DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!! I filed a claim with them after a flatbed truck hit my car in front of my house. The driver was issued a ticket because he was not supposed to be driving it in a residential neighborhood, by neighbor saw it and came over and when I went outside he was an inch away from my vehicle trying to turn around on my st,, but safety insurance couldn't get the driver ins to pay and then didn't even send enough money to fix it after my deductible. If you do use this company and have Bryan Champagne as an agent find a new one!! He is lazy, never got back to me about closing my account (I had to call 2 months later and then he told me) and completely incompetent! Terrible company! Used the v.i.p., the process was smooth and fast. Staff was professional and helpful. Dropped off my vehicle at safety and the rental company met me there. Filled out the paperwork there and left with my rental. My vehicle was left there and The body shop took it from there. The repair was seamless you could not tell that it was hit. I was recently involved in a single car accident on X-Mass day. The agent from Safety Insurance first question was am I OK. Rosey was genuinely concerned for my well being. I felt like I wasn't just a claim number or policy holder. That I was a person who she personally could and wanted to help. And she did wonderfully. She walked me through the steps that I would need to get the car repaired and where to get a rent a car. When I went to the rent a car place they had all my information and I only had to sign the iPad. Not only are their rates very competitive but the level of service I received was remarkable. We submitted a claim in October 2023 for towing on a commercial vehicle, commercial policy. Our policy says we're covered through the "Safety Commercial Auto Enhancer Plus" endorsement. It is now Feb 2, 2024 and we have yet to get a status of this claim, after having called the claims person at least a half dozen times and sending email requests for update. Today I tried contacting her supervisor. His voicemail says he's out of the office and provides contact info for a manager who's voicemail says he's out of the office until Tuesday, Jan 23rd! (Today is Feb 2nd.) My opinion of Safety Insurance has completely soured due to this experience. I find it just utterly absurd on their part, to throw away their reputation for a crummy $100 tow claim. Come renewal time, we will be discussing finding another carrier with our agent. I've called no less than six times over the course of the last 2 1/2 weeks with no response. If you asked to be connected to a person, for sure you will get there voicemail. After many years of having them and paying a lot of money in there I had a late payment after they didn't post it to my policy charged $30 blamed me but they had no problem taking the money from me right away and I had a person rear end me push me into another car and the car took off well I got my policy this year it went from $1039 for the year to $2200 dollars for the year no thanks and the customer service very very much has something to be desired read more

If I could give these guys negative stars, I would. Stay far away from Safety. They are great as long as you don't have a claim. They are "cheap" for a reason and you really do get what you pay for. Slow response time to returning phone calls (if at all), rude personnel, and they try to find every loop hole possible in order to not cover your claim. After reviewing ALL of the reviews, I would heartily agree with ALL of the ONE Stars! Adjusters are the very worst in returning phone calls or answering e-mails. The Sr. Adjuster in Boston said she would review and get back to me "shortly." That was 16 days ago. Not sure what time zone she works by but it's not mine! Mine was a serious water loss due to a pipe crack. Lots of damage, and I can't even get a number figure from the adjusters..been going on since July 12th...and this is nearly September. Customer service is non-existent. "On vacation" "waiting for a transcription" ....never with a response. Not to worry....this customer won't be back to Safety or recommend them to ANY clients. Terrible service!. I was late on one payment so they combined 2 months and sent me a cancellation notice not to my house or email but only on there website. No phone call nothing. So when I paid them to catch up for being a week late they cashed my money and said it was not the total combined for the two months and cancelled me anyways!!. After over 15 years of being a loyal customer to Safety Insurance, paying many thousands in homeowner and car insurance premiums over close to decades, they dropped me as a customer after submitting two small claims on my homeowner's policy over a period of three years. What is insurance for if they drop you when you need to make a claim? Safety Insurance should be called "Get Smoked Insurance" because that's what happened to me and they will be hearing from me. I opened a policy with them. They told me I had to put down $800 to open the policy and it's going to be $383 a month. (I'm a 2nd year driver). I paid them once, just the 1st payment I paid them the $383, then I called Geico and they told me it would be $240 a month and no money down, just have it in the bank and they will deduct it on the due date. So, I gave Safety Insurance $800 + the $383 and after only just 1 payment they gave me a $310 refund check. Unacceptable!!! They took a total of $873 for just paying g them once before switching to Geico. They will be hearing from me after Labor Day. read more

