because of our insurance we took our model Y to Safelite repair off I 35 in Austin, Texas. Not only did they not align the car properly so that we have it calibrated for full self driving. They also damaged the front camera that's on the windshield by damaging it, stripping off the finish and it appears they tried to glue it back. Now they are forcing us to go back to show them the damage they want the card to drive the car again by themselves. And we are asking them to reimburse us for the money we're gonna have to spend at Tesla to get this fixed. Absolute terrible service. When you get a new car for the first time in your driving life and you get hit by a big ol' rock while just minding your business on IH 35 AND it creates a huuuuuge crack across windshield - what do you do? Well you sing the Safelite jingle you hear on the tv, radio, or social media and you give them a call and make an appointment. Scheduling an appointment on the website was easy as was finding the location closest to me to get quick service for my repair. I had several follow-up communication including email and text messages (if you opt in). I appreciated these reminders because it kept me on time and ready for my appointment. Upon walking in we were greeted immediately by staff and they got us all settled with our appointment. It was communicated to us, in email/texts, and in person that our service would be at least 2-3 hours. Knowing this ahead of time allowed me to plan to go to the nearby Mexican bakery and taqueria (taco spot) to eat breakfast and hang out. I even went back home since we were so close to home. Our service was professional and took less time than they had communicated with us. Within 2 hours we were already heading back to grab the car with our new windshield! We received a text message and a phone call from the shop to inform us that they were ready for us. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) windshield installed and has been fantastic after a week. The calibration on our font camera and lane/driving assist works flawlessly after the install too. We didn't roll out of there with any tape on our windshield either as I thought we would have to. We have been very pleased with the service and professional experience we had since scheduling our appointment to a week later. read more

Horrible experience replacing my truck windshield! First try, it leaked. Loud wind when driving. Had to wait a week for a tech to come back and remove the glass and he found a gap not sealed. Then this tech couldn't get the seal in correctly. It was sticking out on the driver side. Had to wait a week for another tech to come and bring the correct seal. 3rd tech came and discovered the wipers had been put on backwards from the previous tech and there was black sealant left on the hood. 4th time they finally installed it correctly but management refused to do anything about the black sealant on my paint. To make the long short. Went to safelite to replace my rear glass last year in September-October and they managed to unplug my side curtain airbag and damage/take wires from the car causing the rear defroster to not work. The Long: In September of 2024 I accidently dropped the gas strut on my car onto the rear glass and caused a large crack that went across the entire surface. I decided to go to the dealership but they were still several weeks out so I went to safelite as it was recommended by some some friends. The price was competitive and the timeline was far better than the dealership so It was a good start but things went downhill quick! First visit was a bust ... literally as the apparently the tech broke the replacement rear glass so the job ended up not being done. After waiting another week and wasting 20 dollars on ubering to the location they finally replaced the rear glass but to my surprise an airbag error popped up on the screen. I went in right away and was told it would reset after driving the car a few miles. It DID NOT. Multiple visits were scheduled again to fix the airbag issue. They finally discovered that during the visit where the panel was replaced the techs in question managed to unplug the airbag and jam the cable down in part of the trim where it couldn't be found. As a nice bonus on this mess the rear glass that I received had waves in it which needed another replacement panel luckily this time a oem panel. Moving forward a few months I thought everything was fine until a few days ago (June 5th) when I in maintenance mode and saw a rear defroster error message. I decided to explore the area and was shocked when I saw the two harness that were suppose to connect the rear defroster to the rest of the car were missing and a part of the radio tuner had its tab bent. I gave safelite multiple opportunities to rectify the issue and at every turn things got worse. The fact they have techs that are willing to play it fast and loose and unplug critical safety systems like airbags is insane. I would go elsewhere if you need to replace glass unless you want a multiple issues popping up down the line. read more

Safelite has canceled my appointment three times now. First time, no vin. I provided vin TWICE. They canceled again for no vin. Most recently, this shop told me the cancellation was due to a back order. Funny thing is, I called Volkswagen after work, and the part isn't back ordered at all. It can actually be here Friday. Go anywhere but here -- unless you want someone blatantly lying to you about your service. For the person who told me to chat with an agent on my Google review-- If y'all think I haven't been "chatting with agents," you're insane. I've talked to agents 5-6 times and ONE of them helped me by sending me YOUR number where YOUR STAFF lied to us over and over again, one of which even lied claiming he was Zach (the manager, according to y'all's customer service team) turns out, his name is Paul or something of the sort. Booked my appt as the 'preferred vendor' from both my Dealership and Insurance Carrier. Received multiple auto msgs. re: my 7am Monday appt. Arrived on time to discover they did not have the 3-part molding assembly they needed to do the work -- and did not know when it would arrive. So, my :45 min Mon morning drive was a waste of my time, and no one thought to look ahead at the books and notify me. Never heard back from the location (at all) though I reached out 2 additional times. I then reached out to Corporate for assistance. If I could give this place a zero I would. Not only did they install the back windshield improperly the first time causing water to come into my vehicle, the second time they fixed my front windshield and the tape ripped off my paint. I was told to come in for a "warranty" appointment