We stopped in here for an early Friday night dinner. What a beautiful restaurant. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We weren't expecting to order so much food but we did. Everything was amazing. The tahdig was nice and crispy. I enjoyed the Ghormeh Sabzi and Gheimeh Bademjan toppings. I had the Soltani and loved it. The ground beef kabob was to die for. Dont forget to get the Maust Khiar (yogurt cucumber sauce) to go with everything. I could go on but all the food was great. Service was on point. I love that they work as a team to make your dinner special. We will be back but we will be enjoying our left overs for days! Oh and the tequila saffron cocktail was fantastic! read more

We had really great service :). The Juicy chicken is the best! So tender and juicy My Dad had the rack of lamb and he absolutely loved it! The portions are on the larger side, which made for fantastic left overs. We will definitely be going back. Everything we got looked just like pictures found online. read more

Sadaf Restaurant is my favorite place to eat in Thousand Oaks. The food is always cooked to perfection. There are options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. We have tried most things on the menu and everything was delicious. Oh and don't forget dessert. The cheesecake is amazing! The restaurant is always super clean. And the service has almost always been excellent. A couple of times the service wasn't as good as usual but not bad enough to knock off a star. read more

First of all, I just wanna thank the owner to give us a opportunity of having real Iranian food in a place you rarely can find any Mediterranean cuisine, the food comes from class a ingredients the quality of meat, rice and vegetables super fresh. The service is top of notch by (MR BENNi) for the last two visit. I haven't seen him. Hopefully he's doing great. The ambience comes from modern decoration, which is remind me of the restaurants in north of Tehran which been known for the best of the best in the world service wise and decoration wise. Food was absolutely delicious! One of the best Persian places we've been to. The restaurant was also very clean with a great layout and design. However, we found the service lacking. While the servers were great, there was no bartender, so our waiter was forced to make our drinks (which were pretty good all things considered), and around 8:30pm, the staff began to close the restaurant and force us out. Our reservation was for 8pm, and the place closes at 9pm, we only ordered 2 drinks, some humus and two entrees, what was the rush? We were also the only people there. It wasn't a great feeling given that we drove an hour from Pasadena to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, only to have the whole experience rushed out the door in 45min. read more

Went to Sadaf on a Saturday night the ambiance is nice nestled off of Thousand Oaks blvd with indoor and outdoor seating. A spacious parking lot located in the back. Upon entry the restaurant was packed with large parties which is a good sign and I hoped that this would be our next middle eastern restaurant and save me the drive to Los Angeles/Glendale. All in all the food is okay. The service is horrible waters weren't refilled. Waiters seemed annoyed and when the food took 45 mins to come out. We weren't a large party either. I think they forgot to put our order in. When the food did come out it was close to closing time and service just went even more down hill. Which is odd because the owner was present. One of our beef koobideh plates was undercooked and still pink in center. I could tell they were rushing to get the food out. Didn't say anything as the restaurant was closing and didn't want to wait even more than we already had. Prices are on the higher end $25-40 for a plate. For the prices and service you're better going to LA. Would I give them a shot again, maybe if things improved. Otherwise go a few exits down to another city for kabobs. read more

This place is one of the best Persian restaurants in LA area. The service was timely and friendly. I ordered crispy rice (Tahdig) with stews and Beef Soltani. Both were tasty and similar to what you would get in Tehran. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely get back to this place whenever I visit Thousand Oaks and crave Iranian food. read more

My friend and I love Sadaf Restaurant. I am a lover of Iranian and Persian food. I have had the pleasure of eating at the finest restaurants in Los Angeles County. Now I am so lucky to that Sadaf is in Thousand Oaks. The food at Sadaf is amazingly delicious. The flavors of every bite delighted our taste buds. I have been a Patron at Sadaf for a few years. Our special treat for Iranian food. Thousand Oaks Sadaf restaurant is tops in service, particularly with Leila and Luis. They are welcoming, personable and excellent in their service skills. Food is well presented, very tasty and affordable. The ambience is comfortable, lighting warm not harsh as in many restaurants. We were drawn back to the TO Safad finding it superior in all respects to the Encino Sadaf. Looking forward to returning soon and enjoying their excellent cuisine. If I could could get a place to shut down for purely horrible service this is it. The service is awful and seemingly there is absolutely racism happening which is crazy. Waited forever to be seated while watching other ethnic people being sat quick and served and taken care of. They ignored us didn't bring our drinks we should have left but we were already so hungry. We ordered two martinis the same thing only brought one took 20 minutes to bring the other ignored us treated horribly never experienced anything like this before. Discriminating at its finest. Disgusting service! read more

