Lemon Pepper chicken with dressing ( w/ side of cranberry sauce), collard greens, sweet potatoes, and hot water cornbread

I am never disappointed whenever my sister recommends a place! Sister came through! It was a line out the door but the wait was not too long. The place is a bit small but that did not deter me from wanting to try out a restaurant I have not been to. Everything on the line looked good. I chose the lemon pepper chicken and dressing. The food was seasoned pretty good and I feel as though I got my money's worth. The staff was friendly and I will be coming back whenever I am in the area again.

So glad I found this place yesterday! I was in the area with my son and I'll definitely be going back! The food exceeded all my expectations and was amazing ! It was tasty, seasoned just right, and online ordering was a breeze . Everything we got was worth the purchase : fried green tomatoes , chicken gizzards , fried chicken dinner with Mac/cheese, turnip greens, pinto beans , fried okra .. yams and red velvet cake. Definitely recommend and they will see me again ! Recently relocating from Chicago this warmed my heart to get a taste of home!

I'm giving this joint 5stars because of one single reason-how they treated me. I'm just wrapping up a weekend in Huntsville, AL with my wife. My visit thus far has been ok, but sprinkled with some racist looks and definitely some unhappy and disappointed people at my interracial marriage. Us white folks don't exactly have the greatest reputation in this state, so I understand the human desire to hate and want to separate. However, these awesome ladies made a conscious decision to treat me exactly the same and I couldn't be more thankful. Yes the food is awesome, but right now I'm talking about something way deeper than flavors-I'm talking about showing love to others. I will be returning here if I come back to Huntsville. I thank everyone at Sac's-y'all are a beacon of love in a world that chooses hate first and to never forgive. ...after reading this again, I realized there's some significant information I still needed to share about this awesome place. So, first off, if you're new to the are or are just visiting like we were, just know that it's not located in a "commercial" area, so it basically in a neighborhood, but close to the interstate. Yes, food is delicious-you don't get much better than soul food from the local scene-if the locals like it and they're still in business, you can trust it:)

Y'all know I don't typically give 5 star reviews but ever since black restaurant week in huntsville I've been trying to focus on locally black owned businesses. Unfortunately there isn't a page for their bar (Sacs bar and grill) but when I tell you the vibe, food and ambiance is amazing. I haven't had a chance to try the soul food from Sacs Kitchen but I've tried the wings and cheese fries from their bar and they were perfect. If your looking for the perfect place to eat some good bar food, soul food, or just relax head over to Sacs Kitchen (to eat) or to Sacs Bar and Grill to get you a delicious drink and good food.

On the North East side of Rocket City, there lies a hidden soul food gem, Sac's Kitchen located on Mastin Lake Road North West in Huntsville, Alabama. The quaint inconspicuous space caters both to those who want to grab and go or those who have time to savor a good meal. To the left of the cozy room is a buffet lined with a plethora of southern comfort foods. To the right were maybe a half a dozen, plus a few tables covered in plastic red table cloths: the southern way. A paper napkin knife and fork duo complemented the vintage aura to the table. My Order: 3 golden fried delicious chicken wings with a side order of mashed potatoes and gravy, 3 golden fried fresh green tomatoes and two luscious sweet rolls. The owner had a few moments to sit down with me for a quick interview. Erica: "Who is Sac's?" Carlos: "My mother Sarah Douglas, who is my co-owner, it's her nickname. Her nickname is Sac." Me: "What year did Sac's open?" Carlos: "We've been in business for five years now. July 12, 2013." Me: "What was the inspiration behind pursuing this as a career?" Carlos: "My mother could always cook. She loves cooking. We began by selling plates outside of the house." Me: "What are your signature dishes?" Carlos: "Lemon pepper chicken, catfish plates, banana pudding." Me: "Do you have any contributions to the community that you'd like to mention?" Carlos: "Yes. We feed the homeless every year for Thanksgiving. Church sponsorships, and we sponsor Mae Jemison High School ...etc.

