I am stunned by food prices in this area. Who says it's OK to charge ten dollars for free range eggs? That's twice what I pay on the east coast. I went to two other grocery stores while in this area and both have better prices. Safeway really needs to get on board with lower prices. This store has a large produce section, deli with prepare foods, lots of freezer items, big dairy area and most everything in between. There does seem to be quite a selection available. Staff that we encountered were pleasant. They don't have many cashier assisted check-out lanes available, so we did wait a bit to check out. Bring your own bags or buy some. Prices on 'sale' items were better if you signed up for their reward program, which we did as we were in the area for a while and will be back in future. No sense missing the 'sale' because we don't have the right card. Large parking lot with handicapped spots out front and easily accessible entrance. Carriages/carts/buggies and hand baskets are by the entrance. Store was mostly clean and the aisles clear of displays and other obstacles. Will we be back. Probably. Will I shop at other grocery stores first to get better prices. Definitely. read more

I don't know what is so special about the vending machines at the front of the store by customer service but the employees at this location seem to be there more than anywhere else in the store. Came to check out and the check stand light was on I unloaded my stuff but still no one was around I looked up to see 2 employees at the machines once one made eye contact they came back to their work station. Obviously on the clock leaving people waiting because they are too focused on anything but work. read more

The front end manager who I see here is amazing and is always running around being productive and helping his employees. His employees are also very kind and helpful - I have never had a bad experience buying groceries here. However, the pharmacy is AWFUL. They are not only slow and inconsiderate, but today when I asked for help finding something to help my 1yo son with his ear infection until I can get him to the doctor tomorrow, the pharmacist working was SO RUDE and judgmental - shaming me for looking for a homeopathic solution. I do not think anyone who is dealing with a sick kid or a sickness themselves should ever be subjected to her treatment. I am giving 3 stars because the staff that works the grocery store is incredible, but the pharmacy gets 0 stars in my book. So angry right now. I placed a $215 order today with almost $100 of that order being frozen foods. We get home and start unpacking groceries and realize we have NONE of our frozen food. I Immediately call the store and talk to the guy who brought our groceries out to us and he informs us he gave our frozen food to another customer by mistake. He then says they have already spoken to the customer and that she will be bringing my food back to the store tomorrow and that I can come pick it up then. UM NO. I do not want food that has been stored in someone else's house given to me. Is that even legal? Can you resell food that has already left the store? I told him I wanted the food pulled from the shelves and given to me and he seemed a bit annoyed by that. It almost seemed like he was annoyed that I am annoyed by the situation. Are you kidding me? You gave $100 worth of my food to someone else and I now have to drive 30 minutes to maple valley to pick up my missing order tomorrow. I live in Kent. Not Maple Valley. I was visiting a friend in MV which is why I placed the order for there. So this is a HUGE inconvenience. I'm also annoyed that he said to make a list of everything missing and bring it inside the store and they will re-shop the order while I wait. That's unacceptable. I already told you I am missing ALL of my frozen food. You have my order list in front of you. Replace the frozen items and have them ready when I arrive so I can be in and out and so you don't waste any more of my time than you already have. It's not that complicated. Great Safeway. Staff manager says hi to you if you catch him walking the aisle. Kind of neat. The customer service people is nice and helpful. If you go there often, they will remember you. Very clean store. They just reorganized their store around beginning of the month. But we will get used to the new changes. Bakery section looks yummy! Deli section is great for take outs. They have Starbucks, Jamba Juice and also videos to rent. There is also the gas station with low prices if you have a membership card. read more

The deli clerks were too busy talking to each other to provide even modestly good service. I was the only customer at the counter and I still had to wait several minutes for a clerk. The meat slicer was dirty and there was no attempt to clean it before slicing my turkey. At checkout the bagger couldn't be bothered to put my bread in a bag. He literally tossed it into the cart from where he was standing. There is also a problem keeping the shelves stocked. Time to shop elsewhere. read more

I will not shop there again unless I have no choice. Since Albertsons and Safeway became synonymous, the service, quality and selection have plummeted. By the way, it's really crass that GoogleYelp requires lengthy reviews and insists on juvenile "keep typing, slave!" warnings on the bottom of the text entry field. I hope to see them pay for their myriad crimes against humanity. If a place has crappy service, quality and selection, why must I type 1000 words about it? This is always a clean and well-stocked store. Also awesome to have a 24 hour option out here in the sticks (well....fast becoming NOT the sticks lol). Wish there was a one star!! I don't post reviews typically. However, Two really bad experiences in less than two weeks, worth getting someone's attention!! Got closed out of this 24 hour store tonight. They closed rudely 10 minutes earlier than posted for floor maintenance. Kicked out another customer and locked the doors on us. Just needed two items... not an altercation with a demonstration of poor management and customer service skills. Earlier this month I watched as two shop lifters walked out of the store and not an employee raised any care. I called the store manager to report this concerning trend, only to be told "Yes we know, it's bad. Oh well"..... Really??!! Why would anyone stand in line to pay (like a good citizen) and watch the free for all going on without confrontation?? Then we all pay more at the register for this company to allow it... what's wrong here??!!!!! read more

