Trader Joe's in Federal Way is one of our favorite places to shop. The store is always clean, well stocked, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. The employees are consistently friendly, and the food is always fresh. We especially love their yogurt selection and all the fun snacks we always bring back home to Hawaii whenever we visit. I also wanted to give a special thank you to Felicia, who truly went above and beyond for my daughter, Chlea. We had been trying for a while to get one of the limited summer mini tote bags, but every time we came in, they were already sold out. One day we met Felicia, and after hearing about it, she kindly told my daughter she would try to save one for her. As a busy mom with a toddler, it took us several days before we could make it back to the store. What amazed me was that Felicia actually remembered us. She had even written Chlea's name on the bag she had set aside. The smile on my daughter's face when she finally received it was absolutely priceless. It wasn't just about the bag. It was the kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine care that Felicia showed. Moments like that leave a lasting impression, especially on a child. Thank you, Felicia, for making our visit so special. The Trader Joe's (aka Trader's Joe) tote bag is the ultimate pasalubong for 2026. It's the current treasured item in the balikbayan box. If someone in the barangay is walking around with one, they know it came from the US. That's how strong consumer influence is. The tote bag line tends to be longer in Federal Way and Kent. This is not surprising since Filipinos have lived in the south end (Algona, Auburn, and Kent) since the early 1900s. The community has grown since then. Everyone has a reason for standing in line. The bag drops are cultural moments. It's someone is sacrificing their time for the elders. It's a reunion of friends and family. It's having conversations with strangers. It's a social event. I've witnessed it, experienced it, and embraced it. The two employees managed the mini tote bag distribution pretty well. An excited ajumma tried to grab the bags Black Friday style. The first employee went into linebacker mode and protected the bags but also themselves. The secondary employee politely and respectfully spoke with the customer in their native language. I'm guessing the conversation was about the process because the customer paused and listened to him attentively. I'm surprised there isn't a TJ's in Renton or Southcenter. Just like in football, this is a missed opportunity. If I were living in a state or country that didn't have a TJ's, I'd do a shopping haul before getting on the plane at Sea-Tac. read more

Im so impressed at how they handled the tote bag releases. Super organized. The staff is always helpful and cheerful. The store is typically well stocked and is always clean. The selection is great even with their season items. They have so many things that are my favorite here from the whipped feta, hot honey, lemon stuffed olives to frozen diners and snack items. The shopping center the store is located is always busy, so parking is never easy, especially during lunch time. The store itself is spacious and well-stacked. The staff is always helpful, and someone always answers the phone. Just FYI, the limit of the mini totes is always lower here (usually one of each color per household) read more

My go-to Trader Joe's! I stop here weekly for about 75% of our grocery list and I legitimately look forward to going. Oh, the things you get excited about as you get older... This Trader Joe's is always super well stocked and very clean. I have no problems finding everything I need here. I used to do all my grocery shopping at Fred Meyer, but I started shopping at TJ because the meat and produce prices are WAY cheaper than Fred Meyer! I save money here by doing most of the shopping here, and placing a small pick up order at Fred Meyer for whatever I can't find at TJ. As with most TJs, the employees here are always super kind and helpful. One of my favorite parts of coming to TJ is treating myself to flowers weekly! When I was up in Seattle for the weekend, I told my friend - Cory Y. if he could take me to a Trader Joe's so I could pick up a few things to take back home. We ended up checking out this Trader Joe's store in Federal Way. I must say it was a very busy store, but I'm so happy that I came here, as I found all the items that I was looking for. Shout out to the friendly TJ staff, as when I was looking for the coffee dept. and could not find the section I was looking for, a clerk led/pointed me out the way. It's Trader Joe's. I live in Fantasyland in hopes that a TJ will come to Yakima. In the meantime, trips to the West side of WA always include a stop at Trader Joe's. I always find new items as well as the go-to items like Vegetarian Tamales, Lemon Peel Olives, Olive and Herb Nuts... and much much more. The last visit also included fresh corn on the cob and all the ears were awesome. I also like picking up TJ cloth bags of which I have way too many. read more