Never do business with Safety Insurance. If you are on the road, pray that you are not hit by one of their drivers. Although Safety Insurance will move your claim along quickly, they will fail to keep you up to date on their personal action to one of your claims. I was actually hit by one of their drivers. The man swore he was an honest person and told me that I was in his blind spot. However, he was a liar and told the estimator false information. Although I cannot blame the clientele that Safety insurers entirely upon them, I can blame them for how they handle a claim from one of their non-drivers. I specifically asked the claim's adjuster if he needed pictures from the accident to expedite the claim on his side, in case there was a dispute. He told me we outsource that to an estimator, and it is their driver's word against mine on damages. So he would not need pictures. When I got an estimate I asked the claim's adjuster for next steps. He told me to take it to an auto body shop to get fix and we will repair the damages. I went to the auto body shop, they agreed with the estimate from the assessors, and that I would need to go through the insurance company for the rental. Upon double-checking the rental policy with Safety, I found that they said they where 50% liable. Complete non-sense. I then had to send them pictures of the skid marks, pictures of the sites and pictures of the damages with my story point-by-point. The claim's adjuster could have saved me a lot of time, by just telling me that they found me 50% liable, when I asked him about next steps. They are an insurance company who practices are dubious to say the least. If you get hit by one of their drivers make sure you call the police. If the police will not show-up take detailed pictures of the accident and car. Safety will do what ever they can, not to pay you. read more

Reading some of the other (negative) reviews gave me pause. But I must say, I had a positive experience with Safety Insurance. I have a Homeowner's policy with Safety and this past winter, the water pipes in my home froze while I was away. When I returned home, I discovered a water fall rushing from my upstairs bathroom, flowing through the upstairs floor, cascading into my downstairs kitchen. A water supply pipe to my upstairs bath had burst and flooded the house. The water may well have been running for days. A large portion of my small house was essentially wrecked. There wasn't a room that was untouched. It was truly a disaster. Reconstruction took nearly 5 months. However, Safety was there for me. They investigated the claim and the underlying cause -- which was traced to a faulty switch in my furnace. They appraised the damage and paid the full cost of replacement -- which was substantial. At the end of the day, reconstruction and temporary living costs approached six figures! Throughout the ordeal, my claims representative was patient, professional and responsive. I admit, there were some nervous moments early on, while I awaited the results of the claim investigation, but in the end, Safety came through and fullfilled their commitment. Moreover, I believe their reconstruction estimate/appraisal was fair, even generous. My house had antique, quarter-sawn pine floors. They were very expensive to replace, and yet, Safety stepped up and paid the full cost. They also paid the full replacement cost for my custom kitchen cabinets and appliances...and all the rest. Yeah, it was a huge ordeal, something I never ever want to go through again. But for me, Safety Insurance saved the day. They did, in a professional and timely manner, what an insurance company is designed to do: protect me from a huge financial loss as the result of a catastrophic event. Well done Safety. (This is a review of the Safety VIP auto collision service center in Newton, MA.) I had a nasty fender bender recently as well as some other damage that had been inflicted by careless car owners over the past couple of years (they didn't leave notes). It turned into quite a complex claim (four in all), but Don and Mary-Ellen were unfailingly polite, professional, and helpful throughout. They set up a rental with Enterprise that was waiting for me when I dropped off the car. I received regular updates from Don during the repair period. I got the car back in 1.5 weeks, which is a record for auto body shops I've dealt with on my own, and was especially impressive considering that it was still winter with snow on the ground (fender-bender season, so I'm guessing the body shop was pretty busy). This is an 11-year-old BMW and the paint matched perfectly with neither a drip spot nor any sort of mistake to be seen. The car looks like new (except for the parts that weren't repaired, of course). Don called when it was ready and I simply drove over, handed him the keys to the rental and drove home in my "new" car. Phenomenal. I have never experienced service like this in my many decades of owning cars (I'm 59). I cannot recommend this center and these people more highly. read more

