THIS Safeway's sushi is SO GOOD. *This is a public service announcement* if you're looking for a good fresh sushi that is grab and go with a wide variety of options then you should come here. It's not that I have been to all Safeway sushi sections on the island but I would say of the ones I've been to this has the best options. I was most excited today because they had a spicy roll that had fresh sliced jalapeños on top! I also got a roll that was really healthy, it had the California roll base with carrots wrapped in lettuce and rice paper. AND I really delicious and pretty roll that had a little chunks of chopped fresh salmon on top. I forgot to write the name of it down but I have a picture with this review. I also took pictures of everything they had just so you can see the range of options they have. They poke balls also look really good too. (you may need to come by noon because later in the day there are less and less options). To be honest I've gotten sushi here anytime of the day. Evening included. The store is always clean, associates on every other isle stocking up groceries. Safeway in Ewa Beach has been my go to lately for... ******HOLIDAY CUPCAKES****** What? Holiday cupcakes? Yes...you heard right? Who would have think that a grocery store would provide the tastiest and cutest cupcakes? I surely never thought that? I've been impressed every time I pick up a 10 or 18 pack of custom made or pre-packed cupcakes. Whenever I put in a custom made order, I've always received "top notch" service...from the time of order to the time of pick up. The bakery offers chocolate and white flavored cupcakes decorated with bright and colorful buttercream frosting and topped off with an adorable ring or pick to match the holiday season. The price is also very reasonable. Allow 24 hours for custom made orders. So, when the holiday season approaches, check out the bakery to order your special custom made holiday cupcakes! This is probably the nicest Safeway on this island. They have a large selection when comes to produce - both large areas for locally grown and organic! Not to mention the produce is always nice and fresh. The bakery and bread area is always full and have every cookie, bread and pastry you could think of. They have a big area for wine and spirits. My family also loves to grab donuts here! Another area I frequent is their sushi. They have sushi chefs making fresh rolls everyday and they have the best wraps. I often stop here to grab one for lunch when I don't feel like cooking. They're always good quality and taste yummy. Their gas station always has the cheapest gas too! It's located on the other side of the parking lot next to McDonald's. Parking is easy and the store is easy to navigate. Not much I don't like about this Safeway. It's a bit pricy but convenient for me (when I'm too lazy to drive to Target or the Commissary). It's always arctic cold inside, so bring a jacket! read more

I have been shopping here for years and have had zero complaints. The staff is friendly, the selection is plentiful, and the quality has always been good. And I'm a very easily satisfied customer. I've never been a "let me speak to your manager" type and it takes a lot for me to complain or leave a negative review. Unfortunately I feel it's a necessity now as I've informed the staff here several times over the past month of this moldy item on their shelves and each time I return it's still being sold. I'm unsure if the items are being removed and restocked with others from the storeroom that are also moldy or if no action has been taken but it's unacceptable that this product is available for purchase in this condition and has been for over a month now. read more

Yeah sure they're a little pricier than most but when you factor in time and gas that might bring it to an even playing field. For me, it's enough. It's also enough that I can get out of there quick by going through the self check out. I sometimes wonder why there's long lines at the registers and the self check outs are dead. Well, good for me. It's also enough to come here on Fridays to take advantage of the $5.00 deals. Love getting 1lb ham, some pizzas, specialty sausages, shrimps and other seafoods, even some meats. I sometimes go in the morning get what I want then come back in the afternoon to see what else is put out not advertised. It's also enough there are a few areas you can sit in to chill or hand, which ever suits you. And, if you get hungry you can get a soup and sandwich combo, sushi, poke,pastries or pies to have with your water, soda or Starbuck Coffee. All right there within the store. Big plus, easy access to public restrooms in the same area. Not many grocery stores does that but the newer Safeway Stores, I notice, do. If you get their card and open\register your card, you can get special coupons based on what you buy. It's a great way to save a little more for all of us here on the islands. read more

Yes I'm doing a review for a gas station (sigh). I'll keep this very brief. What makes this station "unique" is that the pump hose is NOT LONG enough at all. Be sure to park your tank on the same side as the pump. I made that mistake yesterday and ended up going into the store 3 times! - once to tell the attendant to cancel my transaction and to change my transaction to pump so and so. - then another time to go back and tell the attendant that the pump wasn't working (she had trouble with canceling and transferring transaction to new pump) - 3rd and final time to have her cancel and CORRECTLY credit my transaction to the proper pump. LESSON TO BE LEARNED HERE: - See above - park tank on same side as pump. Don't try to be "efficient" and think that the hose will reach if you park otherwise. It won't. - There's only one way to the pumps (just like Costco) - so be sure to get it right the first go around. - Use your safeway card number to get discounts at the pump. For every X number of dollars spent you get discounted gas prices when you have reached that X number (X may be $100.00 - not sure). Lesson learned and although it took me almost 15 minutes to complete a 3 minute task, I'd still go here. read more

