That is exactly the mindset that the developers and planners envisioned that are a part of Downtown Commons (aka DOCO). And in the fall of 2020, during the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, "DOCO Al Fresco" was born. Ever since this concept was brought to the public eye, it has attracted thousands of people to flock to the lush, upscale, landscaping that surrounds DOCO and nearby Golden 1 Center. These types of events have been occurring on a quarterly basis (usually every 3-4 months) weather permitting. This is where six different restaurants (Echo & Rig, Polanco Cantina, Yard House, Sauced BBQ, Tahoe Blue Ridge Bar, & local eats @ Golden 1) all participate in bringing their food out to you. The way this concept works is by making a reservation in advance. Upon arrival, you then wait to be seated. Once seated, you are given a QR Code Menu that you scan with your smart phone to view all six menus. You then place your order, pay using your smart phone, and your order will be brought directly to your table. It's that easy! During my visit (which was on during the afternoon of Sunday 2/28/2021), I came with a group of people and expected there would be some hiccups. Much to my surprise, my beer (from Tahoe Blue Ridge Bar) was brought out within a few minutes while my juicy cheeseburger & fries (from Yard House) arrived roughly 15 minutes later. Prices are equal (if not just a dollar or two more than inside the actual restaurant). In addition, there was a live salsa/mariachi band playing which made this whole event very lively on a beautiful 67° winter afternoon. I felt completely safe during my entire time here as each table was socially distanced while all of the employees were wearing masks. The only drawback is that your food is brought out in a to-go bag and no trays. My burger more or less came in a styrofoam container with lack of paper plates and napkins. Not a big deal but I hope they implement this in the future. Other than that, I hope DOCO offers this concept more often instead of every few months. I know with Sacramento's nice warm weather, it will get a ton of business. My rating for "DOCO Al Fresco", a perfect five stars.

They basically arranged a huge outdoor section in the heart of the Golden 1 Center - where you scan one QR code for six of the participating restaurants nearby! It's easy and fun! From scanning the code, you order the food and beverages directly on the app, and you can order from multiple restaurants at one time. It's all on one check at the end. Ordering is easy! Wait time for foods, is comparable as if you were actually in the restaurant. The environment is family-friendly or a cute date night spot. On some days they have a DJ spinning the jams, but last night they had a live guitarist playing old school, chill, relaxing songs. It was the perfect weather and setting for a night out to dinner! I would highly recommend this as a change from cooking and eating at home during these quarantine days. I tried the Quesibirria Tacos Poblanco! You guys, seriously?! These tacos were deeeeeelicious! Peep my foodie pic! It even came with the tasty dipping sauce but let's be real I was too busy enjoying my tacos to post it. Whoops! Lol. While it might be a bit pricey for this entreè, they food was good and the experience was worth it. It was nice to just get out of the house! Really think 'bout checking this out! Parking = $20-100 for events. Plenty of street metered parking for $25, only 2 blocks away. If you preorder your parking, you can get it for $22. Decent amounts of food and drink options. Service - Security was smooth. Long lines but quick. Ushers were friendly. The men's room had an attendant, so clean. But mostly everything is self service. Glad someone opened the emergency exits, because thousands of people waiting to go down an escalator would have taken us over an hour! Price - Depending on your seats. My daughter waited until the last second and got discounted seats + parking, dinner, gas, toll, etc. totalled $200 for our father daughter date. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2016. Even after 10 years of success, your arena still looks new.

Went 2x recently, for the Sacramento Kings Draft Party, and day 1 of the Summer League…read more Located downtown Sacramento, there are plenty of options for parking, most are parking garages within short walking distance, or there is some metered parking that may require a little longer and more adventurous walk to stadium. There is a strict bag policy so be sure to read up on it if you are taking in an event so as not to delay your entry. Going through security is easy enough, voth security. And the ticket scanner/door workers are always pleasant and efficient in processing you into the arena. Both the draft party, and summer league were informal, so most tickets were general admission and your were free to sit almost anywhere(barring the first 3 or 4 rows). (The draft party initially only had 5-7 sections open , but as the crowd grew closer to draft, more sections were opened . There were a few basic concessions open, for water, beer, hot dogs, chicken fingers, pizza, and a few of the other stands. Not all concessions that are normally open for concerts or regular season games were open, but was able to get chicken strips that were pretty good in quantity, and quality with fries and a beer. All in all, was a fun time, and a nice arena.

