I was selling my old home and moving to a new one, it took over 5 months with weekly phone call by me to have someone call me to review my options, and when they did call back, the manager try to sell me a system at my new house that is DOUBLE ($1600 system) the cost of the aver system at ADT. Also, they would only let me out of the old contract if I sign a 5 year new contract. Who will ever do that with this terrible customer service company. I finally decided to cancel the contract and just pay the cancelation fees, that took another month before anyone will call me back. They only call because I cancel the credit card that was auto-paying for their monthly service, that got their attention. After confirming that I am canceling the service, they keep calling weekly to ask if I want to pay the balance NOw, even through they give you to the end of the month...... they only call to get their money. NEVER give them your business, use ADT. At safe home, I dealed with Jennifer (terriable) and Matt (called and email me weekly to ask to pay), even though i had to end of the month. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT, FOR ANY REASON, use this company. Do not use their services. I am detailing my overall experiences with SHS: The previous owner of the house went with SHS so, not knowing better, we decided to go with SHS. I received their standard, 60 month contract -- and there are several terms: - you must WRITE in (or email or mail in) that you wish to opt, in excess of 60 days of the termination [which we did] - if you pass the 60 day mark, you will be rolled over for the next year - if at any point in time, even for services NOT rendered, you must buyout or pay 90% of the current monitoring costs We sent in a fax but they conveniently did not receive it, at the 56 month mark (February). They called me in March to question why I was leaving the security system and I told them (so obviously they knew I was leaving). Our credit card on file was fraudulently used by a different vendor so we had to change the credit card on file with SHS, and I called in, but they didn't want change the credit card on file -- then billed me for a bounce and an extra processing fee. I reminded them verbally that I was intending to leave service once my contract was up, but apparently "verbal intentions" are not valid. I called them to deal with this again and to remind them I was leaving, and was told I had to fax or email it in (May, which I did). I spoke with them again today, and apparently they only received my email so I had been rolled over for a year. According to their manager and not even calculating the 90% of current monitoring costs, we have to pay for even the partial month not pro-rated. They are constantly double billing us, they say they will resolve the problem then we never hear from them again. then we receive another bill. Our payments are automatic. On the date that we expected them they didn't call and didn't show. We called them and they gave us another 3 week appointment. That would make it 6 weeks without security. Wow, what awesome service we received from our repair technician , Christian. Our back door sensor had died a slow and painful death and was making me crazier than normal. He not only replaced it, he checked and tested all systems. He noticed that our glass break sensor wasn't in the right place. We only have 2 unbarred windows and it wasn't facing them. He moved it to the correct wall and voila, safe as can be. I expected him to be competent as I would assume Safe Home would only employ the best. He gave competent a whole new meaning. In April of 2020 they reported delinquent to a credit agency, It took a month and many hours on the phone but was finally fixed. I cancelled my service and paid out the rest of my 3 year contract. I just received a new bill. Called and they told me I would be paying for another year, All I want is to not deal with them any more. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Avoid this company at all costs! While their basic service may work just fine, if you try to end your contract, they are really terrible. Had to wait an extra year and follow their "written notice" proceedure. During this last year of service, the unit started to malfunction and send out loud noises for no logical reason. They said sure, they would send out a technician and get it working right. Had to come twice. And without any warning, we got a huge bill for those service calls. Beware!!! Not a Good Experience with Safe Home Security. The early part of 2018 I called to have our system checked out and reinstall the keypad due to a kitchen remodel that was done at the home. Each time I was told you do not have insurance so it is going to cost for a tech to come out which was not what I was expecting to hear so never set up an appointment. March 2018 I got a call from a representative with Safe Home Security to call about renewing our monitoring contract with them, after several weeks I called in I think it was in April 2018 to attempt again to have our system checked out and reinstall the keypad due to a kitchen remodel. Again I was told you do not have insurance so it is going to cost for a tech to come out or I could renew the contract and add the insurance to the system. Since I had to have the system working so my mother's medical pendant and home was being monitored I decided I would just pay to have a tech come out. During the call I also let them know I was going to cancel the monitoring service come Oct 2018 and asked to get an updated monitoring certificate for my insurance company showing home was being monitored. The representative I spoke with was very rude, so I asked them to transfer me to a supervisor several times. The representative told me no one else can help me and refused to let me speak with a supervisor. Thinking they hung up on me, unknown to them they did not disconnect the call and I could hear everything they was saying about me they finally hung up when I let them know I was still on the line. I called back in and was put in touch with Eric, Vice President of Sales which told me over the phone and via emailed "If there is ever anything I can do for you - please feel free to call me directly. The associate that you spoke with is being severely disciplined. I do not allow disrespect to the customer here. Thank you for bringing it to my attention." Eric