to look at the tape and was told that there was nothing they could do. The technician Michael D. said he instructed to remove the tape after 30 minutes but that is 100% false as it was pouring rain that day and my vehicle wasn't even in my possession until 430 pm that day after being notified the second repair was done at 4 pm. How could I physically remove the tape if I couldn't pickup the car until the evening? DO NOT go here unless you want your car damaged and poor customer service. When asked to escalate the issue, I was told he's the manager and to call a call center. Horrible shop. I then had to pay out of pocket to have a mechanic fix something that never should've been an issue in the first place. And the nightmare didn't stop there. I was told by multiple Safelite customer service reps that I would be reimbursed through their so-called "warranty" system. That was over a month ago. Since then? Crickets. I've been bounced around, given the runaround, and lied to--repeatedly. No check. No confirmation. No accountability. I paid to have front windshield replaced in my 2014 ford transit connect and they left broken glass in air ducts and fragments over the entire dash poor service and then they sent out the same guy to fix the issue but he was unsuccessful because he didn't have the right tool for his vacuum... so I called for someone else to fix it and they sent the same technician out. DO NOT GO HERE! charged me more than double the quoted price online without my consent!!!! the online quoted price was quoted $405 online, they even sent me a coupon for $150 off so i was expecting to pay closer to $300. I dropped my car off and was never told that there would be any extra fees. a few hours later i get a text that they charged my card on file for $761... no warning or discussion before they did this. they told me they had to charge me $450 extra recalibration fee which was warned on their website but at no point does the website or their staff tell you the cost until the work has already been done. go somewhere else more affordable and more honest. Two stars because they will come to you and booking online was relatively easy. The chip in my windshield was directly in my line of sight. In error, I assumed that if the chip could not be repaired or was not able to be repaired in a manner that would not cause more of a distraction, that the tech would call me & recommend a new windshield. Instead of that happening. I have what looks like elmers glue over the crack. I can't see through it like before it was "repaired". I should have checked Yelp before trusting Safelite with my windshield repair. I also called my insurance company to complain & to ask them to quit paying for work from Safelite. Ps, Yes, I did call the local store and spoke with Susan Franco who told me she understood and would take a look at the pictures I sent her to see if perhaps this was just a sloppy job or something. I had to get my windshield replaced two months ago because it had gotten cracked. I got it replaced and then there was a whistling humming sound when I was driving a high . So I took it back to them. They said it's coming through the calibration sensor, which is not even exposed to the outside, so that was an outright lie, which took them an hour and a half to come up with. So I took it back and then they told me that the molding was bent and is causing the air leak, but they can't do anything about it even though they're the ones who bent the molding. Made an appointment the day before for the morning and I was in and out in an hour for the small cracks in my windshield. Got quoted online and they said it might be more because I had an extra crack but they didn't up the charge because it was so small. $304 with no insurance and new windshield wipers. All communication via text prior said the cost would be $495. The tech did a great job and when finished he told us the cost would be $495. I saw on his device that the cost was $495. He said we will get email receipt shortly. He left and we saw that we were charged $832. I called him to speak about it and he said there must have been some kind of mistake because it should have only been $495. He said he would call manager and call me back. He called back and said that we would get a call from manager and they would get it resolved. Never heard from manager and so we had to call a few days later. Spoke with someone and they also confirmed that in looking at everything that we should have only been charged $495. She tried calling manager but was not able to get in contact with him. She said she will email him with high importance and that we would definitely hear back. It has been nearly 3 weeks and we have yet to hear from someone or get issued resolved. It never fails that eventually, a random rock comes out of nowhere and ends up ruining a car window and possibly your day. This time, it was delivered to a side window via a yard guy's weedeater. And there went our fun money toward a deductible instead. However, Safelite once again fixed us up with the replacement window, and the pricing came in just under the deductible. Times have changed with the pandemic, so they no longer take walk-ins, and they are typically booking appointments around two weeks out. I made one online, then drove by the shop at our insurance company's suggestion to ask for a "crash wrap" to prevent the shattered glass from collapsing into the car or the garage or the street. This is essentially a sheet of sticky clear plastic wrap, and they were able to install it very quickly. Alex also graciously found a cancellation and moved up our appointment to the day that the ordered replacement window would arrive (a few days out instead of two weeks)! One tip: when you call the Safelite number, you get the national office, and you can't contact the locations directly. Another tip: the locations don't stock windows/windshields, due to space. They order them when you make your appointment. You can enter your car's VIN to make sure you get the correct glass, and there are several other glass options as well (like tint color). Lucas did an exceptional job of replacing my window in about an hour. I was impressed with the efficiency and politeness of both the technical and administrative staff at this location. The new window I chose was privacy glass (not the green glass), and it matches the dealer-installed tint so well that I don't even need to have new tint applied.The privacy glass actually looks better. The dealer wanted almost twice what Safelite charged to replace the window, and it would have taken longer and required the after-market tint. And this replacement came with a lifetime guarantee. I'm still a fan of this Safelite location. read more
