The Safeway closest to me closed down and this is now the only Safeway in Federal Way. I haven't visited this location much but it seems like they have a well-maintained and managed store as the employees in every section are efficient at what they do, the store is stocked well and no other issues that I can think of. We are able to get our groceries in a good time which is great as I don't like when stores have aisles that don't align with what they say. But never had that issue here. We also did do an online pick up and it went perfectly well except they were out of one item I wanted but the process was simple and easy. The staff here have been courteous and friendly, helping us whenever we have a question or issue at the self-check out. The prices here are good and if you have the app, then it's even more helpful in helping you save. My boyfriend and I have been recently shopping Safeway in recent years and it has helped a lot for our grocery and diet needs. read more

What a ghetto! Had to stop there to look for something I wanted. Felt like I was taking my life in my hands. Can't say one good thing about the store or its "clientele". I use to stop be this Safeway on my way home after work until today. Robert at the seafood department was completely rude and out of line. My visit was on 6/11/2020, I had a wonderful experience in the deli department with Steph, she was very polite and greeted my roommate and I. She was cheerful and had a smile. Usually the help seems frazzled and not always happy but Steph really brought on the guest service this day. My roommate had a couple packages of Safeway Select summer sausage that they wanted sliced and Steph happily sliced after purchase. It was a bit difficult due to keeping the protective layer on and it took her a little time to slice both but she was patient and also acknowledged a waiting guest, which I like employees to do. It makes the wait better as a customer. So top notch deli service today at the meat and cheese counter! read more

Used to be my favorite Safeway but has seriously gone down in the last 5 years. HAD to write a review specifically for their Deli because it's so bad now. Service is hit or miss. The Asian deli - wow food is horrible and I'm embarrassed for them. And they give you much less of it now. Don't waste your time coming here for Asian deli go elsewhere. Today I took two vaccines, flu and covid here on 09/03/2024. The pharmacy was short of staff so I had to wait about thirty minutes. So my rating would be 2 or 3 stars. But when I did grocery shopping after shots and had some issues with self payment system, Kristi's help got me out of trouble. She is a patient, hard-working, kind and smart staff in this Safeway store. Without pharmacy staff shortage, the rating could be five stars. read more

Pint-sized Ice cream is locked up at the Safeway on 320th Street. The manager told me that store is the number 2 store in the nation for shoplifting. But ice cream? The baby food and cigarettes and booze are all locked up. I get that. Two different clerk have lamented the high rate of shoplifting there, watching helplessly as criminals leave the store with baskets of groceries. Then there is the 'meat' department: It is manned by trolls--a couple of middle-aged men who are always pissed off. They resent answering questions. The manager won't care about the indifferent behaviour of these men because she is a short-timer after many years at this store. She is headed for retirement, she told me. I have been shopping at this store for 8 years and will continue to shop there, hoping the place can be re-energized with new management. The model Safeway presents to the community--against the backdrop of other choices for shopping in the area--is one of just getting by. I'm sure this is a difficult business these days. I went into the Safeway store in Federal Way to buy a 12 pack of Rainier Beer and they wanted $16.99 for the Beer I left the store and went to Total Waine an bought the same 12 pack for $11.99 and I guess you could say this is price gouging at its best. read more

I ordered two cakes for a birthday event. When I got to the location and opened the box, the frosting had fallen off a third of the round cake. It was a cool day and the frosting did not melt, it just did not adhere properly to the cake. Some of the frosting also fell off the sheet cake, but that happened later in the event after we already had cut into the cake, so it wasn't a huge deal. I did go back and talk to a store manager and while she was sympathetic, it was obvious she didn't really care and didn't offer to make things right. I will not be back. read more

I placed an order for a tres leches cake at the beginning of May for the 23rd with a picture and and design and I get a call from the lady who by the way had absolutely no manners whatsoever today (the 22nd) to tell me that their printing machine is broken. Yes, not a good store to go to. Safety issues on the parking lot, drug dealing day and night, Deli is not up to par with other Safeways we visited. It is hard for me to understand the idea that i pay same price in other, much nicer, cleaner stores that provide better tasting food items (see deli) . Yesterday i saw two (2) kids, age 12 or so riding BMX bikes INSIDE the store, they dropped their bikes in front of the deli counter and walked around inside.... Did i say INSIDE the store? , i did, didn't i.... there used to be some staff how enjoyed working in a grocery store but i assume they left for other greener pastures, this place is a mess, i wish clowns would work here, at least that would make it fun to go to.... instead it is a sad sad place. i just transferred my meds to another chain, so i have no need to visit here... read more

