Safelite is no longer my first choice when repairing a windshield. The first appointment was set up with this company a week ago, and I took a day of vacation so they could come out to my place and replace the windshield. I received an email confirmation the night before stating who the person was that was coming out and when the appointment was going to be. Next day 30 minutes before the end of their 4 hour window they called to say they didn't have the special parts to install and would have to order. They could not provide a reason why they were not prepared for the appointment and offered nothing but apathy when I called them on the phone upset. Today magically the second time, the tech was out within the first 45 minutes of the appointment window. He was friendly, polite, and explained why it needed the special parts. He also was finished within a reasonable amount of time. I have yet to see how the workmanship is on the repair, but considering how rude the company was the first time and offered nothing for wasting my paid vacation day, I'm going to the competition next time, and reporting the experience to my insurance. read more

Safelite, My experience with your Safelite repair representative felt like I walked into to a used car lot and was approached by a sales representative that sees an easy target. From the moment I answered his phone call he was short and to the point, not friendly. After he told me his name, I told him the keys where inside the car. He told me I need to come outside in a way that made me feel I had inconvenienced him or done something wrong. He then began giving instructions like I was a high school student (I am 58). I had turned the car around in the driveway the night before to allow him to get to the windshield easier from the street, but he said that he could not face the sun and I needed to turn the car around (makes sense). It was not the request to turn the car around, but the dry instruction that made me feel like I was inconveniencing him. He then saw a shady area down the road and asked if I could move the car there and of course I said absolutely. He said he would drive over to the spot and I could park behind him in the shade. It was not insulting, but I felt like his approach to customer service was to get paid by the Insurance company. At this point, I felt uncomfortable and wished I had an alternative company to fix a chip. Then comes the incredibly legal portion of his non personable approach in which he began explaining that as he fixed the incredibly small chip (about 1/8 inch), that he will be utilizing equipment that could break the glass further. In his unfriendly, controlled and legal explanation he stated that I would be responsible for any additional break that he might create and that I would also be responsible for any cost if the windshield must be replaced due to his repair work. He finished it off with the statement "I need to make sure we are on the same page before I can begin". I walked away feeling like there was a 50/50 chance he would break my windshield to increase the opportunity to charge me for a full windshield replacement. I did appreciate that he seemed that he did not want to get anywhere near me because my wife has Muscular Dystrophy and I am 58, both susceptible to Covid-19 issues if we were to acquire the disease. Finally, a few minutes later, he called me to tell me he had completed his repair. This is where he tried to earn favor for his upcoming survey by attempting to sound like he cared. I asked a question about warranty which he answered. The warranty explanation was that safelite would pay Insurance company back the $60 in payment and I would be responsible for my windshield replacement cost if I do not have windshield coverage or a deductible that must be paid (BASICALLY THERE IS NO WARRANTY AT ALL). Then he went over his closing statements, which sounded like he had just memorized them to make sure he shared all the key points, and ended with the obvious "you will receive a survey and I hope I have earned a 10 out of 10, do I have any further questions?" I said no and that I would fill out survey and drove my car back to the driveway. read more

Was pretty disappointed with the service. Didn't show up for the first appointment. Then came half a hour before I had to leave work to replace my windshield. Talked to the manager he then blamed it on the insurance. He could have simply apologized for not showing up on time and given a discount for the new windshield but instead continued to blame it one insurance. From the photo you can see that the crack starts from where they place the windshield wouldn't recommend. My car had to be TOTALED out due to a faulty windshield replacement by Safelite two years ago. Water had been slowly leaking into my electrical system and flooring but it was not recognized until this year's wet winter and my car happening to be outside more than usual and not in my garage. Safelite inspected my vehicle, took responsibility for the faulty repair vowed to fix it, and put me in a rental. They then jerked me around for over five weeks. At week one, they told me they were planning to move my car to a collision center without my permission so they could fix it cheaper. I told them no and that the electrical damage needed to be addressed at the dealer which is where it was. They said they had to get permission to have dealer fix it. A week later they said they had permission and repairs should start the next day as soon as they gave dealer permission. Nothing happened so I reached out to local district manager and store manager. They said they would take care of this as if I was their wife and