We got some takeout from their 9th street location. Employees that work here were almost friendly. Portions are very big. You can probably order less than you think. We ordered a whole (it was giant) sized meatball sandwich to split among the 2 of us. There was lots of food that could easily be split among 3 people. The meatballs were very very soft and mealy and fell apart. They tasted just ok and needed some more flavor. The meatballs were more like sloppy joes than a meatball. Maybe the meatbals were overcooked. We assumed that ordering homemade meatballs would be safe but I was wrong. One thing to note is that the sides were tasty. I mostly ate sides for lunch and left the meatball slop. I might try a cheesesteak next time if nothing else was around. Not the worst, but skip the meatballs and try something else. We eat at Saccos Ocean City occasionally and it is always good. Service is always friendly and prompt. As far as the food goes they don't skimp on quality or quantity and you won't leave hungry. At lunch yesterday I had a capp salami and cheese and my daughter had a cheesesteak with a side of fries, with two drinks our bill was $25.00. Good bang for the buck. Ordered four items. Steak sub, Italian sub, fries and a salad. Asked for lettuce and tomatoes on the side (not there,) Italian sub (filled with low quality meat, little other,) greasy, soggy fries, brown lettuce in salad. The steak sub was pretty good. Friends ordered later that day. They were not thrilled with their food either. We are local. Either way, improvement should be a priority. read more

First time, last time. We ordered two burgers and a chicken parm sub for delivery. They wrapped the food in plastic, which by the time it was delivered had steamed the bread well enough that it fell apart in our hands when we picked it up - gross. The chicken was so tough that it bit back. This is my 10th summer in Ocean City, NJ... and this ranks as the worst food we've had here ever. I've never posted a review, much less a negative one.. but this was so bad that I want anyone who reads this to steer clear of this place. I lived in Ocean City 20 years ago and I used to eat Sack O Subs all the time on my way home from work. Every time I came into OC I thought about grabbing a cheesesteak and I never did. Until today. I gave into my craving, nervous that I would be disappointed. I was wrong. Fast friendly service! Called in my order ahead of time while I was sitting on the beach photographing the surfers and it was ready when I got there. I waited until I got home to open it and I was pleasantly surprised that it looked the same! And tasted just as great as I remember. Sack O' Subs food is consistently good throughout their whole menu. You know you are going to have an excellent meal no matter what you order. We frequently enjoy their cold and hot subs--Turkey is one of my favorites. The Sack O' Special is stuffed with meat and cheese. Their vegetarian calzone is fantastic. Lucky for Ocean City that they stay open all year and have a southend shop in the summer. read more

I had not been in Sack O Subs in over 5 years. I was very disappointed in my visit on Saturday, October 28, 2017. I ordered "to go" a half tuna sub, dry (no mayo) with oil and vinegar, lettuce and tomato. The sub was mostly bread, shamefully small amount of tuna, hardly any oil, and I could not detect any vinegar. The lettuce was OK, but then, it is iceberg lettuce. No cheese. I was charged $9.53 for this awful sub to go. I would never go back to any Sack O Sub location. I related this to a friend, and she said that I should have gone to Wawa for a good tuna sub, or for any sub for that matter. Another problem is that there was a big container on the counter by the register where you place an order to go. It had a big sign that read, "TIPS." Why would a customer tip an employee who makes at least minimum wage? Tips are for servers who make less than minimum wage. These employees are paid to do their jobs: take orders and make the orders. Why would they get a tip over and above that? Especially since $9.53 is, in my opinion, too much to pay for a half sub to go, especially since it was such an inferior sub. I would also question how carefully the employees who are making the subs monitor the TIPS container. If you don't tip, do you get an inferior order, and if you do tip, you get a decent order? Wawa would never allow any TIPS container for their employees that they pay salaries to. That may be because they pay their employees well, and because of ethics. I would never go back to Sac O Subs. It use to be good, but, in my opinion, the whole experience was bad. read more
