I requested an OEM Gorilla Glass windshield, but it took three appointments to get the correct one installed. Four days later it cracked from a rock, and Safelite could not provide proof that the windshield was ordered through Mopar, which meant I could not use the 2-year Gorilla Glass warranty. Had an appointment for 12-5 on 7/16. Called at 3:30 to see if I could get an ETA, was told my appointment had been cancelled. After texting with the bot, had to call, got transferred 2 times and finally spoke with Kevin who insists he called me at 9 am. No call in my missed calls, recent calls or voicemail, at 9:30 am I had gotten an email from the tech confirming my appointment, had I not called I would have thought they blew me off, this after I had given them a credit card online to make the appointment, no money, no appointment, rescheduled for 7/17 in the morning, get an email that says 8 am, then a text that says8-9:50 am. He showed up about 8:30. I wasn't there, my husband was, I can't take two days off of work for this, get home, look at windshield, was not replaced with OEM, or even the lesser quality car light, glass is made by Fuyao, never heard of them. At no point was I advised it would not be OEM. Deeply disappointed, I hope the acoustics will be there, Lincoln vehicle glass has a certain acoustic that makes the vehicle quieter. Needed a windshield replaced due to rock smash on I 80 In my 2019 VW Atlas. Made an appointment for a drop off and pick up yesterday. Fought traffic early to get it there by 9:30am. Safelite called at 2:15pm to tell me they code nor replace the windshield due to a code for lane departure lines indicate. This was a lie. The orange lights are always on on the dash and when the cruise is set those lights turn green. Which they did on my trip back home. Lane departure is fine. Went to competitor the next day. In and out in 45 minutes for. No mention of said code or a need for calibration of the forward collision control camera needing recalibration. This false diagnosis from Safelite caused-my wife quite a bit of stress. as we tried to set something up with VW for this repair. Called Aaron auto glass and they performed the task for a fraction of what the dealer and Safelite would have charged. read more

If I could put 0 I would, This is an extremely large company that wants to use people like robots. To make an appointment with my insurance was very easy by computer, but then comes the human factor. Now I am only 5 miles away from the location, but I chose to have mobile service, this was where I went wrong. They gave me a window between 8-12 ( should have known cable guy). Tech called at 9 said he would be there between 11-12. Last appointment picking me up on the way back to the shop. It's now 12:30 writing this review, text me won't be here till 1 or 2. So I canceled 800 number is worthless, but I feel bad for the service guy having to many appointments. Ugh day wasted money lost. Adding to review, I felt bad for the technician for being overbooked by corporate, but he was able to make it the next day . No I just had a chip filled and I understand that it's not a cosmetic repair structural repair even though in the commercial they show a chip and when he's done it's absolutely clear mine looked terrible and it's right in the center of the glass drawing your eye to it every time you drive. read more

I called every number I could find for Crest Hill Safelite, and kept getting that you had to schedule appointment on the website. 4 times I entered my information, and the site said someone would have to contact me. No one ever contacted me. I tried all the numbers I could find on the interweb and kept getting the Safelite song, and that they were not taking calls. No one contacts you! No one answers the phone! Why use a company like this! I am willing to pay to have a new windshield installed, I am done with Safelite, I now start calling around to find someone who returns calls, or answers a phone. read more

My dad had Safelight replace the rear window in his pickup truck. Installation seemed to go as expected. A month after the window was installed, he got home from work, closed his front door and the window behind the driver's side back seat busted from the inside out. My dad retuned to safelight the next morning and told them what happened. The guy pretty much dismissed him as soon as my dad got there by saying it wouldn't be covered under warranty without even seeing it. My dad said, you're not even going to go outside and look at it?! The guy humored him by going out there and as they walked up to the truck, he said, this isn't installation error or a defect, it looks like that was hit. The guy proceeds to walk up to the passenger side of the truck and slapped the window pretty hard and says, see, if it a defect or installed improperly, that would have broken the glass! My husband and I own a small business in the auto industry and we would never act like that! My dad ended up having to go through his insurance again and have it replaced at another business. Even if they weren't going to warranty the window, the behavior of this less than professional employee was uncalled for. If you expect any type of customer service, or even integrity, go somewhere else as you won't find that here! read more

The staff at this location is highly professional, polite and courteous. I went last week to get the cracked windshield inspected and asked if it is covered under warranty. The receptionist greeted me with respect and was professional and polite. The technician, after inspecting the vehicle, spoke to me about the damage and informed me that they will replace the windshield under warranty and at no cost to me. A big help financially as I recently lost work and this expense would have caused an additional strain. I am grateful to Safelite in Plainfield, IL and their staff for excellent service and I highly recommend this place. read more