Worst Starbucks in this safeway, rude employee. WE ordered coffee and pastries this morning, She served us food from the DISPLAY CASE which is so disgusting ,she also made our coffee's so sloppy, slammed doors which fell off,threw the food on the counter like we were dogs. We had to throw away the food for fear of food poisoning . We spoke to the manager "Jeff" about it and he said their employees that work at the Starbuck kiosk are Safeway employees. He handled the situation OK But it's not alright to treat customers like animals if YOU don't have the skills to control yourself then they should not hire people like that ! This is by far the worst experience we've had and especially from a Starbucks/Safeway. We will do ourselves a favor and not return here! read more

This Safeway has always been a decent store to shop in. They usually have what I'm looking for and usually have carts or hand baskets available. Their store clerks are usually pretty helpful and friendly. Since I've been living in this area for over 20yrs we've seen the comings and goings of different clerks, some we got to know as well. This location knows how to hire good workers or they just get attracted to this location lol The inside is usually pretty clean and organized. The biggest downsides are the prices. Everyone knows Safeway as a whole have pretty pricy, but good quality, products. So, we're paying for the good stuff *shrugs* Then the panhandlers/willingly homeless people that like to try to gain sympathy from those coming and going inside or by the store. It's a nuisance and I remember how this wasn't the case some years ago. The only ones who'd stand outside are girl scouts with cookies and people with petitions. Basically people with a purpose. I had a wonderful experience shopping at this location. I needed to run in and grab something in the evening and was helped by a young lady named Cyndie. I believe she spelled her name different from most, but that is not what stood out about her. I had a long day and was feeling beat and she was very polite and uplifting. She was very helpful and I appreciate people like her. Especially after a long day. I really would not want to deal with somebody that is grumpy or had a long day themselves. read more

This particular Safeway needs to have the Federal Way police department. They need to patrol their parking lot a lot more often because there's a lot of people that think they can use the handicap parking with out the handicap license plate or the placard hanging from their mirror. read more

Minnie was amazing, she helped me with a balloon request at 11:30 at night! She was very friendly and helpful! This is my go to Safeway near my home. There another one a few minutes from where I live but this Safeway seems larger and more variety! They also have a Starbucks inside so you can get some coffee while you are shopping! Not my favorite Safeway I try extremely hard to avoid this Safeway in particular. The lines are always long and they usually only have 2-3 lanes open. It seems as though the people at this Safeway are a bit rude. Not the employees but the customers. The plus side of this Safeway for some is that they have a pharmacy so that works for people in the area I guess. The parking lot is always full and police always driving through. I think the best part of this Safeway is the gas portion. read more

I came here last night to buy a bus pass. The girl at the customer service counter told me they were sold out. I asked her if they were really sold out or if someone else could come and help me get one. She just stared at me for a minute then said to go to the other Safeway in Federal Way. I asked her if she knew for a fact they had bus passes before I drove over there, and she said yes. Luckily, they had them, but they didn't know what they were doing. I use to come to this Safeway for the pharmacy in 2011 but after 6 months of the prescriptions being filled wrong, not being filled on time, and/or the pharmacy charging the wrong amount, I left. I'm not a fan of Safeway in general because they are overpriced. read more

This is one of the Safeway's that's relatively close to where I live. Not the closest, but not too far to make me complain about driving to it. Let me just start off by adding to what Nancy C. said. If this Safeway is one of the more recently remodeled Safeway's it sure as heck doesn't look like it. The brick exterior is not working & ugly to look at. On to the review of the store however. I usually come here when I'm making small grocery trips. That'll change once they build the Safeway gas station that's planned for this location. I usually am able to pretty much find what I need without a problem. The aisles are pretty big for a Safeway. They have a huge produce section FYI. You'll find what you need here. The deals are pretty good if you have a Safeway card. It's free to sign up for one, so it's totally on you if you're not taking advantage as a consumer. Service is friendly. I wouldn't call it speedy. It's just average. The store is kept clean. Parking isn't a problem, because the parking lot is huge. FYI: As of 7-8-11 the area that the Safeway gas station will be located in has been fenced off, along with markings, etc on the ground. Construction is about to start on it. Yesss!! This is great seeing as how areas like Auburn, Kent, Seattle, Shoreline, etc have at least one Safeway gas & Federal Way has zero! This will be the first. Finally I won't have to drive so far for gas. Enjoy when it arrives people! read more