I love Soul Food! However, because of the calories I don't eat it often. I came home to AL for work as I don't live in AL anymore, and I was chatting with my uncle on places to try. He mentioned Sac's to me and said it was good, so I decided to try it for dinner. I was pretty pleased with their food. For the most part, I enjoyed their food and it definitely gave me " Sunday dinner at big mamas house" vibes! Lol! Kia was who was helping me and she was nice and accommodating. My only complaint as far as waiting for the food was that the wait was an hour. I tried to call and place an order for pick-up but they didn't answer the phone. I then decided to just drive to their location and place my order. I waited outside in my car for an hour. They did mess up one order, but they caught it in the restaurant and accommodated me and I didn't have to say a word. I did appreciate that! I picked up an order for myself and three other people. Between all of us we ordered Catfish Fillets, Pork Chop, Chicken and Dressing, Mac & Cheese, Fried Okra, Cabbage, Green Beans, Yams, Coleslaw, Hot Water Cornbread, and Red Velvet Cake. All of the food was delicious and seasoned well. However, the Catfish and Fried Okra were salty. They were both fried perfect but someone was a little heavy handed on the salt. My only other complaint was the Mac & Cheese. It wasn't really the style I like. It was a little more of a "runny" consistency than I prefer. I like thick and creamy, not lose and saucy. It was also a little bland in flavor. Other than certain items being salty and the Mac & Cheese, everything else was really good! The Cabbage, Green Beans, Slaw, and Yams were yummy! The Chicken and Dressing was very flavorful. The dressing was perfect and wasn't dry. The Pork Chop was also delicious. All of their fried items were fried to the perfect golden brown. Now their Hot Water Cornbread was amazing! I don't know what it was about it, but I kept going back for more. We had to save the best for last, Red Velvet Cake! It's my fav! Their cake is really good. It's moist, a vibrant red and taste like Red Velvet! It's topped with cream cheese frosting and pecans! The perfect combination! Overall, Sac's was pretty good! I would certainly suggest calling ahead if you can get through or you might have a long wait. Besides a few minor things, I enjoyed Sac's.

Great down home southern-style soul food. Got the baked chicken from the buffet layout just to try it... it was delish!! All the sides were great too! Going back again to try other foods

The star of the meal was the fried green tomatoes. They were thick, juicy, perfectly fried, and honestly didn't need any dipping sauce or condiment at all. They're some of the best I've had. Minnie and I both ordered the whole catfish with mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes. We absolutely demolished our plates. The catfish was delicious, and the mashed potatoes tasted genuinely homemade. The brown gravy was rich and flavorful and paired perfectly with them. My mom ordered the 4-vegetable plate with fried green tomatoes, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and fried okra. She loved everything on her plate. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the restaurant was busy the entire time we were there. There was a steady stream of both dine-in customers and takeout orders, which tells you a lot about the place's reputation. My only complaint is the wait time. Food takes a while to come out, especially if you're ordering fried items, but they do warn you ahead of time. The quality makes it clear they're cooking to order, so if you decide to visit, just be prepared to be patient. If someone asked me where to take an out-of-town guest for authentic Southern cooking, G's Country Kitchen would be at the top of my list. The food is homemade, comforting, and exactly what people imagine when they think of classic Southern cuisine. Overall, the food was fantastic, the service was welcoming, and it's easy to see why G's Country Kitchen is a go-to spot for homestyle country cooking. We'll definitely be back.

This was Southern hospitality at its finest, wrapped in incredible food and genuine warmth from the moment our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team walked through the door. The owner and staff were extremely kind, welcoming, and hospitable to our group, treating us less like customers and more like honored guests. The owner personally sat with our team, walking us through the menu item by item, sharing stories, and offering recommendations on his favorite dishes. That personal touch set the tone for the whole lunch and made the meal feel both special and deeply personal. The food itself was soul-satisfying in every way. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, the kind of dish that makes you pause after the first bite. The catfish was especially delicious as well, tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, embodying everything you hope for in classic country cooking. And the banana pudding was a standout, instantly transporting me to memories of dining in Savannah, with that rich, comforting, homemade taste you feel in your soul. From start to finish, everything about our visit to G's Country Kitchen was outstanding...the hospitality, the conversation, the food, and the feeling of being truly cared for. Many thanks to the owner and the entire staff for a great experience and a lunch that our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team will not soon forget.

I ordered two catfish dinners, macaroni and cheese, yams, okra, sweet potato fries, cornbread, and paid extra for fried green tomatoes. Each catfish dinner comes with (1) catfish filet, (2) sides, and (1) bread. The catfish is delicious. It was "Seasoned to the T" as the establishment advertises. The fried green tomatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft and fleshy on the inside. The cornbread was good humble buttermilk cornbread. Don't expect sweet cornbread. The fried okra was very tasty. Unfortunately, that where my food compliments end. The macaroni and cheese had more of a watery consistency. I'm a fan of thick macaroni and cheese. The yams were also watery nor could I taste any seasoning. The sweet potato fries were lukewarm. Next, the hospitality. I was very warmly received. She was not overly chatty (which I enjoy) but nowhere anywhere near disrespectful. Overall, I enjoyed her salt-of-the-earth approach to conversation. Lastly, the facility. I ordered the 3-piece catfish plate with 4-cheese macaroni and fried corn, which also came with a roll. The macaroni was the star of the show. It was flavorful and well-seasoned, not just cheesy. The fried corn was also very good. The catfish was piping hot and tasted good, but it appeared to have been cooked in older grease, as evident by its color, taste and overall presentation. Considering the price point, I would have appreciated a more appealing presentation. Overall, the food was good. My plate came to about $28, so I expected a little more attention to detail. That said, I'd be willing to visit again, just in moderation (price). The restaurant also has an indoor bar, which I didn't try during this visit.