We had 3 trucks that needed service. The only appointment that was attentive and on time is because after the first two not being on time I complained and suddenly. They made it on time. They schedule based on their work, not based on the customer's needs. Since I see them all over television and stuff, I figured they would know what they are doing. However, they totally messed up my claim, and they keep calling me and calling me and calling me. Going there is like having a full-time job with all the crap I have to go through. I think I've had to make at least 12 different phone calls throughout this process. I have a shop and the insurance sent over a request to replace a Jeep front windshield by us which we did on 8/3/2021 to this day back and fourth with emails as no one answers the phone trying to get paid on the balance due. Safelite had submitted my bill to the insurance for repayment which they got but yet I get the same BS when they get to the check will be sent out. Today is 1/31/2022 still not been paid and no one I mean no one calls back. This is a poor way of doing business and we will never refer any work to be performed by you. (Kathy Flanagan ) from Safelite keeps giving me the same BS it has been put in for supplement payment of $152.86 and they work the request in the order in which they receive them. That is total BS pay they use. We have another customer coming in for rust around his windshield from not being primed when glass was changed. Safelite said they would cover it I told my customer he has to pay the bill and wit to get paid back from Safelite. Now same customer had someone break his window drivers door glass USAA sent him back to Safelite they changed the glass but never cleaned out the door and bent the outside belt mldg and never plug his window switch in correctly. He went the the dealer to get it fixed and all Safelite said was sorry not we will cover that bill. Now USAA is paying us to take it all apart and clean out the glass replace the mldg and paint the door as the glass installer never mentioned outside scratches from glass shards. read more

This company replaced my windshield on my Tacoma a few months back and I failed to notice right away that they chipped my paint on my hood. I can see where they where placing a tool underneath the molding on my passenger side of the windshield to detach the molding and it appears in the attempt to do so my hood paint was chipped all the way down to the metal. The worst part about this company is they failed to come forward and tell me about their mistake. Now I will have to fix this myself to prevent my 2021 Tacoma hood from rusting. Ordered online with my vin number and prepaid knowing my morning was going to be busy. They showed up on time with the wrong windshield. The technician said this happens a lot. But the right windshield was more expensive plus over $300 more to calibrate my car!! I spoke to the manager who said it was my fault for ordering the wrong windshield and there was nothing he could do to discount the price or service. Awful awful customer service. The cost to calibrate the car was twice what the dealership charges. DO NOT USE THIS STORE. Make a happy customer, they will tell 3 people, upset a customer they will tell 10! My windshield got a large spiderweb crack due to some highway debris. I filed a claim through my insurance, and was able to easily schedule a repair through Safelite. I chose the Crest Hill location due to where we live and could not have been happier with my experience. I brought my car in at the scheduled time, they took it back, and replaced and calibrated the new windshield in about an hours time. The technician could not have been friendlier and the waiting room was comfortable and accommodating. Would highly recommend this location to anyone! read more

Had a rock chip my windshield. Called my insurance company and they patched me through to Naperville location. Couldn't get me in with an appointment until next Friday and couldn't come to my house for 10 days. I knew the crack was going to spread and by then I'd have to get the entire windshield replaced. Called the 800 number and was told again they were booked but then said I was welcomed to walk in at a location asee if they could fit me in. Decided to drive to the Crest Hill location and I'm so glad I did. Very nice people. Got me right in and the repair looks great! Almost can't see any remnants of a crack or chip. We had a super easy experience getting our windshielf replaced with Safelite. We used the mobile service and it could not have been any easier. I went online to make the appt and did not know exactly what I wanted so I saved it. In the meantime they sent me a coupon for $50 off so that made up my mind to do the mobile service since it more than paid for that. I made the appt on a Saturday and they had times as early as Monday but I chose Wednesday becasue I was busy the other days and I preferred a morning appt. This morning I had a call before 8am from David who let me know he would be on his way. Then I got a text that showed a map of where he was so I knew exactly when he would get here. He was super friendly and professional and really took his time doing the repair. He was very careful with everything in my car and put everything back together. I think he was here just under two hours. We paid about $210 and he was able to take a credit card and email me a receipt. I recently went into this location to have my windshield replaced on my car upon entering I am countered Ray, who I believe was a manager, who, after checking me in, indicated, per the governors order, if I wanted to stay inside I would have to wear a face mask. Not wanting to argue with him I simply sat outside for the hour and a half it took to fix my car. The fact of the matter is this: the governors order mandates a mask be worn, when inside, if you cannot keep proper distancing of 6 feet. Either Ray doesn't know this, doesn't care or deliberately misrepresented it . As such, in the future I will never going to this location again, nor will I deal with Safelite ever again. Interestingly enough, had he said it was a Safelite company rule, I would've complied, because I did have a mask with me. I went outside and sat simply because I was just disgusted by the fact that he misrepresented the order. Their response is both amusing and pathetic. read more