Still love this Safeway. Just to add from my previous review, this safeway now has a gas station. The gas station the cheapest gas I've seen. Cheaper than if not equal to Costco and the gas in the military bases. It's even lower when you use you Safeway gas rewards. Once I paid $15 to pump a full tank of gas. Unbelievable! You can get 10 cents to $1 off every gallon. My favorite day to shop is on Thursdays. A lot of items go on clearance. It is also prep day before.... $5 Fridays. (A day when there are deals galore!! Just too any people though. If you go plan ahead) Reasons why I love this place: - Starbucks is right inside - the Safeway app makes it easier to Coupon clip and even get items for FREE! -The quality if produce and meat is so much better. -They have tres leches cake at the bakery! YUM!! -Shopkick points just for walking in! If you don't know, it gives you free gift cards. - I get gas rewards to use at Chevron and Safeway gas lanes. Overall, it's still a great place to go as long as you have the safeway app linked to your safeway card. Visited the store today cause they had Beef loin tri tips on sale for 4.99 I purchased one after examining several packs .......many you could see a lot of fat .....but I thought ok this seemed pretty good SAFEWAY should advertised 40% fat ....paid 37.00 when I in fact purchased 40% fat .....after trimming off several pounds of fat I should have been charged about 20.00 VERY DECEIVING .......can't believe they are so proud of doing business like this . I felt this was very deceiving and dishonest hiding the fat so you can't see how much is really there and facing up the meat to enhance the SALE . The Deli Mgr sucks. I went to get my Fri Special Chicken wings on Fri 5/19/23. The Lines were Backed up to almost the Bakery. Deli Mgr, Elderly Filipino women, did nothing to speed up the lines. People we're getting Mad waiting for their Chicken wings. One example was a Filipino woman cutting in line & insisting someone stole her Chicken wing order. Again Deli Mgr did nothing! This is our family's "go to" place for gas! Location: It is conveniently located in the Laulani Shopping Center across from City Mill and McDonald. It's close to home for me and I like that I don't have to drive to Kapolei to put gas at the NEX Mini Mart or Costco. Prices: They advertise 2 different prices; Cash/Debit Price and Credit Card Price. The cash/debit price is normally $0.10 cheaper than the credit card price. The price of gas is comparable to Costco and the military gas stations. I've seen the Safeway Gas Station prices cheaper than Costco and the military gas station the past couple months. Mini Mart: There is a small mini mart next to the gas station. This is where you would pay cash for your gas. You can also buy coffee, chips, donuts and etc. Overall, I love having a Safeway Gas Station! The price is cheaper compared to other gas stations in the area and it's conveniently located. read more

The store is fully stocked, festive and makes me want to buy things. I can't believe there are Christmas flower arrangements already out on display in October but they're getting us ready to gift shop. The Safeway in Ewa Beach is a place I frequent. I noticed a sign by the deli regarding breakfast items and I had been meaning to stop and try something...today was the day. I had the veggie burrito with potatoes, bell peppers, red onions and olive relish. The breakfast burrito was AMAZING!!!! Service was excellent as the lady that prepared the burrito asked me exactly what I wanted and she suggested a few items aswell. It was a hot, healthy breakfast burrito for about $5 bucks. For some reason the app sends my delivery orders to this store even though it is not the closest location to me. Almost every time I place an order I get a call that they don't have, not just one or two items, but more than half of the things I ordered. Occasionally, if I can't answer the phone they will text and other times they will cancel my order. This happens no matter if I order $45 worth of groceries or $250 worth. They just never have anything I order in stock? This also runs the gamut from ready meals to produce to fresh meats to snacks and dairy, so all of their depts not o ly have very little stock but inventory so incorrect that their website can sometimes have upwards of 10-15 items the store doesn't have? And that's just based on what I ordered, bo telling what else their system says they have but they actually do not. Stick with Fiodlabd, they have infinitely better online inventory accuracy and their customer service is so great that if they are out of something I want they will text me a day or two later when they get it in stock. read more

