Been here a couple times before, decided to finally leave a review. Parking is super easy with a dedicated lot for the whole mini mall. Staff is friendly and eager to seat any party walking up. The fresh-made bread and butter is always appreciated as well as the fresh herbs as an appetizer. The decor is nice as well as it does not get too loud in the dining area. Went with a party of seven and they were more than happy to accommodate a walk-in party. Would recommend sharing a couple entrées since the portions are on the bigger side. The food came out hot, the kebabs were juicy and fresh. Definitely went home with leftovers. Recommend upgrading the rice to one of the different flavors, the Loobia Polo is tasty. read more

Very disappointing experience, especially for a $77 order. This is now the second time I've had the same problem: they failed to include utensils, and nobody even bothered to remind me or ask if I needed them. I assumed the utensils were inside the bag, so I didn't think twice about it. When you spend $77 at a restaurant, basic things like utensils should not be forgotten. I shouldn't have to get home and discover that I can't properly eat my meal because the restaurant couldn't take care of such a simple detail. Unfortunately, this has happened twice now. The food may be good, but the customer service and attention to detail need serious improvement. For me, this experience was not worth the money. read more

My husband and I have gotten takeout from here for a big events twice. Usually when you do takeout, it's $23 per person which includes beef or chicken, garden salad, two appetizers, bread. It is definitely a good deal when you do takeout however, if you go to the restaurant, it would cost about $40 per person, including a drink. We really enjoy their food, we had spoken to alex multiple times regarding ordering. We usually get the beef koobideh and chicken shish kebab. With rice, must o khiar which is the yogurt dip, mushk badenjan as well as garden salad salad The eggplant dip is usually really good however, when we went to the restaurant, it was mediocre. However, the food the salad were really good. We had gotten lunch menu, which comes with soup or salad and a dish of chicken or beef. We had the lentil soup and it was outstanding. The restaurant looks nice and fancy, they have plenty of parking lots. Overall, the service was wonderful, if I am not mistaken, the server name was Jennifer and she was amazing. The place is always dead and a bit depressing inside compared to a lot of other Persian restaurants and the waiters are a bit rude. Going to do this review a bit different. Unfortunately, a friend of mine passed away, this was one of his favorite's restaurants of Persian food. So after the Funereal service this is where all his family and friend's gathered to Celebrate his life! As I entered into the Restaurant the staff was in a meeting on how about to deal with several different emotions and feeling and most of all, to be able to accommodate approximately over 100 family and friends. To the staff, words itself can't express the gratitude and warn feeling you all provided for us all. Thank you!!!! The Restaurant was closed to the General Public to be able to Accommodate all of us, All the food was set up in a Buffet Style in Chafee Dishes. I'll name of few of the delicious food. Kabab Koobideh is a ground lamb, Chicken and Beef Kabobs and a very tasty salmon and Persian Rice and hummus and salad and plenty of different Condiments. Delicious. I placed a pickup order and encountered a bit of a communication barrier upon arrival. When I got there, I was asked to wait about 10 minutes while other orders were being handled. Eventually, I was asked what I needed, and I mentioned I was there for a pickup. I was then told my order wasn't ready, even though the app showed it was. After another 10 minutes, a different waitress asked what I was waiting for, checked with the chef, and realized my order had been ready the whole time--it had just been misplaced. While the wait was frustrating, I'd like to believe this isn't a common issue. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but they did appear to have a large pickup order to fulfill. Now, onto the food--the rice and chicken were delicious, and the hummus was excellent. Portions were generous, making for a very satisfying meal. The only real downside was the disorganized pickup process, which could use some improvement. This place is IT. The flavor is delicious, the portions are big, and the prices are so so reasonable! The inside is elegant and the all of the staff were extremely kind and attentive!! Kashk O Bademjan: we got this as an appetizer for 4 people. Perfect size. I loved the caramelized onion + yogurt on top. It's like a savory eggplant spread, and it goes super well with pita (which was also delicious and warm). Def recommend trying. Chicken Koobideh: basically the chicken kabaob which came with a huge pile of rice and a roasted tomato and jalapeño (which is very spicy so be careful lol). The meat was super tender and savory! I added cucumber yogurt sauce to it but in the future I would def order the Shirazi Salad to complement it. Albaloo Polo: wow this cherry rice was amazing. I've never had anything like it. It has a sweet sour flavor, kinda like cranberries? So good. Paired so well with the chicken breast and kabob. I wanted to say that I went here yesterday with my family. It was six of us and it was not the greatest experience, but the quality of food was good. Service was OK. I kept having to find someone to take our order. Bring us stuff. Ambience is always nice, but the portions have definitely become a lot smaller a few years ago when I came here, the portions were huge, and the quality of food was a lot better along with the flavor was a lot better. Now the potions are a lot smaller, and the quality has come down a little bit as well still taste pretty good but not as good as it used to be so I'm not sure if they changed management or what happened but definitely portions got smaller and the taste of the food. The vegetables were mostly grilled onions, one small slice of bell pepper, and a pepper that was way too spicy to eat. The lamb was just okay -- not terrible, but definitely not memorable. Love this place! It's one of my favorite local spots, and I'm so glad I don't have to drive all the way to Glendale for great Persian food. It's not fancy, but the food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. I like sitting outside--not exactly a patio, but still my preferred spot over the indoor seating. We always start with the Oliveh appetizer, which is creamy, flavorful, and such a great way to kick off the meal. My husband and I share the Chicken Soltani, and it's always cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and never dry. We pair it with either the Albaloo Polo (Cherry Rice) or the Baghala Polo, and both are so good it's hard to choose between them. The Pomegranate Juice is my go-to drink--fresh, tangy, and the perfect complement to the meal. All in all, Maral is a gem: friendly service, great portions, and great food every single time. Persian food is one of my favorite types of Cuisine. One of the things I most enjoy about their style of cooking is the mixture of unique herbs and spices. For example, Kabab Koobideh is an Iranian type of kofta kabab made from ground lamb, often mixed with salt, ground black pepper and grated onions. Maral has a beef or chicken option. I high recommend trying them both! Ghormeh Sabzi is a regular dish I order, due to the vegetarian option. It's a Persian herb stew loaded with dried limes, fresh herbs, celery, and spinach, slowly cooked in a pot with chunks of tender beef and red kidney beans. Served with a generous portion of rice. I love to substitute the regular rice with the Lentil rice. The Cherry rice is another favorite option to introduce a twist into my regular lunch choices. Service is always pleasant and prompt. You're always greeted with a smile, and hello. The location is clean and low-key posh, just look up at the gorgeous chandelier. We've hosted many clients here for impromptu lunches, or to celebrate a co-workers birthday. Tip: Ask for the Cafe menu if you're not in the mood for a formal meal. As my final meal for my short California trip, we (party of 5) ended with some nice Iranian/Persian food. For me, this was something new as I don't get really have Iranian food options in New Jersey/New York that are close to me. Secondly, if I did, I figure there wouldn't be as many vegetarian options available. I was more so curious as I wanted to understand the similarities between Iranian cuisine and the more common Mediterranean cuisine and even Indian cuisine. My cousin - through one of their close friends who is Iranian - came here in the past and recommended this to me. The other added bonus was the easiness to grab an Uber off to LAX for my redeye. The restaurant itself is pretty cool. You have the formal design of the interior with plants shading the corners and big TVs giving you travel inspirations. Fortunately, there were a ton of vegetarian items. We shared just about all of it, but will highlight the ones that I still remember: 1) Kashk O Bademjan: This is the eggplant with whey, served with the pita breads. Eggplant is one of my favorite vegetables, but this was supremely good. Definitely has a different taste compared to the Mediterranean version of the babaganoush, but I enjoyed it. Had a nice spice to it. It was so good we even ordered it again, but unfortunately didn't have the appetite to finish it all (once you see what we ordered next). 2) Must O Khiar: Oh man, this completed the above very well. Another one we ordered twice. No regrets with that decision. 3) Ghormeh Sabzi: My god, this was really really good. In Indian culture, think of this looking like a Palak curry with rajma. Except instead of spinach, you have these fresh herbs. 4) Dolmeh: Also very very good. I'm probably forgetting a few things we ordered.... but we got here early-ish (around 5:15 or so on a Saturday) and finished in an hour. I'd come back any day if I could. Time and time again -- and we have been there many times over the years -- the food is wonderful. Elderly relatives who complain about EVERY restaurant do not complain about Maral, and even compliment it. How the chicken on the chicken kabob comes out so moist we have no idea, but it is great. Went out to dinner with friends and needed someplace centrally located for all of us. Maral Cuisine was the best choice. I had been here several years ago and ordered take out a few years back, but I have not been here recently. I remember liking it those times, so I was looking forward to a nice dinner. It did not disappoint. I ordered the shish kabob, and my friends ordered chicken dishes. My meat was deliciously seasoned and melt in your mouth tender. It was perfect. The tomatoes, peppers, and onions were a nice addition. My friends ordered chicken koobideh and boneless chicken kabob. They are not that acquainted with Middle Eastern food, but enjoyed their food very much. The service was nice. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Our iced tea was never empty, and at one point, they left a carafe of iced tea for us on the table. They also did not rush us and let us enjoy our meal. The inside of the restaurant is light and bright. It is very clean. There is plenty of parking. I will be adding Maral Cuisine into our rotation of Middle Eastern restaurants to visit. read more

