I went to Sousa's showroom and tentatively picked out a Garage Door. I told them that my wife would come down and confirm my choice. When she arrived there at 3:15. Joe Souza told her that they couldn't find my file and the showroom was closed? I went back a again and the door was locked. I knocked on the door, Joe Souza answered. He could not find my file. When I asked Joe what time they closed he replied 3:30 PM. I said the door and the website says you close at four 4 p.m. He replied well we want to go home too. Sousa's was recommended to me by a family member who's friend had had a good experience with them for a whole garage door replacement. I needed a much more modest service which was to replace our existing, shockingly loud garage door operator for our two-car-wide garage door. It was loud enough to wake up the deepest of sleepers, should, heaven forbid, someone need to open the garage while someone is sleeping in the room above. To make a long story short, they did a great job. Quoted me a price over the phone for overhead belt drive (I think $1000 all in), and another for wall mount ($1100 all in). (Regarding pricing: given all the little details one needs to get right and the relatively high cost of parts ($500 for wall mount opener) I considered this pricing a bargain as it would've taken me hours to set up everything just right.) Anyway, they said that both openers would be much quieter than the existing one. I didn't want to take any chances and went with the wall mount. Which also freed up considerable access room to our over-car storage in the garage. Scheduled the work for maybe a few business days into the future, and did an orderly, perfect looking installation. We did notice that over the first couple weeks the garage door would detect an obstruction or resistance on opening or closing so we called them and they didn't even slightly argue - they just sent a senior tech over to adjust it. And now it's been perfect for months. And it is unbelievably quiet, as in you'll need to train your brain to recognize the sound of it opening or closing compared to the other random sounds you might hear from the street. read more

We wanted barn style garage doors, which were difficult to find. Sousa did a great job making doors look like we wanted and were easy to work with, coming up to Marin at least 3 times to make sure everything was perfect. The doors are sturdy and look great. Just had our broken garage door replaced. Sousa was the last company we got a bid from and they were the most reasonably priced business. I had originally decided to go with a different brand, but the rep said that particular model had caused problems in a past and they wouldn't recommend it. He gave me 2 choices, one exactly what I thought I wanted, but cost $1300 more than the cheaper brand which was steel painted to look like wood, which I had also been wanting. I went to the showroom to see door samples up close and placed the order. A few weeks later, to the day that I was told the door would be ready, I got a call and scheduled the install. The installation finished in under 4 hours. They took the old door and garage door opener away too. I wasn't here when they finished, but did notice that the "wood" panels didn't quite align up, so called to have someone come out. He fixed it in 1/2 hour and now the door looks great. Recently, there was a problem with one of the garage doors at a house we are renting. The property manager called a different company, and they came out and said we needed to replace all 3 motors for a cost of thousands of $$. That certainly didn't sound right so I called Sousa's. Rose handled the call and said Nelson would be out the next day. I'm thoroughly impressed with the service we just received from Carlos with Sousa's Garage Doors this morning. One of the springs on our garage door broke this morning. I sent a request for a quote around 7:00 a.m. Even though they don't open until 8:00 a.m., I was contacted about the repair immediately, and Carlos was at our house ready to do the work by 8:00 a.m. Not only did he replace the springs, but he replaced and repaired a couple of other items at no additional cost, and generally tuned it up. Frank Sousa was prompt in giving me a cost quote and soon after he took field measurements, I received a fabrication drawing to review and approve. When fabrication was completed, I was promptly notified and scheduled an installation date. Frank and his assistant Carlos, arrived right on time and completed the installation in two hours. They were very organized and methodical. They knew what they were doing. Frank is somewhat of a perfectionist and I even when I thought the job looked fine, he took the time to adjust the doors to make them "more" perfect.