Idk...it's like, no matter where I go, no matter what city I'm in, I always come back to this specific Trader Joe's. It's easy to navigate, the staff are impeccable, and the aisles have ample amount of space. It's obvious that they treat their employees great because there are staff there that have been there the entire 11-12+ years that I've been going to this Trader Joe's. Out of all of the years, I've only had a bad experience with 1 staff member and she no longer works there. Go figure. But this particular Trader Joe's is my go to for plants, sparkling strawberry juice, pizza dough, frozen goods and organic strawberries. I love exploring all the trader joes I can since I live in Hawaii and we don't have one. What a treat~ this one had my favorite goodies and smoothie. The layout was pretty good, the cashier was really nice and helpful to bag all my things with my own bag. The best part was the girl who was offering free coffee samples. I didn't want any samples but wanted to tell her she was beautiful and had a nice smile. It was radiating. A smile can bring more sunshine to people's lives. I hope she knows that. This Trader Joe's is my go to once a week. Sometimes they are out of the preassembled salad kits but mostly selection seems decently stocked. I usually buy the salads, their pink coconut water (currently out), bananas and scan their snack aisle for new products. Prices are not high, as with PCC and Whole Foods for organics. Selection is limited but usually consistent for certain items. My dog always loved the Trader Joe's stick treats and they were a good price. I will never forget the moment one of the employees gifted me a bundle of flowers after I bursted into tears when he was asking what my plans were for the weekend, as my dog had just passed away and I was scrambling to find a cemetery for my dog. I don't always go to Federal Way, but when I do I like to stop by this TJs since they sometimes have different products I can't find in Kent. This store is on the larger end and definitely one of the cleanest locations I've been to. You probably already know what Trader Joe's has going on. It's everyone's favourite funky grocery store. They never have any sales, but the prices are fantastic and you don't need them. They are smaller than a standard grocery store, meaning a smaller selection -- and that's exactly the way they like it! Keep it simple while also offering high quality items, some of which are seasonal and thus has a huge following. This particular location also has a separate lane for small orders, which is always nice and helps me get out and on my way faster! read more

Their marinated carne asada is my favorite. I've never had a bad taco night thanks to it. My kids devour their chewy bars, and anything else I buy from here. The quality is always at least a step ahead of any other grocery store. Stopped in yesterday to look at some items I'd seen reviewed on a few vlogging sites on YouTube. Hadn't been to a TJ's in some time. My initial impression was how clean the store appeared despite the large crowd of shoppers. And the flowers seen upon entering sets the mood. The workers, when questioned about a product, were only to happy to physically walk me to where the item was. Another observation, everyone in the store, be it shoppers and workers, we're smiling. What a refreshing aura. Another reason for the visit was to get ideas as to costs in preparing meals. Nearly all items, especially frozen selections, were priced quite reasonably and came in portions just about right for two people. It's just my wife and I at home and we're trying to cut back on waste (& left overs in the refrigerator). We're also comparing the availability of foods we like vs meals we've received from Hello Fresh & Home Chef (trial period only). We've calculated that delivered meals run about $9.00+ per meal. TJ's offers better prices overall and greater variety. Sorry for the lengthy review, but obviously TJ's has got a good thing going. Great asset to the Federal Way community. read more

We decided to come in here to check out what we could get for a charcuterie board. Upon walking in we noticed how beautiful all the flowers were & how busy it was. The parking is pretty bad depending on which day you go on. There's everything here, and the prices are reasonable. I ended up cancelling some of my target orders because it was just much cheaper here. Will be back for more groceries! read more

Federal Way's location of Trader Joe's is my favorite ! Customer Service is great -- I asked them for my favorite trail mix crackers and was really nice to lead me right to them. I would recommend going on weekdays in the morning or early afternoon because weekends can get busier and sometimes they are out of stock on some things! Lines are usually short and typically not too crowded or loud. I've been a customer of Trader Joe's Federal Way for over 20 years. Today I experienced something I never thought would happen in Trader Joe's or almost any store. I was checked out by a worker who was very sarcastic with me when I asked if they could put the frozen stuff in one bag. I was so shocked I could barely get out of the store without tearing up. Unfortunztely I think maybe something had happened prior to my Checking out and my request was seen as obvious. and stupid. I worked in the service industry for 35 years and would have been severely disapplined for speaking and treating a customer the way I was I won't get over this for awhile but it won't stop me from shopping there as it is a very well run business. read more

I really need to make this known-this Trader Joe's just did some serious customer service recovery and I am just in awe how everything was handled. I shopped there on a Wednesday, left with three full bags and went on about my errands. When I got home I went crazy thinking what the heck happened to my meats?!! Chicken, salmon, beef, pork, almost $40 worth of meat nowhere to be found. I was so upset, bc I live 40 min away from the store and did not plan on going back for a few weeks. I immediately called and spoke with a manager, Louie, and he confirmed they had the bag of meat. He told me they could hold onto the items or do a refund. I explained I wouldn't be able to go back for a few days, he said no problem at all! Well I made it back there a couple days later and when I went to customer service, Corinne already knew about my situation and quickly got me to a register for a refund. She was sincerely apologetic and said they've spoken to their team about this and y'all, that's not it. I finished the transaction and was walking to my car when she runs up to us in the rain with flowers in hand. She apologized again and gave me the flowers, WHAT A SWEET GENUINE GESTURE. Corinne deserves to be recognized for going out of her way to make up for the mishap. I appreciate and love TJ's even more now!!! read more