If I can give this place zero star I will give them zero star. Bad service. They sit us on the table but never come back to give us menu or even asking what kind drinks we want to have. They ignore us as customers. I think they didn't need our business!! Better support others place the one more appreciate customers. But not this place!! read more

Came here for a late lunch with a coworker. No wait. Service was quick. Food came out fresh and hot. Never had Persian food before so this was a nice surprise, non greasy healthy dishes with lots of herb lemon zest flavors. We ordered the chicken and beef kabob and the portion size was very filling. Went as a large group for my son's graduation celebration. They made are day!! From the amazing and delicious food to the super friendly and help full staff amd owners. Went back recently for the third time due to pressure from our friends who love Sadaf over Maral. Sigh. To cut to the chase, the gf and I definitely do not (far below the food quality and prices), but it was better than my first experience so it warrants an update and a rating increase. What I got: ========== 1. HUMMUS [$free, 4.5 stars] -- Free with a Yelp check-in (yes!) the first time here, and free again from our waiter since it was busy and he knew it would be a long while until we got our food. Very good, great consistency, and very fresh. 2. CHICKEN BARG [$26.99, 4.0 stars] -- $7 more than a few years ago, it's a HUGE flat boneless chicken breast, charbroiled, probably 2 pieces (as I said, HUGE). Good, but way too pricey for chicken. I wanted it because it came with the Sadaf salad, which I loved loved loved from the Encino location. Alas, the salad was again awful: wet and wilted iceberg lettuce ruined it for me, just as it was the last time I reviewed. Come on, get this right! Feta, olives, walnuts -- could be so good. Conclusion: ========= Overpriced compared to our favorite local Persian place, Maral in Agoura Hills. and just not as good food. The vibe and ambiance are better, but not the food, service, or prices. read more

Great place off of TO Blvd . Their menu is reasonably priced for the generous portion sizes you get. I've dined in and done takeout on various occasions and the quality of the food is always consistent. I do enjoy their meat especially their beef and lamb on their menu. One of my favorite rice dishes is their Albaloo Polo which I usually get. You get a really good deal if you opt for their combination plates and is enough to be shared with at least 2 problems They also have a full bar with cocktails with plenty of dining inside, it's a comfortable non fussy option to get great food and service. read more

First time at this restaurant, we were in the area and since I have numerous issues with allergies, the menu looked safe for me to eat without having a reaction. The food was superb, beautiful presented! The restaurant is very nice, specious, classy decorated and beautiful background music. Ah, but the service is outstanding! Attentive, polite and well groomed. We haven't had this kind of attentive staff for a long time. Definitely, a place to return. Whenever I think of having Persian food, I go straight to Sadaf. Whether eating in (thank you Benny for your wonderful service - including helping me pronounce my favorite dish!) or ordering to go, I'm always thrilled with my experience. Our food tonight was fantastic- their Gheimeh Bademjan is the best I've had. Rice is always light and fluffy, and the Shirazi salad was fresh and crunchy. Already thinking of my next meal. read more

First time here at Sadaf Persian Restaurant coming in by myself. I was immediately greeted by Mohadesse who was so awesome and friendly. I ordered the 3 stew combination, side of Kobedi and eggplant for the appetizer. All so delicious. I had barely anything leftover. The baklava and Persian tea to go hit the spot and perfect for my hour ride home. I will definitely be coming back and recommending others here. read more