asked me to give Safe Home Security a 2nd chance and if we still were not happy he would take care of us. I thought Eric was true to his word and decided to give Safe Home Security a chance to make things better. Eric had us add insurance to the system and he would send out to have someone install the most recent keypad that would work with Alexa, change out all the contacts so we do not have any problems with the old contacts not working with the new keypad and update the medical pendant. Eric said I would have to sign a new contract with them and it would have to be a 5 year agreement so he could set up to have the tech come out and change out the system. Eric also said he would give us 3 free months and charge us the older monitoring price since we had the problems we had with Safe Home Security. I was hesitant to sign a new contract due to the past experience with Safe Home Security but Eric assured me if we were not happy to just call him directly and he would cancel the contract or take care of anything. Eric also said he would mail the Insurance Certificate to us as well since they are not allowed to email it out to me. After signing the contract, Eric had set up an appointment for a tech to come out to the home to update the system but no one showed up, I had to call back in to speak with Eric and he told me they are having a hard time with techs in my area but promised to get someone out to update the system and install all new contacts, and replace the medical pendant and I told him we still had not received the Insurance Certificate. Eric was finally able to get a tech out to the home and they installed a new panel, replaced the medical pendant but did not replace the contacts instead added another device to home that would make the old contacts work with the new system. After having the system back active a few days later the system started to beep and say bedroom contact has a problem. Since the first of May I have been calling and leaving messages as well as emailing Eric to call or email me back so we could get the system working and again asking for the Insurance Certificate since it still has not arrived in the mail. I am sad to say but I still have not got a call or email back from Eric. June 12, 2018 I called in to cancel the service since I was not getting a call or email back after at least 5-10 attempts. The representative I spoke with said he did not know Eric (which I thought was strange since I had just called a few minutes prior and got Eric's voice mail again) and he was sorry but he would make sure to take care of the issues. I told him I was not interested and was just tired of dealing with Safe Home Security. The representative said he could not cancel my contract since we just renewed it and said he would have someone contact me today 6/13/18 to get the system checked out. Rather than arguing with the representative, I said ok, again I need a system working in the home I have a 78-year-old living in the home that needs to have a medical pendant and home monitoring. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Avoid at all all costs. I have had an account with them for many years. They bought out the accounts of the company I set up my security with in 2007. When I sold my house they said that I had just missed the cutoff to cancel before my yearly renewal, so I would have to pay for another year. Another time, I noticed a $160 charge on my bank statement separate from my regular monitoring charge. I called them and they said it was for "equipment". But I own my system and had not had any additional equipment installed. They then said it was an error; but it would take them 30 days to process it return the money. BUYER BEWARE - This company also sells services under the guise of others. I think mine was called A1 Home Security when I signed up. Also, they're terrible. Full account below: I didn't remember that I even had a yelp login, but I would have made one just so that I could give this company a low rating. First of all, the product is inferior and more expensive than most popular security systems, so there's that. That should really be enough, but it gets worse. When I bought my house this was already installed so I figured I'd just keep it rolling, but found out they wanted me to sign a FIVE YEAR contract. I negotiated it down to three. Then, two years into it, I was received an unsolicited phone call to tell me my fees would increase the next month (before the contract ended). I protested - pointing out that this would constitute a breach of contract. The salesperson then "informed" me that all companies were going to raise their rates soon, and that it was in my own interest to "lock in" a "lower" rate. I use scare quotes here to emphasize the irony of these words: the "information" was factually inaccurate (née, a lie), no price can be considered "locked in" with a company that threatens to violate their agreements, and the rate offered was neither "lower" than what I had been paying, nor lower than other competitive services on the market. This was a pretty solid signal to me that I should not trust Safe Home Security to act in good faith. There is no logic in trusting your home's security to an inferior product for a higher fee paid to a company you can't trust. But wait, there's more! I cancelled before the end of my contract and signed up with another company - which has been delightful - and paid the buyout fee (note - I was leaving SHS no matter what, but my new service is so much cheaper, the buyout-and-switch still worked out to a net positive financial decision). Following their instructions, I sent a letter to the company (for some reason they couldn't cancel over the phone or online, you know, like in the 90's). The response I received said I needed to include my name, account number, and a bunch of other stuff that had all already been in the first letter. So I resent it and received neither confirmation nor reply. Then, a few weeks later I was charged again. So I called and was told they'd received my letter and that I'd be refunded. That never happened, so I disputed the charge with my credit card company. The. Worst. read more

