The employees here are amazing. They are so helpful and truly try to do the best they can considering there's not enough of them. However, I really don't like going to this store, but there are limited options in Dixon. The lines at the store are always packed and there's hardly ever any one to bag groceries. I bag my own groceries 95% of the time; I used to get annoyed about this, but now I just go in expecting it. With hardly any registers open and no one to bag groceries it takes longer to get through the checkout line than to pick out a weeks worth of groceries. Long lines with only one or two check stands open at any given time, expired products sitting on shelves for weeks (hello lawsuit), and about 8/10 times you will have to bag your own groceries since there is a severe lack of staff. Today I asked the woman in charge of the meat department a simple question (in the most polite way possible) that only required a yes or no answer, but for some reason was met with a very condescending attitude and borderline sexist comments. This place is definitely not my jam and I will be going elsewhere from now on, but hey, if you are one of those people that likes getting used as a human toilet, this place might be for you. read more

I love this store, every employee I have dealt with here is awesome and helpful. They have good sandwiches at lunchtime and they are good about knowing the orders of their regular customers. I only gave it 4 stars because at lunch time it's not uncommon to wait 20 minutes or longer to get a sandwich so i wish they would staff a little better, since many people only have a 30 minute lunch break read more

If I could do zero I would. They're delivery service and drivers are utter crap. They deleted my order one day but didn't bother to call me to say it wasn't coming. The next day when I rescheduled it, the drop off window again passed over 1.5 hours late with no call. Finally after I called customer service they say the truck broke down and the frozen items were compromised (I didn't have any but fine) they needed to reschedule again. I said no, I want my money back and was obviously upset because yet again, NO ONE called me to let me know. The customer service guy proceeded to condescend to me that it wasn't a big deal and we could reschedule. After I made sure the refund was set up I hung up. I've never understood the expression so mad I could spit but I sure as shit do today! read more

The customer service at this store has gotten really bad. Lines are always long and usually only 1 or 2 check stands open. Make sure you read the very fine print on any coupons you try to use..I had a $10 off coupon on a $75 purchase so I spent just under $78 and after I made my purchase, I realized the coupon didn't come off. When I went to customer service, I was told I didn't buy $75 in "eligible" items, as sour cream is considered "liquid dairy" and doesn't count towards the coupon. So I spent $74 but the Manager would not even let me buy another items to get the $10 off. All I was told was that the coupon was still good for another two days. Really?! My family and I have been shopping here since the store opened in 1992 but if this is how I'm going to be treated for being a loyal customer, I will be shopping somewhere else! The pharmacy in this Safeway store is horrible. The pharmacy is severely understaffed. As with every understaffed service the employees are so busy they are rude and inefficient. One employee spends far too much time playing with the computer rather than helping clients. I know she's trying but she needs to be trained. I think the worst part is that they close in the middle of the day. After many request there still isnt a chair for people that can't stand for long periods so if you use this pharmacy, plan to stand in line, and come back often to pick up scripts. read more

the pharmacy is the biggest joke. prescription's are NEVER ready no matter how early you send them or call them in. YOU WILL ALWAYS WAIT. Don't think Ive ever been there without waiting in line for a minimum of 20 minutes to find out the prescription I called in 4 days ago isn't ready and to please come back tomorrow. Even when you call and see if its ready you will be on hold for 20 minutes and even if they say its ready.... its not. PLEASE HIRE NEW FASTER STAFF. read more

On June 26, 2013, my son was travelling in Northern California from Oregon and had his wallet and cell phone stolen. I was trying to wire him some money by Western Union from Knoxville, TN, which I had never done before. Without his wallet, he had no ID. I spoke to Denise early in the morning and she told me what to do and how to do it. I sent Steven to Safeway and found a Western Union station here in Knoxville. I think I spoke to Michelle four times over the space of a couple of hours before I finally succeeded in getting Steven together with funds to make his trip home. She was very patient with us and very understanding, even as business in the store began to pick up. I wanted to thank Denise and Michelle for a job well done. read more

I'm not much of a sandwich man but when I want one I go to the Safeway Deli. 4 times now I have gone in there and been welcomed by Danielle's out going smile while she skips over in her sing song voice "what can I get for you?". She has my sandwich memorized now and never has a problem making sure I have everything thing I need, EVEN if she has to grab it off the shelf. I know she's new but this girl has it going! I'm a Raley's/Bel-Air loyalist but when I moved to Dixon, I had to switch to Safeway. I've gone back and forth between Safeway and Walmart for groceries but I can no longer deal with the horrid lines and waiting and ignorance at Walmart so I pay more at Safeway. And yes, they are so much more expensive. It pains me to shop there but I guess you pay for the pleasure of a pleasant experience. The staff is really friendly and always willing to help. The thing I have never liked about Safeway is that parts of the store seem really unorganized. The chip/cracker aisle is always a hot mess and the bread area is messy. The space between the check out stands and the end of the aisles is so small that lines take up so much space but nearly every Safeway is built this way. Small problems and nothing that will turn me back into a full time Walmart shopper. Sign up for their online coupon system. I save a bunch of money on items I purchase a lot when I log in and add them to my card. Savings are removed automatically. read more

This Safeway is in general friendly and well stocked. A good selection/variety of products and brands and the isles are fairly organized. Depending on the time of day or what day of the week you go there to shop, sometimes it takes forever to get through the check out lines...minus. Customer service at the flowers station can be shaky too. Calling an able florist is a rare thing ... Most of the times it's just some random lady of the staff who has a general knowledge of where the flowers are and stuff, but not someone who really knows what to do with them. Sometimes you also have to wait 15+ minutes until someone arrives...big minus. Big plus is that there's a Wells Fargo here and their customer service representatives are always kind and fantastic...there's also a Starbucks with a sitting area for those in need of that daily boost. They have a good amount of on-sale items here, so that's definitely a good thing...and although I don't put gas here, this location has its own Safeway gas station that is always bustling due to it being perfectly situated next to the freeway. :) read more

This store recently hung up some signs which say something like " we appreciate your time so we will open new registers as soon as there are more than three people in line". Tonight, for the third time since I noticed the signs, I have stood in a line going all the way down the ice cream isle. Maybe they are trying to sell more ice cream, maybe the new signs are some kind of inside joke, ha ha. The people at the registers are not to blame, the people who make the big bucks are. Get your act together Safeway and learn how to staff a store! Promote people who work on the front lines to make these decisions, not suits with worthless MBAs!!!!! Danielle never has a problem making me fresh chicken strips whenever they're out! I've been shopping at the Dixon Safeway for more than 15 years now, and am EXTREMELY pleased with it for many reasons. First and foremost, the customer service is superb! I like it that many of the cashiers recognize me on sight and greet me by name without having to look at the receipt after the transaction is finished. I like that I may do virtually all of my banking instore. Produce department is great, as are the Bakery and Deli, but I am especially impressed with the Meat Department, where I can consistently find not only great cuts of the various meats and seafood, but pre-prepared entrées like Chicken Cordon Bleu, Marinated Beef and Chicken Kebabs, Gourmet Burgers, and my new favorite: Taco-Crusted Tilapia. The Meat Department Staff always seem to have time to discuss preparation and have offered many excellent serving suggestions. Cheers! read more
