I am very irritated with Safeway! #1 you have to use a phone app to get coupons on items. If you don't take the 15 minutes to do this before you shop you loose out! Why can't they just automatically upload them for customers rewards cards and make shopping easier not more frustrating? This really makes it hard on people that don't have smart phones or elderly people. They are people that really need price breaks! Aldo this store is basically self serve at high prices!!!! One checker 75 percent of the time and No one to bag groceries! You can't watch checker and prices being charged because you are too busy bagging your own darn groceries! I have been going to the Family Grocer in Duvall proper. Yes they have higher prices BUT they always have more checkers, don't use self serve check out that takes a job away from a person! Have a good meat department. And always check you out with a smile and bag your groceries for you! Safeway, I have commented about your lack of good service to the store for years but it only gets worse! I've always had a good experience at this particular Safeway. Friendly staff, good selection of foods and floral department. Only downside is there is usually a long wait at the pharmacy, but it's been my experience that pharmacy is slow no matter where you go. read more

This is for the pharmacy (The grocery store staff is actually awesome) A couple of the pharmacy staff members are helpful and nice (Steve is wonderful, Jean and Lisa are very nice), The rest, not so much. Also don't bother calling in your refills or having your Dr. call in a prescription. You'll wait in line to pick it up for 20 minutes only to be told they don't have it ready, and you need to go to the prescriptions desk and then wait 30 minutes for a fill and get back in line for another 20 minutes to pick up. (This has happened multiple times now) Also--watch the dosing, if what you read when you get home doesn't seem right, question it. read more

It's Safeway... not much to review. It's your average grocery store experience. There are some things I like about this Safeway (location, best local donuts, most of the products I want, usually the best price on soda, and it's easy to navigate). There are some things I'm not so crazy about (no Boars Head products, the bell to get attention at the meat counter which doesn't always get attention, the sushi could be improved upon). But the one thing that I just don't understand is how they employ so many people with no social skills? Ex - the other week I went in for a quick run and there was no hand held baskets by the entrance. So I went over the the self check out area because there's always baskets over there. The baskets were next to the self check out employee (middle aged woman, salt and pepper hair) so just to be polite as I reached for one I asked, "mind if I take one of these?". She literally barked/yelled at me, "NO!!! THEY ARE MINE! ALL MINE!". I jumped back, afraid she was about to eat me. She then laughed maniacally and I took the cue she was kidding and I quickly grabbed the basket and tried to back away slowly from her. As I turned to walk away she continued to yell at me, "I'm crazy... we're all crazy here". Uh huh. I get that! You certainly are! I have had many experiences like this one with the employees here... a lot of them are a wee bit socially awkward. I have just come to accept this as living in Duvall. I'm glad we have this grocery store here. It's not perfect but at least it's local and easy to get in and out of for a quick run. read more

This is a nice Safeway. They have a Starbucks and everything that most Safeways have. Also, they have clean bathrooms. Every time I've been here, the employees have been very helpful and nice. I really like this Safeway and it's convenient when I'm visiting my family members in the area. read more

This Safeway is horrible- i thought I would do some shopping because I had a half hour to kill before my dentist appt. I understand being short staffed completely but I waited 10 minutes in a line- while the lines were down all the isles and when I finally got up to adding my groceries on the belt the rude checker lady just yelled out "I'm closed" so rude! She could have said it so many other ways than she did. I finally ended up going through the self check out with a ton of items- I always go through the checker lIne because I feel if people go through self check out, checker jobs will soon go away... well I am fully content with checking myself out from here on... Then as I go to leave, I figured I would treat myself to a Starbucks, the kid working there was looking down playing on his phone and I asked if he was still open, he said weeeeeeeeeelllllllllllll... I mean I guess so. I just said never mind and walked out! Mind you, it's 4:30- their hours are posted and they close at 7! I will drive over to family grocer from now on because obviously they have gone way down hill. read more

I have been shopping at this Safeway location now for almost 5 years off and on. I am not a regular there - due to the service level (only get the basics when I cannot drive to Monroe for groceries). The staff are horrible here. They are not very social. I am sorry but when I walk up to the check out counter, it is not my responsibility to greet them. They should greet me and "welcome" me to their store. I am, after all, giving them job security. I have worked in the customer service industry for 15 years and the people they have hired here look like they could care less on working there. My recommendation would be to shop elseware whenever possible. read more

It took me 30 minutes to checkout. They only had 2 lanes open and over 20 people waiting. If you guys nenever got rid of self checkout you would have less upset customers. This location is always out of stock of a lot of items. And not so friendly customer service. read more

Worst customer service ever. They would fail any secret shopper. Additionally I had bought a product that had a defective seal from the macaroni salad packs in the deli cooler. When I came in to return the product the customer service told me to see the deli counter , the deli counter told me to grab a new pack and see customer service, customer service told me to see the deli counter, then the deli counter told me to see customer service again! I neither were helpful and had crap attitudes, I eventually I just put the broken item on the counter and asked if I needed to run my card or could leave. I was told I could just leave with my new item. Guess macaroni salad is not in the high value list as the security beeper never went off on my non scanned item. read more

It's your basic Safeway, and I'm not normally a big fan of Safeways, but the staff at this location stands out. Always friendly and sincere (even when they're overly swamped, like at the Friday evening deli counter). In years of coming here, it is noticeable how darn nice everyone is! Also, the floral department does a great job, there is a Starbucks and a few tables, and the bathrooms are clean. read more

This is a good Safeway. High marks for the Chinese food station and homemade sandwiches. They have good 50%off bins and the staff is friendly. My only knock is the checkout service. 99% of the time the checkout lines are redic! They need a second permanent person at the next register. Decent candy selection. read more

