I have been buying at this store for several years, about once per week. There are some nice, friendly employees there but week in and week out the service is poor. I almost always go home and complain about the long wait in line or the bagger who stands doing nothing at one check stand while not bagging the groceries where people are waiting in the check stand to his/her left, or the employees who talk amongst themselves while you are waiting to get your groceries, etc. Today I decided to complain to someone at the store. I was there at about 5 PM standing in the ONLY line open for anyone with more than 15 items- 3 lines were open for those with 15 items or less. When it was my turn and the checker asked me how it was going- I said not so good, I would like to talk to the manager. He said he was the person to talk to although he didn't have a manager tag on. So I tried to talk to him about the poor service & why wasn't there another line open all while he was checking my groceries and I was fooling with the electronic pay station and 5 other people were waiting behind me. He seemed angry by the time I paid my money- should have said "Why yes, I would like help to my car", thereby taking the only bagger out of play. That's it- I will go to Raley's about 4 miles away- too bad, the Safeway where I used to live was great. read more

Standing in an extremely long line being insulted by the hanging signs that tell us that they will open more registers if there are 3 or more customers in line. There are 15+ customers in each of the 3 lines that are open. Was told that's all the cashiers they have right now. Raleys isn't far from here. Will be going there from now on. read more

In addition to the constant long lines and poor service - I arrived at 8:05pm to the Customer Service counter and was told that it closed at 8:00pm. No sign was out indicating that and in the typical poor attitude I've seen over & over at this location, the clerk said come back at 8am and then she walked away! Grocery Outlet is closeby and ALWAYS offers great service, so I'll start going there instead! read more

Nice Safeway with fresh fruits and veg. It is very convenient for local residents living in this area. It is nice not having to drive in to town, Cashiers are nice and helpful and the other patrons are respectful and nice. I most;y like the short lines and the friendly service. Very close to the location and didn't realize it was a 24/7 Safeway. I've frequented this store in particular because I'm only a short distance from the area. Very, very convenient altogether. A big THANK YOU to my checker this morning, Markita! She really took Customer Service to the next level which is not something you see often in grocery stores now nowadays. I was driving to work and had already been on the road for almost an hour. I was happy to see a 24 hour Safeway where I could stop to grab a few breakfast items and some pastries to take into my employees. I grabbed the basket thinking I wouldn't be buying too much but soon had it filled to the max... I was clearly struggling to carry the basket in one arm and two boxes of pastries in the other along with my purse all while trying not to spill anything out of the basket. I came around the corner from the bakery towards the front of the store and Markita was walking towards me she immediately stopped and asked if I needed help. I said yes that would be great as I handed her the two boxes that were in my arm. She carried my items over to the register and before doing so I asked if I was finished shopping or if I needed to grab anything else. Luckily I was ready to check out. She took me over to lane eight and quickly rang up my items asking if she could get a cart for me or if I needed any assistance to get items out to my car. She was polite and professional and really went the extra mile to help me out. It might seem like a small gesture but at 4 o'clock in the morning at the start of what's about to be a long day and a 3 hour drive, an outstanding customer service experience was a great way to start my day!! I thanked her for all of her help but wanted to take a minute to write a review. As a manger I know what it's like to hear from customers and unfortunately most people only take the time to write something if they've had a bad experience. I always appreciate it when I hear or receive a good review or a quick email from a customer recognizing one of my drivers or other employees. I definitely think she deserves some recognition for going out of her way! Hopefully I'm spelling her name correctly:) I haven't shopped here before so I can't compare this to any other experience at this specific location but I can definitely compare it to my experiences at several other grocery stores and I was impressed. read more

