SAFELITE IT UNRESPONSIVE TO INQUIRY: Unbeknownst to me, on July 17, 2020 the Safelite technician who told me that he was the H2 "Hummer windshield pro" at Safelite replaced my Hummer H2 windshield. He is probably the guy who removed my antenna to make room for the windshield and, placed it inside a couple radiator bracket prongs. I first noticed a week later that the antenna was missing and, figured a car wash got it. I ordered a new OEM antenna and paid $50.00. Last week, I found the original antenna. It was missing the factory "boot" at the base that covers the hole in the support where the antenna screws into the bracket. The boot puts my stock Hummer looking like the original. I emailed SAFELITE from its website last week and, sent it another email yesterday. SAFELITE HAS NOT RESPONDED to either emails. SAFELITE WILL NOT TAKE PHONE CALLS EITHER. I have an S63 AMG Mercedes that needs a windshield replaced due to rock impact and subsequent cracking. I opened a claim through my insurer and safelite called to inform me that my windshield was scheduled the next day. I spoke to the installer to make sure they had the correct OEM glass with infrared coating- I was informed that only the generic non coated glass was approved by insurance and if I wanted the "correct glass" (safelite language ironically) I would have to pay +$1k difference. I then spoke to my insurer and they had the correct glass approved 2 days later after speaking to Mercedes dealer. Unbelievably, Safelite called me this morning and wanted to know when they could come out and install the OEM windshield and that I owe $1k... At this point I would drive with no windshield vs. Using Safelite- the company is clearly focused on maximum $ per transaction regardless of what the correct solution is. Horrible installation job period damaged my vehicle in the tune of $4000 parts and labor. After my car was in The Body Shop to be repaired. It's an scam. That is how I feel based on my experience, based on results. The kind of job they played on my vehicle, and specially based on the words of the manager I talked to right after their "fix" failed miserably. They could care less about the fix. Instead, they were very much fixated on my deductible, the kind of insurance I had, and how much a new windshield would cost me based on my high deductible. I called them as my only option from my warranty. I was fine with it. The crack seemed pretty fixable. I was thinking this was a clear resin that penetrated the glass to mantain its integrity. At least that's how they make it sound on their commercials. But once the job was "finished " I was instead left with two glue marks. White in color and very low quality, it seems. I literally thought this technician just came to play arts & crafts on my car I swear. I called a supervisor for an explanation... What in the world? They tell me that's it. That's what they do. Straight glue. That's what I got. Its not resin. Its not clear. And it's not good quality. Less than a month later the crack is traveling. Their excuse for their horrible job is that they warn. In this words: "we told you it may not work " Can someone tell me what kind of mess is that? Who gets away with that? So, instead of making things better you absolutely feel this scam enter the 2nd phase: sell the glass! That's how is going to get fixed. They have no liability. They have not even a care. They got now a windshield purchase. They seem uoset when the deductible is not convenient for them to proceed smoothly. Instead of concentrating on the gorilla glue spots on my car, or the running travelling crack, he is blaming my deductible. Its actually one of the most sophisticated scams I've encountered. They know their low- tech, child-quality fix doesn't work. They know it. In fact they "warn" you that they know it. They absolutely think because they tell you that before the job there should be no guarantee of any kind. They don't back up their work. They are not proud of it. LOUIS IN MANAGEMENT, AND TIM-THE TECHNICIAN THAT WORKED ON MY CAR, DO NOT CARE ABOUT QUALITY OR CUSTOMER SERVICE. ***I am extremely suspicious of how Safelite may be using lower quality windshields for replacement, and possibly refurbished glass. I will be reporting this experience to my insurer and recommending to everyone I know to NOT come here.*** I have come here more than several times for auto glass repair in the past without issue. However, this prior experience will be the LAST TIME I ever use this service. It took Tim, who is a Boomer, 4 hours to replace the windshield on my Acura. After all of that waiting, he didn't do as much as apologize. I am super patient and okay with waiting-that is, unless the quality of the work is shoddy. What happened next confirmed that Tim's work was either substandard, or he replaced my windshield with lesser quality glass... I noticed that soon after this job, the windshield was getting dirty very easily, even while Phoenix was not experiencing any abnormal weather conditions. I was also not driving through construction sites, nor was I letting casual water, like sprinklers, get on the windshield of the car. After taking this Acura through a standard car wash a week later, the windshield was DIRTIER than it was before it went in....this is a quality car wash that I have used hundreds of times near 16th Street and Camelback. I immediately called Safelite about this experience. They said that I had to drive down to Scottsdale to have them inspect the car. Upon spending a Saturday morning going down and having them inspect the car, they refused to replace the glass. Keep in mind I had the glass replaced 2 weeks ago! They