Safelite did a fantastic job repairing 2 small cracks in my windshield. They came right out when they said they would and had it done in less than a half-hour. One crack is no longer visible at all; the other, which was significantly larger, just has a bit of a gleam remaining. I loved the convenience of having them come to me. I went to this location in the back streets of Alexandria to get an estimate to repair a cracked windshield. They do have parking in front of their facility and I did not have to wait to get somebody to come out and examine the crack. They said the crack could not be repaired and I had to get the entire windshield replaced. I set up an appointment for a couple of days later and left, all said and done in 15 minutes. read more

It was covered under my insurance but they tried to charge me 350 out of pocket for the repair of the repair. But claimed it was under warranty. BEWARE they are a scam. I recently had my windshield replaced at Safelite. The actual repair work was solid no complaints there. The glass looks great and everything was installed properly. However, the overall experience left a bit to be desired. The prices were very high compared to other quotes I received and the wait time was longer than expected. I was stuck there for a few hours, and unfortunately, the waiting area wasn't the most comfortable not ideal if you're planning to hang out while your car is being worked on. My wife and I chose to walk over to the nearby Panera. All in all, good quality work, but the cost and convenience could definitely be improved. read more

Came to Safelite after a small rock hit my windshield, leaving a crack smaller than the top of a fingernail. When I arrived, they told me the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour, but the job was done in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed -- there's still black and white residue left on my windshield, and the repair is clearly visible. I honestly regret coming here. I could've bought a $20 repair kit online and done a better job myself. Instead, I spent nearly $300 and was told by the front desk that if I didn't want to "see anything," I'd need a full windshield replacement -- which isn't true. The crack was tiny, smaller than the tip of a push pin. When I questioned it, the employee just pointed to the fine print of their policy saying they only do patch work to prevent cracks from spreading. Would've been nice to know before paying that much. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. If you have a small crack, save your money and get a DIY kit from Amazon -- the results are way better, and you'll barely notice anything on your glass. read more

Was able to schedule a Saturday morning appointment, which worked best for me. Dropped it off at 7am and was getting a call before 9am that it was done! They even transferred the inspection sticker, which I was worried couldn't be done. Camera recalibration is spot on. Car reads traffic signs and other cars around me just like before. I received a crack in my windshield while driving in to work. The crack was small, but directly in front of the driver field of view and distracting. I set up an appointment for glass crack repair with the tech coming to my workplace. I left the keys with the front desk , as instructed in the appointment details, and the tech never picked them up. When I returned to my vehicle the crack in the windshield was even larger and more distracting than it was before I called. The 1-800 number was of no assistance, same with the email. I was told the price I paid could be credited towards a whole window replacement. So basically they want their unhappy customers to put even more money into their company, after they made the damage worse, so they can get the price of a whole window charged. Super fast and friendly! Upfront that the chip repair may cause further damage due to the location on the windshield. Which did happen, so no surprises. Able to order the replacement window and have it installed the next week without any issues. Told me due to the sensors located on my windshield that calibration might take longer and to expect up to 3 hours. Some dropped it off 30 minutes earlier than our appointment to run some errands. I had a windshield star about the size of a nickle that was hit or miss on whether it could be repaired or if the whole windshield needed to be replaced. Working through my insurance I ended up going to this Safelite, and I couldn't have been happier with the service and the end result. The appointment was easy to schedule with my insurance (1 week out from filing the claim). When I arrived, I was greeted by the manager, Nelson, who was very honest with me and managed my expectations when he looked at the windshield to assess if they could repair it. He said that they could do the best they could to repair the star, but that he thought it'd still be a 50/50 shot if it would spider out in the colder temperatures meaning the windshield would need replacing. I told him to go ahead with the repair, and worst case scenario, I'd just come back if it spidered out for a full windshield repair. I told them no rush on the time to repair, so after 40 minutes they let me know it was ready for pick-up. I was surprised to see how well the technician, Manny, had filled the star. It was still there (since there was no way to get rid of it) but barely noticeable from the outside. Nelson met me again to go over the repairs with me, and said I was good to go. Overall, couldn't have asked for better service, and if my windshield spiders or if it gets damaged again (inevitably), I'll be coming back to this location. read more

I woke up Saturday morning to find my windshield was busted overnight. I called my insurance company and they directed me to Safelite. Safelite told me they could come to my residence Tuesday to replace the windshield. Late Monday they called me and said I had to bring it to a shop, and I had to scramble to find an appointment. I brought my car in early Wednesday morning and took an Uber to work. As soon as my u er drops me off they call me and tell me they mishandled the replacement windshield and that there were some deep scratches. They were planning on putting a damaged wind shield on my car as a replacement, or make me wait several more days. I asked them to get an unblemished part from another Safelite location, but they refused. I said forget it and Uber'd back there to claim my car back. I found a local independent shop nearby and they were able to help me right away. Everyone should avoid this location. The workmanship is subpar, the communication is horrible, and they had no respect for my property. Do your research and take your dollars elsewhere. read more

