You grab the ingredients, you spread on the toppings with both arms, and you dance it all around. That is how we got warmed up to race. Parking, at 7:15 was fast and right across the street: $10 Packet pick-up: Easy cheesy. Porto potties: At least they had them, right? Bag check: Free! They have a security guard watching over them. Obstacles: An adult playground. There was a back-up at the first obstacle, as they wanted people to get into groups of 8. That wasn't working, so it was more like awkward waves. A large bouncy pad with about 6 semi-tall barriers you launch yourself over. It was surprisingly challenging. There were: Two elevated slip & slides into shallow pools of water. One was supposed to have foam but it wasn't pumping correctly. A huge swirling cross pad, you had to run with it or against it along a narrow platform. Inflated balls that you had to balance and jump across. I made it onto the first one and couldn't stand up to launch to the next, so I flung off the side and laughed as I bounced to the ground. An inner tube water slide into a pool of water. A leap of faith onto an inflated bulls eye. Two huge rotating balls that chased you, as you tried to run across a slippery plank. I almost made it but lost my footing on the last step, splooosh! Two large stair/rope climbs to slides. The last one will give you a wedge. We only waited a couple of minutes to take an optional finisher photo and they handed us our medals. I love the photo opportunities, you scan your bracelet before you get onto the obstacle and they snap a picture of you. Bouncy, bouncy,..fun, fun, fun, fun, fun.

As soon as I stepped onto it I sunk so far I could feel the ground underneath my feet. I'm not exactly heavy either at 102lb. ''Jumping'' from one to the other was in no way possible nor an option. That's some lass ass bs excuse of an obstacle. Previous years this has been my favorite. - No foam on the ''Foam of Fury'', just water. Seriously?! - Not enough water on the ''Cool'' Running's''. Out of the 40 or so people that I saw tried to go down it they all had to get off and walk to the the end (where you are supposed to land in the pool) because friction had them stop. Myself included. Lame. - VIP entry I got my tech shirt upgrade but Hubs didn't. + You actually got a medal this year. + Vendors after the event handing out drinks. Neutral: You had a tag on your wristband which you swipe at obstacles to indicate you wanted your picture taken. I'm neutral on this because for the price of the registration fee I feel this should be included. My advice for the event organizers - Have the obstacles as advertised and either 1. reduce the price of registration (upwards of $65 plus fee's for a 5k is obscene) 2. Add more obstacles.

So, this year I figured we'd up the game a little and do some archery. Not willing to go out and buy a whole bow & arrow set, the next logical thing was to look around and see if anyone offers lessons. Well, I didn't have to look far, as Bowhunters Unlimited (BU) made it all too easy. The Good: *Just contact them thru their website and they'll put you in touch with a member that offers lessons. We lucked out and were matched with Linda, whom I believe is the VP of BU. She was terrific. Very patient, but stern, with a group of precocious teenagers. *They offer yearly memberships for $40/year for unlimited shooting. *BU is a private club that operates in a closed off section of Stevens Creek County Park. The area is beautiful and a great spot for outdoor activities. *Small paved lot w/ port-o-potties *The lesson was much, much cheaper than you'd think. $150/4 ppl for 90min is a bargain in this area of the world. This price includes the bows, arrows, and lessons. The Meh: *The drive up is very windy. So if you're really carsick, then this ain't gonna be for you. *Cell phone signal is spotty at best. Sometimes you have signal and sometimes you don't. It's very odd. The Ugly: *Bugs! So many bugs! I don't know what it is about this corner of the park, but we were being harassed severely by some kinda fly. Fortunately they don't bite, but imagine trying to focus on shooting while bugs fly around your face. Fortunately, I had some bug spray in the car, so that helped a lot. When I booked my trip, everything was simple and clear. The climbing instructor and guide, Rick, who also runs the school, was very professional and knowledgeable about the area and the rock. He was both directive and encouraging. Safety was the number one priority, with the second being having a great experience. I was definitely challenged and felt really accomplished at the end of my half-day. Getting one-on-one instruction was the best way to improve and climb on rock I had never climbed before. Thank you! Met up with Rick (owner/operator) and Matt (guide) at Castle Rock state park as instructed. Pretty easy drive from downtown SF to get there by 8am on a Saturday. Rick was great. We showed up somewhat less than prepared, no snacks, limited water, forgot the waivers and no bug spray. Between Rick and Matt, they patched us together and we had a blast. We're from IL, so clearly Novice level, but the location offered a variety of climbs to broaden skills while keeping it fun. Excited to get to Bend, OR and look Rick up again as he has a new location that just opened there!

Easy to get to, and not too far from 85 freeway. First time here was many years ago at the Taste of Archery event for kids, and they loved it. This is a ride I enjoy to go on during the park. Beware the hours from from 11am to 6pm on most of…read morethe days. It can go to 8pm in the summer months, but it does have a specific opening and closing hours usuall at 11am. The best time to go is usually in the morning or at night when the line is a walk on. In the afternoon, the line can be an hour long easily but that is when it is the hottest. This ride is a hit or miss when getting wet. You get wet the most when people use the geysers to soak you. There is parts where you get bumped hard on the edges and then when you hit the wave you will get wet as well and your shoes soaked. I have not gotton drenched yet on the ride. You do dry off fast which is great. I believe they have dryers for $5 dollars as well.

It used to be called Survivor the ride, but since Cedar Fair bought them out it is called tiki twirl. The line can get really long, but the longest we have waited is 30 minutes. The nice thing is they have a cart to put in your belongings and you drop it off. Then at the end of the ride you exit the other side and pick up your things. Ride experience, not too bad considering, I do not like rides that go in circles as it makes me dizzy. It is overall fun and a good 3 minute ride. You get use the motion after awhile.

Fun fun fun fact seriously try to sit with all adults as if you ride with kids even if they are behind you both share the same lap bar so if one closes it on you it's really right even for me! There are a few seat belts and the one that attaches to the bar to make it just that much tighter on you so don't forget about that little thing because you know you want it on! Once you've been strapped down to the car you try going and that's when you realize this whole becoming restrained part was totally worth it as you find yourself riding heavy down this radical wooden coaster like I said it rides heavy but you don't feel it as the whole ride is very smooth and just awesome coaster ride in it's own way which makes me kinda forget that I've been strapped down to the car the whole review through! One thing I've noticed at the park over the several few Grizzly rides is that the time of the ride opening seems to be later after the park is already open for a busy minute so plan accordingly! Overall awesome coaster for anyone but like I said don't ride with the kids if you don't have to!
