A Safelite rep was supposed to come fix my windshield between the 12-5 today, but I missed his call when he arrived. He didn't ring the buzzer or text me or attempt to reach me any other way, just left. Then he called me a few mins later and said he wasn't coming because I didn't answer and he'd moved on. I've been sitting here all afternoon waiting for him and it was too much effort to get out of his truck and buzz my apartment. He even chuckled when I told him how frustrating this was. I said "do you think this is funny" and he said "yeah". I was warned to stay away from Safelite and I realize now why. Totally unprofessional. read more

So I attempted to get mobile windshield repair through a filed claim. The first time they were hours late, so that appointment was re-scheduled. The second time they were a no-show all-together. The third appointment, Robert from Oak Lawn called to confirm and attempted to change the appointment to in-person as opposed to the mobile appointment as scheduled. The 4th no-show was beyond upsetting. This company is the worst and they play games as to pretend that there was mistakes or clerical errors to offset the fact that are over-booked. Avoid this company if possible. read more

I do not want to give any stars. If I could it would be a -5 The worst Customer Service of any company that I have ever worked with. They came out to replace my windshield and used an after market product that would not allow my Camera to mount to it. Then informed me that they would be out the next week to Fix it would probably need an OEM glass they showed up the next week and they had no glass they only scheduled a recalibration. Now they consider it a warranty claim that takes approval from my insurance to authorize the OEM glass. Have talked to my insurance and they said that they have never heard of needing to approve an OEM glass, Talked to customer service at safelight They are no help I am now told that until they get approval from the Insurance they can go no further. Can you give 0 stars? Safelight is one of the worst companies to deal with. Back story is my car had hail damage , and they wouldn't file the glass through the same claim. All good and fine, file with safelight, but safelight a month later still won't approve the claim and give us our hail damage claim number in reference. No one can give us a straight answer or the body shop of when I will get my car back. Safelite is a scam, don't use their services for anything. A windshield should take no less than 3 days to order and have installed. We are going on a month. Again do not use the scummy of a service. read more

I had a frustrating experience with Safelite and was wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar or has advice on what to do next. Safelite came to my parents place to fix my windshield. (I live in the city and my parents live in the suburbs. I figured two for one visit here) The technician was kind and professional. He mentioned that I hadn't purchased windshield wipers with the replacement, but I had recently replaced them myself. He acknowledged that and moved forward. However, maybe 10 minutes later, he told me that one of the wipers couldn't be reinstalled or fixed. It seemed odd to me that this happened. I also had to drive home with one wind shield. Anyways, I let it go and focused on getting the windshield replaced. About 30 minutes later, the windshield was done, but when I went to my car that evening, I noticed the lights had been left on. When I tried to start my car, the battery was completely dead. This turned into a huge ordeal because I was at my parents' house, parked in the middle of the driveway. My dad, who is 80 and very ill, and my 70-year-old mom had to help me push my car out of the way. They were understandably upset, and so was I. Now, I need a new battery and windshield wipers, turning what should have been a simple service into a $500+ mistake. I know accidents happen, but this feels like something that could have been avoided. Has anyone else experienced this? I've tried contacting safelight but not having any luck. My battery cost almost $400. I replaced my battery end of December 2022. my car is now at the dealership to get my windshield wipers replaced because they are the only ones that can fix it. Replaced my windshield but window wipers didn't work. I called for warranty to calibrate windshield. Came out again and still didn't work. Had to go to dealership and now Safelite won't reimburse. Do not use Safelite! They don't know what they are doing. read more

A faulty window was installed, with no recourse to address the issue. Its Sat and to get this resolved; that is to have Safelite install a non faulty window, it will not close after their installation, I have to wait until Monday and put in a warranty claim which they have to approve, to get this remedied! No customer servece, just a bot and a person repeating what the bot said. Of course safelite has already charged the card. No integrity at this company. Also installer handed me the keys and said it was all done and in working order. I asked him to let me check and ofcourse the window lowered but could not close. read more

