One of the worst Safeways I have ever been too. Employees are gross and always just standing around and doing nothing. Deli workers smelled and we were waiting to order food with 7 deli employees just standing there doing nothing and and employee cut the whole line and got served before everyone else and just talked while we all waited. Have not been to Safeway in years (we don't have one close to us). We live in a small town and closest one is 35 miles away. I understand that they are really the only nationwide chain in town but wish they had more fresh food do and veggies. The deli was quite nice, bakery and that is were spent the most for our weekend. I mean we got them ( good thing I didnt send the Freddy's order off I guess), )but not handled great. Sigh. Edit/Update: One time not long ago, when our order was delayed I called the store and lovely Caitlin was super nice to me and helped me figure it all out. We got our groceries late but we still got them. So tonight 12/15/25 when I called at 7:20pm, our delivery was over an hour late, I was hoping for a similar experience. I think I spoke to 2 guys or one guy twice, but whoever it was (Nick?) proclaimed repeatedly that "Safeway does not deliver!!", he doesn't know who does it, and I would have to figure it out myself. He also very helpfully told me he shops for his own groceries and takes them home himself. Ok buddy. Well, I have cancer and cannot do that right now. So I contacted a live chat person and he said he called the store, they no longer deliver, and he cancelled our order. I hope that dude enjoys putting back our 45 grocery items. Going shopping is too peopley/germy for me. It is cheaper to obtain groceries through the Safeway app with a membership than it is through Instacart or Door Dash. It is still not cheaper like Winco, Walmart, or Grocery Outlet and they sometimes do not have things in the store at all, or are out of stock, or they will cancel your order completely if they are understaffed or too busy to pull your order or don't have a driver. They will cancel abruptly. That one's frustrating because the app doesn't hold onto your list, I don't think. If it does I haven't figured it out. Mostly the overall experience is ok. Order a day ahead of when you want stuff, use your membership, click the coupons ( this does not always work, you have been warned) and don't expect a lot of help from the chat support - they promise to reimburse ( like for the 4 way way expired yogurts they gave me, or the .50 off all produce items they didn't give me, or they asked me to screenshot all the items that were not discounted one at a time," no Im not doing that Colorado Daniel, I will just sacrifice my $25"). But one time our groceries were 3 hours late and a manager sent us a small much appreciated surprise gift card to ease the pain which was nice). Overall the choices in town are somewhat limited. I miss the easy Freddy's, Trader Joe's, Uwajimaya, Costco, and New Season's access that I had in Portland. I miss trendy, special seen on Instagram foods. This was one of the worst grocery shopping experiences I've had. As soon as I walked into the store, there was a very strong odor that reminded me of dirty diapers. The smell made it difficult to shop, and the store itself didn't seem very clean. Customer service was also disappointing. I asked three different employees for help finding an item, and all three ignored me or were unwilling to help. I found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful. To make matters worse, there was only one cashier open around 9:00 a.m., even though the store was busy. The self-checkout line was backed up, and the line for the single cashier was extremely long. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes just to check out, which is unacceptable. I hope management addresses the cleanliness, customer service, and staffing issues because this experience did not meet even basic expectations. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

Visited this location while spending the weekend in Lincoln City. I found the store to be well stocked, clean and organized despite how busy it seemed to be (and I visited several times throughout the weekend). The reason I took a few stars off is that the few staff members I interacted with were not the most friendly interactions. I'd chalk it up to a bad day if it was a one off but having visited several times and having the same experience, it seems to be the norm. read more

