Such a cute cafe, much needed in that area! The traditional ceremony was a nice touch. Definitely will be back

Rose Ave Bakery has been on my radar since early this year! I finally made it to DC this weekend…read moreand this was naturally our first stop. They are open until 1 PM on Saturdays, we reached at around 11:30 AM and I was half hoping for them to be out of most items. Fortunately, even though they were super packed, we were able to find all of the items we were looking for - thanks to the hard working staff as they continue to make their pastries until closing - unlike so many other bakeries these days that make a certain amount and call it a day! Now to the food, everything we had was absolutely phenomenal! I am not a donut person but I loved theirs as they were very flavorful and weren't too sweet. I definitely prefer their Ube and Pandan over the Black sesame donut. The Matcha chocolate croissant and the Ube Kouign Amann were my favorites of the bunch! I cannot recommend them enough, this will surely be my first stop every time I am in DC!

It must be said that I received the items cold and tasted them cold and reheated. Matcha Chocolate Twice Baked croissant - 6/10 - this rating is about my personal taste, not the quality of the croissant. I'm sure this is a matcha lovers dream and I was impressed by how much filling was in the croissant, especially considering the filling didn't affect the texture of the bread. This was good cold but even better reheated. Bread still had a crunch and the filling consistency was great, but again just not my thing. Strawberry milk - 10/10 - can I curse real quick ? £#%K this was delicious. I could put this filling on just about anything and be satisfied. It was rich but not overly sweet and paired really well with the pastry. I do not know how they manage to have the pastry keep its shape with the amount of filling they're putting inside but I appreciate it. The pastry has a great bite to it and the pearls and frosting adding a slight contrast to the texture was needed because too much of one texture creeps me out. I took a look at their menu and absolutely want to try their cookies the mango sweet tart, and the Ube Cheese Kouign Amann so I will be back !

It was light and had a good, but not too overpowering flavor, and it was overly sweet. It tasted like a real doughnut made with good ingredients. The price point of the doughnuts reflects the quality of the ingredients. The owner is very nice and happy to explain the various flavors if you asked. He was very helpful! He told me that if you want the popular flavors, try to get there before 1pm because they sell out, as you can see in one of the photos. Enjoy your life and treat yourself to a Handcraft Doughnut!

Our donut was light and fluffy, with a creme infused with real banana. You can tell that they are being thoughtful on their approach to artisanal donuts, and it really shows up in how they elevate this classic dessert. Its rare to find donuts that balance complex flavors, sweetness level, and good crumb but all of those things are what make it distinct fom others, especially chain restaurant donuts. Of course, these are probably made the day of and ours was a large and substantial size. Its definitely a treat-yourself type of moment to commit to the price point, but we weren't disappointed. My take on high‑price‑point food in Union Market is simple: that's exactly where you'll find it. So once you let go of that once you enter, you have a more pleasureable experience by allowing yourself to indulge and try to find the thing that will really fulfill you. And they did that for me. Thank you beautiful ladies who helped me select my donut!

I recently had time to explore a little while in DC, and a charming PINK building caught my eye…read morewhile taking a walk. I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out! Tell them Anisha from Milwaukee sent you! (Not that they'd remember it just sounds cute!)

There is a vast sweets menu. 12 cobbler flavors and banana puddings options along with biscuits and cinnamon rolls. It's a relaxed vibe with r&b music going. There is also ice cream. It's standard vanilla with toppings. I got Nutella and wife got butterfinger. It's hand scooped ice cream. And the toppings are generous. Service is ok. You don't get service with a smile. A short jaunt the hotel and squarely in downtown, it's an all things cobbler themed spot. Kids got Mac and cheese with meat, plus a mini cobbler, and my better half and I shared a "biscuit cobbler" - which was effectively a delicious biscuit over top a thick soup. It was solidly in the pretty good category. A little cold in the middle but it filled me up. The biscuits were excellent - like Bojangles good (Biscuit connoisseurs will feel that!). The Mac and cheese was good and the cobblers were solid. The mini cobbler was like $2 and came as part of a combo. Get that - enough to get a good taste, but not massive. The banana pudding (the bourbon walnut specifically) was the show stopper for me. I'm sure it's gonna box, but it was really good! The woman helping us was very nice and got us served and fed quickly. Not an every day spot, but an, I'm walking by and feeling like dessert at 2 pm sort of spot for sure!