God help you if you ever need to deal with these people. This is my first yelp review even though I use it all the time and feel so strongly about this company I just really need to spread the word. My car was involved in a collision with someone who had Safety Insurance and I have had to do all the legwork to get my car fixed. I was set up with an agent for my claim who, when I called, said she was not my agent and transferred me to someone whom I left a message every day with and did not get back to me. Eventually I ended up calling the main number and asking for anyone who was available. One person I spoke with asked why I did not file a claim under my own insurance and when I said it was because it wasn't someone with my insurance who hit my car he said I could have "avoided this hassle" if I had gone through my own insurance. Ha! Talk about customer service. Even though the first estimate on my car was just preliminary, they claimed that was all they were going to pay even though the damage was more extensive and they knew there was supposed to be a more accurate estimate once the bumper was removed and the damage was inspected. I had to contact them several times to send out another representative to apprise the additional damage. You get what you pay for, but with this company, not even. This claim has taken up so much of my time I can't even think about it anymore. read more

Worst experience ever- I was a customer for over 20 years and just changed companies. My car was at the body shop over a month than it needed to be due to their substandard service causing delays. They made me negotiate the price of the rental car overage, rather than just admit their error and pay it in good faith. Never answer phone calls. Days to return a phone call. Had I read all these negative reviews prior to signing up for Safety I would have been scared away! However, I can say as a customer for years, they've been great. Last year a week before Christmas my family was involved in a car accident. I called and was quickly explained the process, which included an adjuster coming to my house on Dec 23rd, the claim being processed in about 2 weeks (including holiday time) and getting us whole once again without any hiccups. They even went the extra mile by getting us the claim check earlier than expected and allowing me to pick it up at opening of business onsite. I really have nothing bad to say, we have our house, multiple cars and toys insured with Safety insurance. read more

Can we give negative stars???? I don't have Safety for insurance (and for good reason) I was rear ended back in November of 2017, the people who hit me said they'd take care of it. They never did. So I went thru my insurance (I have Geico )...I called my insurance at 10pm on a Friday night, got a representative working 2 minutes and they had an adjuster out by Monday afternoon. My car was done in a. Couple of weeks. Geico put up everything to get my car fixed. They got me a rental, which they only covered $15 per day, I paid the rest (which was an additional $350 out of my pocket for an accident that wasn't my fault) Geico then sent my receipt to Safety for reimbursement and gave me the number for a Safety rep to contact about the money I am owed. I called, left a voicemail. Nothing returned. I called back the next day, same thing. I called 3 times a day and sent multiple emails. Nothing returned. FINALLY the rep emailed me saying they needed my receipt from my rental car and proof that my insurance did not cover rentals...when I know for a fact Geico already sent them that information and they were fully aware my policy covered $15 a day. But I sent off the info anyway. That was over a week ago. STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THESE PEOPLE!! As of right now, I am out $350 for an accident that wasn't my fault. The repair shop I got my car fixed at didn't make me pay my deductible and is supposed to get that from Safety so essentially they are out $500 and Safety refuses to call or, at the very least, send an email. I contacted my insurance and they are also having trouble reaching this rep. I now know why Safety has the worst ratings I have ever seen. Do not go to Safety. And if you have to because of a situation like mine, go directly to a supervisor. You MIGHT have better luck. read more

As a loyal customer, I am utterly unsatisfied with the lack of turn around time for my claim. It's been an entire TWO months without a vehicle. Safety requested paper to be signed and delivered in a timely fashion for the total loss. The paper work was delivered overnight. It's now OVER TWO MONTHS! I've never missed a payment to now receiving poor service. I will be forced to shop for other insurance. Unacceptable! High standards for your clients BUT EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE FROM YOUR COMPANY. Safety representative was friendly and explained the home claim process very well. However there were times when I did try to reach via phone and he was not reachable. There was no inspection of home prior to adjuster settling on claim settlement.There was some back and forth between adjuster and restoration company on claim amount that seemed to cause a delay. I did have to call a few times to get an update on status of claim as it was taking awhile. Still waiting to have bill back completed. Hoping there will be no more delays. read more

