When entering a Columbian Restaurant, one expects to fill their nostrils with the wonderful smell of Rotisserie Chicken and other wonderful ethnic aromas. Not the case here...not that any place should smell but its not inviting to sit in a rather uninspired dining room with no clue as to what they are serving until its set in front of you. We have been here several times and found the food to be OK, but when compared to Pollos El Pais in Westbury, it doesnt hold a candle for food or ambiance. The Chicharron was anemic but the Empaneda was delicious. I did see some sort of fried fish pass by that looked enticing! maybe next time. Again given the choice, this would be a good place to bring kids, but for adult eating and partying...the obvious choice would not be SAC. read more

Everything was great! I went with a party of 4 on a Friday night and we had about a 15-20 min wait. Once seated, our waiter was very attentive. Have been passing this place for years and always thought about going but never did. Finally tried it this evening with some friends. The food on the whole was not bad, The chicken was very thin and dried out. The steak dish I ordered was also on the thin side, but tasty. Salad was very small and kind of wilted lol. Was a party of 15 on a Friday afternoon, they could not handle us. Food good, service not so good. Had to get up 7x to ask for basic service. My husband & his friend would have had more drinks but the waitress never came back to ask them. The first 2x I had to get up to ask for their drinks. My nephew's food both appetizer & lunch plate never came out on time, another 2x I had to get up looking for the waitress for his food. Then the messed up my mothers plate, again had to get ip, waitress not around. During one of the times I got up, they took my utensils, & had to get up again to ask for new ones. I brought my cake then was going to order dessert, but the waitress never came to ask for dessert, I got up again to ask for dessert menus to order before the cake, couldn't find her, the cake came out, decided to cut my losses & not order any desserts. Didn't want to have to get up again. The fact that they automatically charged me a 20% service charge on my bill when service wasn't good, just not right! I think it's very unfortunate that I have been a patron of Sabor Colombia for many years. Tonight I found out that Adriana the original owner sold it to a 25-year-old cocky young boy with no experience in business. I placed my order and they brought out all of the food and drinks at the same time appetizers salad and all. My order was completely wrong and I sent it back and they were bringing me a new order. Much to my dismay this young two month olowner of this business came at me like a pitbull to my table almost telling me I needed to pay for my order that still had not arrived at my table and I was no longer hungry for it. came here on a Saturday night at 7:30pm for a party of 10, they don't take reservations unless you are a party of 20+. we got there and put our name and number down. we waited for 2 hours to be seated. which we expected a wait but 2 hours? not only that we got a text stating our table was ready which we were happy about because of the long wait then the hosts come tells us she will set the table and then bring us over fine, we see another group of 10 people get seated at the table we were literally on our way to. we of course spoke up and said to the host what going on she stated that they are now waiting for the table to be clean? the lying to our faces was seriously unbelievable. then a second host told us they have to splits us up into 2 tables that aren't even near each other and if not then we have to wait longer after waiting TWO hours? then we obviously start getting mad we told them that's unbelievable and we asked for the manager. Turns out the manager was the one who told the party of 10 who was waiting there for 30 minutes or less they can sit there, she stated she assumed that they were the ones waiting for that table. she didn't even double check with anyone who was going to that table as a manger that clearly shows you have no Communcation with your staff let alone know what you're doing. she stated all she can do for us is a round of shots? like is that supposed to make things any better. this isn't even the worst part, they have a 'SECURITY" who comes in a 9 who after we were talking to the manager comes up to us while we are trying to figure out if we should stay or go comes up to us AGGRESSVILEY come and demands only to US to see our ids and starts getting loud and making a big show because after waiting 2 and half hours while he was standing there for 30 mins looking at us he decided it was right to single us out and ask for our ids we refused because out of the whole time being there he only asked us, and it not like we weren't of age that we didn't want to give them but 1. you aren't asking anyone else 2. you are being so aggressive and loud 3. you're demanding it saying we have to if not we need to leave? we told the manager again and she didn't do anything about. it was already too late to leave we just settled and decided to stay being that most of us were just tired at this point and just wanted to go eat and leave. Due to COVID, they now have an outdoor seating area with portable heaters. I have been coming here for several years. You are usually seated right away. Empanadas are always delicious. Went to the newly opened Sabor a Colombia on Sunday night. Food was amazing. Great job with the new location. As much as I LOVED that there was live music just felt it was way too loud. Especially considering it was early in the evening. But I know they just opened up and might still need to tweak some things. Will definitely go back maybe just to listen to music and have a drink. Because the ambience and service were good. But I like to eat and talk. I know sounds crazy since most people don't talk during dinner. After we waited 20 minutes my wife walked across the restaurant to find the hostess and ask about a server. We finally got someone to take our order. We had to wait about 45-50 minutes for our food which was not good at all. I ordered the Churrasco which is a $38 sirloin but I was served a cheap chewy piece of meat. Not really sure what all the fuss is about. The location is off of hempstead turnpike and you have to find parking in the lot thats designated for all the businesses. The service is good and they are quick with bringing the drinks and food to you. The sangria is water down and the food was just ok for me. Im hispanic and have tried a lot of colombian restaurants. The portions were generous but there was nothing about the dishes that really blew me away. One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was their mediocre service. They were inattentive and aloof. At the beginning of our dinner I asked the server for some water, what I didn't know was that it would take him close to 10 minutes to send someone over to the table to drop off a glass of warm tap water with no ice. Gross! The amount of time we spent afterward trying to get an employee to bring us ice (to cool the water down) was absurd. I know at times I tend to be inpatient but I just can't relate to people who are sucky at their jobs. As customers we are paying for the food and the experience, please make it a good one. The food is always good here and they give you large portions even at lunch. The wait staff is able to answer questions if you are new to Colombian food and the place is always clean. I live close and go for lunch or pick up for dinner and the food hasn't disappointed me yet and we always have lunch for the next day or enough to feed extra people. Came here with my parents on their recommendation. We started off with empanadas, which are apparently made as you order, right there in the restaurant..probably one of the best colombian empanada's i've ever had. We had the soursop juice with water, which was delicious. -I ordered the colombian platter...the steak was tasty and not dry, the beans were delicious, the rice was perfectly cooked, plantains deliciously sweet and perfectly cooked..basically everything was perfect and i kept saying yum with each bite!! -S.O ordered this salmon dish i think it was salmon with garlic sauce...it was a HUGE piece of salmon that melted like butter in your mouth with each bite...had some sort of bbq sauce drizzled which just added to the flavor of the beautiful dish. -My father ordered this steamed whole fish that came with this AMAZING broth (think butter seafood soup???) and the fish was beautifully cooked, it had a coconut milk flavor to it. -The Garlic shrimp were delicious, it is a creamy garlic sauce they make, and the shrimp was perfectly cooked, and nicely sized. This restaurant is a place i would have never gone into, from the outside it is strangely decorated with the bright blue signs, but the inside is clean and beautiful, very friendly staff, and BEAUTIFULLY plated and delicious food.