could have warrantied the glass and replaced it easily but Louis REFUSED! So the warranty they give you is worthless! This is the absolute worst experience I have EVER had related to glass repair. Living in the valley, I have had glass replaced and repaired many times. I will NEVER give them my business again. Again, after speaking with both Louis and Tim in person, I will be replicating this experience in any other reviews that I can and name them, as well as report this experience to my insurance company. My tech today was awesome. His name is Arizona. He is just as cool as his name would lead you to believe. We had a great conversation while he went about his business. I had my windshield replaced a while ago so here is my story. I called up my insurance and they set me up with Safelite to get my windshield replaced. Tech came and installing the windshield while I was at work. I went to my car and noticed there were glass shards all over my car along with chunks of glass in the front of my dash. As I drove home I noticed my hood was shaking near the windshield. I called Safelite up again and the tech came and cleaned out the glass shards along with the chunks of glass, however, while doing it he accidentally scratched my dash. I did call safelight and they said for me to bring the car down to their facility in a few days to see the scratches on my dash and see about on fixing them. A few days before I brought the car in I began to investigate why my hood was shaking. When I looked under my hood there was a thick layer of glass all near the weather gutters under the wipers. I also noticed the weather strip that is near the windshield was missing. After posting some questions online it turned out to be the reason why my hood was shaking; it was due to the missing weatherstrip. Finally, the day came where I brought my car in. They inspected the scratches along with the weatherstrip and said someone will be calling me in a few days about the situation. A few days went by and no one called. I gave them a callback and they gave me another date to bring the car in and said they will get the weatherstrip. I get a call a day or two later where I was informed that Lexus does not offer that part due to the age of my car and they will try to sort it out later. Since I was fearing it would not be fixed I asked them if I went to the junkyard to get that part, will they be willing to pay for it. They said yes, as long as I showed them the receipts. So I went that day to the junkyard to get the clips and weatherstrip. So finally the day came to get my car fixed from them. I dropped my car off and waited for about an hour or two. They replaced my windshield again due to a new rock chip that formed. They also did not charge me for it, because of all the for trouble I have had to go through. Plus they said it would be easier for the dash guy to repair the dash with the windshield off. The guy who repaired my dash did an awesome job and looks like nothing ever happened. So after a span of about 3 weeks the new windshield was put on, the dash was restored, the weatherstrip was installed and everything appeared to be fine. About a few months after the repair if I use the windshield defroster, glass shards still come out, but other than that the shaking of the hood stopped. The manager of the store said they would send me a check within a week to pay for the weatherstrip however that check never came. After calling the main corporate line and told them my situation they sent a check to me within a few days. So I will give +1 Star for repairing the dash +1 Star for installing a new windshield for free +1 Paying for all the damage's on the car read more

When you are driving on the freeway and a rock decides to make a date with destiny using your windshield, you call Safelite AutoGlass. The side of my windshield had a sizable spiderweb pattern of cracks running through it, a glass Rorschach test of sorts devised by a rock that decided to escape from the confines of gravity to say hello to my little car. We called and scheduled a date to get my busted windshield replaced. Safelite offers a mobile service which is nice since they can replace your windshield at your house, at work, wherever your heart desires essentially. We were given a wide time block range (12-5) but then on the day of service they called us with a narrower 2 hour time range from 2-4 P.M. At 1:50 I got a text saying that my tech was on his way with a photo image, and he was here promptly at 2. Very nice! My service tech was Rodrigo and he was very thorough, efficient, friendly and nice. After he replaced my windshield he even tried to clean up some of the scruffs from the rock skidding off my hood and he vacuumed my floor mats so they were sparkling clean. The whole process took maybe 40-45 minutes, not bad! Based on the excellent service and prompt arrival time, I highly recommend! read more

