I drove out to this specific Safeway in hopes of maybe finding a fresh strawberry shortcake cup, since the ones at the Safeway in Folsom had barely any strawberries on them. I didn't find any of these, because they were sold out. They were also sold out of acai and various other fruit cups, which is good, because it means they're popular. I ended up grabbing a $6.99 premade rice bowl from the hot wok area, which was just closing down. I also found a mini quince fruit spread. As I was browsing the front of the store, I could hear a woman yelling. The police were called, and ended up taking her outside. As I was watching this go down, I could feel someone staring at me from behind. I turned around to see this guy Steve who I used to wait on at the country club. He used to stare at me that same way when I waited on him, too. I shuddered and hurried to the self checkout line. That man made me feel uncomfortable for years. I was suddenly in a rush to stuff my mouth full of spicy chicken. As I was sitting in my car eating the rice bowl and watching this woman talk her way out of being arrested, a man sped into the parking lot and almost crashed into me. He was there to pick up the screaming lady and children. The cops were letting them off the hook. My rice bowl was pretty good, except the chow mein noodles were a little bland. It was wrapped so tightly with a very small amount of baby's breath, no greenery, and no water to keep it fresh. I was charged $7 and a dozen was priced at $17.99. In the deli area last night I stopped to grab a few things. I requested a few samples. This wonderful young woman was there and was incredibly helpful, she was happy to help with some of their pasta salads. I mentioned that I only sample what I already wanted and she asked why. I said that some folks get irritated if I ask for more than 2. She said not my store! She spent 10 minutes offering everything! I tried 4 more and ended up buying my originals as they were fresh! I ended up buying 2 more (they were amazing). Then my oldest son wanted their chicken and she didn't even ask and handed him a sampler first! He ended up ordering for not only last night, but more for lunch! The best part? this is our go to place but no more, on my recent order, so many things happened. The chicken meat all went terribly bad within just a few days, the fruit bowls got mold within a few days as well. The cherries (which is on sale) also got mold in them. I had terrible stomach ache in the past two days over and over and I tried to think of what went wrong... as I am writing this, I still have the stomach ache. I just went to the Safeway at Sierra College and Douglas in Roseville. I picked up a couple of items along with a prescription went to the checkout lines. There were two that were open about five stations apart. There are two people in front of me in the one line, both customers seem to know the checker personally. She checked the one customer through and then the second customer had a loaf of bread, I stood there for over five minutes, waiting for her to check the bread through so that I could check out. Rather than doing that, she suggested that Imcollect my items and go down to the other checker not wanting to have to pick things up. I said I'd wait. She then proceeded to ignore me and continue talking with her friends at the checkout station. This person it seems to be a supervisor at that store. I'm getting tired defending Safeway to my wife who prefers Raleys. I was insulted at her behavior. And I don't know her name. read more

My husband and I were grocery shopping today and a very nasty woman made a racial slur at my husband who had just gotten out of the hospital from very serious eye surgery...I could not believe what I heard so I said excuse me what did you say? She turned around and asked me if I knew English, I said very well, then she swore at me.... I said sorry you are having a bad day, she then shoveled me with her car and I said you don't want to do that is assault, she then grabbed me by my throat and tried to choke me.... Extremely disappointed in my local Safeway at Douglas/Sierra College this past Sat night around 8PM. Cruised by to pick up just one (alcoholic) item and had to utilize the ONE checkout line (as self-checkout is not available for this type of transaction). I was next in line, but the women in front of me was having difficulty with her bankcard so the checker had to keep running her card through and eventually she had to call someone on the phone. By the time the checker called for backup, however, there were probably four to six additional people behind me. When the (young male) checker arrived, instead of glancing to see if I could easily pick-up and bring my items over to the next checkout register, he escorted a women with a full cart of groceries who was maybe fourth in line? The other shoppers simply followed her to the newly opened checkout line without that old world thought to common courtesy of allowing those who have been waiting for the longest to go first....no eye contact, of course. After a few more minutes of waiting for the nagging transaction to go through...the person behind me finally packed up and drifted to the next checkout aisle. I almost yelled over to the new checker to see if I could just pay for this ONE stinking item! I'd pay in cash, whatever. At that moment, I decided to not make a scene (although I felt invisible and in truth could have slammed the bottle down and no one would have noticed). I simply walked out of line, put the bottle down and walked out. My wife is right about customer service at Safeway.....It's not on par with any of the other supermarkets in the area. read more

