The best outcome was lots of leftovers for entrees priced on the higher side for Portuguese food.

This was my first time trying Sabor Unido, I decided to give it a shot after reading all the good reviews on Yelp. I ordered for delivery, and the first good thing I noticed about Sabor Unido is the lady who took my order was very friendly, unlike A LOT of other places around here where the person taking orders sounds like a straight up miserable A$$4073 and has a terrible attitude problem. Oh! And she spoke English pretty well, thank god, because my Spanish and Portuguese are definitely still a work in progress! Anyways, the food arrived fairly quickly (approx. 25 min) I ordered the whole roasted chicken. It was absolutely delicious! The meat literally fell off of the bone and was so soft, juicy, and flavourful. The two reasons I did not give this restaurant the complete 5 stars is because the rice that came with the meal was plain white rice. For me white rice is very dull and boring, especially with a meal of that fantastic flavor. They didn't have any Spanish yellow rice on the menu, that is the reason why I didn't ask for that instead. And my second reason for not giving a 5 star rating is because the portion was not much. I ordered a whole order and for $17 anywhere else in Ironbound you get a plethora of food. What an absolutely wonderful restaurant ! Everything was prepared with such care and with a great presentation. My wife and I had the chicken marsala which was very tasty . The portions were generous. We both had sides of mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach and both again were excellent. The bread ,the very kind and appealing waitress brought us ,was fresh and very good and the dessert that she recommended was out of this world. Our decaf cappuccino was the best I've ever had and the whipped cream that came with it was the real delicious deal no junk from a bag or a can. I had been eager to try this place for a while, and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival, I found convenient parking nearby and walked into a small, charming spot. My friend was already there and ordering with our waitress who was fantastic! We began with a pitcher of sangria, which was delicious. For food, we had garlic shrimp, mushroom risotto, yucca, and octopus, all of which arrived after about 20 minutes. Everything looked and tasted excellent, with the mushroom risotto being my favorite. I cannot recommend this place enough. My friend wanted Brazilian. I did a Google search and said, "let's go here I have a good felling" well kudos to my feelin!! What a great place. I am gushing over the meal we had here. From amazing craft cocktails to an unforgettable dinner. Raphael, Julia, and Louis spoiled us. The cocktails were in fun glasses and were light and flavorful. We ordered entirely off the specials menu: oxtail, steak, and pork. All the mains were great - really flavorful and well cooked. The steak picana and the garlic shrimp were amazingly good and flavorful. The side dishes all delicious and authentic. I am thinking this might be common to Portuguese cuisine, but bc I don't know that feel sure I won't start it as fact. It was fantastic -- bright, fruity, and clearly made with fresh ingredients rather than a sugary mix. Yum! PRO TIP #1: Bring cash. Chateau of Spain has added a 4% surcharge for credit card payments. PRO TIP #2: Check your bill. A 15% gratuity is automatically included on all checks. Our server was great and explicitly pointed this out to avoid any confusion, but keep it in mind when calculating an extra tip.

They also brought out three different types of bread with butter and olives while I waited, which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself was very clean, spacious, and had plenty of seating available. My server was friendly, attentive, and the service was very fast. My only downside was the pricing. Even the lunch specials felt a bit expensive, and I wish there were more budget-friendly options overall. Aside from that, I had a great experience and would definitely consider coming back with family. :-)

A pleasant group outing in the Ironbound with a few notable findings…read more * This place is upscale, but in the middle of nowhere, relatively speaking. There are residences adjacent, industry across the street, and nothing screams "upscale" about the neighborhood. * There are no small portions, and there are no small prices. You will pay a lot here. You will get a lot, and it will be good, but be ready. Our arrival was leisurely, to say the least. We were seated promptly and served olives, followed by the rustic bread they are paired with, and then oil to paint the bread. These should all have come out together. The bread came in three varieties: soft fresh sourdough, wheat, and slices that were rather sweet. And any time the bread was finished, more bread came out. But for some reason, the menus did not. It took an unusually long time for the menus - meanwhile, the drink menus were on the table the moment we sat down... And then when we were not quite ready to order, they left us alone for a long time before we motioned for them to get our order. And then it took a long time for food to arrive, though with 12 people that's understandable. At the best restaurants, they'll get a few waiters to bring all 12 dishes at once. Ours arrived a few at a time, but at least in succession so that no one person (me being last) waited for minutes beyond the others. I had the grilled octopus special. It was very tasty, cooked well, with a great grilled flavor but rather over-oiled. Others got gigantic paellas and every one of them took at least half home to go. For those prices, you'd better get at least two meals out of it! * So, the last and most notable finding: Beware of deceit. We ordered two sangria pitchers. They asked for our third one, but then just brought a fourth to the table and started refilling glasses without even asking anyone. I do not believe that was comped, but that's not my department. They asked if people wanted water, and then started filling our water glasses with artisan bottled water. They were happy to keep our water refilled, and I guarantee those were also on our bill. Verdict: You have three choices. Either arrive here with someone who will stay sober and mindful of what is being brought to the table; arrive here as a group with cost-no-object and drink, enjoy, pay whatever they charge you; or skip. Because getting food to-go here seems to miss the point of the atmosphere and the experience. I was in the second of the three choices, and I'm capable of the first, but I won't blame you for choosing to go elsewhere and get Portuguese food at a fairer value.

I had to ask for water, for whatever reason it's not something they just give you, when you sit down. I was given a good cocktail, but once finished no one came to check and ask if i wanted another. I got full fast so was in and out quick. it wasn't insanely busy, i'd come friday during the day. i would like to give this place another shot with friends perhaps, maybe lack of service is because i wanted to go alone.

After confirming we were going with the full rodizio experience, she explained we had access to their hot buffet/salad bar, and the staff would soon come with skewers of meat. At $45 per person, Taste of Brazil is signficantly cheaper than other rodizio restaurants in the area. The meat selection is very similar to the other rodizio restaurants in the Ironbound, but I will note that they did not have beef rib. I would have scored them higher, but I found most of the beef options to be kind of tough. My favorite meat options coming around were the lamb, chicken, and chicken hearts. We ended our meal with the grilled pineapple covered in cinnamon and grilled cheese with honey. Both were delicious. Parking is a pain the area, but at their price point, I'd go again.