Set up replacement windshield through my insurance. They said if I owed anything, the tech would tell me after service. Tech said nothing about a bill, so I assumed insurance covered it all. Next day I received a call saying insurance didn't cover it and I owed $350. I informed them that I wanted to reach out to my insurance to confirm prior to paying, and the rep said ok. I called 2 business days after service to pay the bill only to find out they had sent me to collections. I asked to speak with any of the 3 managers they have, and was told they were too busy and would call me back later that day or the next day. Never heard from any of them. My drivers window was crack so the Safelite technician changed out the window; however, he wasn't able to get the door back open once he discovered the door handle was not working properly. I'm sure this sounds like a negative review but what he and the Safelite AutoGlass staff did next was impressive. The technician stayed with my car until I got off work. We took the car over to their office where their mechanics could easily work to rectify the issue with the door handle. They rented me a car until the problem was fixed and the technicians followed up with me over the next few days. The mechanics were able to fix the problem with no damage to my car. The staff was very friendly and apologized fa number of times for the issue. Things happen everyday that are unexpected but this staff handled this one very courteously and professionally. read more

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Had to wait 14 Days for an appointment, which given the circumstances is ok, not great but ok. Technician showed up started on glass finished and told my wife we were good to Go. I came home and immediately noticed the Optics Cover behind the rear view mirror was asque. The cover does not align with glass paint to protect optics, and looks funny from the front. Took the Vehicle, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland on the highway, at 70 miles an hour a HORRIBLE vibrating noise started emitting from the Windshield area. At 80 you could not hear the Stereo, that's how bad it was. Spent two hours of my time dealing with Customer service who could not reach the shop manager and wanted me to go online and book a warranty Call Myself. Informed her I would not do that and she needed to continue to call him. After several attempts she said she would send an email. I asked her to make sure the Manager understood that it could not be driven this way. 24 hours later , NO response. Called the Customer service line which now, all of a sudden has a 5 minute message basically informing me that " due to Covid" Online Appointments only, NO service agents available. BS! After 15 minutes of Deep internet research found a Help Line, Got through, ahhh, NO notes on my Instal problem. Agent, once again wanted me to go online and make appointment. Negative! I persisted in wanting to talk to a Manager at the Shop, or a Corporate Representative. The Agent got ahold of the Manager "tim" but he refused to talk to me. He told her to just have me bring the Car into his Shop. NEGATIVE his shop is 65 miles away, I have Cancer, I cant just hang out at their shop. And why am I Driving 110 Miles round trip on my Gas and my time? She Called him back, he said he would look at schedule and call me, He never did. Started the process again, Manger still refused to talk to me, said he would call within a couple of hours, Never did. Started process again, was told by Agent I was on Schedule for the next Day. Manger never did call me. Following day Technician showed had NO idea what was going on. Informed him that WE found the Source of Vibration coming from Windshield wiper pin caps. There was debris from the install in them and they would not snap shut, Doesn't appear, former tech even checked them or attempted to shut them. New Tech Looked at Optics Cover and tried to tell me, That's just the way it ends up. BS! I let him Know that was Unacceptable, He pushed it, slapped it, tried to File it down and even brought out the Good old Duct tape. When he was done it was Basically where the First Tech had put it Which ment with Vibration it would walk further out of Alignment.Once Again, I told him, call a manager, call the army, call someone because this is unacceptable. He then removed my Components and installed them on A new Glass in his Truck. It was not perfectly Aligned But it was Better than mine. I could have had him install it, but would you want someone installing something that he has no Faith in? Not to mention but now he is pissed because he thinks i'm going to make him Instal it. Instead I left it on Him. So your telling me this is the Best i'm going to get? Yep. Alrighty Then, you have a good Day! Both Technicians Uniforms were thrashed, and they Both looked Dehydrated, I did offer them Water. I in NO way Blame the Technicians who came. They are being WAY over extended on their Capabilities, and did I mention it is 115 Degrees here. Heat can make you crazy, especially working 14 hours for the MAN. I would originally give a four but after the last visit I am extremely ticked off. We had Safelite through insurance install a new windshield all went great but a month later the rain sensor fell off and needed a repair. That took some effort to get them out but they did and fixed in a few minutes. That is where they would get a four. Now I did get a chip so immediately set up an appointment to repair. Got a date, time and they verified insurance. I waited for 6 hours covering the 5 hour window they gave me and no one showed. We called the next day and they could not find we had an appointment. We gave them the order number from my email, told them I received a text as a reminder the day before and they found it. She said they deleted the appointment. We asked why. She said they do not do chip fixes anymore so why did that not come up during the appointment effort. Then she said someone deleted my appointment. We asked why they did not call us and explain the situation, they just deleted our appointment and left us hanging. Frankly, I could train my grandchildren a lot better to do that job. I had to schedule a windshield repair over a week in advance under insurance policy. I received numerous reminders 'the technician is going to show up with a smile and a thumbs up', your technician will text you when they're on their way, etc. PROMISE BROKEN. The day of the appointment - no technician, no text, I get a call while I'm on a business call and upon calling back I find out the technician is overwhelmed with work and cannot keep the appointment. I'm told the office will call to reschedule. PROMISE BROKEN. No call from the office, the repair is cancelled and I get the option to schedule another week in advance. Rescheduled with another auto glass company at the direction of the insurer. Adjuster/estimator is on site today, repair will be tomorrow. That's service. read more