I want to give accolades to the management of the 320th Safeway. I know it was getting rough entering and exitting the store and sometimes I would just pass going. The last three times I have gone, there is a new security guard who is very active, warm and inviting. I no longer am scoping out to see if I feel safe going in by myself. Worst Safeway I have visited ever! Rude staffs in pharmacy and none of them was respecting their customers. I went there yesterday to ask for a refill and the pharmacist was keep gossiping with her assistant while they were checking my ID. Seriously? They thought I am weak on talking or listening? Come on, please stop gossiping about me in front of me ok? The name of the pharmacist was Heather and the assistant was an Adrian American female and I strongly believe that they were the WORST STAFFS EVER! I usually visit the one in Auburn instead of this one in Federal Way. But I forced to get my refill here as the Safeway in Auburn was closed and I needed to get my refill so badly. What I like about this Safeway: -They recently renovated the inside, so it's nice, well-organized, and well-stocked. -There is a gas station nearby with well-priced gas. -It's a Safeway. I like Safeway. What I don't like about this Safeway: -No self check-out line. During non-busy hours (early in the morning, for me), I have been stuck behind 4 customers with only one person working the check-out lines, not sure if I'd be able to make it to work on time. I have also had to look for a Safeway employee to check me out, because no one was working the check-out lines when I was ready to make my purchase. There was a bell for me to ring, but if you're on the other side of the store, can you really hear it? Evidently not. read more

This is a pretty average Safeway. One from the days past that they brought into the current branding. Not sure the exterior is as "horrible" as others have mentioned, seems pretty normal. Perhaps, since it doesn't look like the sterile business/condo look that this country has stooped to makes it ugly, who knows. Glad to see that they got a gas station, I used to always get gas at Safeway, until I lived practically next to Costco, which is where I fill up now out of convince, I don't even know if the prices compare. This store always has fresh produce and their meat is of good quality. Honestly just disappointed in Safeway upper management/corporate. There has been nothing done regarding all the theft , muggings, and fighting that takes place in and outside of there property. The employees have completely gave up and don't care. They all have horrible attitudes and keep saying they can't do anything. Step up Safeway get security and protect your store. This is a great place to go if you're in no rush or on any time schedule whatsoever. I can't tell if they're extremely understaffed, or just lazy. It's a shame because there are workers that are always working hard. Passed a women grinding up weed on my way into the store. I'd like to take a moment out and thank Ikuko in the bakery for her over-the-top customer service. I went in on Saturday morning to pick up one of their normally stocked specialty cakes. Ikuko informed me that they were short on help and wouldn't have it out until later in the afternoon. After telling her that my daughter wanted that specific cake for her birthday cake. After some checking and talking to a couple people, she told me she'd have it for me in time. Then to top it off, she called me a couple hours later telling me that it was ready to go. Anyone who has shopped at a Safeway knows that it is the slowest grocery store in town. This particular Safeway makes every other Safeway look fast. I spent over 20 minutes in line with a total of eight items to get checked out. There were only four people in front of me, and not one of them had more than 20 items. Each and every person in line in front of me challenged their bill. It's a grocery store. The groceries ring up or they don't. If you have a situation after you have paid, can you go to customer service. Nope. Every last one of them hit up the perhaps 17-year-old cashier for changes to their bill. Then, when they finally opened extra check stands, they did not take the people who had been waiting in line 1st. So brand-new people were able to quickly jump through the line at two new open checkstands, while I waited . . . and waited . . . and waited to purchase my eight items. I only recently moved to this neighborhood, and this was my first experience at this Safeway. Although I realize that Safeway is not responsible for the poor behavior of its customers, there must be some issue going on for every single person to challenge their bill. In addition, were the store correctly managed, people who had been waiting in line would be the first people brought to a newly opened checkstand. Needless to say, I will never shop at this grocery store ever again. If I have to I will drive to Redmond rather than shop here. read more