I just came from Safeway, and decided it was time to express my negative opinion of them. We have lived in Green Valley a LONG time even before Safeway came in! At first it was just nice to have a grocery store close by, but I was always put off when they decided to require you to be a "member" and join or not receive their better prices. A grocery store?? Of course, the scam is to get your personal info so they can sell it, but now most stores pull the same thing. I thought since they are union it was just another negative, controlling avenue for them. So, I hardly ever shop there. But, on occasion it is necessary and I bite my tongue and put up with it. But now it is on to bigger and more offensive things. Why is it necessary to hire personnel that are offensive to the human eye?? I get that it is a new world and we cannot say no to anyone for anything, but really, can they not hire at least a "slightly" professional looking person? It offends me and is not an enjoyable experience to have to look at a clerk who I would avoid in any other case. Also, to my dismay, I have seen some large graffiti on their back wall which as far as I know is still there!! What are you waiting for -- another tagger to write over it? Come on, people we live in a nice area and graffiti should never be left at all. But, I guess even management can be of a lower quality who are not concerned with keeping up an image of a professional, high standard company. So disappointed!! I work near this Safeway and that is the only reason I come to it. And I got there for specially 2 reasons, 1) chicken strips & 2) 2 pack chocolate chip cookies. 90% of the time they NEVER have these 2 things when I go in. Well today was my lucky-ish day! Chicken strips (but still no cookies. Tear). I went to check out, the cashier was extremely rude and rushed. She made zero eye contact, did not utter one word of greeting or otherwise. Was not mindful in the least of how she was bagging my groceries. The only time she looked up at me was when I said thank you a bit aggressively to get her attention. Still nothing. I get back to my office, ready to indulge in some tasty chicken, and thankfully I pull my food apart and don't just bite directly into it. The inside of my chicken was green! Betrayal! I nearly barfed, but held it together long enough to snap a pick. I honestly don't think I will ever step foot in this store again and I don't recommend you do either. read more

I always come to Safeway for my children's cakes. Never had any problem until yesterday. My sons cake was a disaster. Picked it up it was ruined so they had to find a cake decorator to fix it. On top of that the writing didn't even match the description I told them over the phone. Me and my coworker had the greatest experience today at this Safeway. We ran in and out to grab some lunch on our very short lunch break and a very nice cashier checked us out even when he was closed. HE said he would take me no problem and once I checked out I forgot to grab myself a drink and he said it was fine to grab one and he would check me out again. I then called my coworker who was in the other line, long line, and he said to me that it would be fine too to have him come to his cashier. He was such a gentleman and put our needs first before his. I wish I had noticed his name because I would have loved to mention him in my review as well let his manager know that he went above and beyond. Thank you Mr. Friendly Cashier. Me and my husband have been going to this Safeway for over 5 years. We love this grocery store and everyone that works there. It took us a while to find a grocery store that had everything we needed and helpful employees. There is a cashier there name (Mikaela) she is very sweet, always greets us with a big beautiful smile and always seems happy to be helping out customers. The food options suck and I would rather go to Whole Foods or Berkeley Bowl...even Raleys, but those places are too far away. The workers are rude even the manager. This Safeway was my go to store until now. Went shopping on Saturday 11/2/2013. Waited at Customer Service counter for what appeared to be 5 to 7 Min's. No employees bothered to stop and ask if I have been helped. Keep in mind, the customer service counter is in the front of the store for all to see. It appears to me that managements policy is, profit margins are increased with minimal staffing levels. I will not spend another dime at this Store. Raileys on Travis, here I come. Place is a nitemare!!!!! 12 Aisles and only 2 are ever open. Don't go from 3pm-7pm, it will take an hour just to check out!!!!!!!!!