I have already given a review to my neighborhood Safeway here in Lincoln City, but that was six years ago and I'd love to update that review because it is such a wonderful Supermarket. Recently, they've had a little competition with somebody opening up a supermarket across the street, but they are no comparison to our wonderful Safeway. I would go nowhere else. Since I've lived in Lincoln City, almost 6 years I have gone to Safeway every month of my life living here and then I have an additional place where I go for quick health food and organic items but everyone knows where that is. I love everyone who works at Safeway. They are friendly and kind. They are always saying Hi. Sometimes I'll sit in the little Starbucks and have something to eat before shopping. I always run into friends and neighbors and they have everything we need like every single item, if it's organic, Thai, Indian something you need for making a soup or whatever they always have everything. Now there are times when they're low on stock but if you go back in a couple days, they'll have it and that's how it is in any small town nothing is perfect. Our little store is old-fashioned. It's been here 50 years or more so it has that old vibe patina, but I love it, and I would never go anywhere else. We have a beautiful bakery with fresh bread that is made with quality ingredients, the bakery has so many pies and cakes that you can order people order all the time I'm told. I love the bagel section. They're fresh and healthy. They aren't just made quickly with commodity ingredients you can tell they're good. I love the deli. They always help me there and they have everything that you could ever want as as well as as a sushi section and hot food section. The floral section is awesome. The girl that works there is terrific, she has been here since I've moved here. Produce is wonderful and fish and butcher section is top-notch. Why would you ever go anywhere else? We have everything here. The other day I was in the parking lot of the new store and noticed may be 15 cars if that and the store was empty then I looked over at Safeway and they were packed!! We are staying at a beach house just down the road from this Safeway and we came here to pick up a few days worth of items. We do not have a Safeway back at home so this was my first time stepping foot into one. Although I do believe it's related to Albertsons. Nothing really special here to be honest. It's just your average grocery store with all the basic necessities, such as a deli, produce section, and others. Plus they have a Starbucks inside. I saw a lot of stuff here that we don't have back at home in Nevada. For example, I came across a Wendy's chocolate frosty brand cereal. That was interesting to see. When we were using self checkout, the screen on it got stuck because I guess my boyfriend was pressing the 'stop bagging' button too many times after scanning out items. The guy monitoring self checkout was helpful in correcting the problem and we were sent on our way. Parking wasn't too bad either. Easy access to and from Highway 101. Travelling a couple of weeks ago and I stopped by super early in the morning. Probably the most workers I've ever seen in a Safeway as I'm sure most were throwing freight. (that's industry talk for stocking the shelves). Where they keep the grocery carts are a mystery? I did find a basket and the guy helping at self-checkout was a kick. It is set up to be so sensitive and anti-theft I would imagine he has to help everyone who hasn't been to that particular Safeway dozens of times before. But again, he was so very friendly, nice and you could tell he liked his job. They do accept the ad from Portland so that was good. No one in their right mind or spending their own money does not use the store discounts when shopping there. Be real. What did kind of shocked me was the stinky fish counter. It's the G.D. beach! People think of seafood when you see the ocean. It was Fred Meyer in the previous years, stinky. Like 50 feet away noticeable. You can bet all the other workers there could smell it, but probably didn't dare say a word. read more

I passed over 15 people in this store only three made eye contact and the rest of them didn't greet me. I also asked if they had the electric carts for handicapped and I am handicapped. I was told to wander around outside and look and see if they're out there. I would say customer service failed at this door horribly. The store was clean the shelves were stocked but the customer service was nonexistent. I even think that one of the assistant managers was one of the people that I had contact with that didn't go well. I was in a good mood for a long time. I am a customer of this Safeway in Lincoln City. And I am someone who does their best to keep themselves and I do not know anyone that works there. However, I have been receiving long term harassment at this Safeway, wether it's an employee or a customer after being publicly humiliated on public transportation over 19months ago, and this Safeway location has been the epicenter of it all. I have tried on multiple occasions to contact both Safeway and Albertsons cooperate offices in an attempt to work this out, and I have not been talked to by anyone whatsoever! The lack of communication and the continued problems I am facing at this Safeway location tells me that both Safeway and Albertsons support hate crimes against their costumers and are actively engaged in harassment because they do not care about public safety or individuals rights. If you are unique and stand out in any way and you value your privacy, DO NOT shop at the Lincoln City Safeway.  If you live in the area, beware! Safeway employees do know where I live and have been known to harass me from their vehicles as they pass in front of my house. The harassment isn't exclusive to shopping at Safeway, but it will follow you home with stalking and even being spied on. I often wonder how people can keep jobs while practicing such abysmal service to the public. I went in to the floral department just to pick up an order we had placed ahead of time. The woman was too busy having a conversation with her friend/co-worker to be bother by our presence. After waiting five minutes for this woman to finish her conversation, she finally turned to us and said she would be with us in a minute. A bakery clerk was putting cookies out on the sale floor and took a cell phone call. An elderly woman asked the clerk if the lemon cake was fresh. The clerk, still on her cell phone, looked at the woman and replied "$7.99". The elderly woman looked at me, puzzled. Safety practices here are not addressing the needs of the community. Unlike many stores that offer at-risk shopping hours or curbside pick-up, this store does not. It is unfortunate because there are very few alternative options in this small town. Many locals are now driving to competitors in Newport where they feel safer. There are a couple nice cashiers, but everyone else is awful. I love overhearing employees yelling that their significant other "looks like a retard," while another asks my 15-year-old out on a date, while another refuses to just point my husband in the direction of something he's looking for, because "sorry, I'm off." Then there was the cashier who balked when she heard me say that I was still nursing my 18-month-old, then dredged up some story that she "read on the internet" about a woman who was breastfeeding her 16-year-old son. Because that is exactly like me nursing my 18-month-old. I shop here because of price and selection, but 90% of the staff is truly awful. I very much prefer Fred Meyer in Newport. read more