Recently called my insurance company to get a cracked windshield replaced and they sent out Safelite. The tech had no clue as to what he was doing and a tech from another company that happened to be in the parking lot had to help him out. After several hours he managed to replace the windshield. We are still finding broken glass everywhere from him shattering the glass to remove the old windshield. While driving the car one of the pieces of trim flew off from not being properly removed and reinstalled. The trim and retainers were fairly new as they were recently replaced with factory parts. The windshield is installed crooked and when driving in the rain water pours down above the driver's side. This has caused the backing to the headliner to become saturated and the headliner is now stained. I contacted Safelite and was told to call my insurance company so now I get to put in a claim for the first time in my 38 years of being insured. read more

I had safelite replace windshield in my SUV 6 months ago. Because of adaptive cruise, radar etc on the vehicle, I have a rider on my insurance to cover only OEM glass as after-market glass cannot be calibrated correctly. First time around, no problems. Got another freeway crack a few weeks ago and organized another replacement last Thursday. Technician shows up a dealer where vehicle is due to recalibration requirements, they bring aftermarket glass. I get a call 8 am about this from the tech who is at the dealer who tells me they will get the OEM ASAP. I never hear back from them and am stuck with a loaner car as mine is still at shop waiting for glass. This morning (Saturday) when I get a text from Safelite cancelling the appointment and replacement......WTF? I call in to speak with someone to find out whats going on and am told they're waiting for approval from the insurance company......BS!...they never called or did anything about it all day Friday. Last week I had my Mini Cooper windshield replaced. They did NOT inform me that I would not get the exact windshield that I had. Now I have to take the car to a tinting place to put back the visor tinting that they did not do. They also forgot to put back the rear view mirror and had to come back as the car was not drivable and I had to take a friend to the hospital. So now I have to wait a week to bring the car in for tinting. I wish Geico would use another glass company as this has been a very stressful situation for me and it's not over yet. AVOID! Entering week five with no resolution in sight. Cracked windshield... used safelite via insurance (the "easy" option). First person came out with wrong windshield. Advised someone would call me back. Wait several days, call and told parts on order but would be called back. Wait another week, call and told parts still on order.. rep cant get through to warehouse, advised I would be called by end of day. After continuing the streak of them never following through, I call back two days later. Now I am told parts need to be approved by insurance... now at three weeks and first i have heard of this (common car, no customizations). Advised I would be called back. After not hearing from them for a week.. I just book an appointment. Guy comes out and replaces window.... Go to drive later and notice giant 12 inch plus cloudy area in middle of driver view. Thought they left it dirty. nope, bad glass. Drove to service center. they confirmed glass warrantee issue. Have to wait a week for new glue to dry. Why did they install with such a large obvious defect? No good answer given. So now get a call from tech scheduled to come out this morning. Part(s) not approved... gave me a number to call. Five weeks and safelite still cant install a windshield. Now i have to call them again (not opened yet.. so time to post this). TLDR - avoid avoid avoid Safelite... believe the bad reviews waiting for generic non committal PR yelp response like all other bad reviews. I'll update this as things happen (or don't happen) UPDATE (9/12/21): spoke to Brenda on 9/10, early in the morning. She advised part was approved but still waiting for delivery (different story from tech who called to cancel appt). Asked how long... She stated she called parts person Courtney at local facility and left a message and that I would be called back. Now Sunday morning... no communications received. Went online and booked an appointment for Wed afternoon (12 days after they knew they needed the parts). UPDATE (9/15/21): tech Damien came out. He was just helping out (he mentioned this 3 times). He asked what the problem was and proceeded to rub the glass for a minute. I advised it fogginess wasn't going rub off and this was checked out when I drove it to the Elwood facility. He indicated they didn't notate anything. He advised the trim and windshield were not in stock (12 days ago when I was at the Elwood facility they said they had 3 windshields on hand). I expressed frustration about this dragging on for weeks and getting different info from every safelite person I talk to. He indicated someone would call me back.