I got a little crack (maybe half an inch?) on my windshield from a pebble strike while driving down I-55. I booked the windshield repair service online, my technician, Jimmy, came out all the way from the burbs to fix it--and he did a terrific job in less than 30 min! I can't even tell where the crack was! Love that it's fully covered under their warranty for the lifetime of the car too. I used a coupon and the total came out to $143 and change. Dunno if that's cheap or expensive bc I've never had to do this before...? But I'm gonna go ahead and say that it was worth it for the quality and convenience!! Attempted to get my windshield replaced 5 times! I didn't order the correct windshield, so they had to order the correct one. The new appointment was rescheduled, only to get rescheduled for another two weeks out. The new windshield came in and the technician didn't notice the new windshield was cracked. I had to schedule an appointment for another 2 weeks out for a new windshield and a piece of trim (since mine was somehow cracked in half). The new appointment was scheduled (with unfortunately no anticipation that I'd have a new windshield), and low and behold, the technician called and told me the new windshield was cracked....and I would need to reschedule. So far I've been dealing with Safelite for a month to get a new windshield. Funny how they make it look so easy on the commercial. Moving on to another company. A few things to be aware of- One- it takes a very long time even if you make an appointment for full windshield repair. There is absolutely NOTHING around here so beware If you plan on waiting for completion. Two-I left there missing a piece off my luggage rack on top of roof. Service claimed they never touched that area. Well it was there when I pulled in. Now it's going to cost me even more money to get a piece replaced after I've already paid over $1,000 between insurance and out of pocket for glass repair. Three-I originally was scheduled with Gerber glass and should have stuck with them, since I used them in past. BEWARE of what you're getting into. Safelite repair, safelite replace could end up costing you more than you think. The catchy slogan doesn't live up to the quality service I had expected. Btw- I even tipped the car repair technician for the service. Ya, I'm stupid. read more

I had a appointment with Safelite location in Oak Lawn,IL on 11/19/24, My 2021 Alfa Romeo stelvio, right side rear small glass busted out. I got to the location and the front desk worker Chris was very welcoming nice and courtesy, he explained what needed to done and the time frame that it was going to take. I was on my lunch break at work and it only took them a 45 minutes to do the job. They did a really good job and I will recommend snd referral them to this location. Let me tell you...You don't find too many companies with such great integrity. I went to Safelite to have my windshield replace due to a rock cracking it on my driver's side. I got there at 3pm sharp and they took my car in 10 to 15 minutes after I get there. The technician finished my work quicker than expected and called me out to see his work and to give me some news. The work looked great and I was happy, he then explained that there was a minor scar on the windshield. I honestly had to squint my eyes to find it...it is not noticeable at all. But they wanted to show the minor scar and give me a little off it or I could bring it back for another windshield. I took the money off and left happy and I do RECOMMEND their service to anyone and everyone Thanks FELLAS! read more

DO NOT USE THEM. Used the online quote tool and got quoted $1300+ for a $300 windshield job (yes, I used my VIN and it's the correct windshield for my vehicle - this was not a mistake). What a joke. Call around for prices with local repair shops and give your money to small businesses, not this corporate garbage. read more

We made a 9:30 appointment and when we arrived to drop off they said that it would be done by 5:00 as it was a drop and go. I explained that we had a 9:30 am appointment and she just kept responding it didn't mean we would get in by 9:30. We ended up leaving bc we couldn't believe they wouldn't honored our appointment. Made my appointment to stop by their shop to have the chip in my windshield fixed. Unfortunately it was actually 2 chips close to each other. They did try to fix it with the epoxy system and the technician noticed that the crack was expanding so we agreed to replace the windshield. Two days later when the replacement glass got into the shop I came back and they did the full replacement. It did take a little longer than I thought to complete the work but it was more involved than I was thinking. The guys were great to work with and really cared about what they were doing. Hopefully I don't need their service anytime soon but if I do they will be the first ones I call. read more

I had an appointment on 2/17/24 scheduled to come replace my windshield at my home between 8am-12pm. The tech called me around 8:15am and asked me to come in to the shop, because it was too cold out. I said I would rather reschedule for another day because I was busy. He said he could come pick up my car and take it to the shop and bring it back, so I agreed. I figured 2 people would arrive to take the car back as well as their own vehicle, but the tech arrived alone and insisted I pay for his parking. He arrived to pick up my car around 8:40am and returned the car around 12:30pm that afternoon. I got a speeding ticket by camera in the mail from 2/17/24 at 8:52am. I reached out to Safelite to reimburse me for the ticket and have been following up for over a month and am getting the runaround. read more

