We stopped in here for an early Friday night dinner. What a beautiful restaurant. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We weren't expecting to order so much food but we did. Everything was amazing. The tahdig was nice and crispy. I enjoyed the Ghormeh Sabzi and Gheimeh Bademjan toppings. I had the Soltani and loved it. The ground beef kabob was to die for. Dont forget to get the Maust Khiar (yogurt cucumber sauce) to go with everything. I could go on but all the food was great. Service was on point. I love that they work as a team to make your dinner special. We will be back but we will be enjoying our left overs for days! Oh and the tequila saffron cocktail was fantastic! read more

Let me start by saying the flavors in the food are amazing! Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. I ordered one beef koobideh and the Gheimeh Bademjan stew, and both were absolutely delicious. I have no complaints about the taste or quality of the food at all. That said, I do agree with other reviews regarding portion sizes. For the price, I felt they could have been a bit more generous with the meat in the stew, maybe balancing it out by offering a little less rice. I've been to many Middle Eastern restaurants, including Raffi's in Glendale, which serves fantastic food with very generous portions--so I can't help but compare. I picked up my order for takeout, and the experience was smooth. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and I believe I was greeted by the owner, who also prepared my food. He was very kind and efficient. While I do wish the portions were slightly larger, the overall experience was positive. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely return for takeout. The food is flavorful, the service is great, and the ambiance inside the restaurant is lovely. Would recommend! PS I did order a barbecue tomato and I would recommend cooking that longer. This restaurant is advertised as halal. For those seeking a restaurant that offers a truly authentic halal menu, this is not the place to go. They only offer two dishes that are halal, neither of which are beef, namely chicken and lamb options. The prices for these dishes were pretty extravagant, as well. The first thing seen upon walking in was a bar with lots of alcohol, and the music lacked in creating a lovely ambiance. The server was very attentive and thoughtful, making good vegetarian suggestions to expand options for a halal dinner; however, we were not comfortable. Sadaf Restaurant is my favorite place to eat in Thousand Oaks. The food is always cooked to perfection. There are options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. Came here for a late lunch with a coworker. No wait. Service was quick. Food came out fresh and hot. Never had Persian food before so this was a nice surprise, non greasy healthy dishes with lots of herb lemon zest flavors. We ordered the chicken and beef kabob and the portion size was very filling. Food was absolutely delicious! One of the best Persian places we've been to. The restaurant was also very clean with a great layout and design. However, we found the service lacking. While the servers were great, there was no bartender, so our waiter was forced to make our drinks (which were pretty good all things considered), and around 8:30pm, the staff began to close the restaurant and force us out. Our reservation was for 8pm, and the place closes at 9pm, we only ordered 2 drinks, some humus and two entrees, what was the rush? We were also the only people there. It wasn't a great feeling given that we drove an hour from Pasadena to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, only to have the whole experience rushed out the door in 45min. read more

HUMMUS [$free, 4.5 stars] -- Free with a Yelp check-in (yes!) the first time here, and free again from our waiter since it was busy and he knew it would be a long while until we got our food. Very good, great consistency, and very fresh. 2. CHICKEN BARG [$26.99, 4.0 stars] -- $7 more than a few years ago, it's a HUGE flat boneless chicken breast, charbroiled, probably 2 pieces (as I said, HUGE). Good, but way too pricey for chicken. I wanted it because it came with the Sadaf salad, which I loved loved loved from the Encino location. Alas, the salad was again awful: wet and wilted iceberg lettuce ruined it for me, just as it was the last time I reviewed. Come on, get this right! Feta, olives, walnuts -- could be so good. Conclusion: ========= Overpriced compared to our favorite local Persian place, Maral in Agoura Hills. and just not as good food. Went to Sadaf on a Saturday night the ambiance is nice nestled off of Thousand Oaks blvd with indoor and outdoor seating. A spacious parking lot located in the back. Upon entry the restaurant was packed with large parties which is a good sign and I hoped that this would be our next middle eastern restaurant and save me the drive to Los Angeles/Glendale. All in all the food is okay. The service is horrible waters weren't refilled. Waiters seemed annoyed and when the food took 45 mins to come out. We weren't a large party either. I think they forgot to put our order in. When the food did come out it was close to closing time and service just went even more down hill. Which is odd because the owner was present. One of our beef koobideh plates was undercooked and still pink in center. I could tell they were rushing to get the food out. Didn't say anything as the restaurant was closing and didn't want to wait even more than we already had. Prices are on the higher end $25-40 for a plate. For the prices and service you're better going to LA. Would I give them a shot again, maybe if things improved. Otherwise go a few exits down to another city for kabobs. read more

Our special treat for Iranian food. Thousand Oaks Sadaf restaurant is tops in service, particularly with Leila and Luis. They are welcoming, personable and excellent in their service skills. Great place off of TO Blvd . Their menu is reasonably priced for the generous portion sizes you get. I've dined in and done takeout on various occasions and the quality of the food is always consistent. I do enjoy their meat especially their beef and lamb on their menu. One of my favorite rice dishes is their Albaloo Polo which I usually get. Perhaps middle eastern food is not for me but this was a nice restaurant to visit for my sister's birthday. I got a combo plate and the date rice was out of this world! I cannot recommend the rice enough. I would come back just to get the rice! Parking was easy to find in the back. There is also street parking if you are lucky. When I walked in there was live music which was a bit loud with the crowded room but it's okay. We got the eggplant appetizer and that went fast. Then our food came and I was somewhat full already from the appetizer. The chicken was tasty but the beef smelled off to me. My husband even agreed that it smelled like fart. I know that sounds crude but it actually did. Either way I don't think I will return here without being invited by a family member.
