I stopped by this Safeway on Southwest 336th Street in Federal Way yesterday, Friday 24 February 2023, for a donut and a sandwich. The parking lot was large and easy to navigate, the store large, and store sections easy to find. The donuts were at the back of the store near the deli and ready to go options section. I arrived around 9:40 a.m. and the donuts were picked over, but they still had the one I wanted, so I lucked out. Some sandwich offerings were already out, and I picked a London broil roast beef option. I checked out through self check-out, which was straight forward and had a friendly worker. The deli employees are so rude. I came in around 2 PM for lunch. No other customers were in the deli. I tried to order food that was in the displace and the employee told me they were saving the food for other customers. I looked around and no one was there. i was confused and walk around the store which was near empty. I went to the deli again, and the employee told me to come back in an hour. What? I left. Thank God Fred Meyer's, and many other fast food options are available across the street read more

I love going to this particular Safeway. The groceries are always organized, I could get a cup of joe from Starbucks and also grab some chicken from the deli. The food is always fresh and the people at the deli are very helpful and friendly. I also love their flower selection here. Their arrangements are beautiful and the roses are always fresh! It's not as crowded compared to Fred Meyer but of course, groceries here are a bit pricier. read more

My stalkers friend pointed me out to a cashier and lied about what was going on before sitting back to see if the employee would cause me problems and put on a show for him. She was unfriendly towards me in response. Management chose to talk to her about it but even then she still was unfriendly so clearly management didn't resolve the issue. I chose to avoid this employee from then on. Management is also aware that my stalker and her friend use their stores eggs to vandalise my property yet even a year later they are still selling product to people who are going to commit crimes with it. It makes me upset with Safeway every time one of their eggs is plastered to my house despite the fact that there's not much that can be done to stop it. A new cashier was rude and inappropriate but Management witnessed it and resolved it without me needing to officially report it. I've gotten in a bad habit of oversharing my issues with my stalker due to venting about the fact that Safeway eggs are still being used on my house when it occurs. During the last time this happened I noticed the self checkout cashier and the new female bag lady talking to each other and constantly glancing at me like they were still in high school and were talking badly about someone. Probably not how staff should be behaving towards customers but my faith that management will change staff behavior is nonexistent. Today the employee I had been venting to due to the recent egging saw me come in and went on break while a manager decided to hover around me. Unless I'm mistaken Management has chosen to go after the customer for behavior resulting from staff and management being constantly innappropriate rather than fix the issues Safeway supports that caused the customers reaction. The good news is I've realized I'm over sharing and it's a problem so I can correct my behavior (I'm autistic so sometimes it takes me a little longer than it should to understand social behavior and what I need to change), the bad news is management seems to have decided to blame all the problems related to staff, management, and store policy on the customer and treat the customer as the problem instead of holding themselves accountable. Unfortunately this means I can't trust management to resolve issues appropriately any more now than they did a year ago when all this started because of my stalker and her friends involvement with this location. Which also means if I bring issues to their attention they will blame me instead of taking action to fix them. Ergo, posting about it. I wouldn't be angry and venting in the first place if so many inappropriate things in my life didn't revolve around your store and staff. A year of daily shopping at this location has proven that I am completely appropriate when you don't give me reason to be upset. read more

I switched to this Safeway in Fed Way due to a better section of produce. Yet this is a smaller Safeway and doesn't always have the items I need, things are easy to find and quick to get in and out. However, lately the produce has been getting picked over so I must be coming after the big rushes. The big things is they generally only have one register open (if even). The staff however keep pushing customers to use the self check out even when it is a week's worth of groceries when it definitely isn't going to fit in the bag scale. Around 2 pm the last Saturday, May 25th, the tall smiling guy in the self checkout section, was very helpful, smart, kind and even humorous. What else quality can I expect when I go shopping in a grocery store? He is a candidate of future manager or director for sure. read more

Today I went into this Safeway to drop off my Redbox videos and use the restroom. The staff was nice when I asked for the restroom. I get to the restroom and I'm appalled. Its DISGUSTING. Blood on the toilet seat and splattered right by where you grab your toilet paper. It looks like it hasnt been cleaned in months. NOT OK. I did tell a staff member behind the customer service desk and her friendly response was, Oh is it bad again? And she sent someone to go clean it. Im so irritated with the safeway deli here. I ordered from Doordash a mixed 8 piece chicken from them first thing in the morning, around 1130am and they are ALWAYS out of white meat chicken even though their website shows its available. I heard the manager on the phone with the dasher being very rude when he was trying to explain that the dark meat chicken is less expensive than the white meat and asked the manager how will they reimburse me the difference. Manager said that I could cancel the order. This is not just a one time occurance, this happens quite often with this Safeway location and they act like they just dont care. Instead of putting the chicken in the fryer and asking the dasher to wait they would rather upset a local resident to the point where I wont ever shop there again. I hope Kroger management makes changes to the staff at this failing store. read more