it was their car. (They must not care much for their wives). I was a fool and believed them. Anyway, I finally called corporate after another week or so of nothing happening and corporate was shocked by my experience and vowed to help me and I stated I was concerned as my car had been sitting outside at this point for six weeks under a tarp all taken apart while it rained. Was there more mold and damage? They asked to send out another investigator to look into it more. That guy showed up the next morning and said it was no longer Safelites fault. They blamed it on my car maker and showed a recall notice that occurred before my car was even produced! I have video proof of the water going in my car when the windshield is sprayed with a hose, pictures of rusted car parts and proof they took responsibility. My insurance company took over and immediately totaled out the car and are now going after Safelite but this has been a nightmare. When they took responsibility, they told me I was lucky I used them because they stand behind their work and would take care of this because they are a large company. I will never look at a windshield replacement in the same way again and will be so careful who I choose. My car was a nice GMC Acadia that I had just paid off and had planned to drive for several more years. Because the mileage was high, it just wasn't worth repairing and the prognosis on damage that extensive in the electrical system, flooring that went back to the third row and then it sitting for six weeks outside under a tarp while there was a lot of rain and moisture while Safelite jerked us around that may have made the situation worse led to it being evaluated and deemed a total loss. Use them at your own risk. You can read this and think it won't happen to you but it did happen to us and the local management and corporate level did not stand behind their work and went back on their word after communicating to our dealer, us and our insurance company that they were responsible. read more

I was recommended Safelite through Geico, so I used them. When the technician arrived he said it was too hot to have the resin set properly (IT IS JULY IN PHOENIX OF COURSE IT'S HOT) but he filled it and said it was good to go. Fast forward one month and now the crack is across my whole windshield and they told me it was $350 to replace. If it had been done right the first time this could have been avoided. Replaced my back window over a year ago. they broke a clip need trim replaced they wanna charge me for a whole new back window I spent hour and a half trying to talk to a human being and their computer operator would never connect me to somebody when I finally talk to somebody they disregard everything I said transferring me to a different department then they Give me a phone number to my Geico insurance and said they can't help me I need to go to the insurance company . I had a warranty call today and the tech showed up and deemed it not a warranty. This would of been all fine, but this was all discussed on the phone and we had options to replace, repair, or use a claim. The problem we have is once on site they decided to walk back the commitment and blame pre existing damage so a claim would allowed them to be paid. Hello, I had a warranty replacement of a windshield 10/29/19 at my residence. After a rain, 2 inches of water accumulated in the car. I dried out the car, garaged it, and took it out of service. Several more appointments did not fix the leaks, and resulted in additional damage to the car. Ultimately a critical car part was lost by Safelite. Stonewalling and delays by Safelite lasted until about 02/19/20 when a replacement part was finally delivered to me. I then completed the repairs myself by installing the replacement part, repairing the Safelite caused leaks and correcting the other less significant damage done by Safelite to my car. False advertising. Their commercials say they will come to you. Not anymore they won't. I have a 2019 car and they said I have to bring it to them for calibration and it cannot be done in the field. I set up an appointment for 8am with the plan to pick it up at noon. The scheduler didn't tell me it was a same day appointment which means they can complete it any time during the day. So guess what? It was done at the very end of the day of course. Overall I think they do good work but I don't appreciate the lack of communication and the false advertising. Safelite has a great advertising agency, that just isn't backed up by quality service. With the amount of commercials I had seen before getting my windshield replaced, I figured this would be the most legit place to repair my windshield. BOY, WAS I WRONG. After a friend dropped me off in front of the door of the Elwood location, I had already noticed that the very front portion of my hood had been dented by someone working on the vehicle. Also, the knob that controls the function of the headlights was now loose, and wiggled in and out. I understand stuff like this can happen, so I went inside and reported the damage to the repairman. After being reassured that a repairman would be called out to my location to fix the dents, I'm sitting two weeks out with no type of phone call or email whatsoever. I called the office to explain my frustration, and Joshua was able to tell me that he was busy and I would be notified soon. ANOTHER whole week goes by, and yet, no phone call to me. I call back to the office, very frustrated, and finally the next day my hood get completed. This is where I wish I would have never involved myself with Safelite again. Feeling wronged, I politely asked Josh for a refund for me having to wait so