Horrible social distance policies: 1) when you walk in the person responsible for cleaning the carts is standing in front if both carts and wipe dispenser so you can get neither without walking next to her. When I asked her to move back to 6' she said it keep forgetting about that'. Really? 2) one way arrows on the floor indicating how traffic should flow are are ignored, I must have told 15 people to turn around. Most hadn't seen arrows. Maybe that cart wiper should be telling people how things work when they enter store. 3) employees ignoring the floor arrows, Safeway's own rules, and were within 6' feet of customers when there was pmenty ofi space. 4) saying carts have been cleaned when the one I got had plastic bags in it from last person Poor job by management in educating their employees and customers.. I've lived in Lincoln City for more than half a year now. It's time to write a review of this Safeway. I've given them lots of chances -- but it is what it is. Sad. That's what it is. Today, the first counter in their produce section was full of fruit -- much of it shriveled and rotting -- with a variety of flies and other bugs feasting on the rotting, filthy fruit. Stone fruits in varying stages of decay, as though no one had even looked at them, much less cleaned up the display, in days. Pears so bruised and pitted that there wasn't a surface big enough to bite into. Disgusting. I had a list of 12 different produce items to buy, and I ended up only with bananas -- where I know the entire surface area of the peel will go in the garbage. I'd meant to buy enough roma tomatoes to make tomato soup -- but their romas were bright shiney red -- an unnatural shine -- and the first touch revealed them to have been sprayed or dunked in some kind of shine-producing substance. Since it was not evaporating, it had to have been an oil/wax. And not something I'm willing to buy. Anything that sticky/slimy will collect dust and debris floating in the the air, and from being handled -- and it's just -- gross. Really pretty bright shiny red -- and completely gross. I went to buy cheese -- half the packages were printed with a 'use-by' date just days away -- and the rest were printed with a date weeks into the future, and they were side by side on the shelf. Stock was not being rotated. Once again -- nobody is taking care of these shelves. I wanted Ricotta -- and there was none. I wanted half and half -- and there was none. I wanted buttermilk -- you guessed it. None. Over and over again we looked for specific items -- juice, frozen foods, beer, bread -- and found empty places on the shelves where our items should have been. Add to all this, an outrageously rude checker who walked away from her lane as we were waiting to be checked out to scold a checker in a nearby lane. She was talking to herself. Making jokes while not checking us through -- chatting and attentive to other employees, but not registering our growing frustration. And she'd treated the people in line ahead of us in exactly the same way. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. I've been here at least half a dozen times in the last 6 months -- each time thinking that I must have just caught them on a bad day, and Safeway's a big chain that surely wouldn't let a store represent them in this way -- but clearly, this is what this store is all about. I can't figure out why people would deliberately buy their food here -- the prices are approximately the same as other stores in the area. And there are too many good choices on the coast to put up with this kind of poor management. read more

You know, as far as Safeways go, this one ain't half bad. I mean, as far as grocery stores go it's not a place I'd shop at often unless my alternatives were limited, but seeing as how I don't live here, it only has to be an occasional thing anyway. Why wouldn't I shop here often, you ask? Well, I guess I can't find a lot of what I'm looking for here. My quest to eat as sustainably and locally and organically as possible is simply not well-served by Safeway. The prices are great - that's for sure. But I have to do a lot of hunting to find anything close to what I want. The Safeway nearby where I live is super crazy ghetto, so this seems like a QFC by comparison. It's clean(er), well lit and is stocked full of stuff you might need to fill up your vacation rental's fridge. Honestly, I've only really ever sought out beer and snack-alicious sundries here, so I can't comment on produce or anything else. Today I am at the deli to buy their $9.99 fried chicken 8 piece dinner. I point out to the deli worker that there are 2 pieces of chicken that are suspiciously raw looking. He calls a woman over and she picks out a thigh and agrees that it is still raw, she pulls back the skin to show me the bloody meat. I insist there is a second piece. She takes off with the raw thigh and my server continues to serve me from this same tray of fried chicken. I tell him that piece of raw chicken has contaminated the entire tray of chicken. He empties my bag back into this tray and starts a new bag for me from another tray of chicken. Meanwhile the woman server appears with the thigh she has cooked further and drops it into the tray it came out of. When I get home, I discover my chicken has pieces that are burnt black on one side. Safeway Deli is going to make people sick with their lack of proper food prep procedures. Last chicken I buy from Safeway Deli. Dawn M, manager, now responds to me with no clear contact info.