I came here last night to buy a bus pass. The only reason why I came here is because the only places to buy a bus pass in Federal Way are at the two Safeways in town. When I went to the customer service counter and asked to buy a bus pass, Kinesha looked at me then pounded on the door for her manager to come out and help her. The manager, Lyke, came out to help her and told me she didn't know how to process the purchase of a bus pass either. I watched them fumble around for 10 minutes to figure it out. Lyke apologized, saying she was new to the area from Portland and didn't know the bus system here. Still, she's a manager and should know how to do this. Kinesha never acknowledged me the entire transaction. This was my first and last visit to this Safeway. The parking lot is poorly lit. read more

We don't have very many grocery store options in Federal Way. We had a Metropolitan Market once upon a time, but it closed down due to slow business - no surprise being in Federal Way. This place is fine for my daily needs. I know where things are, and although they don't carry some of the more "ethnic" ingredients that I like to experiment with, it's great for other things. Safeway is pretty pricey for being an average chain grocer that doesn't carry anything special. The produce selection is very limited. There was no asparagus or fresh ginger root, among other common produce items that were missing. They don't offer a variety of bulk or fruit, either. This grocery store has been in the Twin Lakes part of Federal Way for a very long time, at least 40 years, at that time it was the only option for groceries, and seen Albertsons next door close its doors, and a Fred Meyer built about 20 years ago. In regards this Store, it seems to have been on a downslide, used to have workers that were prompt and courteous- but last time I was there wasn't to impressed with this store, sad to say that and hope they improve it. I do think for most part the store is clean and maintained, but I wasn't to impressed with the produce here, saw some mold on some the fruit so makes the think the produce person doesn't check the stuff to often and toss out things that need to be tossed out. read more

I came in to get a party tray for my boss last minute , I was told I had to order party trays 24 hrs in advance . The lady at the deli was kind enough to make me a very nice custom tray that I was very proud to take back to my boss ! I just thought it was very nice to receive that kind of customer service in this day and age , and she totally saved my booty ! read more

A small store, but makes up for it by being about 1/10th as busy as the store on 320th. I've always been able to find what I was looking for and the short wait times are a major plus since they don't have self checkout. I still prefer QFC and Whole Foods, but if you're in the area and in a pinch, this location will be able to take care of you. read more

I can't describe the feeling, when I came to the counter and asked for my thanksgiving dinner, "sorry but we are out of dinners" are you freaking joking? The manager is telling me, that I'm the second customer that pre-paid it's dinner and didn't get one. This is plain outrageous, and the only solution is I will refund your money, really? This Safeway is the "Wal-mart" of Safeways. What I mean by that is no matter how many people are in the store waiting in line, you can guarantee that there will only be one casher open. If you have 45 mins to spare just to get eggs and milk then this is the store for you. If not just go to the FredMyer across the street. read more

I used to live by this Safeway and the people there are super friendly and personable. During the time I have lived in Federal way I have really come to love this place. The layout of their merchandise is very well put as well. They keep their hot food fresher than any other Safeway I have ever been to. This is geared towards the deli in this Safeway. It really sucks when you pay $8 for deli pasta to come home and find every noodle is half hardened. They need to find a better way to keep their pasta from drying out when its in the cold cases the whole point is for the pasta to be edible so if you have to put saran wrap on it then put saran wrap on it. I've literally dug through this whole tub of pasta and almost every single noodle in it is dried out and not edible. $8 is a lot to pay for pasta that's dried out and unedible. read more

The bakery is a dump! Complained first to "manager" Roberta who literally rolled her eyes at me. Then went to "store manager" Emily who dismissed me and suggested I was being picky expecting them to have dairy free icing, despite the fact it's on their menu!! Their food quality and overall service has improved 10 fold over the past year. We started going there again and could trust the meat department now. The checkers are nice we have had some good experiences. Pepper got me a new recipe too. Most are good and personable people who make sure there is good customer service. read more

I bought some tooth brush tops not knowing if they would fit my tooth brush and the lady at the counter knew her products, she told me which ones would fit.Once I got home they fit perfectly. These employees know a little something about their work. read more