The worst. And yet I've been shopping here for years because they're nearby and seem to cycle back and forth between awful or (mostly) okay. Also, I like punishment. Apparently. People seem to lay the blame of this store's problems on corporate or the new manager. Having never shopped at other Safeways or Albertsons, I have no idea if that's true. I do know, this place had problems well before the above. The bad - always out of multiple things on my list, a few exceptionally nasty employees, ALWAYS understaffed, expired food, visibly rotting produce, frozen items melted and refrozen, the wretched music they play, the never ending lines. The good - a few super nice cashiers and self check. Oh, wait, they got rid of self-check. Never mind. This Safeway reminds me of the old Piggly Wiggly grocers back in the small town south of my youth. That's not a compliment. The Redmond Ridge QFC (so, so good!) is getting the bulk of my grocery money these days but I would rather that money be spent in Duvall. read more

I love the store-not the pharmacy. Absolute worst service and wait times are unreliable. I waited 30 minutes for them to tell me they could not fill my prescription because they couldn't reach my dentist. REALLY?? The point of a prescription is so they don't have to call your Dr. Worst experience. I was having severe tooth pain from my unfinished root canal. They were absolutely rude about it. Im switching pharmacies- they said I wouldn't get it filled anywhere else- wrong. I got it filled at QFC. Never going back to that pharmacy- this is the 4th time they messd up and couldn't do their jobs. read more

Had to update my review. Tonight 4/22/17 at 7:30pm there were only two checkout lines open and each of them had no fewer than 25 people in them!! When we finally got to the front the nice checker said "sorry for the wait, they cut back our hours again." Seems this place is continually understaffed. The self-checkout used to be your only hope of a shorter line and now, unlike every other grocery store, they decided to remove the self-check option. Safeway Duvall has NO Involved or caring management. The fact that someone is paid to not care about their potential 'paying customers' is stunning and beyond belief in a very competitive market. Poor customer service and attention to great or even good product availability is a portent to a store closure. I assume all those employees apparently are not concerned. This pharmacy is the worst!! They don't even acknowledge you when you walk up to the counter and you stand there like an idiot thinking has anyone seen me should I just keep standing here, no kidding, sometime for 5 minutes. The staff here is not just slow but they just could care less about the customers, especially the older lady with the long braid. Every time I go there I end up leaving frustrated because yet again they don't know who I am or what I need and my prescription is never ready. I just left there empty handed after a two hour wait that they couldn't explain and after I called my doctor and asked them to call the pharmacy personally to clear up whatever was going on the lady with the braid put the call on hold and stood there doing nothing for 5 minutes before she went back to pick up the call.....What is wrong with these people!!! I am going to switch pharmacies and I suggest you do the same. Worst customer service ever! Although I will admit that the service is somewhat better when the pharmacist is on duty but when he's not the lady with the braid is unbelievable rude and unhelpful even to her coworkers. read more

Our Duvall Safeway has never been what you might call exceptional. However since Albertsons purchased Safeway things have really taken a turn for the worse!!! First they removed the self check sighting theft issues and a desire to return to customer service and shortly after that they cut 139 checker and other employee working hours. Check out lines (even with all checkers on) are often 10 people deep. Frustrated customers abandon their full shopping carts, out of frustration, and go to one of our other local grocery stores! The shopping experience itself isn't much better. Empty and half empty shelves greet shoppers on a regular basis. Either the cut in employee hours has made it impossible for employees to get the shelves properly stocked, corporate has dramatically restricted the purchasing ability of our store or possibly creditors are not being paid properly, leading to a COD or restricted purchasing situation! Shopping at our neighborhood Safeway is like shopping in Beirut or some other third world country! The people who suffer the most are our friends and acquaintances, the wonderful, hard working employees who give the warm, friendly and helpful face to our store!!!!! There are hundreds of Microsofties and dozens of upper 1%ers that live and shop in Carnation/Duvall area. Why in the world would any Corporation treat its best customers in this way!!!! We also have friends at the local QFC, they say that ever since Albertsons has taken over Safeway their business (Qfc's) has gone up tremendously. Lastly I would tell Albertsons corporate "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" Return our self check lanes!! This time turn them so they face each other, making it easier for one person to monitor the situation, provide the required customer help and prevent and stop theft! Although employee hours are the one and only variable cost you can control, understand that these wonderful people are the face of your business. Treat them with respect and do what you can to make them happy! Return their hours. these hard working people deserve to make a reasonable living! Please understand we shop here because it is convenient but we are loyal to our friends. Be good to them!!!!! If more profit is what you need, make sure there is an adequate stock of the fastest moving, best selling products on the shelf. Loss of sales is really the largest issue this store faces!! It is so disheartening to come into the store looking for a particular product only to find the shelf empty! I will often leave my full grocery cart and go to a store that has all of the items I am shopping for! Popular products that sell out often, seem to only be allotted as much shelf space as less popular products that don't sell nearly as well. Proper inventory control will earn you much much more in the way of profits!! I have also noticed that if a SKU/Price tag gets knocked off of the shelf often times that product doesn't get reordered! At one point I gave this Safeway a 5-star rating and said it was one of my favorite grocery stores. Not any more. I am not sure if it is due to the change in ownership, but it's gone downhill over the last few months. It began when they removed the self-ringing stations, and now I dread having to wait in line to purchase my groceries. I often stop here on the way home after a long day at work and get so frustrated about waiting in long lines. There are usually only two cashiers during this busy time so the lines wind all around and you can see many unhappy faces on the customers around you. It doesn't matter if you are buying three items or 25, you should still expect at least a 10-15 minute wait in line. Also, the food selection is super limited so there are usually several items on my shopping list that I can't find. I used to like shopping here and listening to the music while I looked around at leisure. Now, I feel irritated most of the time while I'm in the store. read more