Perhaps middle eastern food is not for me but this was a nice restaurant to visit for my sister's birthday. I got a combo plate and the date rice was out of this world! I cannot recommend the rice enough. I would come back just to get the rice! Parking was easy to find in the back. There is also street parking if you are lucky. When I walked in there was live music which was a bit loud with the crowded room but it's okay. We got the eggplant appetizer and that went fast. Then our food came and I was somewhat full already from the appetizer. The chicken was tasty but the beef smelled off to me. My husband even agreed that it smelled like fart. I know that sounds crude but it actually did. Either way I don't think I will return here without being invited by a family member. Thank you for helping me realize I am not the biggest fan of this kind of food. read more

First time at Sadaf. Loved it. Nice quiet setting. The food was excellent. Our waiter, Iman, was great and very helpful seeing it was our first visit. Loved the chicken and beef kabobs. We are a big fan of Sadaf Encino . We were around the area and we were craving Persian food. As usual, Yelp didn't disappoint when I searched , immediately was sold on this restaurant and was hoping it was as good as the Encino one. We walked in on Sunday around 2:30 and were seated immediately. 4 of us shared 3 meals. One koobideh, one barg, and one white fish with baghali polo. We all loved everything. Their Koobideh is so juicy :) I was going to give them 4 star, because the server who took our order, completely ghosted us after he took the order. We asked him 3 times to bring more bread as my father eats bread with his meal. My dad even got up and went to tell him while he was flirting with some Persian girls on the table , and he ignored him again . Finally, my dad had to go to the front and ask others for more bread. That server never came by our table again , not even when we were leaving and for the check. He just disappeared completely. I would like to thank Fernando, who stepped up, asked us how everything was, and when we told him about it, he apologized, and willingly took off one of the items, as an apology. We will be back here because of Fernando's genuine concern and his willingness to help and make us feel welcome. Sadaf should have great service to go with its amazing food. Such a pity that there are careless servers like the first guy . I didn't get his name but when I go back, I wouldn't want him to be our server. Plenty of free parking on the back. read more

We invite you to experience modern Persian cuisine at its finest here at Sadaf Restaurant where you will be served healthy, yet tasty, wholesome fresh food. All of our food is made with 100% olive and vegetable oils. No preservatives or additives are ever used. We use the leanest cuts of meats and the freshest vegetables.

History

Established in 2019.

In the Persian language Sadaf means Sea Shell. In the early 80's one of the proprietors was gifted by having twins, one was named Darya (Sea) and the other was named Sadaf (Sea Shell). Both of the restaurants first opened were named Darya. One was Darya "in the City of Orange" and the other Darya "Santa Monica". "You are probably saying what about the other twin. "This is not fair to Sadaf!" Well.......After years of schooling, receiving her MBA, and mastering the kitchen, Sadaf decided that it is now her turn. Sadaf Restaurant is the "twin sister" of the famous Darya Restaurants. However, this twin has a slight modern twist. The Thousand Oaks location is the second Sadaf Restaurant to be opened by Sadaf herself. Her first famous location is currently in Encino, CA where it has been operating successfully since 2011.

We had a refreshing quinoa salad (with tomatoes and cucumbers), crispy and filling samosas, and some amazing kebabs. The meat was flavorful and really tender, even the chicken breast kebab. Definitely worth the wait. Things were busy even for the late lunch, but our server was super nice and also expressed appreciation for us waiting for our table. Wrapped up right on time and we went to the science fair awards ceremony. No top 4 finish but we were proud of his effort, and a few days later he got an honorable mention!

I remarked to DH that I miss all the plants that the previous business owner had kept out on the patio for atmosphere. The current iteration is clean, but on the boring side. We love their food, so I'm overlooking the lack of ambiance for now. That being said, DH and I have been discussing recently how much we miss the kinds of places that used to have great style in their decor. Theme restaurants are more rare these days than they ought to be. They got a variety of ice creams, some common ones but also some new ones. Kids devoured all their ice cream, which is rare for them to do. They also serve food here, which we did not get to try but is good to know is an option. They have tables everywhere and a fountain machine and some unique teas I got to try, like their lavender tea! This was beautiful and so amazing. I can't wait to come back and grab another ice cream espresso from here and maybe try one of their sandwiches. Yum!