It's a supermarket so what makes it better then the rest? Well let's just review the standard stuff. Large area with plenty of fresh produce. But do a close inspection of pre packed fruit. On one occasion, there was mold on pre packed strawberries and another time same with grapes. Funny thing is I also saw mold on the cheese in the dairy lane when it is not suppose to be there. I noticed it's only on the pre packed items. The loose vegetables and fruits are constantly being replaced and inspected. There is plenty of open refrigeration so bring a jacket or wear long sleeves. This store is huge so it pretty much has everything you need. Deli, bakery, sushi station, butchers, florist, of course Starbucks (not the same owner as the one 200 yards away. I keep thinking of Shrek). Anyway, one stop shopping and two clean restrooms. Parking lot is big but for some reason on Fridays when special items are $5 the parking spots all disappear along with the shopping carts. See a cart grab it. This Safeway has its own fuel station. And gas prices are about 10-20 cents cheaper per gallon then town. And on a good day cheaper then Costco. Overall you can save some cash by using their loyalty card. My tip for the day. If you ever visit a place that has a loyalty program but you don't have a membership and don't won't to hold up the line to fill an application out, tell the cashier it's 86753 oooo nineeee and the local area code. Signs on floor to keep : Safe distance while standing in line to check out . What a waste of money. Don't know why they cram so many flowers in small buckets. Girl standing behind the counter checking her phone when she could have been pulling dead flowers. Half if the blooms fell off when I took the plastic off. The others are dead in 2 days without even opening. Safeway used to guarantee freshness now its basically tuff luck. I'm not a negative yelper... but this dude made me so uncomfortable. I always forget my bags so I bag everything up at the trunk of my car. This employee was collecting carts in the parking lot - Came up to my cart and put his hands on it. I looked at him and told him "uhm I'm gonna be awhile.." and he said "I can wait" and keeps his hands on the cart I'm using. Standing barely two feet away from me... like wtf dude if you're gonna "wait" like back up! He just stared at me the whole time and made me feel so creeped out I threw everything into my car just so he would leave. I ALWAYS return my cart to the front. You don't need to worry about my cart in a parking lot FULL of them. This 1 star is a review on that employee. Not the place itself. Going in for last minute Christmas Eve shopping, and I walked the store twice indecisive, and I was out in 40 minutes. read more

I'm so glad that Safeway opened up here in Ewa Beach. This store is clean, has a good selection. The produce section is fabulous!!! I also like the deals ,3 different size shopping carts and the staff has always been very friendly. The negatives and there is only one but it's a big one...they need to improve on opening up additional checkouts when there are long lines. I have had many times when we wait so long in line my frozen food starts melting. For this reason I really try not to buy ice cream unless it's the only item I have and can use self checkout. If the store can improve upon that it would be worthy of more stars. Kinda a bummer having a good shopping experience for it all to come crashing down by having to wait and wait just to pay. read more

This one star rating is for the 11/24/18 3:50pm crew in the Floral Dept. They saw me looking at the red holiday plant for a good 5 mins. Walking from one area to the cashier area and back determining which ones are nicer. Well... you just lost my sale. There were no other customers around. No "How can I help you" or even a "hello" but having a conversation as if I wasn't there. I feel shame for workers like that. You get paid to do your job duties and I'm pretty sure that includes customer service and not talking away when there's customers around. It's very rude! I came from years of customer service experience and always give a smile and at least say Hello. None of that at all! It's fine if they are having a conversation but when a customer comes, at least acknowledge to let the customer know you're there to help if the customer needs help. Why do I keep returning to Safeway? They are expensive as hell and it's a bit out of my way but man do I love their French bread and their display of fruits and vegetables....ahhhh...looks so good. I want to buy it all. If you are not a "club" member you better become one real quick unless you're balling hard and don't mind paying the artificially inflated costs. The club card can save you a ton of $$$$. Plus you don't even need to carry it with you. Just associate your phone number to the club card and you can just type in your digits on the payment machine to receive your discounts. No need to add another "loyalty card" to your wallet or slip another card on the key chain. Just remember your phone number! I'm a fan. read more

I must have been living under a rock! After our rounds of golf in the Ewa Beach area we decided upon dining at Russo's Coal Fired Italian Kitchen. We had no idea where it was so, we turned on our trusty GPS and found Laulani Village Shopping Center. Ahem, it was located several blocks away from the golf course but further along the main thoroughfare, Ft. Weaver Road, than we've ever been, in years! It was like a new World had opened up before our eyes! We noticed that this shopping center is anchored by Safeway and City Mill (local home improvement store). After dinner, we wandered into the Safeway. We are regular shoppers at Safeway and found this location to resemble the the Kapahulu Flagship store or Pavilions. The aisles are spacious and clean. There are well-stocked and organized shelves with large clear signage announcing the inventory. Also, on display were all sorts of ethnic and local food items in addition to the usual groceries. The produce department was filled with fresh and beautiful vegetable and fruit displays. Their bakery area featured their Artisan breads and pastries that you could purchase individually or pre-packaged. There is also a large deli section (Signature Cafe) and an in-store Starbucks cafe, even though there was a full-service Starbucks across the parking lot. I did notice that all of the checkout stands had at least 3-5 people in line. There was hardly anyone at the self-checkout. This store was impressive, pleasant to shop in and the Ewa Beach residents are fortunate to have such quality, variety and great service from Safeway. Note: No changing tables in the men's bathroom... Not sure about the women's. Still, our babies need a place to have their diaper changed! I think Safeway is expensive in Hawaii. With that being said, they do have some good deals. So if you are frugal like me and always check out the weekly sales, even though Safeway is expensive, they have some great deals especially on $5 Fridays. On Fridays, you can find some great deals like the big jugs of OJ for $5. If you've lived here long enough, you'll know that's a crazy steal. Normally, it will run anywhere between 8-10 bucks. If you go there and they are out, you can always ask for a raincheck and use it on your next trip. Their store is pretty neat and clean and the produce always looks great! There's never anyone in the aisles though. The lines can really suck here, but they do try really hard to get them down. I appreciate how their price signs show the sale and any additional deals you could get using their coupons. They print the barcode on the sign so you can easily scan the coupon using the app and add it to your card. NOTE: I've heard that if you do it in store, you have to go near the doors or outside for it to actually load to your card. I've never had any problems with this, but I usually load up all my coupons before I go there. Also, sometimes if you check under Deli coupons in your app, you could find coupons for a free or discounted Starbucks drink (score!). If wasn't for $5 Fridays, I probably wouldn't shop here. But with the sale, and the coupons, and the gas it tends to be a good deal so we will continue to come here. read more

