    We beat the lock!
    Catherine N.

We wanted a quick weekend activity for a group and found Beat the Lock had openings (maybe for a reason). The puzzles were difficult but not impossible. My main gripe was the room was not reset properly (locks were left open, things were possible to bypass with force). It felt less professionally made than other escape rooms I've done. By the end, the game keeper didn't acknowledge there were mistakes. I liked some aspects of the External Forces room overall, but I felt other companies do a better job.

I've come here a few times now, always keep coming back. Great games! Great time! For today's game, "Sound of Murder", every clue was well designed and well thought out. Jessica was a wonderful host guiding us and helping us in time for the hard clues and at times we were going on a tangent. Thank you very much!

Though we arrived 15 minutes as instructed, our room was not ready until 20 minutes after our scheduled start time. This was fun - Person who helped us, Jake was very kind and patient with us. We did the spy room. We asked for quite a few clues 6-8 as we were overthinking a lot of the items. Barely made it out! Would go again!

The staff were nice enough to be able to accommodate our group running late, since no one booked the room after us, which we really appreciated. But that's probably the only thing I appreciated about the experience. That and the fact that the pricing only came out to about $37 each (on the cheaper end for most escape rooms), but we got what we paid for -- a cheap experience. We do escape rooms on a regular basis (our current favorite is Omescape in Sunnyvale! Go there instead), so we have many other experiences to compare this one to. We did the Xternal Forces room. I hate having to ask for hints, but we had to start at some point because the reference map for one of the puzzles was so difficult to understand/read. The game master was showing us clues on the screen, but the screen in the second room was disconnected so they had to send someone in mid-game to fix it. And there were so many clues per puzzle, which shows that there are many other groups who encountered the same frustrating issues -- the puzzles were not clear enough nor thought-out enough. I don't want to give away any of the specifics that went wrong because I wouldn't want to spoil the puzzles for anyone who does come. But just know -- it's not worth it. We passed, but instead of feeling accomplished, I left just feeling frustrated.

    3 SECONDS TO SPARE

First time going to an escape room and definitely not the last. We arrived early checked in and filled out forms on our phones. We had to wait 10-15 mins to start bc there was a large group ahead of us. My group was 5 people but would have been 7 if two didn't cancel. The game master took us to a murder mystery room and explained all the rules and let us start. We took a long time in the first room and finally asked for a clue to move forward. Once in the second room we finally got a hang of it but still asked for more clues. She was a bit hard to hear sometimes but we figured it out with THREE seconds to spare. A win is a win . We had lots of fun and found the clues to be very creative. I would definitely recommend this location for small group events.

If you want a challenge, this is the escape room for you! If you're running late, there's no way you can adjust your reservation. We were roughly about 10 minutes late and our time already started. Despite being late, they still let us in and try to finish the escape room with the time we had left. Unlike other escape rooms, the escape room master here was quite absent throughout our entire experience. We were lost for a majority of the time and the escape room master would only give us hints after a significant amount of time being lost. The second and last time the escape room master gave us a clue was literally a minute before our time ended. Not sure if they were understaffed that day, but I wished the escape room master was more present. The escape room we did was Secrets in the Attic which I thought had some really cool elements. Even if we were not late, I think the extra 10 minutes still would not have been sufficient enough to resolve the entire puzzle.

We got out in 47 minutes!! Freedom!

The workshop also provided a few snacks such as crackers, ham cheese, brownies, soft drinks. The workshop for the Christmas tree was split in two days because on the first day you have to glue the mosaic to the tree and on the second day, you apply the grout. So make sure that you have allocated enough time in your calendar for both. it was quite a relaxing workshop and I found that I actually slept much better overnight, which was an added benefit! I really enjoyed myself and hope to check out their calendar for other workshops to take. The studio is at the back of the instructors house and it is also open during weekends over certain hours for open studio. I noticed that some of the people working on their own pieces during open studio were doing some phenomenal pieces. There is a huge assortment of mosaic that you can use in your creations. Highly recommended.

He would then focus on his own pieces instead of checking on how to students were doing. The classes rarely started on time because the instructor would be eating their late lunch and would consistently forget what he taught us the previous week. Because there was poor time management, we would be working on pieces and then 15 minutes before the class would end, we would be told we have to start cleaning up so everyone would rush to finish what they were doing Because there was barely any hands on instruction, I was constantly watching online videos from other pottery instructors before class to teach myself the tips I was missing from my own instructor The studio also lacked a proper storage system, so every single week we came in, our pieces were in a different place which made it extremely difficult to find our work -- I lost a few pieces because of this The overall experience has been so disappointing and a waste of time and money - if you are serious about making pottery a hobby, I would suggest looking for a different pottery studio