They have many contracts with major auto insurance companies. A few years back when they started, they were customer service oriented and wanted to exceed customer satisfaction at everything they have offered then! Business grew and they got sloppy. They get so many businesses that they can cut corners and insurance companies ignore them. Be aware that they offer barely a mediocre job, especially if you have newer cars that may have cameras behind the windshield where they need to be recalibrated! They can't do it! They said it would take 2-3 hours to complete once they started. It's now after 5pm. It's NOT done and nobody called me to let me know they were running late. I called TWICE during the day which transferred me to a call center. They couldn't get anyone to answer the phone at the shop to give me an update. If you're running late, CALL. I had to get windows in 2 of my cars replaced due to vandalism. The one I paid out of pocket for I was able to schedule online for an appointment the day after the vandalism. So online scheduling is awesome! The one I did thru insurance seemed to take forever since the wrong glass was ordered and my appointment was postponed for over a week to wait on the correct glass. After the glass was installed, they left handprints and fingerprints on the glass as well as other marks I thought the glass would have been cleaned before returning the car to me, but I guess not. Also, there was glass left under the seat of the window that broke after the window was installed. So I wish that they were a bit more thorough when vacuuming but otherwise I can't complain too much as they are the professionals. One other reason I removed a star is every other glass repair or replacement service has a mobile operation when they can come out to your house and do it onsite. This branch however does not do mobile service for many areas in DC. Once you get your vehicle in, the service is quick. I do recommend coming as early as possible as there aren't so many other vehicles pending to be fixed. read more

Seems like reviews for Safelite are 50/50. I guess it depends on how damaged your windshield is and how hard it is to fix it back to new - if that is possible. I came here to fix a crack that occurred on the highway down in Fredericksburg where rocks and pebbles are flying everywhere. Even if you stay far away from trucks, you are destined to get hit. The rock that hit my windshield of my 2019 vehicle left a circular crack smaller than a quarter. Safelite was able to fill it in and, while there is still a small spot, the crack appears fixed. With newer cars having more expensive windshields - some connected to the electronics of the car, it is harder to get a windshield back to brand new condition. Anyways, appointment system was fine. They took about 30 minutes to repair. Went to get a car wash and the car looks brand new again. The spot isn't in my driver's side vision so it's not bothering me. Good location and great service! (Obviously if the crack spreads, then it spreads and they did their best LOL) read more

It is never fun to need a service like safelite but such is life. We needed a new rear windshield and our insurance works with Safelite to do this. We went to their location and they helped determine what we would need and wrapped our car with plastic and attempted to clean as much glass as they could out. Like most things recently the pandemic has really messed with lead times and availability of products and material. Unfortunately our windshield was effected by this. We had to wait 3 weeks for the glass to come in. When it came in and it was time for our appointment they thought they would need to delay because it came without the defroster connection. An amazing technician took it upon themselves to solder the connection in place so we didn't have to wait another 3 weeks. I will say all the technicians at this location were very helpful and did their best to resolve all our issues and get us up and running quickly. I do think that their scheduling system could be better. I did show up one week after making our initial appointment and they had not even received our windshield yet. This seems to be a corporate issue and an issue with their system. read more

Dropped the car off at my appointment time (9:30am). I went back to the shop at 3:00pm and explained to the receptionist that I had a childcare issue and needed to make other arrangements to pick up my daughter if the car would not be ready by 4:30pm. She said it was in the shop being worked on and it would only be another 30-40 minutes. I was fine with this since I had prepaid and would be able to get my daughter in plenty of time, except the receptionist didn't know what she was talking about. Received a text at 4:39pm saying service has now started on my car. Received another text 5 minutes later at 4:44pm saying the car was ready to be picked up. I had been in the waiting area since 3:00pm, so I went to the receptionist and showed her the text that my car was ready. She and the technician were both looking around and shuffling through papers trying to figure out the location and status of my car. Seemed like no one really knew what was going on. Thankfully a woman behind the counter (someone from corporate or a regional office maybe), who said it was her first time at that location, intervened. She apologized (first of the day) and said she would help. At 5:30pm they finally handed me the keys and said my car was ready. That's 2 hours past when the receptionist said it would be ready and 45 minutes past when the text said the car was ready. The reviews online (2.5/5.0 stars) are accurate. Safelite sacrifices customer service and quality for volume, which can be a very profitable business model. Avoid them if you can. Otherwise be prepared to wait. read more