After being seated we waited for a long time until Alex showed up to take our order and we asked him to please clean our table that was dirty and sticky. He never cleaned the table. Said it is likely my hair, but I have curly hair tied back in a pony tail. The hair in the food was grey and straight. Should've driven into valley to eat at something's fishy. The trout was of good quality, though it leaned slightly on the bland and dry side, but that's expected with this style of grilling the fish. My uncle and I have been regulars at Maral Restaurant, often choosing it over other Persian spots nearby. Sadly, our last visit convinced us not to return. Last night after a hike, we came in hungry. My uncle ordered white fish with baghali polo and was served two huge pieces of fried fish but barely any rice. My plate was similar -- a large salad mixed in, a piece of salmon, and just a small portion of rice. When we asked about the missing rice, the head waiter responded loudly, "That is not rice? Come on," in front of other customers. It felt dismissive and disrespectful. Although a younger waiter tried to help with kindness, the overall experience was disappointing. Dined here tonight for the first time in a long while. There was a time when my former company got lunches from Maral at least twice a week for years. Quality was always high and consistent. I'm pleased to find nothing has changed, which is to say it is still great. We got an appetizer tray with baba ganoush, hummus, smoked eggplant and tabouli. Three entrees, a chicken koobada, a beef dish and shrimp dish. Please refer to my pictures. A literal feast for $100 with enough leftovers to be stuffed with Mediterranean goodness again tomorrow.
