Got the chicken shawarma pita, with a variety of toppings/filling. I can't remember the names of everything but we got Hummus, Turkish Salad, beets, and carrots, as well as some of the hot sauce in the pita. Very bad experience, first of all,, no room to move, the place has dairy food and meat and a marketplace altogether in a very small place. to sit down, is so squeezed as a lot of of the furniture used for storing more products to sell. People are fighting and screaming loud in the kitchen., boss we're treating badly the new staff. Super hot and sweaty to sit down and eat as there is no AC on. I was really craving a sufganiyot and there are few places that can satisfy it. So I've been wanting to try this place. While Hanukkah is a few weeks away, they sell jelly ones all year round. The deli is very small and old school. Not a problem if the food is good. I bought a falafel, an apple strudel and a sufganiyot. The falafel had an option of up to 4 toppings, which was fun, but the falafel themselves were only so so. Filling if you don't mind. The apple strudel had a nice flaky pastry but was marred by the saucy filling, no apple pieces anywhere. The most disappointing was the cold donut filled with a watery strawberry jelly. I had to throw away half because it was not enjoyable to eat. I would hope that the donuts are fresher during Hanukkah, but I won't be returning to find out. read more

I stumbled upon this tiny deli by chance and, immediately, I was brought back to the kosher Mom-and-Pop shops of my youth in Montreal: small, cluttered, nothing to write home about decor-wise, a few dingy tables, but wow, a full display case containing traditional Jewish pastries and cookies and latkes and knishes and more. Halvah? Yes! In different varieties, no less. Bagels? Yes! And the good kinds, reminiscent of Montreal types (not exactly Montreal bagels, but still good. I got the sesame kind and they were chewy and fresh and delicious). And you can order various challahs, too, for the holidays. It's High Noon on the Eve of the Jewish New Year. A Have Dozen people are waiting to pick up there orders. In my mind the order is simple. A Sweet Round Challah, and Honey Cake to Accent our Holiday Table. As I approached the cash Customers asked give not only there name but phone numbers as well to ID there prepicked order. I'm not good with lines So when I saw a table with Challah's cooling. I thought great! Looks like a self serve area to me so I bag a Sweet Challah and approached the register. The Owner shouts in Hebrew to stop the action I put down the Challah. I then apologized got back to my spot in-line. I watch as people who no longer know to use cash do business with a store that is set up as a cash business. Now it my Turn, I know I had to be efficient. I asked for a Round Sweet Challah and and Honey Cake, The Proprietor says No Sweet Challah all presold. I was crushed, because I like the Owner, I decided to give him a break in pubic, (I am honestly not sure what the proper move was). Maybe I should have made a scene and Demanded a Round Challah. Then I felt philosophical decided someone may needed that Challah on there table then I did. The Owner recovered when he personally made two wonderful falafel for us which we brought home and ate for lunch. read more

This is the worst deli I have ever been to. First the waitress got our order wrong. We asked for Matzo ball soup for two and got one. Two sandwiches and got 1 1/2 Then the Pastrami sandwich was dry toasted white bread, no butter, no mustard nothin on top. Maybe 1-1 1/2 slices of Pastrami and cucumber and lettuce. One half of the sandwich was the crust turned inside out!!! I returned it and asked for them to bring me a proper sandwich and the waitress came back with a dry piece of white toast! read more

I had a falafel on pita. Love the Israeli style topping options, of which you can choose up to four (plus hot sauce if ya want). It was good. Pita and falafel were fresh tasting. Next time, I'll mix the toppings up a bit, and maybe get the Vegetarian version of Shawirma. I was told by a fellow customer it's a product of Israel. Had I known, I would have tried this time. The cashier and cooks were very prompt, courteous and helpful. They have some Kosher imported Israeli products, but are more expensive compared to some other area Kosher importers, for the same product. Maybe they don't buy in bulk. I don't know. read more

The bakery and the restaurant are two completely different experiences. Restaurant: This was the worst shawarma I've ever had. The meat was dry, old, bland. Salads lacked flavor and humus was eh. I only forced myself to eat it because I was hungry and already made the trip from downtown. Falafel was a bit better but only mediocre. Seating is a bit dated too. 1 star. Bakery: I tried a few different pastries and knishes. All were great, especially the nanaimo bar. This is the only reason it's not a 1 star review. Stick to the bakery only for the future. read more

Sabra's a nice restaurant with great hummus, tahina, and veggies for falafel. I loved their shakshuka, too! My husband and I had breakfast there several times there and really enjoyed it! Buyers beware!! This place rips off its customers! I went in for a falafel, which I had in pita, then put into a bag. The server behind the counter asked me if I wanted to eat in or take away. I said eat in. I was then shown to a table. She then walked 5 feet and hand me the falafel. When I went to pay, she told me they were charging an additional 15% because I "dined in". And then asked if I was ok with that. I said I was absolutely not ok with that! Firstly, having someone walk around a counter 5 feet to a table with a falafel in a bag and then charge for 'dine in' is ridiculous. Secondly, isn't a service fee normally optional? Why should one person sitting at a deserted restaurant taking no longer than 5 minutes to eat a falafel in a bag be given no choice in adding a gratuity to a bill? And thirdly, perhaps most importantly, how about telling the customer up front that if you choose to dine in you will be automatically charged a service fee!! So she tells me that they won't charge me again (but proceeds to add it in anyway). Next time?? There is no next time! Note to owner: ripping people off like this is what gives Israelis a bad name. read more

I don't kno what to say...I went to buy challah bread expecting it to be awesome but it wasn't. It was Friday and I didn't need to reserve one and just popped in. It was $5.95 and it was more expensive than Breka bakery and not as good or "eggy" as i hoped. I 'll stick to Breka for Challah. read more

Delicious falafal that is made to order. Tons of toppings that you can put in the pita with the scrumption fried balls to make it your own. It can be a bit slow on the service, especially at lunch, but definitely worth a few minute wait. Baked goods are equally tasty, especially the bubkah. read more