Beware of this company for their unethical business practices. I got stuck with a 36mos. contract, ending this May 2015, which they tell me I automatically renewed for another year. My story started when two of their sales person knocked on my door claiming they were running a special promotion in my area for a limited time. That promotion included free equipment to those who participates in their marketing campaign, which was to place their company logo in front of the house. After researching this supposedly exclusive promotion, I found most companies offer the equipment and signage (logo) for free. As a new home owner and their aggressive sales tactic, I fell for it. I called to cancel my service after seeing the 36th payment posted on my credit card. However, I was told a written notice must be received 60 days prior to the expiration date or else it automatically renew for 12 months. How must I give 60 days notice, yet they don't give reminders. I called in November, December, and January to be proactive, but nothing happened at those times because of their delay strategy. Its too soon they said. I'll give you a better deal they said. Give it another month they said. Just call me directly to cancel they said. Then, time passed 60 days and no written letter they said. Luckily, I did write an email in January, but I got the email address wrong. Hopefully, it's good enough. The person I spoke to at the cancellation number had no sympathy. I am locked into my contract until July when I was told that after I fulfilled I could cancel at any time. Oh hell no. And then, I was toying with the wireless phone capability. Was initially told $5/extra month. When I did call in to do it, I was then told $15 or $20 extra month depending on whether I paid the $199 fee upfront. When I inquired about the $5 I was told oh, she's new and didn't know what she was doing. The customer service reps are rude and I have chosen not to do the wireless as it would reset my contract for 3 years. But EVERY DAY I get an email to sign the contract. They refuse to cancel the contract and have turned us into collections. This company is worse than horrible! You can never get a straight answer, they LIE, and "forget" to tell you information. We recently had a house fire and lost alot of items along with some cats. After 10 days of jumping through hoops to get what they wanted to terminate(or so we were told due to the circumstances) our contract due to the equipment being runied we were told this cant be done. We only have 4 months left of the contact! We were then told we can put the account in a plan of $8.00 a month if we sign an extention of 4 months. But we could completely cancel for the bargain price of $1700.00.... for equipment that cant be used. The company is not willing to help or work with customers. I will not sign an extension to add time on to my contract with a non functioning system AND would have to purchase all new equipment to get the system functioning again. This company is aweful. We were locked into a 5 year contract, without knowing from the sales rep. We sold our house and no longer need the service. There was 3 years left on the contract, and they wanted $1,315.72 to cancel the service - they also wanted a bill of sale or else it would be $1,597.66. This is an absurd amount of money to cancel a contract considering we sold the house. We were expecting to pay a few hundred for a cancelation, but did not expect this. I've had this company for over 13 years and about a year ago I noticed that every month they were charging my credit card that they had on file a different amount nothing crazy but $5.00-$6.00 different than I was suppose to pay. I called 1sr time to complain they told me they would look into it and never called me back. I called again the next month they told me I was paying for wireless service that I never wanted or used. So again the next month I got the same charge so I tried to cancel my Service with this company all together and when i called the women basically laughed at me because I had a 2 yr contract I signed a while ago and it didn't end until 2021. I explained I didn't know that since I've had this company for over 13 yrs and I didn't resign a contract. She then placed me on hold and sent me the signed contract. So let me Say I remember signing this but I thought it was for a new remote for keyless entry. I never thought they would dupe me with adding in a 2 yr agreement. AVOID Safe Home Security! I really wished I read these reviews before hetting suckered onto a 66 month contract with these crooks. I was happy with the last company, but was able to save a few bucks a month and a free ring, this was a mistake. The service has always been shotty, but my panel recently blew snd it took several calls over a span of several days to get a hold of a human voice, the person on the other end of the line was very rude and unproffesional and did not help me at all. My biggest concern was when the panel blew I never recieved a phone call to check on my home. There us obviously a gap in service and I will be expected to pay. I decided to cut my losses and go with another company. I really hope this company gets sued and goes out of business. read more

My husband should have read the contract before he signed, because on the contract it show a tiny letter of number how long the contract last which wrote 60 months of contract with them. Their price is high and they updated the system without letting u know. When they updated the system u have only two options is pay the system out of ur pocket or renew ur contract for another 5 yrs with $1 more on top of ur current payment. If I could give no stars I would. Equipment is horrible. Never got garage doors sensors working from day one. Had multiple techs out. Had to install it myself. After 2 years I was going to cancel my contract. Found out somehow it's a 7 year Contract. Funny thing is it's not even my signature on the contract. Only way to get any form of contact was by putting a bad review on Facebook. Then I got a call. But they didn't want to cancel my contract, just wanted to extend it and use the excuse we will fix the garage door sensors. Long story short had to wait 1 more year to cancel contract. Now it's up they won't respond to my calls or emails to cancel but keep taking money from my account. Bottom line don't do it. Don't sign up. This little review doesn't show all the headaches they have caused me. I will know be forced to take legal action and waste more money on these idiots. And get this they need a manger just to handle resolutions. He's a joke too. read more