I got my windshield replaced on August 6th by a technician that came to my house. When he was done he noted he broke my passenger side windshield wiper arm, and stated his boss agreed to get me a replacement and would call in the next few days with the report. Insurance paid for most and I paid $100 for the windshield install. I never heard from him, and the store has no local number to call. I called the 1800 safelite customer service who couldn't get in touch with the location and said they would give me a call back when they could. I got no call. On 8/12 I wrote my first review of the Alexandria location. I received a response to that review saying to schedule a warranty appointment. At that point I logged into safelite and saw an existing appointment for the warranty with a note they could not source the wiper arm. On 8/16 I scheduled another follow-up for August 26th and have the text message confirmation and calendar invite, but when I login to safelite it appears this one has been cancelled too and I can confirm no one showed up on 8/26. This was when I wrote my second review for the Alexandria location (8/22). That day I called the national customer service number 5 times, and was hung up on (no voicemail, and no representative came to the line and instead my call was ended within a few seconds as an agent wasn't available). Curiously, the review I posted this day and authorized via email (not spam) I do not see reflected in the comments on the website to this day. On 8/22-23 I had an appointment to get my oil changed, and noticed the safelite technician did not leave me the wiper blade, or the cap that goes over the bolt (he did thankfully leave me the bolt). A new wiper arm, cover, nut and labor were $312 (invoice provided), and a new blade was $23.60. I incurred $335.60 out of pocket to fix something that I did not do. I emailed the general customer service email address on 8/22. They replied timely saying they forwarded my email to the district and store manager, however to date no one has reached out. I did send a follow up email asking for their information on 8/28. read more

Setup the appointment 6 days in advance and they did not have the windshield when I went to the shop. A manager sated that it may take them up to 2 weeks to get the glass. The call rep stated that they left prior voice mails and nobody called me or left a voice mail before the day before the appointment. Then I read the other reviews and I had the same experience of the company deflecting and dancing around with excuses. Needless to say that I will not return there anytime soon. Horrible experience with Safelite. 2011 BMW 328i. 6 inch crack in windshield from rock on the beltway. First attempt to repair left with 2 inch gap in the weather striping. I called it in as a warranty situation and a different tech came out and attempted to fix it. He left the car with a broken windshield and black sealant hand prints all over the car. That was called in again for warranty and I was informed that I had to wait two weeks for the sealant to set from the botched install before the glass could be replaced again. Two weeks later a third tech came out and replaced the broken replacement glass. I thought that was the end of it. But now when it rains my floor boards fill with water. I noticed the trim/molding near the glass was not seated properly. A month later I had the car in for other service and pointed out my concerns. They informed me that many of the clips on the trim, shroud and cowl are broken and all that will need replacement, $1200. I do not trust Safelite to ever touch my car again, warranty or no warranty. After disassembly of the area to gain access they discovered additional amateur attempts with the black window sealant caked up and spewed everywhere. While they were attempting to razor knife away all the excess sealant they ended cracking the cheap aftermarket windshield. They are replacing that with genuine BMW glass at their expense. They use the same installer for glass that the local BMW dealers use. I called my insurance company for help but they said all warranty issues must go through Safelite and there was no recourse from them. Safelite is dead to me. This shop acted like this was their first job fixing the windshield. I came here to get my windshield fixed - about 10-inch crack - but they they told it requires replacement, and they needed 2 weeks to get the part. 1.5 week after, I still didn't know when my next appointment was. I happened to check their website looking for the shop's contact. Turned out they scheduled my next appointment without telling me. I came to the 2nd appointment for the replacement. I waited at a nearby coffee shop. After 1 hour in, the shop called me that they got the wrong part which didn't fit to my car. They needed to re-order the right part. Not only they refused to make the next appointment until the part arrives, they cracked my windshield so bad it looked like spider web all over the glass. 5 day later, I called them if the part has arrived. No, it wouldn't arrive another 1.5 week. 3 weeks without no right parts and breaking my windshield so bad, I called another shop which also takes my insurance. They fixed my windshield 2 days later. This shop's service is below amateur and their work is child's craft class (sorry kids - I don't mean to insult you guys). Oh - on my first visit here, one customer walked in saying "Hey, I am here for the windshield replacement. Hope you guys got the right part this time." While I did have to push back the appointment a few days to await the arrival of undamaged glass, Alan reassured me that he would prioritize getting my car done as early as possible on the new appointment day. I had just moved out to VA from AZ, and during the drive out here I got a crack on my windshield that went all the way from top to bottom. I needed this fixed asap and was able to schedule an appointment two days out. They were able to complete the replacement so quick! Also I had parking stickers on my window that I forgot to inform them about, but they came into the waiting room to confirm with me if I still needed my stickers on my new windshield. I was so thankful for that since my apartment complex is so strict about those parking stickers. Great customer service, and I was in and out within and hour and a half. The quarter glass window on my car was broken for the second time this year but this time I really needed it fixed as I was loaning my car out the following week. To expedite the process I set an appointment to get this work done in Alexandria rather that fixed mobily like I'd done earlier in the year. That experience was overwhelmingly positive this was not. For starters, They still had an artificial Christmas tree in the lobby. I should've taken that as a sign but I was loaning my car out the next day. I was on time and waited in the lobby for about 5 minutes for the technician to get my keys and such. After they pulled my car in the garage, I was told that it would be about an hour but I knew that was a conservative estimate from my previous experience. I decided to wait outside but no sooner than I'd sat down the technician came to me with bad news, the glass was not in that days delivery. Everyone makes mistakes but I'm incensed at this point. I still needed my window fixed so I decided against making a stink. I spoke with the manager who assured me that a mobile visit would be fine and that he was sorry for assuming that the replacement glass would be delivered on time and sorry that no one checked before my arrival. This occurred on a Thursday afternoon and I was told by the manager that I would be called to schedule a visit and that I wouldn't need to worry about the queue. All of that makes sense but the following week came and Monday there was no call and Tuesday there was no call. Since we like to make assumptions, I was thinking that the glass had arrived by this point so I called the manager's direct line on Wed. Another number returned the call and the caller was not the manager. It is at this moment where I think that it can't get any worse but the person calling from Safelite told me that the glass hadn't arrived. (My eBay stuff is arriving just fine.) When the person on the phone said that they would call me when I can bring the car in I jumped in to say that "y'all are coming to me." That is when I learned that only a shop from D.C. or Maryland could visit me and that I would have to come in whenever they called me. At that point I was done. I wanted to hang up but I didn't. I wanted to ask why their service ranges are so inefficient but I didn't. I said please call me when the class arrives and proceeded to set an appointment through D.C./Maryland shop. TL/DR: 1. Made an appointment but glass not delivered in time for appointment. No one called me to save me the trip. No one called to reschedule. This occurred on a Thursday. I called on the next Wed. When I did called I was told that I couldn't schedule a mobile visit due to my living in D.C. and that D.C. and Maryland centers are grouped apart from VA ones. None of this was told to me by the manager who had my address and phone number when I was in shop and told that it would not be a problem to have a technician visit me. read more