This Safeway is clean and neat, but... It is incredibly frustrating that they always have such a low number of checkout lines available. The expectation that more and more customers should check themselves out at the self checkout is ridiculous. The (too few)standard checkout lines are four and five customers deep, and should tell them that customers don't appreciate using the self checkout. It is a cost-cutting measure at the expense of the customer experience. I don't work at Safeway! If the expectation is for me to do part of a Safeway employees job, perhaps cut my bill by 5-10% if I have to check myself out. Yes, most grocery stores employ them, but this store is egregious. Fred Meyer next door for example, always tends to work more checkers regularly. read more

The most infuriating grocery store experience I've ever had. My boyfriend and I each had 3 items so we went to self checkout. The machines weren't working and the lady supervising self checkout wouldn't come help us, but when she did she blamed me and told me my card must be getting rejected... as two other people were having the same issue. We retried a couple of times and eventually got so annoyed by her lack of help that we just went to a check out lane. This was equally, if not more, frustrating. The girl in front of us took near 10 minutes to check out. Rather than seeing us with our 3 items each, the ~6 employees just stood around. Only by the time the girl finished checking out and it was our turn did they open the next lane over for the girl BEHIND us. I got through okay but my boyfriend had similar issues to what we dealt with at self check out. After attempting to pay 3-4 times they moved him to a different lane... still got rejected. The guy then blamed my BOYFRIEND saying his card wasn't working. Took us 20 minutes to get checked out at 8 PM (meaning, there's no people and it definitely shouldn't have taken that long) with only 6 items. Astounding customer service, really. read more

I really liked Safeway but experience today will send me shopping somewhere else. I spend roughly $300 a week here on groceries. I needed to return 3 items today that I had no need for so I brought them with me. I did not have the receipt but figured no big deal as long as I have the card it was bought with it won't be a problem. Well I was wrong. I was told because it was such a high amount ($28 total) I needed a receipt. I asked if I could just use the card the items were purchased with and was told their system wasn't that smart. The dollar tree has a smarter system apparently then Safeway. I asked for store credit then and was denied and told if I didn't have the receipt there was nothing they could do. It's the little things like this that will make me now take my $300 a week over to Fred Meyer. I guess Safeway needed that $28 more than me. So long Safeway. Maybe upgrade your system. It's not 1992 anymore. read more

My son's birthday was last week and of course I waited until last minute to get his cake. I always get my kids cake from Safeway and this year he wanted a Pokemon cake! Surprise surprise with all the Pokemon Go fanatics right now! The bakery did have a Pokemon cake, but it wasn't what I was looking for but they said I could find an image of what unwanted on the cake and bring it in and they could scan it and print it out on rice paper and place it on the cake. Well as luck would have it that morning I left my phone at home and also was on a time crunch to get to work in Bellevue ! The store manager, Courtney, was AMAZING! she went above and beyond and got her phone out for me and let me search for an image, but wait it gets better....they don't have a color printer there and of course we have to print out the image in color ( no kid wants a black and white image on their cake ) so she walked with me next door to the UPS and asked the woman to help us out by printing off the image for us in color. She also knew I was in a hurry so she wrote down what I wanted the cake to say and also what I wanted for the filling. This cake turned out to be awesome. !! My son loved it and so did all his class mates. One of his teachers who doesn't even usually eat cake really like it too!! This review is for their bakery. I called asking about ideas for a birthday cake for my daughter. Because it was kinda last minute I had limited options. When I asked about their cupcakes the lady helping me told that they could make them fresh that day. She also mentioned that she could spruce them up, making them look festive. I do most of my shopping at this store. It always looks clean and neat. The checkers are friendly and helpful. I like the self check out when I only have a few items. It is so much faster. We live in the area and we shop and buy gas at this Safeway in Maple Valley often. We save so much money using our Safeway club cards here. The four corners location is convenient. The wine selection at this Safeway is by far the best in the area. They also have a huge selection of high quality regional WA wines and they are often on sale. GREAT DEALS ON WINE AT THIS LOCATION! The only reason I give this four stars instead of five is the produce and meat departments: In the produce department, the vegetables are misted every 20 minutes or so to help keep them fresh, which is great, but they do not provide paper towels any more. So when I pick out my freshly misted and WET vegetables, I now have wet hands with no way to dry them off short of wiping them on my clothes, which I would rather not do. In the meat department, there is often a little blood on the packages--especially the beef products. Again, there are no longer paper towels available to wipe my hands, Other than that, this is a great store. A large number of the employees remember my name and say hi to me whenever they see me. A couple of them even remember the names of relatives of mine that have come in the store with me. read more

This is a very nice safeway. A fantastic wine selection and the best prices on wine around when you use your club card. The produce and bakery section is very nice. I wish the butcher had more prepared items like stuffed fish and seasoned meats, but that's the only improvement I would suggest. I use the gas discount every time which is really nice. read more

Great Neighborhood Safeway location! Truly is a notch above the other nearby locations in terms of cleanliness, selection and stock items, as well as good customer service most of the time. Also if you drink regularly, as I do, it is nice to see a liquor isle not under lock down as is elsewhere. Great service from the bakery or meat counter as well. read more