I come to Trader Joe's often mainly the one in Capital Hill since it is closer to my work place. I visited this one in Federal Way about 2 days ago right after work, no complaints. Today I had oral surgery so I needed to pick up a couple soft food items to eat while I recover, when I walked by the sample stand the first noticed what he was offering and the man gave me a dirty look when after I passed by. I came back around grabbed a sample that my daughter could have while going to the next isle since she was being very loud, after picking her sample the man who was running the stand, cursed at me and threw the sample that was next to it (I never touched the other sample) in the trash very aggressively and noticeable to me and other shoppers as if I did. I was already super embarrassed and in excruciating pain, everyone else who passed the man he said "hello" or gave a head nod & that's when I noticed I was the only shopper besides another woman in the store who was African American. For someone to that made me feel very ashamed and like I wasn't welcome in that setting and more of a burden. I'm a health care professional, I work in a health care setting and because I wasn't all dressed up, I got treated terribly. Maybe the staff should not judge a book by its cover, you never know what people are going through and everyone should be treated equally regardless of the color of their skin, the clothes on their backs! It is 2024 and people are still not considerate of the people around him. I don't think I will be returning to this location and I hope in the future a employee never treats ANY shopper like that regardless of their background because you don't know that person from a can of paint! I'm very disappointed in his response if he felt as if he needed to toss it, why curse at me and make a seen to make me look bad or unsanitary. read more

For the first time in my history of going to Trader Joe's, in many different cities and states, I was shocked when a cashier said she doesn't bag groceries and made my 90 year old mother bag her own groceries while I was in another line at the time. What was even more strange was when I came over to bag it for her, that cashier was at the next station bagging someone else's groceries! Weirdest experience I've ever had in a TJ's. Came to Trader Joe's to shop lightly on 11/18, parking was the biggest frustration. Mainly came for light meals and went away with two bags of food. Found everything that I needed. Lots of things for the holiday, but I am not cooking this year. I got in line and then saw someone that had a customer leaving and nobody in line so I hopped over and was assisted very quickly. I asked her to off-set the packing of the bags so that they were even on the weight. She obliged me. Other issue is trying to get out and leave. Overall store and stock was in good condition my main thing about coming here is the parking lot. read more

I come here often but haven't reviewed it yet. I was prompted to add this five star review based on MS's previous review. I've found they are taking COVID extremely seriously, and are definitely limiting numbers in the store. I wasn't there and I believe MS's experience, but it might have been an isolated event. The staff is extremely friendly, the wine guys are helpful and knowledgeable, the variety of easy to go salads is amazing. I've added about 10 regular meals to my rotating schedule just because of this store and their product placement. I actually haven't been to a single TJ's with a good parking situation, and this one is a large open lot. It's okay to walk a few extra yards people! The store is definitely on the smaller side so it helps to have a strategy and some patience. But I wouldn't ding this store and review it badly for those reasons. Convenience, low pricing, excellence of products and amazing staff adds up to 5 stars in my book. I'd much rather come here than the multiple Safeway and Grocery Outlet options that are closer to me. read more

After many many more experiences here, my thoughts in this Trader Joe's got way better. The employees here (and many others) are very warm and nice. They clearly have a nice dynamic with each other. I like how they recommend other foods and comment on how they like the food too. Sometimes they give you tips on how to cook it to ensure you get the best results. I've had a couple mishaps on my purchases (food that was already expired when I bought it, broken containers, etc.) and they also do an exchange no questions asked. Everything is always clean and organized. This Trader Joe's is usually well stocked. I call sometimes to see if they have something I was in stock or if a new item/product had come in, and they're very friendly and detail on when they'll get the stock. Their covid response has been great and diligent-- making sure folks wear masks, limited number of folks inside the stores, wipes on hand for baskets/carts, etc. read more

Preparing for a long road trip with my grandkids, I stopped into Trader Joe's for snacks. I ran across an employee who was arranging shelves and asked for recommendations. Sophie was so helpful. She recommended a variety of not-too-messy snacks. My favorites were the fruit leather buttons trail mix and sesame sticks. Sophie also told us about your vegan marshmallows and recommended your brand of chocolate bars and graham crackers for campfire smores. They were a hit! read more

COVID-19 - Today was the first day I visited TJ in about a 15 days, which for me is a lot. During normal times I am at TJ almost daily, trying to figure out dinner. I called them on Friday evening asking about the supplies and when would be the best time to come shop. I assume I am not the only one who called, but they were nice, cheerful and helpful like always. This morning when I got there around 0900, there were about 15 people in line waiting to get inside. The line was very well managed, the employees outside were friendly, had hand sanitizers and wipes. Even the patrons in line seemed to be in a cheerful mood despite the current situation. They were letting in 5 guests in at a time and recommending each guest only get two of any one item. It was nice to see that the patrons were obliging and being civil. Inside it felt calm, clean and the usual TJ (this location) vibe. The shelves are still a little empty but they are handling this with compassion and cheerfulness. I have been to many TJ at multiple locations and this one by far is my favorite. It's the people who work here who make it such a welcoming place. I hope their management sees and recognizes the unique group of employees they have. read more

True to Trader Joe's tradition of tasty, healthy, and cost effective food with friendly helpful staff. We stopped here to pick up provisions for 5 days in Mt Rainier National Park. The individual salads are awesome, fresh and convenient. The cheese selection is diverse and yummy. Beers and soda. Snacks and chocolates. Yogurt and berries. Everything we needed to take hiking to snack on and lunch as well as some parfait for breakfast.