long for service. I am a driver, and my cars appearance has a lot to do with it. I received an email back stating that a $75 check is being mailed to me, and it may take up to 7 days. Of course, another two weeks passes by... I call again, very frustrated. They said it was returned, and sending out another check THAT day.. ANOTHER two weeks goes by...still no check. NOW I'm furious. I've spent way too many hours on the phone trying to get them to hold up to the promises they made. I call back,a sking for a full refund now. It being granted, I was told it would be overnighted to me and here no later than Friday...still no check... Moral of the story guys, Safelite does absolutely nothing to make their customers satisfied. I was "bugging" them more than anything it felt like. I bet you they wished I had just not said anything and went along with my day. It's costed me time and money to have to deal with Safelite's BS. I've honestly NEVER been so dissatisfied with a business in my life. We're currently waiting for the refund to go back to the card it was purchased with, so we'll see what happens in another 3-5 business days. Oh and by the way.. They sent us reminders daily starting two days before service, and all the way up to the morning of service for an appointment time from 11:30 am to 4:00pm. By 3:30pm, still no call from Safelite. When my daughter called to determine when they would be arriving, she was told "oh, sorry, that should have been cancelled". Please reschedule. If a company is going to waste 4.5 hours of my day waiting for them, they better have a better response than, "oh sorry". How about, "that was completely our mistake". My car had a cracked windshield. Safelite came and replaced it on December 31st. One week later I'm sitting at a traffic light and all of a sudden the windshield just split about 2 feet from the bottom up to about half the center of the windshield. Called up Safelite and they can't come out until next week, and even if they do if they find it a "road hazard" they will not replace it even though it was JUST replaced 7 days ago. Horrible company. Window shattered. Needed replacement. No one could do it the Tuesday afternoon things went to shite for my vehicle. Called at least 10 local places: nobody could do it for under $200 and those who could were available starting Thursday. I couldn't wait two days... I called Safelite per colleague recommendation. They were courteous over the phone and when I told them the quote they gave me was higher than our local shops...and kindly asked if they could match the average price I was quoted in AZ...they did. I stressed I needed the car ready by noon the following day and they guaranteed the work order would say between 8am-12pm. As I hung up, I felt good about my decision. And then I got onto Yelp and read the only review here on Safelite. With massive trepidation, I called up Safelite. They really were the only ones who could do my window within 12 hours, so I decided I would give talking to them a go. The CSR who answered bravely took me on when I said, "I've just made an appointment to have my window done through you guys, and afterwards came across some really negative reviews on the internet. Could you help me feel better about my decision?" Understandably a bit guarded and delicate, this CSR was nevertheless professional. I asked about OEM glass. They said they didn't use manufacturer-direct glass (which is more expensive and has to obviously come from the maker) and that they manufactured their own. However, she stressed that all glass used in vehicles has to meet federal standards otherwise it can't be sold. I asked about the installation, the cleaning, the quality of workmanship: she assured me that the repairman would do a good job, certainly include clips, and that the work and glass is guaranteed for life. If I had any problem, I just need to call and they will fix it. I stressed that the following day I had an appointment I had to attend and needed the car by noon. She gave me a number to call in the AM to verify who was coming and when, but again guaranteed all work would be completed by the time specified. There really was no other choice for me, aside from letting my car sit vulnerable and with missing glass for two nights. So I held my breath and kept the appointment. At 8am the next morning, I got ready to call Safelite to see what time they really were coming...9am...9:30am...but I was too late. My phone started ringing just after 8am: "Hi this is Alan and I wanted to let you know I'm on my way. I'll call as I get closer." Holy shit. Things were actually going according to plan. Alan arrived at my workplace soon afterwards, as friendly as could be. He told me he would definitely been done by noon and would call me when I could come down. Feeling better already, I went back to my office and carried on. An hour later, I was wondering if Alan was done yet. My coworker came up to me and said that Alan was sitting in his car downstairs. Because he was waiting for another piece of glass to be delivered. Because the one he came with didn't fit as well as he'd wanted it to. So he requested another be sent over. Holy effin-a. I nearly shat and fell over backwards. And when my car was finally ready...around 11am and ahead of schedule...I came down to find Alan had washed my windows and done a thorough vacuuming job in the meantime. I know Safelite's a massive company and undoubtedly there are varying experiences. But mine (including my coworker who had his window done the same day) was very good. And thank god, because the last thing one needs to top off horrendous luck is an administrative nightmare with repairs.