Found myself applauding because that seemed appropriate at the time but could not understand what seemed like trying to play an instrument with your feet on the metal bleacher. Parking seemed convenient enough. $15 for the evening with a back exit to split when the time came. It will cost more at the new place because this is left over space from a pretty much fallen California Exposition Center. They'll have to pave new lots. Yay. Bathrooms were porta-potties. Most of them were anyways. Yet another permanently temporary band-aid. Let's hope they don't take them out to the new stadium. Food venues looked like leftovers from the fair. Not about that. The "premium" spots gated and guarded by folks who want more money to sit down will hopefully get some real upgrades as opposed to the fancy net protecting them at this place. Surrounding stadium area: Located at Heart Health Park in Cal Expo, the Sac Republic facility is a really nice spot. Outside of the field was almost a dozen food (pizza, Greek, Tacos, German, frozen treats, etc.) & drink trucks (beers, Margaritas, Agua Frescas, etc.) options. Stadium area: VIP seating to the South, Home field side to the West, Away side to the East, and the tall bleachers to the North. SRFC also has a really nice field. Overall: Good area, good assorted food & drinks options, good stadium.

Rivercats players were available for meet and greet and autographs once the gates opened, and the fun and excitement began. As a Legacy member, I went up to the Legacy Lounge where breakfast was served, and I enjoyed mingling with friends I've made during the season, for the last time this season. Bob and Tom greeted us at the door, who I will miss immensely, along with the catering crew, Kevin, Gary and Avante, who does an excellent job. I will definitely miss them during the off season, and appreciate how well they took care of of us this season.

I hadn't been to Concert in the Park in years - something about working downtown makes me want to hurry up and get home every night - especially in the heat and surrounded by a large crowd. But just like the thousands of other people last Friday when it was announced that The All-American Rejects were doing a secret show - we braved all of it and had a great time! While there were a decent amount of food tents, I didn't buy any food or drinks because the lines were crazy long, but we did check out the balloon animal lady for my daughter and niece who were with us! We mostly hung in the back away from the crowd and man, was it packed! I heard that they were only allowing 9,000 people into the park and there were still at least 2,000 people stuck outside. There was a lot of security everywhere which was nice in case anything happened, but getting out of the park was kind of a mess. Luckily, we parked close and it was easy to get home - I can't imagine how long it must take to get an Uber with that many people and cars around though. Overall, I think Concert in the Park is amazing! A few concerts every Friday with surprise guests! It's a great way to welcome the Summer and I love that our city offers something like this! We already have our eye on another date, and I can't wait to come back again! Check them out if you're looking for something cool to do on a Friday night - there are still 4 Fridays left before it's over!

The bands drew a mostly older crowd, but there was a mix of younger people too. There were a number of food trucks offering pizzas, burgers, Indian food, and treats. Some local radio stations, internet providers, scooter rental, and put put golf businesses also had booths at the event. They were giving away coupons, contest entries, and schwag to promote their businesses. It was all good. The drinks started at $5.00 for a water, 8.00 for a Michelob Ultra, $12.00 for a premium beer, and ended at $14.00 for a cocktail. Not exactly budget friendly, but I've seen prices that are worse. Big shout out to Bonney Heating and Air for their cooling tent with the misters. That was a game changer!

Props To "The Handle District" For Another Great Public Event!…read more SITREP I've already done my reviews for the "events" such as "Too Hot To Handle", "Capitol Dime's Yelp Elite Event", and yesterday's "Farm-To-Fork" Spectacular Community Event, as well as my underlying FIRST review for The Handle District. In those, I radiate sunshine, sparkle glitter, and feed the unicorns in the positive fashion that they deserve. However, in this update, I'm going to take to task the negative-nancys. LAY OFF THE HUBRIS I get sick of hearing about how "The Handle" just can't compare to "San Raphael", "Bodego Bay", "Petaluma", etc. etc. etc. until the bullshit comes home. Well guess what? We're not living there in San Raphael or Sausalito, or Bodego Bay or Carmel, or ...where the hell the is Petaluma anyways?! Let's be BLUNT: Community development, social revolution, and demographic logistics all fall into play in how some Block Communities and District Hoods get to evolve or NOT to evolve. And "walls" such as curfews, municipal codes, and neighborhood groups play as much a factor in what kind of restaurants and bars and venues, etc., are allowed to get to come into community, and even more importantly how they are allowed to conduct business. BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE A great example of this are those so-called arm-chair critics who blast Ace of Spades for being a limited venue that closes by 11pm. Well you know what? Talk to the Sacramento City Council and the neighborhood associations that FORCE Ace of Spades to close by 11pm because of curfew codes. Honestly, people are barking up the wrong tree most of the time when they criticize businesses, venues, and neighborhood district associations about what they DO and can NOT do. That being said, let's move on... FERRIS BUELLER & "MR. ROONEY" I'd like to take this opportunity to give big props to Shawn Rooney (the "Mr. Rooney" to my rambunctious "Ferris"). From last year to this year, I've seen nothing but hard work from him & his team (oh god - that beautiful lady with the clipboard who was so stellar yesterday - why. can't. I. remember. her. name - she's Diane S's cousin). They are dynamic in pulling the Handle District community of businesses and shops and restaurants and living spaces all together for a wonderful time.