On roadtrip back home rock flew up & cracked windshield (wife was driving j/s)- LOL. Went to this location and a tech looked at it and said it was repairable. He said he could do now, I was like cool, if less than deductible will just pay cash. I went in to fill out paperwork, Kiki (hope I got right) was super nice & explained that if repairable that USAA would cover it at no cost to me. I just needed to schedule through the USAA App and make an appointment. I did and super easy, back in shop the next day, windshield fixed. They did amazing job, explained that there may be a visible blemish, I did not really see one, just a super small mark. The crack was gone. They explained everything such as possible repair turning into replacement which would require the deductible. Glad it did not come to that, but it was explained. I took my car to this location for windshield repair (referred by Geico). One week after, the moulding (trim) was coming off. I took a closer look, and it was not placed properly and had a broken piece. The next week, a police officer stops me on 495 to inform me that the inspection sticker was placed on the wrong spot, and that I should go back to whoever replaced my windshield to fix it. So I called Safelite customer service, and made an appointment so they could fix the problems, according to their warranty. Before I could make it to the appointment, I received an email from them cancelling my appointment. I proceeded to call GEICO and reported what happened. They put me in touch with Safelite customer service one more time, and we scheduled a mobile appointment this time. When the Safelite technician arrived at my home, he informed me he came to fix a crack on the windshield. No, sir, that's not it. I showed him the moulding coming off around my windshield, and told him about the experience with the police officer. He said he couldn't help me, that wasn't his specialty. He suggested that I return to the shop and dealt with them in person. I returned to the shop the same day, and waited for two hours so my inspection sticker could be placed in the right spot. The technician ripped it and left the glue on the glass where they had wrongfully placed it before. Now, I am waiting for one week while they order the new moulding for my car. Needless to say, the work done by this shop is subpar and will leave you going back and forth. I could not be more disappointed. read more

I visited Safelite on 2 different occasions to get an estimate for replacing my 2020 Ford Transit windshield. The first quote was $500 approximately. I refused that price and another glass company did the job well for $300. Fast forward a few years and low and behold there was another crack in the windshield. This time Safelite quoted a price of $700+. I balked at this and went back to the other company. They still did the work for $350. Safelite is way too expensive and convenience does not matter.