This review is for the entire store. which I find loaded with organic product choices but also for great selections (how many different kinds of tomatoes, grapes and kale can you find?), great wine and spirit choices (Sriracha beer anyone?). amazing lighting (very sultry nice lighting in the produce and task lighting in the canned/bagged aisles as it should be), the decor and the check out, which was fast. I was also lamenting that the Hawaiian Safeway stores did not have the cool wines Oak Harbor Washington had - mainly the Bewitched and Curious Beasts wine and this store has them!! Yay, I won't have to pack wine next time I visit Washington because I'll have it right here, and in Ewa Beach, no doubt! The lion's share of the review, however, goes to the Pharmacy Department! I wouldn't be shopping here regularly if it weren't for the pharmacy. The manager behind the counter, Brendan, is amazing. Talk about caring and being genuine about it! You know those vibes you get when you meet people? He truly cares about people and it shows - I'm in the people business myself and you can't fake this kind of sincerity. You either got it or you don't and Brendan is one of the people that has it, which is why I am very fortunate to call him my family's pharmacist. He's the kind of guy you'd want to follow if he left town for somewhere else, he's that awesome. Brendan lends a listening ear, asks you how your day was and makes sure you'll be able to get your rx filled on time. He also works his tail off every time I see him - if anyone in corporate is reading this, get the guy some help! But seriously no matter how busy he is, he will always flash a smile at you and ask you how you are doing. If it were not for Brendan and the pharmacy here, I would not be shopping at this location. read more

Safeway at the new Ewa Town Center is the newest Safeway on the island. My review will not be about their prices or cleanliness of the store itself. Today is about their "$5 Dollar Friday" promotion. Every Friday, Safeway offers about 2 dozen discounted items for $5. The savings are ridiculously worth going every Friday - which I do. My concern is that for the 3rd consecutive week, Safeway has rung up the regular price on their $5 discount promotion item. When I returned to alert them of their error, despite me showing them the ad, they still questioned the error. Instead of automatically refunding me the difference, they chose to investigate if the price was correct or not. Management shouldn't question the customer much less have me prove the discrepancy. They should do their investigation after refunding me and after I left as opposed to making me wait. I also agree with other reviewers in Safeway workers not being the most friendliest employees around. A little smile will go a long way. They can't compete with Foodland workers! read more

I said excuse me (later I found her name was Cheryl) and she didn't respond and I said it again and she gave me this UGLY look and said in a rude tone, "I'll be right there!" .. so with that vibe I was already not having that because of past experiences with other rude associates. Anyways long story short she had to delete an item of the BOGO items... and when I asked her if she could void it out she was silent and her body language was lie she hated helping me. Like WTF! So was was clicking on whatever in the screen and walked away not even saying like, "ok, it should be deleted from your total" or something !! Acknowledge your customers!! Be nice to them that's the reasons why you have a job! Don't be rude because it makes you look ugly INSIDE AND OUT. Weekly shopping adventure was really good today. We went to get some filet mignon and Joseph (head butcher I believe) was in the middle of tidying the meats. He came up to me and offered help before I even had a chance to ding the bell. He's extremely friendly and almost always is the one to help me with the meats. He is also very knowledgeable and has been helpful in what meats we need for different purposes. Checking out was a breeze, shocking because there's usually a bit of a wait. Only been to this location once. There are plenty of parking and other stores around. The place is nice and neat, with a restroom for you to use. If you are in the area shopping at other stores, try visiting this supermarket. You can find something you like to eat or drink. read more
