We've been to many Persian restaurants, but this is the best food we've ever had. Funny thing is we live year Sadaf Encino and have passed it countless times over the years but have never been there. Friends in Westlake Village invited us here. We started with a sampler appetizer which had hummus,eggplant, yogurt, and dolmas. Was excellent. Friends had Juicy Chicken which was great. Wife had Chicken Barg and I had chick shush Kabob, which was the tenderest chicken I have ever had. Our server Leyla was fabulous. Outstanding service from everyone at the restaurant. Only thing I didn't like was Pomegranate Martini, too sour, but that's a personal preference. Looking forward to going back soon. Reasonable prices for the quality of food and service. This isn't my first time here, and I can say with confidence that the food is incredible! I started off with the Cardamom martini. Perfect blend of sweet with a touch of saffron. I tried the Boneless lamb with barberry rice today. It was tender, juicy, and not gamey at all. In regards to service, it's nearly non-existent. Someone took our order, another brought the food, and the last 'server' was quick to drop the check. No one asked if I wanted a second drink, no one checked in on how my meal was. I would understand if it was busy, but I was the only other party in the restaurant, and there were at least 3 servers. I deducted one star for this reason. Ambiance is great otherwise. And I appreciate that they serve interesting alcoholic drinks. I'm sure I'll be back. But I just hope they improve on their service. read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while now and I'm glad I finally did. When we went, it was extremely busy, but I made reservations so we were good. Highly recommend making reservations. The place is small with some outside seating. They really pack you in here to make the most of the space. The menu is full of wonderful variety of middle Eastern food. They have a cocktail menu that's a wee bit pricy ($18) per drink. Service was okay, it was more than likely due to how busy they were so I could understand. Food was absolutely delicious and authentic. My girl got the chicken and ground beef combo meal and I just got the regular beef combo. We also ordered a small Persian salad to share. You definitely can get two meals out of the combos so it ended up being a pretty good value. One tip is to bring cash to pay. You get charged a couple extra bucks to use your card. Not thrilled about that, let's figure out a better system please. Most people don't carry cash anymore these days. Despite some of these things, I'd be happy to come back for some other menu items. read more

I just picked up my to go order for memorial day. I had asked the host in the front if they put onions in my order and she confirmed with yes. Getting my order home I see there is not one piece of onion in my order as a side even though it is a common practice for Persian restaurants to put this as a condiment next to your food. And I specifically asked for it. I paid $80 for my order and it was incomplete. Don't know what more to say to get everything included in the order it's really frustrating. Deliciousness times 100! We had the lentil soup, fries with feta cheese, salmon and rack of lamb kabobs with rice and salad. To top it off we also ordered Persian tea and raspberry ice tea. Look here, I've been to my share of Mediterranean restaurants in several states, Sadaf is where it's at. I had the salmon which literally melted in your mouth. My hubby had the lamb and was quiet for most of dinner which is a huge compliment. We both really enjoyed our food. The only thing I wouldn't get again would be the fires with feta cheese. It wasn't horrible but I've had better. Compared to other restaurants, it's not worth the price or taste. We arrived during a busy dinner rush and the hostess was very kind to find us a table. We elected to seat outside with the heaters which was the best choice for our date night outing. We were well taken care of though we were outside of the restaurant. I brought my client and her son here for lunch since they love persian food. We ordered khormozabzi and two chicken kabob plates along with dolma and a Shiraz salad. Unfortunately something we ate caused 2 out of 3 of us to have food poisoning. I was throwing up all night and when I told my client, she said her son experienced the same thing. I called and spoke to reza the manger and rather than saying sorry, he immediately said it's the stomach flu. I got highly offended that he was adamant his restaurant did not cause 2 out of 3 of us to get food poisoned. He was very defensive rather than apologetic. He could have refunded me for the food poisoned lunch we had.. instead he invited us back for a re-do. No thank you! Not interested in coming back here ever again. read more