I've been absolutely destroyed by this insurance company. I was in a small fender bender that caused a scratch to a woman car. She initially demanded $1,000 to fix the issue and had quotes from mechanics to back up that number. I told her to go through insurance. Next thing I know Safety Insurance processed the claim for $5,500 which added 4 points and a $1,500 premium increase. That stays with me for 5 years totaling a $7,500 surcharge for an accident that should have fallen under accident forgiveness. Due to COVID courts have been shut down and I have been unable to appeal. Of course Safety Insurance still raises the bill on me every year for some reason or another... They always find a reason to raise your premium. Ultimately I am upset that Safety Insurance failed to recognize blatant insurance fraud. They told me there was damage under the vehicle which is why it cost so much, well I want to know how a scratch to the rear passenger door could have done damage to the "underside" of the vehicle. Just when we thought Safety Insurance couldn't get any worse, they do! If you're reading Yelp reviews to determine whether or not you'd want to use Safety Insurance, please let my experiences really give you a glimpse of what you'll have to deal with ... On the night before Thanksgiving, Hubs received a pretty serious crack in his windshield that spiderwebbed across his line of sight. We called Safety Insurance only to realize that the office was closed for the Thanksgiving holiday which included Thursday (the actual holiday), Friday (FYI - it's not an official holiday), Saturday and Sunday (because Safety Insurance's business hours are only between 8-4:30 M-F). You think I'm kidding, but I'm not. Once again, we call Safety Insurance when there is a problem and not because we want to say hello. For an insurance company to be closed over the busiest travel weekend of the year is absolutely unacceptable in this day of age. "We're sorry, but the office is closed on Friday as part of the Thanksgiving Holiday..." Funny, because they had no problem processing my payment due that day. But then it gets better ... I continued to send scathing tweets and Facebook posts to Safety Insurance and we finally received a phone call on Friday. And as it turned out, Safety had no record of coverage on my husband's car. They only had coverage on his prior vehicle, not his current vehicle which was purchased 11 months prior. Safety Insurance, you fucked up and you fucked up big time. For 11 months, we were riding around with no coverage (according to them) while paying for it. Had we been in an accident regardless of fault, we would have been royally screwed. Their "hours" are terrible and their agents are completely incompetent. My puppy school dropout dog would be the employee of the month at Safety Insurance. The glass was fixed, but I would have rather had to run through a wood chipper than to deal with Safety again. So to sum up, here's how it goes: 1. They are closed over the busiest travel weekends of the year. 2. There were no checks and balances to realize that a car that had coverage was no longer registered in Massachusetts. They also did not realize my name or my husband's name was associated with this "mystery" vehicle. 3. Since your insurance is your proof of registration in MA, there was a total lapse in communication when a new vehicle was purchased. 4. The only way you're going to immediate service is if you pull a move out of Alec Baldwin's playbook and go berserk on Twitter and Facebook. Charges way to high for people like myself who have excellent driving records. I made a $350 payment to them at the end of June. So my agent calls me up today and said Safety said they never received my payment and wants it in full today (almost $1000) or they are cancelling me as of tomorrow.. I just got back to work not even a month ago due to COVID19. I offered them more than 1/2 of my total due which goes through October and they refused it.. They wanted the whole entire amount. I've used Safety since 2004 or so, my girlfriend and I both have auto policies with them and a home owner's policy. I've had to use the auto policy two times, and the claims were processed without issue. I will say the adjuster was difficult to reach but the body shop got paid, my vehicle was fully repaired in a timely manner so I have nothing really bad to say. Thankfully, I haven't had to use the homeowner's policy. My brother has used them for a homeowner's claim and there were no problems. read more

I found the Claims Adjuster courteous, quick to respond, made everything easy and convenient, amazing customer service. When I dropped off my car they had my rental car waiting for me and when my car was ready I picked it up and they returned my rental. I forgot my garage door opener in the rental. The gentleman at the Safety office noticed, called to alert me and was there on a Saturday for me to retrieve it. I highly recommend them. Regarding the person with Geico, you should be annoyed with your insurance company for asking/requiring you to contact Safety. That's their job. I was notified that a claim was being made against my insurance. The allegation was an accident involving my daughter 6 months ago and that the person just put the claim in. I immediately contacted my claims adjuster demanding to know more but was told safety insurance policy prevents information about the accident being released. The only info was the claim was presented on 12/27/18 from an accident occurring on 7/1/18. This was a day we were out of the state. No other information was being released. I'm their client and they are refusing to inform me about this accident. I was provided an accident report form to fill out without any other information. Don't use Safety insurance. Horrible service! I have an ongoing claim due to a car accident, i have rear ended so not at fault. I have had to pull teeth to get anything done, calling folks myself to schedule anything. And making a complaint on an adjuster lands on deaf ears, the adjuster suprior will not return my call either.