Had an order in advance for a Hello Kitty birthday cake. Just got a call today (the Birthday is tomorrow) saying they don't have Hello Kitty. I am not upset they didn't have it but more upset they let me know only a day before the birthday. It's something they should have made sure they had at least a few days before making the cake. I was lucky Albertsons had it and is able to make it on short notice. A similar situation happened to my sister in law, I don't know if it was this Safeway or another one. She ordered a Tinkerbell cake and on the day of the birthday when she picked it up, they didn't make the same Tinkerbell cake she ordered. They told her they didn't have it and made a different one. They never called her to let her know, because she had no time to look anywhere else..she had to buy the cake she didn't order. I would go somewhere else for birthday cakes. read more

Honestly, if I could give half a star, I would. It's quite sad and pathetic that customers have to go out and get their own carts, because their courtesy clerks don't do their job. Instead of doing their job, they stand around and talk to other clerks and courtesy clerks, or walk out to their cars and disregard they are being paid to do a job. Even walking in their parking lot has became similar to walking around a trash site. Beer bottles laying around. Used and unused condoms laying around. We were VERY pleased with our shopping trip to store #1555 yesterday, Nov. 29, 2021. We found EVERYTHING we needed (and then some)! We had a raincheck for Signature Select bread, along with two "Just 4 U" coupons for the same item. We did the "self check out" and JULIE helped us with the sale items by doing all the math! She was quick, efficient and even loaded some of our scanned items into our cart for us! After paying. we stepped over to the Starbuck's area and got our usual caramel ribbon fraps. DAVID waited on us and my husband and I both remarked on our way home how they tasted better than ever! They seemed thicker and tastier than we can recall from past purchases. We have shopped at Safeway for years and probably is where we are the most comfortable shopping BUT things are changing and our loyalty may go with it. First of all I hate their new on-line coupon program. Who sits down at the computer before they go shopping and checks off 100+ items to add them to their "club card" to get a discount I thought the advantage of the "club card" was you didn't have to coupon cut. Also how come you no longer have an advantage at the Safeway Gas station - you use to get .03 off the price - not any more? Add to that - they changed the store - put products in different places - and we (plus I have heard from others) can't find anything. Yes - in time we will figure it out by why do we have to. Next complaint is the express lanes. I am tired of having 10 or so items and get behind the person that just completed their monthly shopping in the 15 or less lane. Safeway encourages this two ways - 1. If no one is in that lane - the cashier will tell the people at the end of the next line to come over. (Wrong in two ways - first why at the end and not the next person and second - if they have more than 15 items they should not be there) and 2. I have had the manager tell me that if the express line is smaller - feel free to get into it no matter how many items you have - really. Finally how come if we shop in the evening we don't get the same service as the day time shoppers? If you shop during the day you get your groceries bagged - at night - sometimes you do and sometimes you don't but they never offer the "bag your own grocery discount" Safeway prices are fair - you can do better - but if they are doing it right - the service is great. I love that they thank you for shopping by saying Mr. /Mrs. rather than thinking I am their friend and using my first name. Their products are fresh and this store looks clean and nice. read more

Prices are better than QFC and maybe some other places. This Safeway is kind of dingy looking inside and out though. The produce is fresh and they maintain it well. I'm not huge on driving around or searching ad's for the best price. I just go where it is convenient most of the time. It is a waste of my time and gas to drive around looking like some people do... This location is convenient because it is right on the main road and on most peoples' way home. I'm giving it two stars only because there service isn't great and because the place looks pretty bad. read more

Stopped by here yesterday to pickup some flowers and a gift card for gfs mom birthday. The florist was a a little rude at first when I asked her about adding two different bouquet of flowers with some greens together. After explaining to her that I would pay extra the couple dollars for doing so she agreed, especially when I told her I have done it literally 20 plus times at multiple different Safeway locations. Unless a florist wasn't available I never had anyone say "we can't do that". While we was wrapping them together, I asked her where the gift cards were for purchase and first thing she said was "you can't pay for a gift card here". Clearly that wasn't what I asked. So I just paid paid for the flowers and told her ill be back in a few. Asked another employee about the gift cards and was pointed the right direction, definitely helped that next to us were 3 managers or corporate people being all dressed officially. Here is where the second star was lost. Needed a $100 gift card for Nordstrom and of course they did not have. They did have a $25 and $50 gift cards for Nordstrom. What the heck can you buy at Nordstrom for $25? Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Starbucks, Lowes, Home Depot, JcPennies, Kohls, (should I keep going?) and so many other stores had a gift card for a larger amount than $100 but not Nordstrom. If in the area and need a Safeway; will probably stop at this location but definitely won't make a first choice. read more