I had an unexpected crack in my windshield and worked with my insurance company to set up the appointment with Safelite. From the time I set up my appointment to the time I picked up my car, the service was impeccable! I was notified via text (opt-in option) about the process and could also check directly via the link in the email that was provided, which was reassuring. The service was completed sooner than the estimated time frame and that was another bonus. The staff was friendly and great both times I stopped in. Extremely frustrated with safelite. I called on 11/14 at 7am to schedule an appointment since my windshield had just been ruined. I double checked to make sure that my glass was in stock i was assured it was. Half an hour later o get a call from the actual location saying they dont have my glass so i reschedule for 11/15. At 8am on 11/15 i get a call saying unless i find a garage space or come to them they cant do it because ita raining (nothing had previously been mentioned to me about work not being able to be completed in rain) So i tell them ill just come in or ill call of i find a garage space (i work in a warehouse park so multiple garages) i call back no one answers so i call the 1800number. I tell them that i found a garage space and just come to me because i cant leave work for 2ish hours. I get a call an hour later from the technician asking why im not at the shop.... i reiterate that they are coming to me because i found a garage space. He finally comes to fix my windshield. After he leavea i get in my car to find a ton of sealant pieces with glue on my steering wheel, dashboard and seats. AND my car now wont start because my lights and doors were left open while the windshield was being changed.. i paid $309 for this headache and when I spoke to the manager all he could say is that it was unfortunate and if i needed anything else to call him.... never again. read more

Had to have my windshield replaced and was required to visit location because of the safety system in my vehicle requiring it to be recalibrated after the new windshield was installed. I arrived at my appointment time and given estimated wait time of 2 hrs. I came back 2 hours later and was told the guy was out with their recalibration equipment and I could wait another "hour or so" or come back. I decided to wait, after driving home, I noticed that my entire safety system wasn't working. I called and they said I could come in the next day (at anytime- no appointment given) to have it corrected. It took about another 2 hours waiting. During both times, there was very poor communication, no updates were given, nobody checked in to tell me what was going on with my car. During the second visit, within an hour I saw the same employee smoking near the garage door entrance. It seemed unprofessional to me to be smoking near customer vehicles that were in the garage and like a lot of time wasted when waiting customers could have received some sort of communication about the status of their car. read more

DONT GET SCAMMED The slogan should be: "Safelite Repair, Safelite Ripoff" They "repair" it, it fails and you get to pay them again to replace it. They charge double what it really costs as well. Short version: Repair failed in under 48 hours. They wanted to charge me $250 to replace it. There is ZERO guarantee. They will "repair" your chip or crack, it will fail after they make it bigger and then they'll charge you double what other places will charge you to replace it. Details: I brought the car in with a small finger nail width crack. They said that rarely it might grow due to the repair, but that's normal. I said ok. - While I was waiting, there were several customers waiting and no one to man the desk. The customer had to go into the shop himself in order to get someone to help him. - One of the two gentlemen was explaining to the customer that they get windshields and grind off the manufacturer logo etc??? I was kind of curious as to why you'd be telling people that. Seems odd. - A woman comes in and asks for a quote for a crack, (After other customers got someone out of the shop) they ask what her insurance is, she says STATE FARM they tell her the repair costs $50!! Thats like a third of what a new windshield costs! - I get my car back, and now the crack is ~4 inches in size (much larger). The center chip was filled but the now larger cracks on either side looked the same. I asked the guy "Is that ok? It doesnt look filled." Im not the professional here so when he tells me "Yea it's sealed now, it's guaranteed not to crack any larger." I said ok np. -The repair was SAT at about 11am. Monday morning before work, I now have a 3 FOOT CRACK across my windshield. I call them to ask about what happens now, how could this be? - Not only did they tell me the work isnt covered at all, they told me I have to pay $250 for them to repair it again! I told them what I was told, "Yea it's sealed now, it's guaranteed not to crack any larger." They only said "Oh he shouldnt have told you that." - I spoke to one rep who said "Well we will take the cost you paid for the repair and deduct it from your new total." I filed through my insurance Progressive, so the repair was free. - She said "Oh if you paid nothing, and you went through your insurance then a new windshield will be covered also. They needed to transfer me to warranty claims. - The warranty claims people said the same thing again. "Oh, she shouldnt have told you that, she was confused this isn't that type of scenario etc etc." - After complaining about being told multiple times incorrect information, I just asked for a quote. My insurance whom I called first directed me to Safelite who quoted me ~$230 they proceeded to quote me $250! - I again complained that why does the cost change when I speak to a different person minutes later? They again explain that someone was misinformed and they for got to apply a discount etc etc. So after a "$60 discount" my price was $250! Who pays $310 for a normal windshield, its not a Ferrari!? - I explained to them, that nothing they have told me has been backed up. Pricing, Workmanship, Policies, NOTHING. I also explained that I have paid in the past ~$150 for a windshield albeit a different vehicle, but asking double that was far from reasonable. Thanked them for their time and ended the phone call. - I simply looked up another local shop, Aarons Auto Glass, 5 min away. The quote was $150+tax!!! No fees blah blah blah $166.xx all done in about 40 min. Just like i thought it was right about $150. Work was good, people were ready to handle customers and not MIA, done in about the same amount of time. For half the cost. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND SAFE LITE. read more