I love kebabs, but I'm hooked on Ghormeh Sabzi-- slow cooked stew of sauted fresh herbs, special seasonings, kidney beans, dried lime, and chunks of beef served with a side of white basmati rice. Along with the white rice, they'll serve you a little Tahdig (Upon Availability) which is crispy rice -- that you feel is going to crack a tooth-- but soften it with the stew and oh my goodness it's delicious. The flavors are unique to a new palate, the layers of textures with beans, seasoning and beef and the crispy rice all meet in your mouth in gastronomic harmony. I ordered a cup of Persian tea which is served with a side of small sugar cubes. The right way to drink the tea is to hold a sugar cube between your teeth and then drink so that the tea passes over the cube sweetening as it hits your palate. If you try this, come back and let me know what you thought. The lavash or flatbread smeared with a lot of butter is my favorite way to eat the stew even more than with the delicious rice. We rounded this meal out with an order of the Zoolbia (Persian funnel cake) and Bamieh (Persian dough balls). You gotta love that there is sweetened fried dough in so many cultures. Efficient and attentive service and a really excellent value for your money. I love this place and am so glad they're in our community. read more

Very cozy ambiance. Feels clean and modern. I am an Asian who loves Middle Eastern Food, everything was tasty. But I went with a group of Persians, and Armenians who related how authentic the food was. They were explaining the spices and preparation of the varias dishes we ordered. The waiters were very attentive and we were never looking for them to get something else. We will certainly come back. I recently had dinner at Sadaf, and honestly, it was such a great experience. The atmosphere was really cozy What really made the night stand out, though, was the service. Benny, our waiter, was absolutely awesome. He was super friendly, knew the menu inside and out, and just really made us feel taken care of. his energy made the whole meal feel even better. Now, the food - the chicken koobideh was out of this world. It was perfectly grilled, super juicy, and had the perfect balance of spices. Not too heavy, just really flavorful. And when you paired it with the rice and grilled veggies? Honestly, it was one of the best koobideh I've had. All in all, Sadaf is definitely worth checking out. So my wife and I went on our date night and were trying to go for pizza down the road which I would say is nothing Neapolitan about it beside the four maybe five choices it had, we were so let down therefore we just walked away and down the street to see if they had something else good. We ended up encountering Sadaf and I have to say Oh YEA we are coming back here for the food. Clean eating and just great presentation. We had Benny as our waiter and we asked him for recommendations on the food they had. Let me say that what Benny said was amazing ! We ordered combinations number three. As well we had desserts plus tea which hit the spot even more. We had the baklava and the ice cream. Wish I could give more than five stars. Food, service and price of things were amazing. The food is decent here but last time I was here for date night, on a Saturday, there were kids just running all over the place. Wasn't a pleasant experience. The manager didn't care at all and was rude to us when we mentioned we thought it wasnt really appropriate to let kids run around and yell throughout the restaurant. The chicken was so juicy, the lamb was so tender, and the salmon was both! I literally have no complaints with the food. They had a live musician that played really nicely. This seems like a family restaurant. Saw a mixture between casual and semi-formal attire. There's a bar and plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor. The bathroom was really clean - it was just an overall experience. The only complaint I have is with the manager Klana/Kiana - she just was very rude and you could tell she didn't want to be there. Luckily, the waitress Sam came and saved the day. She was so sweet and accommodating. The bartender Fernando was very generous as well. This is perhaps my most favorite restaurant in Thousand Oaks and perhaps even LA. The pomegranate walnut stew is to die, for I lick the sauce with my fingers! Let me start by saying the flavors in the food are amazing! Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. I ordered one beef koobideh and the Gheimeh Bademjan stew, and both were absolutely delicious. I have no complaints about the taste or quality of the food at all. That said, I do agree with other reviews regarding portion sizes. For the price, I felt they could have been a bit more generous with the meat in the stew, maybe balancing it out by offering a little less rice. I've been to many Middle Eastern restaurants, including Raffi's in Glendale, which serves fantastic food with very generous portions--so I can't help but compare. I picked up my order for takeout, and the experience was smooth. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and I believe I was greeted by the owner, who also prepared my food. He was very kind and efficient. While I do wish the portions were slightly larger, the overall experience was positive. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely return for takeout. The food is flavorful, the service is great, and the ambiance inside the restaurant is lovely. Would recommend! PS I did order a barbecue tomato and I would recommend cooking that longer. What can I say about this place? From the moment I set foot inside, the smell of roasted juicy meat filled my senses. The interior decor is modern and quite nice but did not match the smell I was getting. Whatever, doesn't matter, ambiance and smell don't have to align. Anyway, their chicken koobideh is flavorful and juicy, as is the chicken barg and juicy chicken. There's only one cuisine that makes the juiciest, most flavorful roasted meat and that's Persian.
