables were spaced out. They had extra hand sanitizer in the restrooms and laminated instructions to use a paper towel to open the doors. I felt safe and it seemed like they took covid19 protocols seriously. Masks were worn when our server approached our table. And now moving on to the food & experience. This was my first time and it was highly anticipated; I've always seen it driving by on 18th. Since I arrived first, I ordered a coffee to warm up, served in heavy ceramic mug with the cutest container of cream. When my friend arrived we immediately went into catch up mode and gabbed over drinks. It felt like years since we last saw each other, and we had to remind ourselves to browse the menu and order so that we can eventually eat too. We shared all the dishes. Korean rice noodles lacked flavor, the black truffle croquettes were on the salty overbearing side, and the foie gras bibimbop was also a bit flavorless. The Foie gras didn't really add anything. I would have preferred an egg instead (and it made the whole thing too oily). Some of the staff were pretentious and just kind of strange as well (though our server was lovely). Prices were quite high compared to other things you can get in the area and the city in general. Went to SKY for brunch with a reservation and was a great experience overall. Warning: Parking is a nightmare, so come a little before the reservation so you can find a spot (street parking). Also the restaurant doesn't have much signage so it's a little difficult to find the entrance. See picture below for what is actually the front door. First off, my partner and I have been here many times over the past two years. I don't write many reviews but my latest visit led me to share this. S.K.Y seems to have it all at a glance, good bar, ambiance, good food, and a well considered wine menu. Where it begins to crack is the service. There is a tangible feeling of anxiety, some sort of pressure to leave as soon as possible (mind you, most nights we've been are relatively quiet). I don't think it's the waiters fault as much as the pressure from management, it's as if they are trained to make an otherwise relaxing experience uncomfortable and rushed. This is one of the best restaurants in Chicago hands down. Everything was so delicious and the flavors are incredible. I will say the short rib hash was a bit salty for me and the bibimbap isn't anything special, so I'd get something else over the bibimbap next time. The novelty of the menu was what drawn us at first place and we did not regret it. I especially loved the bimbibap

Came here for Sunday brunch. Overall a good experience. The brunch included 3 courses for $29. Except for the second course, we ordered different items to be able to try more. Each dish had good flavors. I really enjoyed the mushroom salad in combo with the goat cheese. The sauce with the charred broccoli was great, though I wish there were more than 4 pieces of broccoli. The bacon and egg fried rice was literally just that, but still enjoyable. The short rib and potato hash probably topped the fried chicken. I assume due to the slowness of service, they gave us a sampler of little treats to enjoy while we waited. Each one was tasty in their own way. As for drinks, we had a beer and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary didn't have any rim salt and was pretty small for $8. Considering it was brunch, they should put a little more effort into the Bloody. read more