I recently had a pebble crack my windshield so I cam here to get it fixed. You sign up online, and type in your information and car insurance details. It was very fast and easy to do and my insurance was accepted. I dropped my car off in the morning and then went back home, but honestly it was done so fast, I could have just stayed and waited for it to be finished. The new window looked great, and I had them replace my windshield wipers and they've been working like a charm ever since. I've referred here to friends, and will definitely come back in the future. read more

Had a rock put a 2 foot crack in my front windshield. Called my insurance and had an appointment at Safelite for that Monday. They replaced the glass and recalibrated the cameras in about 2-3 hours. I waited a few days to place this to make sure I didn't have any issues with noise or leaking but it has been perfect. There was a lot of noise online about Safelite using their own glass, which is supposedly low-quality. The glass they used in my truck is from Fuyao, and one of their USA facilities. Fuyao is an OEM and aftermarket glass manufacturer so I'm pretty confident that the glass is reasonable quality. It also looks identical to the original windshield and I know because I took before and after photos just in case. I also checked for dirt, debris and scratches post-installation and everything was fine. This was for a 2020 4Runner with less than 12,000 miles so I was very careful but they did a very nice job. Finally, they sent a certificate of camera calibration via email. I'm pretty impressed to be honest. read more

While it took over a week for my back window to get fixed.. they showed up on-time, did all the work in my home garage and replaced the busted window. I have an older car and worried about getting the right fit and make for my specific model-- I literally could not tell the difference. VERY professional and VERY worth it. By the way, I contacted a TOYOTA dealer to price the same window-replacement-- they would've been $1000 (plus, they would've had to order the window--didn't have it in stock), Safelite charged me $400. Dropped off at our appointed time, 8AM, and was told that it would take 3 hours and that they'd call when ready. 4 hours later, not hearing anything, I tried to call them. Safelite makes it impossible to reach the individual shop or any human. Every prompt rolls you eventually back to the start of the automated call. 5 hours later I drove to the shop. They said "sorry, it won't be ready until 5PM." When they finally called end of day, I told them that I would pick it up in the morning. The next morning, when I arrived to claim my vehicle, it was parked outside in the very public lot, unlocked. When I went in and told the Safelite person, he just shrugged. read more

I got my windshield replaced this afternoon. Upon inspection I've noticed a few issues. One, the trim/seal along the passenger side pillar is not sealed correctly. Second, my passenger side mirror is now hanging loose and will need repaired. The trim/seal along the base of the window has obvious damage from installation as well. Pictures and video will be included. Just curious if this is typical Installation protocol? Pretty upset that I paid a premium for this and now have new damaged pieces. **this was an email I sent twice after my install. I have yet to be responded to** read more

Scheduling was pretty easy online and communication was good, but that's all the positive feedback I can say about Safelite. They built in replacement wipers for $70/pair (available for $45 at the auto parts store down the street.) They were willing to deduct it when I asked if I could keep my fairly new silicone wipers though, but you have to be able to talk to a live person from that location. Most egregiously they add an automatic charge of almost $400 to "recalibrate" sensors that don't have to be disconnected and therefore don't need recalibration. This was not a negotiable charge apparently. The final nail in this coffin was finding out that "waiting space is limited" so they don't want you to wait there for the THREE HOURS they require to replace the glass. If you don't have a second car and driver to pick you up and drop you off again a few hours later, plan on the additional expanse to pay for a ride OR hope there is a local business that will let you loiter for several hours. I went with another company. Ultimate Auto Glass came to me and had it done perfectly in less than ONE hour for HALF the price. read more

I had the worst experience with Safelite. They cancelled my appointment the day before with a test message and didn't even call. I called over 10 times and could not get through to anyone to figure out why my appointment was cancelled. When they finally replaced the windshield, they couldn't get the sensors to start working and told me if they couldn't figure it out, I would have to figure it out elsewhere.
