My garage spring randomly broke over the memorial day weekend. I didn't realize it until about 7PM when I sent out a quote to a bunch of vendors on Yelp. Safety Garage Door (and many others) replied within minutes, but the price and reviews of this one gave me confidence to move forward. It ended up costing $450 (I was initially told $300+) for 2 springs, but I guess we went with the higher end springs or something. The technician out there was mumbling a bit and didn't speak the best English but I just went along with it. Also, I heard from neighbors nearby that our builders used mismatched springs to begin with so I was already expecting that we would need longer springs. I think he offered me two options one with a lower cycle count and one with higher, I just chose the higher for a better peace of mind. In any case, he replaced my springs within 20 minutes, so he was out of there by 8:40PM on the Sunday evening before a 3 day weekend. I didn't feel that I was charged an extra price for the holiday/late night service, so I appreciated that. read more

UPDATE- Technician finally arrived at 11:24 pm despite the tracker estimating arrival at 11:54pm. Technician was very quick to diagnose and provide options, and got to work right away. Khalid was a great technician (5 out of 5 stars for service), but ultimately giving 3 stars for the business because of the lack of a way to contact them again. The phone number originally used to make the appointment didn't work, and then a different number was listed on the tracker website which also didn't work. I ORIGINAL- Service requested via phone call at 10:21pm, and a technician was scheduled to arrive at the home between 10:30-11:30pm and a status tracker provided via text for an estimated arrival time of 11:08pm. As I continued to check on the tracker, the estimated arrival time kept getting delayed, from 11:08 to 11:30 to 11:45 to currently 11:54pm. I tried calling and texting Safety Garage Door to follow up since there shouldn't be traffic at this time of night, but despite being advertised as a 24/7 business, the line keeps hanging up on me. Currently would not recommend this business. Will update as necessary, if a technician even arrives at this point. read more

The wire track of our garage somehow got disconnected from the track, I ended up looking on Yelp to find someone who can come asap. Safety garage was one of the most responsive to get back to me and efficient with getting someone to my house quickly. I had a weird issue where the garage door wouldn't open (due to tension springs wearing out on the torsion rod), and after much troubleshooting myself I called for help. The customer service was prompt in response, and time estimate for a technician to arrive. Ammar came promptly and immediately recognized what had happened given the complicated nature of the issue. He showed what had gone wrong, explained in detail how the wear and tear of various parts might have happened (replacing the parts where necessary), gave an accurate estimate, as well as any maintenance on parts required going forward. What struck me most was how efficient, precise and professional in execution he was! I recently got my garage door opener replaced and Sharif from Safety garage door did excellent work (After two bad experiences from different installers on the same day earlier): First installer came to my home around 2pm. After coming to my home, the installer said I have to pay directly first to him, to install the garage door opener I bought in Lowes. I told him I already bought and paid for installation to Lowe's. Then I called Lowe's customer service and spoke to customer service being on the speaker phone with that installer, for 45+ minutes. However insisting that I have to pay him directly, the installer didn't install the opener and left. Then Lowes customer service offered me to call another local installer and that lowes will reimburse me for the installation. However me being me, I wanted to give the same installation service another chance. This time I told them that I will pay the installer directly and they quoted $200. Then they sent a 3rd party installer. He called me while on the way to my home and asked me if it is 2 car or 1 car garage. I said 2 car garage then he said cost is $250. (They did not ask me this question on the phone). I said "ok I will pay $250. Come over". After he came to my house, (I already removed my 15+ year old craftsman garage door opener which stopped working) looking at the chamberlain b6753t I bought from Lowe's he said the railing/belt could be long and he wanted to use the old belt on my old craftsman door opener (instead of cutting the new belt to the right size). Then he acted like he is assembling the new opener rail pieces and it turned out that it is longer and he does not have tools to cut it right size. Then he told me he has a door opener in his truck that he would sell to me and told me to return chamberlain opener I bought at Lowe's. I replied I won't return and he left. (Also while installing he opened the garage door and whole closing it he pushed it hard it landed on the old rail which is on the way. And my garage door was bent at that spot. This is ridiculous he could have easily been gentle) Overall it was a very unprofessional and bad experience. By this time it is almost 7pm. Then by checking on yelp, I called "safety garage door" and they arranged an installer to come to my home @8pm for $250. Installer's name is sharif. He is excellent. He said he had to cut the rail and costs additional $75. So total is $325 (attached the invoice from safety garage door). I said it is ok. It was a hard and professional work and $75 extra is well worth it. Sheriff did a great and professional work by installing it by 9pm. He knew what he was doing; he is an expert garage door opener installer. (I tipped him $35 from my pocket for doing great work at such a late hour. He in fact told me he lives in union city and already went home for the day but drove back to my house in San Jose to install the opener on his bosses request) I will call safety garage door for any of my future garage door repairs or suggest to my firends. read more
