The hospitable woman working here who took my order told me the dish is served with a sweet plantain, but I didn't realize it was a whole plantain sliced in half lengthwise until I got home. You get the sweet plantain over rice with the savory beef stew in a separate container to pour over the rice and plantain. I wish I had taken a picture of it all before devouring it. The beef stew is tender and savory. I only wish they were more generous with the beef. There are potatoes and carrots in there and probably onions that have been cooked down and hidden in the thick gravy. I can see eating this year round, particularly on a cold snowy day in February, hard to imagine this summer with temperatures regularly hitting the nineties.