On Sunday, January 19, I was helped by an incredible Safeway employee named Abbie at the prepared foods counter. Another Safeway customer repeatedly walked by me, ogling me with no provocation on my end as I waited to be helped at the counter, and given my PTSD (in part) stemming from noticeable unwanted attention from people I do not know at all- I immediately felt my fight or flight instincts triggered. Unfortunately, this resulted in an angry outburst on my part, and I raised my voice, hurrying Safeway staff to assist me at the counter. Abbie stepped in right away, and calmly assisted me even though it was clear I was agitated. Abbie made me feel safe and comfortable immediately through impressive professionalism. The bakery staff is the RUDEST and unprofessional. Twice, I've gone to get a cake - the experience has been a joke. The first time the writing on the cake looked so unprofessional and shaky, I was embarrassed to present it. The second time I asked the young girl to write happy birthday on it, and she said "no". I am used to Safeway in Hawaii so it was a bit of a shock when I shopped at this location. It was clean, very spacious, and well stocked. I guess this is how every supermarket is supposed to look. Lots of parking and there are other stores I usually shop at nearby, makes it really convenient for me. The customer service I received by young cashier and bagger was nice and friendly. Safeway was never my first choice as a supermarket in Hawaii but I think I'm gonna shop at Safeway more than ever now I am in California. read more

This particular Safeway is right on the border of Granite Bay and Roseville; this is actually known as the Granite Bay Safeway. My husband and I live in Roseville and another Safeway (located on Pleasant Grove) is super close to us but, we chose to come to this location because this Safeway is beyond amazing and is our favorite Safeway store. This Safeway is huge complete with its own cafe, a large Starbucks, and tons of product that is hard to find. They also have (get this!) 7 freezer aisles that will absolutely blow your mind. Special caution to everyone, you will spend more than your usual amount on groceries because there is so much to look at and buy that it makes it almost impossible to bypass anything. Displays are beautiful and the customer service here is outstanding too! I absolutely recommend to shop here is you are ever in the area. read more

This review is strictly based on their hot soup offerings. They're selection is pretty decent & tasty! I've come on several occasions, typically during the cold winter months, to try their soups. They offer 4 different options daily, typically the chicken noodle & tomato/basil bisque are standards. I'm a HUGE fan of their potato & bacon soup. Today I also picked up a small ($2.99) Jambalaya soup for a coworker, filled with lots of sliced sausage & chunks of chicken. Smelled of a good spice & got my tastebuds going from the aroma I could smell in my car on the way back to the office. My medium soup was $3.99, but they also offer a large for $4.99 which looks to be almost double the size of my medium. Have opted for that size in the past to make 2 lunch meals in a week. I love they switch out the types offered & also provide plastic soup spoons (I love soup spoons!), napkins, & Saltine crackers. If you'd rather, they also offer containers of their other soup offerings, such as lobster bisque, chicken corn chowder, chicken tortilla, beef stroganoff, & many more! But these are cold & would need to be warmed up. Lots of options & I hope to try a few others someday. read more

After arriving to the store at 6:30 am and waiting half an hour, Amanda, the flower girl was not at her station, so I reached over the counter and grabbed a piece of paper to cover my flowers in. She came back and started screaming and cussing and dropping F bombs on me. The entire store stopped and looked it was very embarrassing. Some people are very uncouth and it's embarrassing that they have public service jobs. I'll never be coming back here. I will say Safeway has lovely flowers however and I made a nice bouquet. Unfortunately, the experience was humiliating and totally professional. To be cussed at it and screamed at for simply grabbing a piece of paper at an empty station seemed way overboard. She seems like a miserable person altogether though. Poor thing. Everything was returned to its original place and nothing was stolen. Stopped in to see if the florist could help at all. We ordered corsages for Homecoming but the local floral shop dropped the ball. As you can imagine we were stressed trying to find an alternative. I didn't even get half my question out when the older red headed lady stopped me mid sentence and responded "NOPE". I asked if we could maybe buy a wristband so that we could make on our own. Again she smirked and said "NOPE" we don't sell the supplies. Interesting too that my husband ran by our Fair Oakes to see Marisa and she totally helped us. We usually go to Fair Oaks location where Marissa in floral works but ran into Roseville location on a whim. Won't do that again. Maybe Kroger management will train this team in empathy and service. The Roseville floral dept needs it. There a way to let someone down without being nasty or short. We were stressed enough already. read more

There is the "regular price", the "member price", if you click right, then there is the "U- bullshit price", for people who are computer savvy. So my visit here was a little disappointing. I arrived at about 6:20 pm and needed to visit the meat counter because I wanted to get a leg of lamb butterflied. I was very happy and relieved that the store had lamb but the butcher told me he couldn't do the cutting because he had sanitized his work station and was closing up. That was totally fine. Lack of planning on my part does not constitute a crisis on anyone else's , I thanked him and left. After striking out at two other stores I came back to Safeway as a family member let me know they could do the cutting and I knew that Safeway at least had the meat I needed. At that point, 7 pm I happened to notice that the butcher who told me he couldn't do the cut was still behind the counter at the meat stand. I totally get shutting down a work station and not having time to realistically serve a customer before your shift ends but refusing service when you are going to remain at a work station for a full 40 minutes seems a little excessive. read more