The stocking people need to do a little better of a job on keeping out of date stuff off the shelves I have purchased baby food here only to come home and find it's a year past also I sent My Dad in for broccoli earlier because He needed stamps anyways, He came back out with broccoli covered in black spots I can't blame him as He is partially blind so his attention to detail is off but this is only several instances of many where I have received food past the date or fruits and veggies that went bad right away (especially their salad) As for the staff they are all really friendly, there is one super friendly Lady that remembers everyone's name and makes sure she pronounces it right and some other friendly people working here (not the older lady with glasses oh My grouch) that keep Me coming back. read more

My order for Birthday cupcakes went bad 1 hour prior to my pick up time. I went to this Safeway bakery as I am new to the area. Lisa helped me and saved the party she was able to assemble 30 plus cupcakes and a special one for my sons special day in less than an hour. Amazing friendly fast service! read more

I ordered a Tinkerbell Funtastic (a three tier cake) a week before my daughter's birthday from this location. When I ordered the cake, I spent about 15 minutes talking to the baker and a staff about how I wanted the cake. When my husband picked the cake up, they gave him a plain white cake with no decorations stating "Happy Birthday..." I obviously was mortified considering I ordered a glamorous three tier Tinkerbell cake. Thus, my husband and I talked to the manager and we discovered that the staff who took my order did not record the kind of cake I ordered. I was furious because it was 30 minutes before the party started. The manager called another Safeway store and told me that they will make a regular Tinkerbell cake (because no one was qualified to make the three tier cake) and deliver the cake for my party for free. The manager was also kind enough to give me a $25 gift card. HOWEVER, I will not go back to Safeway to use the gift card because when they delivered my cake, it was the WRONG flavor and they MISSPELLED my daughter's name!!!! Obviously I did not discover it was the wrong flavor until we sang "happy birthday" and cut into the cake, and my daughter does not like vanilla!!! read more

This Safeway is in Federal Way, Not Seattle. It is the Worst grocery store ever! They always only have only one checker, and sometimes there is no one and they have this squeaky dog toy that is filthy with a hand written note that says "squeeze for service" (I kid u not)so the line is extraordinarily slow. Today I was in to get some chicken from the deli at 12:15pm and there was absolutely no one manning the deli. A very nice little lady was there ahead of me and says "I've been here over 5 minutes and no one is here". I told her, "I'll find someone". So I walk over and this woman is over there stirring their soup pots.. I asked her if we could get some help at the deli and I could tell that pissed her off, but reluctantly she mosied over and said there is someone else working over there. To which I responded, "not Now" So she waited on the lady ahead of me with just a piss poor attitude but when she hands the receipt to her gives the obligatory "have a nice day". Then it's my turn which was a carbon copy of the prior customer. I wonder if their corporate folks are satisfied with a store like that. Maybe they should look across the street and see Freddy's is jammed. read more

They have seven checkstands but I think only two of them work because there are never more than two cashiers. Every evening there are lines with 5 to 10 people and one or two cashiers. The lines get so long they go into the aisles. With Fred Meyer one block away I would think you would try and keep business. You can get out of line and go to Fred Meyer in the time it would take you to stand in line at this Safeway. read more

I stopped in today to check out their floral department. Completely dead in the floral dept with an older woman with a long grey ponytail was working behind the counter. She greeted me, but when I asked a question about the price of some ribbon on the marked down Christmas display, she was clearly irritated to be answering my question, so much so she felt the need to point at the price on the ribbon saying "that is the price, right there that's it" then ignored me when I asked if it was the marked down price. How RUDE. Clearly she felt very comfortable in her behavior even as I left the department telling her I was so sorry to have bothered her she made no attempt to redeem her awful attitude. No excuse EVER to treat a customer like that. Good thing she is probably protected by the union, she should be fired. I was a retail person for over 35 years, I have great respect for the profession, and always treat everyone in the service industry with respect. Horrible experience. I will not be back. Safeway used to be my favorite grocery store, but over the past few years I have really noticed a big difference in the customer service. The Twin Lakes Safeway has very long check out lanes comparable to Wal-Mart lines! The cashiers aren't friendly anymore. They aren't helpful whatsoever, the bags are of the cheapest quality and for some reason they won't double bag my stuff even when I ask and tell them I have 3 flights of stairs! When I worked for Safeway it was mandatory to greet customers and provide excellent customer service and employees seemed to take pride in being helpful. We were trained to bag groceries and double bag the heavy pickle jars. I don't even want to shop at any Safeways anymore because every time I stop at one because it's convenient, something always makes me a unsatisfied customer. Last night I ran through the 320th one and was charged for 2 bags of Buffalo wings even though I only bought 1. I have bought many things from the 50% off clearance shelf but have always been charged full price! They don't actually change the price in the system or cover the old Barcode like other stores. If the cashier doesn't see the orange sticker they charge you full price and they never see the orange sticker. And I hate that I can't get a sale price unless I go online and have the app. read more