My 1 star rating is for the bakery. We ordered a birthday cake for my son's birthday and when we went to pick it up they couldn't find it or any record of the order. While waiting over an hour of them "looking" for it before finally giving us a different crappy cake, two other people had their orders messed up as well. My husband was late to our son's party because of it. Additionally, when I was placing the order for the cake, the same thing was happening for someone else (they couldn't find the cake). They also can only do exact designs from their book which is a little disappointing. read more

This store is Consistently understaffed. They desperately need to get self-check kiosks. Always add 10-15 min. to your shopping trip for the checkout time. Why don't they always have 3-4 registers open? There are people sitting around talking in the customer service desk, while only two checkers slog through long lines of customers. The sandwich counter would be amazing except they often only have one person working it. Too bad they are the only grocery store in the area, with no competition, people HAVE to go there, but honestly the 10 min. it takes to drive to Raileys on Travis might be worth sparing the frustration. read more

They are so lucky that there is no option to get a zero. After an absolutely exhausting day I had to make my last trip to Safeway to pick up my nieces 10th birthday cake. Around 6:30/6:45 I walked in and spoke to the bakery to pick up the cake I was under the impression that the cake was paid for so when the Baker told me to have a great evening and place the cake in my basket I started to head for the door with my one -year-old screaming in the process. Before I even got close to the door I was stopped by some lady from the deli I suppose screaming at me saying I have to pay for the cake in the most rude manner I have ever experienced in my life. I told her that the cake is been paid for and I didn't have to pay for it she started to tell me it wasn't paid for and I had to pay for right now blah blah blah. I told her I would go to the baker to make sure that that was the case and if it was that I have no problem paying for it. So I did I went to the baker and asked and we went through the paperwork and found out that my brother had in fact not paid for it. I started to make my way for the front to the cashier to pay for the cake when I was stopped by the manager asking me was there a problem. Now I'm mad because now there is a problem there wasn't a problem in the beginning this lady stop me because she assumed I didn't have a receipt assumed I was trying to steal a cake and now has called the manager when the manager didn't need to be called so as I'm explaining everything to the manager and asking why the deli lady is even having anything to do with the bakery now the manager is apologizing profusely because it's a situation that I'm being attacked for my race now I'm very upset the manager then take me to the front and the customer service department allows me to pay for the cake and explain she's very sorry for the situation that had happened and she would be sure to speak to the lady who had no right to say anything to me at all. I will never shop at the Safeway ever and after reading the other reviews it seems like I wouldn't want to anyways! read more

This store has the worst service of any Safeway I've ever been in. Shelves are nicely stocked but customer service at the registers and the lines to get to the register are ridiculous. Manegement you need to kick it up 3 notches. The cashiers know the lines are long 6 to 10 but you have to ask them to please call up other cashiers. Meanwhile in the smoked out glass room at the front the employees hang out and stare at you from inside. I've seen multiple videos taken by angry customers. Stating there contacting corporate. I had a terrible experience at this Safeway yesterday. For some reason this Safeway has $14 alcohol locked up. I have never had a problem with this in this past because normally I press the doorbell, someone arrives and hands me my one bottle of vodka, and allows me to continue my shopping. Yesterday I pressed the button and clerk arrived and immediately I could feel something was off. He stared at me and asked me twice "how many do you want?" I repeated myself and said "just one, thank you." He then refused to allow me to put a $14 bottle of Absolute vodka in my cart while I went to get strawberries and cookies that I forgot. He held the bottle away from me and said "you can't put this in your cart, it needs to be held at the Customer Service counter." I was in shock! I have a cart full of $100 worth the groceries and you think the only thing I am going to steal is a cheap bottle of Vodka! I have asked for the same bottle many times in this store and no one has ever made me do that! Image my horror when I was checking out and the man behind me had an $80 dollar bottle of alcohol!! I will never again come to this store, and I will tell everyone I know to never enter this store again. read more

Bathroom was below a third world country. I judge a place by their bathroom. I went their on Friday and "had" to use the bathroom. It looked like no one had "cleaned" the place in years. Besides the paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor, the corners of the floor had built up grim and the walls have things dried on them. The bathroom needs to be pressure washed or sand blasted. Plus when I went to check out there were over 25 people in line and only 2 cashiers. Plus the employees looked like they could care less, that is a sign of unhappy employees and bad management. I will never go back. read more
