We recently had the pleasure of working with Brandon for a pre-ownership home inspection. As a first time home buyer, we were overwhelmed with everything we needed to know but Brandon made the process seamless. Brandon took his time to explain all about the process and I was able to schedule an inspection right away. We had issues with our builder and couldn't open our doors for 30 minutes past our appointment time but Brandon was very understanding and accommodating. After the inspection, Brandon showed us a website that had a report of all the items that needed to be addressed. The gallery was organized and easy to navigate. He wrote detailed comments on all items that had issues and even took an aerial picture with his drone. The pictures were clear and listed into sections, and the relevant items were boxed or had arrows so that we didn't have any problems locating them. Brandon also went back to our house for a second time to check on our fences and driveway. Brandon is everything you would want in a home inspector: Friendly, thorough, and professional. Had an issue with moisture after all the rains. Weird smell in one room of the house and other symptoms. Brandon was able to schedule an appt right away and did a super thorough job checking for moisture in the floor and walls with the IR cam and sensor and also took samples for a mold test. Hired these guys through my general contractor who said they are the best he has ever worked with. The owner Brandon was super knowledgeable which makes sense as his impressive resume includes long stints as both a roof contractor and as an inspector for the City of San Diego. We had signs of water intrusion after recent heavy rains. Brandon did a thorough inspection for moisture and was only able to identify one area. He went up on to the roof, found the problem, showed it to my contractor and suggested the exact repair which my contractor agreed with. Brandon also used a mold sensor air sample collection device in all the areas we were concerned with. Those were sent to the lab and we received a comprehensive yet easy to read lab report broken down by room/area. Brandon was easy to schedule with and showed up on time. Throughout the site visit and follow-up Brandon was extremely professional. He communicated in layman's terms what was going on and what we needed to know. Also, seems to be just a friendly and good guy, a pleasure to do business with. Mr. Spurgeon was very professional and proficient with his inspections. I had purchased a duplex and specifically requested him because of his reviews. This gentleman went inside the attics, looking specifically for leaks and any type of ceiling structure issues. He went underneath the units, looking for any issues in the flooring and the foundation. I had a very good experience with this gentleman; if I'm to purchase another property, I definitely would use his expertise again. Mr Spurgeons reporting portfolio with all the images and information was very formal, what was extreamly helpful is that he would word inform me of the issues that were wrong with the property but also identify the complexity of the repairs if it was a deal-breaker or not. Brandon Spurgeon of Safeguard Property Inspections inspected our roof in Rancho Mirage using drone photography and he explained that walking on a tile roof unnecessarily is a bad idea because it can cause unnecessary damage. Brandon carried out a thorough manual inspection of our attic too. He found that the stain in one area of our celling was not caused by a roof leak, but by an improper past furnace install and upgrade. Brandon provided a detailed PDF report delivered by email including areal phots of our roof tiles showing broken tiles which will be very useful when I bid out the roofing repair this spring. All in all, the inspection by Brandon was impressive and through. I would be happy to recommend Brandon Spurgeon to anyone who wants an experienced and ethical person to inspect their home.
